Simply put, the 4 years I spent at The College of Saint Rose were the best 4 years of my life. I attended the Accepted Students Day the Spring before I matriculated and fell in love. The campus was beautiful, everyone was friendly and helpful. I left with every question answered and very at ease about where I would be spending the next 4 years. Saint Rose provided me with an opportunity to come out of my shell. I was the typical shy student. I had my group of friends and I stuck to them. I didn't participate in any campus activities, my days consisted of going to class and back to my room. At the beginning of my second year, I knew I wanted to make a change, I wanted to experience all Saint Rose had to offer. I became a mentor, and then a resistant assistant, joined clubs, and volunteered. I did it all. I became a leader on campus all while balancing my school work and employment. The resources are unlimited at Saint Rose, you just have to reach out. Class sizes are small which is perfect for those of us who like to get to know our professors. As a biology major, I found my classes to be challenging but not impossible and learning was fun. When you have professors who are passionate about their field it makes you passionate to learn and that is what you will find when you come to Saint Rose. With the help of one of my professors, I was able to secure a summer research internship at Albany Medical College. My time spent here was very productive. I was able to do things I never envisioned myself doing and really break out of my comfort zone. The College of Saint Rose helped me develop friendships and skills of a lifetime.Kajanna McKenzie

When I transferred to Saint Rose, I knew that this place would become my second home. I can't stress enough how transfer friendly the college is. I had such wonderful help from Transfer Admissions, Financial Aid, Registrar and the Communications department throughout the transfer process. They included my mom as well and answered any questions she had. While attending Saint Rose, I had some incredible opportunities that you can only get from Saint Rose. I was elected President for Tau Sigma National Honor Society which allowed me to go to Chicago and San Antonio for their leadership conference. I got to go on several trips including the Hearst Tower in NYC, Yankee Stadium, Bronx Zoo and to local media outlets such as Time Warner Cable News. I also was a staff writer/news editor for The Chronicle, the weekly student newspaper. But most importantly, Saint Rose prepared me for my two internships/part time job during my senior year and current full time job in the news industry. The professors in the Communications department helped me grow not only as a journalist but as a person. They pushed me to think outside the box and ask the tough questions. Without such a wonderful and supportive COMmunity, I wouldn't be where I am today. I feel like one star would be harsh, but three stars would be too nice. My experience with Saint Rose is that it is, like many colleges in this country: overpriced. That is a common complaint with all colleges, but it's more than that. I think the value of the education you get there doesn't really match what you are/will be (if you are taking loans) paying for. I feel the education at Saint Rose is not preparing the younger generation to enter the workforce or the real world. The school boasts great academics and don't get me wrong, some classes have been very objective based and informative. However, some classes made me feel like I was still in high school/the public education system. As in, 1) They aren't that challenging, 2) They don't teach me skills and knowledge that I'll need in the future and 3) It feels like some of the classes had a larger agenda to them (trying to convince students rather than teach). Besides the academics, the campus is nice. Personally, Albany, NY is not my cup of tea but for someone coming from the NYC area (which there's a lot at SR), it might be nicer to be in a much smaller city. Besides that, I think most adults see college campuses kind of deteriorating in terms of the academics and culture. I don't need to go into details about that. I think many adults and people in the workforce understand what I mean though.Idaho Wumbo

I love this school.. The staff is super friendly, all the teachers know who you are and want you to succeed… I graduated the LPN program and I loved all the nursing teachers. They are always there if you have a question and they want you to succeed. The director dr. Millenbach was there for me every time I came into her office with a problem, she immediately stop what she was doing to talk to me and help me however she could. I passed by boards the first just like almost everyone in my class.. They prepared us very well for the boards.. I am also employed less than 2 months after graduation. It's really lovely that ACPHS has been doing construction in a building students live in all semester 🙂 The best part is that it now occurs every day of the week beginning at 7 AM and finals week is next week (not like students need sleep or the ability to study in peace and quiet or anything). Maybe next time the college undertakes a big construction project, they should consider doing it in the summer. My mother was in rehab in June 2019. This place is poorly run and dangerous. There are some incompetent nurses, doctors and aids. My mother is oxygen dependent. Her oxygen was turned off one morning when we arrived. She was incapable of doing this herself. She suffered with a blocked bowel for days and was in excruciating pain. Staff missed it. We had to call 911 to get medical help. My mother fell out of bed and hurt herself even though we said we were concerned this may happen — the staff took no precautions like lowering the bed or a warning mat. Several staff members were just cruel nasty people. On a positive not the physical, speech and occupational therapist were consistently excellent. I believe they were independent contractors. 2021 I am still haunted by the unprofessional staff and cruelty. Stay away from this place.Michelle k.

We were worried our mother would not get good care. Mother had been at Rosewood manor for rehabilitation and the experience there was horrible. After a trip back to the hospital we refused to let her return . We are blessed to have our mom at Teresian House. The staff and the care she is getting is great. They truly care about all of moms needs and wellness. Her single room is large, bright and even has a desk, private bathroom and a 70” TV! The food choices are plentiful and we have even been offered her choice of ice cream for dessert! We were surprised to see the extra large gym with all the specialized rehabilitation equipment , truly first notch! We strongly recommend Teresian House it’s excellent caring staff and the overall facility for your loved one!!!Kathy Weidman

Only reason I gave 1 star because I wanted to comment. They under pay employees. The top nun is miserable and mean for no reason. They have no control nor do they care about covid and it’s affects to their residences. Covid hit there hard 2 times! It’s sad when money comes before faith. Teresian house isn’t Catholic it’s money drawn. I work there not even 3 months. It was a joke. I felt bad for the residence and the food they was subject to eat. All their money is going to that place and for that place to be there finally stop before Heaven, I really felt for the residence and their family members.Glenda Lopez

Dear Mr. Slatky, Doctors, Nurses, CNA's and entire staff at Shaker Place: I cannot tell you how excited I was to finally get the opportunity to visit my mother on 09/22/2020, since COVID interrupted all of our lives, back in March 2020. I appreciated all the professionalism, strict guidelines and precautions you are taking to make sure the residents, staff and visitors stay safe. I was also excited to see the staff, that I missed so much, too! I really could have cried. They have truly become like a second family. My mother has been a resident for almost 3 years, because of her Alzheimer's diagnosis. As awful the disease is, our family is thankful that mom is blessed to be given well needed healthcare, along with kindness and compassion. I am not just talking about the nurses and CNA'S. The social workers, therapists, the admin staff, social activities staff, the maintenance and security staff, the seamstress and food servers have ALL shown their kindness towards my mom and our entire family. Also, any time there is the slightest issue with mom, even a hangnail, I am notified. How great is that? After numerous hospital stays, my dad had been sent to the nursing home a few times for rehab. He was fortunate enough, because the staff went out of their way, to be close to mom so that they could spend some of their meals together, and even one time being roommates! Although mom may not have known him, it gave dad a first hand look at the great care she is given. Unfortunately, he passed away in December, but we know he was also given the best care. So, very long story short, I want to thank everyone for being on the frontlines of this pandemic. You are all giving of yourselves, to help our loved ones stay healthy and safe. We got to the point back in May 2021 of having to arrange nursing home care for our 84 year old mother. I cannot thank the entire staff at Shaker Place for the kindness, care and empathy they shared with my brothers and I during her stay. Mom passed away on Monday October 25th of 2021. Knowing that our Mom was receiving outstanding care even amidst the COVID situation was comforting. The communication from the administrative people, especially Amanda was so appreciated. She was patient with us and explained options and procedures in terms that were easy to understand. Every time one of us visited our mother, the nursing staff at the Wright wing were available and were patient with us as we asked numerous questions. A special thank you to Shannon who provided constant communication throughout Mom's stay and to the rest of the staff at Wright who helped make our Mom as comfortable as she could be. Thanks also to her doctor who arranged the care conference with all of the care givers when we were arranging for Hospice care. The people in that room from Shaker Place could not have been more caring and were extremely patient with my brothers and I answering our numerous questions and concerns. And finally, a special thank you to Mr. Slatky, director of Shaker Place. Your facility is beyond clean, is bright and was the best place for our Mom to be other than at her own home. I will never forget your initially reaching out to me back in May letting me know you had a place for our Mom. Thanks also for your kind expression of sympathy when our Mom passed. Certainly a upgrade from many years ago, a job well done, the residents are absolutely amazing wonderful and delightful. Some of the staff are truly welcoming and kind the nursing director Rebecca not pleasant at all in fact rude ignorant and doesn’t know how to communicate, by holding a title she feels very superior to all, she needs a lesson in communication and must know she can’t speak to people how she sees fit, she’s gonna approach someone who well won’t be so kind….. respect is both given and earned disgusting and bitter taste for her!!!!!! Went to the stadium, my son won some tickets. We sat in the last row of bleachers on the home dugout side. The ushers were friendly, we were escorted to our seats upon asking directions to our seating area. Many activities happened in-between innings, t shirts were tossed and lucky members of the crowd got to play games on the field. Big focus on alcohol, many areas to buy your beverages of choice. One food area seemed to close early, pretty normal sight in our travels past COVID-19. Bathrooms were clean, well stocked. Food was good, my son says it's his 4th best burger he has ever had. He bought one before leaving. The reason for the 3 star is the dead mouse under my seat and the red bugs on the cement wall infront if the seats. It's a outdoor venue, I understand, but seeing the ushers collect trash makes me wonder if the stands get swept.Kylee Playz

Wow this place has garbage staff. They specialize in making education difficult or even damn near impossible to register and navigate their trash course listings. I’d expect more from a community college with so much money. They dare call themselves a “pioneer” in online education. Hogwash! Listen, don’t listen to me—check it out for yourself. You’ll be disappointed with their offerings. Then again, they pay their staff dog wages so what should I expect? EDIT: 2 months later… still garbage staff. Unable to fix the simplest of issues. Went to the County Folk Art Festival on a Friday night this time. Not too crowded, and lots of Fall craft items for sale. And a few Christmas craft items too. I saw a couple of things that I kind of liked, but I must have been more hungry than I thought. I bought some very good. Amish snickerdoodle cookies and a couple of nice chocolate sticks. This has taken me a while but I am finally ready to share my experience in the NP program. Prior to this my experience at SAGE was positive. As a student in the NP program I was spoken about but never spoken to by the department chair. She NEVER offered assistance or suggestions for my potential success instead discussed my potential failure at the door of the classroom with another colleague. Really ladies how unprofessional. I worked extremely hard during my time at Sage, academics were always a challenge. It was not until I was unsuccessful at this juncture that I was diagnosed with dyslexia. So while your professionalism had a very negative impact on my feelings of self-esteem they lead me to a discovery that changed my future. I've been at the same profession for almost 30 years and have had a prosperous and exciting life, mostly due to the phenomenal education I received here. I'm very glad I attended when I did. DO NOT GO TO THIS SCHOOL. Where do I start? I start school here in January of 2018. This school has done anything, but made my life a living hell. When I first got here I received a email from Florence Jones stating "You now have a hold on your account and we cannot remove it until you provide us with a physical." The same day, I gave Florence permission to seek my most recent physical record from my doctor. Florence then forged my signature to request more for records that I had no knowledge about and most importantly did not approve of. The director, Josephine Ruffrage, and I set up a meeting to talk about this serious situation. Most of the conversion was Josephine stressing about how good of a person Florence is. A person who has been working for the school for 10+ years and recently just retiring. Including how she Florence won a Chancellor’s Award and even was requested by one student in a survey that ONLY 35 student took to be hired back after retirement. She was hired back to help out because the previous person was offered another opportunity, etc. After reviewing the survey, there was a lot of factors that I noticed that would make that survey inaccurate and feel as that this was a gesture to persuade how I feel about this entire incident. Just knowing that this school has less than 2000 students, the average success rate for surveys are about 30 to 40 percent (600 to 800 students). Again, it felt like Josephine was making all these excuses for why Florence would make this decisions. During our first meeting she stressed the statement “This office does not requests extra record. We are only here to help the students.” The way I look at it is that is that Florence was wrong for forging documents that I did NOT give her nor anyone else in this school permission to do. For example; if you gave me a check for $10 and I intentionally add three extra zeros, making the total $10,000. Am I right or wrong? If this was the situation between Florence and I with Josephine being the Judge. Florence just got off free and I'm in lost of $9,990. This is illegal and no matter how you justify it, it's wrong. For someone to be working for this school, the state, and a role model for this many year, they should know the right way to handle situations and not get so comfortable that you feel you could work the system with no consequences. This sets a "great" example for student when they are caught plagiarizing and why they should not be expelled from school for doing it once. Next, during the semester I noticed my loans were accumulated interest and I had a payment due. The school has never sent out the form stating that was I was a student. My loan provider sent me a form that was submitted from SUNY Poly stating that I was NOT a student. I immediately went to the student account office to talk to someone and they told me that the process takes about a month and a half. Instead of helping me by telling me I could fill out a deferment form, they insisted that I should just wait and continue to watch my accounts increase, which could badly affect me. I expect everyone in this office to be knowledgeable and if they don't know the answer they could direct me to the right person or place. Also, be the people that students can turn to for help, but you can't because they would rather tell you anything to get you out of their face. However, I was able to get resolve by doing some research then calling my loan provider again to asking about the deferment form. Since there is a character limit I am not able to list everything. But this school will only cause you stress. The professors and administrators suck. You can call and email as much as you want, you may get a response back but not likely. You can't ask them questions without them getting frustrated or not giving you a clear answer. SUNY Poly as a whole are low of staff everywhere on the Utica campus. So walking into a office and they is no one there to help you is completely normal. The library is not 24 hours, plus they may or may not have the resources you need to suceed.تستمر الحياة

In addition to It being a world class reasearch and development semi conductor facility it now houses a hi-tech high school specializing in STEM ( Science Technology Engineering Math) education. I wouldn’t recommend it at all. There are high school students in the same building which means classes often gets interrupted with overhead announcements for the high school. There’s hall passes, sign in and out forms. It is a time based program so you are clocking in and out of school so be aware of that. So far the best part is clinicals but our labs were a mess. Sometimes lab instructors were not present. Strict on phones can’t even use them to study they want them in envelopes.Nay Souverrain

After being told I would recieve college credits when the time came to apply them to the college of my choice they did not accept them. This place is great. Im a student here taking Culinary Arts. Ive actually learned thing here and there is many more classes you could take. There is nursing, conservation, welding and metal trades, electromagntic trades, carpentry, animal science, graphic arts, and more. Usually the classes are 2 years. This school is mostly ment for highschoolers but you can be an adult to take these classes. There's also a actual school on the other side of the property. I go to that school and i am a senior. I think this school is great to go to for people that dont enjoy to do homework. The class sizes are small, around 10 people per class so you can actually learn and ask the teacher got personal help, if you need it. The teachers actually care about the students too. Its a nice active place that has a great atmosphere. Thats my take on this place and if you can go you should.The Smiph

Terrible experience just to get into the program. This program's entrance process is not very accommodating for people who currently have jobs, especially when there is no guarantee that you will be accepted. I went for my interview, which offers a call in option. I was told I could not use this option, something that should have been mentioned before hand. The interviewer was rude and looking for anything to comment on about my setting. I was told I needed to be sitting for the interview (which I was) and when I explained that I was and even showed her, she conveniently could no longer hear me. I was told I needed to reschedule, again if you currently have a job it is not that simple to just keep leaving work like this.Brianna White
