13 Best Lpn Programs In Allentown, PA (2022 Updated)

First of all, I have no connection to Cedar Crest College. I did not attend school nor do I know anyone that attended school there. On June 7 2018 I made a journey to the Lehigh Valley to photograph the campus of Cedar Crest College in Allentown Pennsylvania. I was inspired by a vintage early 50’s video of the school that I saw on YouTube. When I arrived I was not disappointed. The campus is so well manicured that it almost seemed like I was exploring a country club. Parking was easy and the campus was easy to find. My self-guided tour took me to all points on the campus from the aquatic center to the Da Vinci Science Center. I would like to come back to the science center when it is open. The centerpiece of the Cedar Crest College campus is Blaney Hall. The historic old building photographed well and it is surrounded by gardens in bloom. I saw the theater, cafeteria, and the art gallery. The art gallery is open limited hours and I was not able to go inside. The theater was also closed but the cafeteria was open for business and the prices were great. Cedar Crest College is 151 years young and it is truly a gem in the Lehigh Valley.Richard K

Honestly the worst school for nursing. So many people get kicked out of their school for pointless reasons. You have a better bet going to a different nursing school in the area. Cedar Crest nurses are always unconfident even when they are knowledgeable because of the environment they’re put in. If you ask working nurses in the area, they’ll tell you that they’ve only heard horror stories from Cedar Crest. People only look at their pass rate, but not their drop rate and how many people they let go for nothing. They have to take proficiency exams every semester and have to score 90% or higher on things they have not been taught yet. Go to a school that doesn’t have that! More than four professors have left within the last year and there’s a reason for that. Some quit in the middle of the year!! All the students will tell you that there’s always broken or used equipment and that the staff never values mental health of their students. Students are expected to be at a doctorate level and teach themselves. This school is extremely unorganized and there are other places that respect their nursing students and encourage teaching!Emily Snyder

I am afraid of my daughter committing suicide over this school!!!! She is so stressed and anxious because they only care about the money. When over half the class fails a test it’s not the student as much as it is the teacher!! Barely anyone gets through the nursing program without failing… a few times!! She is in so much debt but I cannot talk her into transferring because she would have to start the program over! They expect the best of the best out of the students but have the worst of the worst professors!!! They should be ashamed of themselves! They do not tech you. They expect the students to teach themselves and to know what they are doing. If the students ask questions they are made out to feel stupid. Where to start….. re-enrolling for business admin after a degree in admin. Pretty sure any of children in the children's center would have been better advisors than the first one I had as she passed me off to admissions, had no idea what she was talking about, and downright REFUSED to help me enroll in classes saying she "doesn't do that, you have to do that online but I can show you how on this computer." The next day the second gentleman was a little more helpful but again, got nowhere. Advising hold, needed a specific advisor for my program [he was the one to tell me that] but he at least got me a name. Meanwhile another advisor is emailing to set up an appointment [not the one I needed]. I contacted the one I needed, I'm not even eligible for that program due to a pre-req not being met [hours of time being wasted to find this out fyi]. Get in touch with the one that has been reaching out, my advising hold was magically lifted, no one claims to have done it, register for classes other guy cancels his appt, make payment #q all good now….. fast forward 2 weeks it's time to make payment #2. I go to the Bursar's office only to be turned away because the Bursar's office does not accept payments 😳😳. I'm starting to remember why I took an extremely long break and a long time to get my degree . I'm even contemplating paying the out of county fee to transfer up to LCCC…..Katie Fitzpatrick

Beginning of Fall Semester 2021, I was a P.T.K. honors, full scholarship recipient student here working on my second degree until I was profiled by one of the female EMT instructors who though it would be a great idea to complain to an armed police officer that I was in the hallway outside the classroom my oldest son (also a student at NCC) was attending. The officer (extremely nice and professional) instructed me not to wait for my son in the hallway anymore since one of "the female EMT instructor's" complained about me for waiting in the hallway, doing nothing wrong, but waiting for my son. The situation was quickly neutralized after showing the officer my credentials revealing to him that I myself am a EMS Chief as well as a NCC Student. The Fowler building has constant video surveillance on every floor if NCC staff wishes to investigate. This took place on the 3rd floor of the Fowler Center Building. I have since transferred as a result. I will no longer be attending or sending any of my children to NCC. Posting this now because of possible retaliation towards my son and I being NCC students at the time.John Rivera

On Friday May 31 2019 I did a self-guided tour of Northampton Community College. This was my first visit to this spacious campus. The campus is located about ten miles from downtown Bethlehem in a suburban almost country-like setting. The campus looked very modern to me. I walked through the sports building and there was a fitness center which was closed that day. Not sure if the school has a pool. There is also a north campus across the street. Student housing and Alumni Hall are located here. There are many parking lots and the school has its own campus police force. I cannot comment on the school itself since I did not go here nor do I know anyone that did.Richard K

Only my third month here studying the Medical Assistant program and I can genuinely say I love this school. What makes this specific Lincoln Tech amazing is the staff, never a gloomy day. I've had three different instructors and they are great, super personable and humorous, it really completes the learning experience. Coming from a 2 year gap of not being in school, I was afraid of how I would transition but they made it very smooth and fun. You get to meet relatable people that are in your situation as well, thank you Lincoln Tech, I cant wait to graduate so I can have nicer things to say about my experience.Diana

My time at Lincoln Technical Institute has been great. The teachers form close relationships with the students and personally help every student strive to be better. The small classroom setting and accelerated course can help you form close relationships with fellow students who will support you along the way as well. The facility is kept clean and tidy, and the bathrooms are nice as well. I love Lincoln Technical Institute! I love how the faculty and staff are always willing to go out of their way to help out all students in any way that they can. They offer free tutoring for anything you might be stuck on. Garbage education. I passed my boards the first time and it had nothing to do with this pathetic excuse of a nursing school. I was bullied the entire time I was in the program and was forced to create an apology for the cruel acts of the female populous of this program. As a male I would have never come to this school. Thank God I was an lpn before hand. Most of the hospital is ran by 20 year Olds that would rather talk about their wedding day than the patient care.Silas Smoker

If you’re transferring here you’re going to have a rough time. It’s likely that at least one or more of your credits will not transfer to this institution or the credits will not equate to the same amount of credits necessary to fulfill your degree requirements. This means you’ll have to take a few more classes and spend a bit more than you would normally have to. Additionally, most of the classes are six week courses – not full semester courses. This would be fine however, they do not allow you to take more than 5 classes per semester (including six week courses) meaning that in each half of the semester you’ll be taking about 2-3 classes instead of the standard 5 despite paying for a full semester. Due to this, I’ve had to take multiple semesters of summer classes when I really could have made up those extra classes that didn’t count towards my degree during my last semester.. I’ve never failed a class in my life. If you are enrolling over the summer (which you’ll likely have to if you’d like to graduate on time) you’ll be spending an egregious amount of money. You’ll be charged a $200 summer enrollment fee, and I believe it’s around $600 per credit. I’m taking two half-semester (six week) art classes right now. It’s costing my family $4,000 in total for this summer alone. Additionally, it seems like the advisor council may be quite unorganized. On many occasions I’ve spoken with my advisor (they’re really nice) and asked exactly how many classes I still need to graduate – they could not once give me an answer to this question so my real graduation date is a mystery (never failed a class btw!). I’ve also been told to take classes that I’ve already taken by them to which I need to remind them that I HAD taken them previously. The campus is also much smaller than most community colleges. There’s barely any student life stuff going on and most of it is at 12pm. Sounds fine but almost all of the classes in my degree take place after 4pm. It’s lonely as heck. If you’d like to graduate on time and have summers to yourself, I’d recommend applying elsewhere. The only reason I’m giving this a 2 star is because the professors are really nice. I’d recommend not asking them about the field of work that they teach in though. A lot of them cannot or will not answer after-class questions that apply to the real world.Mariella Esposito

Attended the reception of a Parkland Art League show juried by Ann Lalik in the Ronald K. Dealing Gallery at Penn State Lehigh Valley. The gallery was perfect for easy flow of visitors with excellent lighting on all the various surfaces. I attended from 2018-2020 to get a couple of associates degrees after a career change. I think this is the best school I have been to so far. I have taken courses at multiple university's and I will say the curriculum and the standard that the professors hold the students here is on par or exceeds what the other schools/university's offered me. Going through both the University route and the community college route, I would recommend any student, unless you obtain a full ride of course, to go through community college because of a few reasons. 1. Cost, if you get your generals done at a CC you can do the rest of your focused studies at a university and you will have saved a lot of money and may have possibly qualified for additional scholarships and grants to continue your education that you might not have before. 2. Readiness. If you are not sure you are ready for University studies a great place to test it out is a CC. It is a great barometer and often just as challenging as University courses. If you can do LCCC then you can do University and most would say it the other way around. 3. The professor's. Professors at CCs are often more in touch with their students and I believe they foster a great environment in which to ask questions and get individual help. I had some great professors at LCCC and some I still keep in contact with. Don't get me wrong, you can find good personable professors at a University, but just not as readily. That being said LCCC provided me all of these things and I would recommend anybody going to a CC and particularly LCCC. It is a great growing school with a lot of programs to study. The campus is in a nice location in Schnecksville and has plenty areas to study and learn. Oh and the bookstore is wack like I have seen from other reviewers, but it didn't drop the rating by a star for me.Trevor Lanning

My girlfriend is currently in the CDL program and paid $5,430~ to be three weeks into a four week course and has not yet been on the road yet. Last I check it was a DRIVING school not spend the entire time backing up trailers school. They were told that the second week they would be in the trucks driving yet the head instructor or whatever he is says they "aren't ready". Now they are on the last week. Monday, an instructor will be out and so no one will get road time that day. They expect all 8 people at the Luzerne location to be fully competent in their ability to drive an 18 wheeler inside of three days. To put it into perspective they have 2 trucks and 8 students and 8 hours a day. Each student MIGHT get 6 hours of driving. Total waste of money. You can get your CDL for a third of that price with more knowledge by reading the CDL book from PennDOT yourself, having a friend with their CDL take you out in their truck or a rental from Ryder and then after enough practice go take the test. Either they need to step up the education or it's simply not worth it. Hell, Prime would've been a better option but they only have automatics and that results in an automatic restriction.Turbo Lag

I am a student at Lehigh carbon community college. * The financial aid staff are very helpful they will help you get all the loans student financial aid you can think of and a few you haven't thought of. * The business office very professional. * When it comes to the professors I give them a c average. The English literature class be wary. The best way I can describe it is think like Rodney Dangerfield and back to school. Where you can get your information concerning a article book or other writing from the professor's own biography and you will be wrong. The English literature department does not allow creativity of any kind. * Their legal and business and nursing courses are some of the best You can ever find. The campus is very clean very organized and the administrative staff is super helpful. My three-star rating is based solely upon the professors If you're not going to go into the legal field or nursing field take your genetic courses at Lehigh carbon and then transfer.Bobby A

This place is by far the most horrible company I’ve ever dealt with. They discriminated against a friend of my family who watches my son with autism because they were not going to accept her green card as valid identification. Then they suggested that they have someone with a Social Security fill in for her in which seemed illegal but we went through the steps anyway. Upon driving up there because the woman had a New Jersey license they required fingerprints and “ A tuberculosis test”. In which is absurd. Not to mention good luck ever getting a hold of these people I have been dealing with them to try to get answers for three weeks now. Highly unrecommended this place the business line is a woman’s cell phone and from seeing reviews about this company I should’ve turned the other way right away. She was knowledgeable, friendly, and kind. We are looking forward to working with her and her staff as soon as we can. I was with this agency for two years. Not sure why ? They hire the bottom of the barrel, non- educated, under qualified caregivers I’ve ever come in contact with. I’ve been robbed several times. And left alone a couple of occasions. I would not recommend them to anyone!Janet Duran

I started school at a terrible time, I was truly going through a lot. You know that saying everything that can go wrong will go wrong in Nursing school. However I still came with a smile and put the work in. Every One in this school has helped me along my journey from the President of the school down to front desk clerk no job these beautiful souls have is to small in this building. To my instructors whooo! I was a lot, the capital A can not be big enough of how Awesome each and every one of them are. No matter how many times I enter their office they were always willing to help me, go over things, test, talk me off the ledge, remind me that I had this. These beautiful souls are not just your instructor they become you number one fan, your biggest supporters, they become your therapist, you rhymes of reason when you need it, your tutors, I could have not have gotten through this with out a better team of Prudent Nurses. To my clinical instructors thank you so much you gave us the hands on to go out there and feel confident as a nurse. You made sure we had the the cases in our rotation that would give us the most experience. For the Program Director thank you, I have cried on your shoulder, I probably have interrupted lunches, and maybe a few phone calls for advice and wisdom. You never shut me down. It’s so many of you here just know I can not mention you all because then this would be a book. Do not go here school is not the best and the people that run the school are rude and don’t appreciate you choosing there place of education but I will say they do have good teachers and clinical instructors thanks for the response and I understand the policy but getting 3 pictures printed for a in class assessment is not abuse of a policy. I'm very thankful to be a student at falcon institute! My Holy God referred me to the school for a good reason. I have gained so much hope at falcon. My teacher Mrs. Lax is amazing teacher! She has a vivacious personality. She is resourceful and understanding. I can approach her anytime. She always helps with my questions and my suggestions are very important to Mrs Lax. I'm blessed to be apart of the school. I can rely on my teacher in case of need and she always make sure that we understand the concepts before she goes on. No stars! I am a current student at this institution. I started 01/06/2020. I get to the end of the program… my last class to pass and they fail me due to not passing the ATI 2017 Med Surg 2. Which was passed on the second attempt with a 71%. However, they would not except this score because of a situation that occurred while taking the online proctored exam. Needless to say I had to take it a third time which led to me receiving a 68.9% on a new version of the ATI 2020 (OUR CURRENT ATI BOOKS ARE 2017) NOTED. So now I am stuck at this institution and must repeat the class. Even though I have passed the class with an 84% overall grade. Now here is the messed up part. The institution states that in order for me to re-take med surg 2 over I must test out of A and P and BNS. I get two attempts and if I don't pass these test out exams I must complete A and P and BNS all over again. Which I have passed already. How mad am I? When you make it to the end and this happens. No negotiations, no make up this is what it is. Though out my time at this school there has been… difficulties. With the PN administrative department and some instructors. note: I have witness 3 excellent instructors and they know who they are. For our class 54… We started with about 32 students and ended up finishing with 6 and out of that 6 only 3 are taking the exit exam 'hopefully'. I do plan to finish because I can't afford to start over elsewhere. But I hope that if anyone is planning to obtain a career in nursing to go elsewhere. I do not recommend this institution to anyone. Yes it is easy to get in but hard to stay in and complete the PN program. Our class made it because we understood that we must stick together to pass and we made it as a team and still some of us failed. I am so proud of those of us that will/may finish. This proves that self-dedication is possible with the determination to finish this program against everything that was thrown at us. Although I did graduate from this school, the experience was HORRIBLE!!! PITC needs to increase student support and communication. There were times we went weeks without a response from staff, not even the DON (Alex) or owners of the school. My last class ended in September 2020. We did not take the Exit Exam until January 2021. During that waiting period; we have not heard a word from Suja or administration about what the next step would be. We’ve sent countless emails, left many messages and voicemails with no response. Their communication is despicable.This school is not worth the amount of money they charge. The simulation lab was not really a simulation lab. During my attendance, the only clinical experience we had was in nursing homes. No hospital experience, which means no Peds, Maternity, Med Surg, or Mental Health experience prior to graduating. There were a couple of great instructors that actually cared about the students, but overall, I would never want to attend this school again. I finished valedictorian and didn’t even attend the graduation because of my disgust with the school. I’ve been to different schools and NEVER experienced anything like this. I have so much more to say, but I’ll cut it short. If I had to do it again, I would not choose to attend this school. I would not recommend this school to anyone. This school needs to be shut down. I really wish I had of listened to the reviews about this school as well…WARNING DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL PLEASE!!!!!! You will regret every moment of it. This program has so many issues from terrible teaching to lies and deceit. You basically teach yourself since everything is on l online because of covid-19. The owner doesn't care about anything that goes on with the students enrolled. You only get one uniform and you're spending almost 40k for tuition. They make everything sound so good when enrolling students but it's all a facade. Look how they respond to the bad reviews🤔 how so apologize for someone stating an opinion about your program and then turn around and rub in the reviewers face about the fact that people have graduated from the program? Most likely they graduated by the skin of their teeth. To sum everything up don't waste your time or money please.. Follow up comment 06/03/2022. I still advise people to avoid this school. It's impossible to reach someone and then when you reach someone you need to be transferred 10x. I been emailing a advisor to schedule a appointment and she takes long to respond and avoids scheduling a specific time. This school makes it hard to assist the general population in the area. I have yet to get general information over weeks they just want you to apply and join classes without any assistance and known for telling you to take classes that aren't needed.D C

Everything has been an obstacle and have yet to start. I make phone calls to speak to someone no one ever picks up. I leave a message at the front Desk,advising etc. Wait a couple days no call back. I call they pick up. I got approved for the GED program. Scored a 12.9+ on every pretest. Came in early and everyday I was suppose too. I took my math pretest. Showed I was ready to take test. I ask support administrator for tutoring to reinforce any areas I'm not secure in. She tells me she'll look. It's been 3 weeks and every call I have to refresh her brain.
