20 Best G.E.D Programs In Sarasota, FL (2022 Updated)

Do not go there for the adult culinary programs. They basically treat you like you work for their cafeteria and teach you NOTHING. The instructors are unprofessional, abrasive, and treat the adult students like children. You will be working in groups with absolutely no instruction (hands-on or otherwise) and you may get lucky and be able to make a small part of the recipe since groups are 4-5 people, each group works on a different recipe, and you will be preparing foods for them to sell to their high school students. The instructor basically heads you a recipe and that’s the extent of your “learning” aside from lots of tedious book work that you also do on your own. You will not even be allowed to taste what you made since it will be sold to school children. The instructor told us if they cannot sell the product you make, you get a “failing” grade, despite zero instruction. When asked why we aren’t all individually participating in making recipes, the answer was that they couldn’t sell that many of one item. I thought I paid a good amount of money (out-of-pocket) for them to cover the cost so that I could make a recipe and not make one recipe with four other people. I got my money back and already had a high-paying career in risk management, but other students continued with the program in hopes of obtaining work in restaurants or increasing their pay. I feel this program takes advantage of the difficult situations these other students faced, many of whom paid with financial aid or GI Bills. Also, the recipes they provide are portioned for home baking or cooking, not commercial. Find something or somewhere better to go. When I voiced my complaints about the instructor’s brash behavior and unwillingness to teach so that she could stand around on her cell phone texting, there were many excuses given and not once was she held accountable. On the contrary, I was told that she actively taught the class once or twice after I left and she chastised the adult students for complaining and then reverted back to her McDonald’s/DMV level of professionalism. It’s terrifying to imagine that children are left alone with these people.Elizabeth Grill

Save y’all time and money and go else where I was interested in there LPN program i called everyday for over two weeks and kept getting transferred to a voicemail it was so bad I had to went down there in person to speak to the person that’s in charge of that department it was a black African lady very nasty attitude name Rachel A Victor. When I first arrived I explained to the person at the front desk the reason why I was there and I told the gentleman I kept leaving voicemails on this lady phone and send her email and no answer when she called me in the back the Rachel A Victor she’s the counselor am referring too she kept saying I always checked my voicemail and email I said well I have been calling nonstop for over two weeks she said well I didn’t receive any voicemail or any email. She kept going on and on to the point I felt uncomfortable and I said it’s ok am here now and I just want to get info how to get started she did ask for my email and send me an email but after that she started going on and on again about she never get any call or email as if am lie in to her. She was very rude and unprofessional to the point I felt uncomfortable I end up leaving and I send her the documents she requested high school diploma ect please to keep in mind I had to home school for personal reason but my mom made sure the school I attended was accredited school i am a former broward college student I also went to nova university for a few classes for my major and I had to provide my high school diploma ect I never had any problems with getting into any school with my high school diploma. Leaving this review for any student who is interested in taking the Digital Multimedia Class. If you are like me and chose in person learning instead of learning online for a reason, this is not the course for you. The majority of this course is taught online, yes, even while you are in class. When you need help, the teacher will tell you to “google it” . You are better off paying for a LinkedIn subscription and just learning at your own pace. Because on top of teaching yourself (essentially) you also have strenuous deadlines. Which most students aren’t able to make, being that we weren’t actually taught how to do the assignment. This results in a majority of students dropping out, as he will tell you himself. Thought it wouldn’t happened to me but it did. And the real problem is that the “teacher” is simply not teaching. I was highly disappointed. We went on a college tour of New College of Florida. New College is a unique honors college that is part of the State University System of Florida. The tour was very informing about how New College focuses on academics, the arts, and a liberal arts college education. While New College is small, it has growth plans in place. The tour guide advised they have hired 15 new multidiscipline faculty members, with a goal to grow the college from about 800 to 1,200 students. Unique Observations: New College is located on Sarasota Bay, which makes for a beautiful and relaxing place to attend college, have special events, and participate in water sports. New College campus is split between the north and south side by Tamiami Trail, with a pedestrian walkover for students. New College is located very close to the Sarasota- Bradenton International Airport, which makes it very convenient to travel to and from the campus. Located in beautiful Sarasota, Florida, New College is closely connected with the local art, cultural, and outdoor recreation scene. The professors here are amazingly good! They are what's keeping me here. Most of the administration is terrible. When I got here I heard about it a lot from the senior students but I didn't realize how bad it is until I finished my first semester. Mold in your room? Too bad. Need your transcripts sent to another school? Too bad. Accidentally got billed twice for the meal plan? Too bad. Someone from another dorm in another building breaks something? Too bad, everyone gets billed. Want to live off campus? Too bad. So many students leave before they finish their first year and the administration is scratching their heads wondering why. It's a small yet personal school because the faculty are truly FOR the students. Everyone is involved in some way on campus, its not called an honors college for nothing. Everyone here TRIES to succeed. I was pleasantly surprised by the number of resources available to students including a study abroad program. I went to this school years ago for a short time. I wasn’t from Sarasota and because I was chubby and from North Port, teachers and staff would allow students to throw dog food at me and my friends. Push us into lockers. Call us names. I had the female guidance counselor go through my private text messages and photos. I was 14/15 and the counselor was going through underage explicit content on students phones and admitted to it to them, and myself, but wouldn’t bring it to the parents attention. Instead she would question who the people you’re taking to are and to tell her what was going on privately. When my friends in north port passed away, they forced me not to talk about it, but expected us march to the funeral of students who has passed due to underage drunk driving who had crashed their vehicle at 3 am. They would bash North port and the multiple deaths they also had, an told all of us, the kids in north port who died weren’t important during morning line up. This school was mean. The band director was disturbing. Gave no help. Picked favorites, and got way too deep into their students lives and social media/cell phones. I still have ptsd from going to this school.Ashley NV

My 5 star opinion, is based strictly as a substitute teacher. I taught as a long term substitute for 8 weeks and then worked as a sub in random classes. As a substitute, I was made to feel very comfortable at SMA by the faculty and administrators. I felt appreciated. Anything I needed or any questions I had, someone was there to help. The biggest complaints I heard from students were the dress code regulations. My only complaint has nothing to do with the school but with parents. Parents, Not Teachers, are responsible for how much rest your child gets. They come to school with a few hours of sleep and don't want to do learn. Parents, Not Teachers, are responsible for your children being taught to respect authority figures. When your child talks back rudely to a teacher and they are sent to ISS dont complain about the teacher. Teach Your Child RESPECT. If you as a parent respect the regulations and support the school, your children will too. Teachers can do a much better job if they don't have to do your job. I recommend SMA but only do so if stricter regulations don't bother you or your child. It's a great school!Maria Eberle

I graduated class of 2014 and through the time I went there it started to decline. When they added the IB program is when it really went down hill. My sister graduated last year and it seemed as if the IB students were the only ones that mattered. If you were just a student not in the IB track you didn't matter regardless of if you were in regular classes, honors, AP, or duel enrollment. I still know people that attend the school and many are glad to be getting out, and even several who just left and went somewhere else because they felt as if they didn't matter. When I went all the staff and faculty treated the students at individuals and invested time into helping them. The teachers worked with the students to help them improve and would spend extra time if needed. Many of the teachers and staff that were there when I was do not appear to be there any more. I am very sad to have to give this rating and review, but with all the issues that are coming up and what I have seen my friends going through I only thought it was fair to let people know. I just graduated from the Surgical Technology program at this school with the instructor Ms.Daise, she was excellent!! There is sooo much to learn in such a short period of time and she was very thorough and prepared us very well for our clinical rotation. She was our sole instructor this time around. I guess in the past they normally have a seperate instructor for clinicals. We did not this time, And I would not of had it any other way. Having Ms.Daise as our instructor made our clincial rotation so much better, everyone at the location of our clinicals couldnt say anything but great things about our class and our instructor. I guess they have had issues with the other "instructor" at the school that we did not. This program was great! The hospital literally wants to hire every single one of us, thats how great this experience has been for all of us! Ms.Daise is the best!! She is the heart and soul of this program, she really cares and loves to teach and it is apparent. She also has the standards for Surgical technology down pat, And doesnt teach short cuts. SHE IS THE REAL DEAL!! I would give her ten stars if I could, and I would give 2 stars to the Health science Office staff… Too many "politics" going on in the office and they care more about their " status quo" then making sure the students have what they need to succeed. Program: Computer Systems & Information Technology (CSIT) Instructor: Rob Saul Instructor is world class, he often utilized a Socratic style of teaching which was unique compared to just about every other teacher I've ever had. The program exposes you to various technology but the main components are centered around the CompTIA certifications, namely A+, Net+, Sec+. I'd imagine the core learning material is still largely self-paced as you progress towards each certification exam. I was dual enrolled 9-10 years ago but I doubt much has changed aside from the actual certification material being updated every few years These certs are all great for getting into various entry level IT positions..you're probably looking at roles like help desk/desktop support/support technician/isp tech/etc. These certs won't make you a sys admin or network admin, but they certainly lead to those type of career trajectories. Final thoughts: Adults – I'd personally just recommend picking up an A+, Net+, Sec+ CompTIA bundle and going to town. There I just probably saved you a ton of money. You'd gain the same knowledge and can sit for the same certs the program prepares you for, but in a MUCH quicker time frame really. High School Dual enrollers – 100% sign up for this if seriously interested in computers/networking/security/IT in general. You'll be so ahead of your peers its borderline OP.James Whipple

I went to their information session for surgical technician , and just from simply calling and going there I did not like the experience . I do not recommend going there if you want to be a SURGICAL TECHNICIAN. They want you to pay around 500$ before even getting accepted and it’s non refundable, a tour is not included in the session and I saw a review on here that a surgical technician said there was a 20% passing rate I asked the lady and she pretended like she knew nothing about , she just said they had a really bad dropout rate because students “couldn’t handle it” and that’s why they’re making people who to get in a program take a 4 hour long test. As well as a 2 hour long test . I have never written a bad google review but I really hope nobody wastes their money on this program and not even to know if you’re getting accepted . The only good side of this school is that it’s in a nice area and the interior is very clean and nice . Unless you want to share majority of the college with high school students I don’t recommend you going here.Elianna Corona

“I could not be prouder” I have to say without Club Z my daughter would have struggled, and I am glad to have invested in her efforts and will be investing in both my daughters every year from here to keep them focused and always learning. Lacy was not doing well in her third set of weeks in math (almost failing) and without Club Z she would have struggled further. I am proud to say my little girl triumphed the last for weeks with a “B” average for the school year. Teachers were in awe of her performance and could not believe over time how she triumphed after one talk with her parents and teacher. She made the honor role and I could not be prouder. I am new to the area – recently moved to LWR from Fairfield, CT. We always used tutors but never saw results or were able to track if it was working. We met Christina at Sylvan and learned about the Philosophy Sylvan uses and instantly loved it. My kids are 8/10 years old and they go Monday to Thursday and LOVE IT!! They ask me if they can go. I have been saying this since I was in school: Somebody had better get serious about educating our young people. The first red flag about this school should have been to me is the bad website from the late 1990s. It's Geocities feel and look and the second red flag "100% job placement" "Reading the fine print on job placement in this school"employed for a least 1 day , It means working in fast food aka flipping burgers " You not going to get a job in the subject that you study trust me.Nearly half of working Americans with degrees are in jobs for which they're overqualified that $30,000 to $60,000 a year is not going to happen.. It more like 16k working at a best buy,office depot or a restaurant working for peanuts. Some of the teacher here are in over their head about what there job is. Its really a shame the way they advantage of people who are only trying to better there lives. trust me how you learn is by reading the book and doing homework and the other students are the ones that help you out. I put that Computer Systems Technology , Information Technology degrees and Commercial Art degrees to good use as cage liner for the dogs. The real crooks in the for-profit education business turn out more "graduates" than the market can absorb. Lindsay on a whole is the reason why I gave this a 3 star . The teacher I had I like a lot . He knew what he was doing . He made it worth coming to school. The office where you register thoes people act like they don't care about nothing . Almost as if they hate their job. Nothing friendly about them at all. They give you minimal info. Ms . Gray , she runs financial aid . She's a sweetheart . She always on the go . She may look extremely busy at times but she is quick to help a student out with almost any question about your program . Lindsey Hopkins Technical Education Center is a valuable asset to Miami-Dade county. Lindsey Tech has the potential to be a great institution. I attended the Fashion program in 2012. I recieved my certification from Lindsey, and i'm now attending The Academy of Art in San Francisco, which is rated as one of the best Fashion programs in the world. I can with all honesty say that Mrs. Benoit's Fashion program at Lindsey is world class. She coverd and taught us everything that I am seeing now at the Academy of Art.lebendana

So I ended up quitting the Cosmetology program due to many of reasons that I feel derived from the fact that I approached the department heads and the instructors about doing my texture hair which is consider course in the text book not "Ethnic" as the instructors use. I was told by one instructor that doing my texture hair is a specialty and was even Pointed out within a discussion with a Salon owner which I found odd and indirect to say the least. As a African American there are certain products used such as oils that we should be able to use without being told that "Why buy the products when they are going to just sit on the shelf". Further more for my instructor to come up on me and tell me my hair looks "thirsty" was not a joking matter considering I washed my hair with shampoo that isn't for moisture of my texture hair nor is it provided in the salon. Majority of the women/girls were not of my texture hair and could get services done on their hair with no issue. It began a class off 4 African American students but one dropped the course due to one of the instructors asking the 2 to remove their dreadlocks to get their hair washed in which she denies. I sat before 2 department heads and my instructors to address my concerns as well as input from other students within the class and continued after it was uncomfortable feel in the class to the point I received a "0" on a assignment in which the directions were on the board which is not the then said instructions by the instructors. Clearly if any one of them did not know anything about care of course hair it should have been said. There have been a few in the community that have reached out to this school in the past to teach how to care for hair such as "Ethnic" and have been rejected. Honestly one of the best experiences I've ever had. Because of my instructors and the rest of the staff at WTC my future look great. Even at 35 your never to old to learn a new trade or skill. There welding program is highly affordable and you will learn more than you expect to and more than you would at any of the top welding schools out there. I highly recommend WTC welding to both men and woman. If your not sure what you want to do in life and are hands on..don't waste time and money on college. Learn a trade in a quarter of the time. Taking the GED classes is honestly a joke. Teacher doesn't teach if she does "teach" her answers are wrong. Pushes you when you aren't ready You ask for help sits you in front of a computer. Talks behind other students backs. Can't control her class. Underage students will wonder around for around 30 to 40 mins. Everyone talks or goofs off. When I signed up I was told "she's our best ged teacher" that's false. Might as well just do it on a computer at home.K K

I use to be a student here in the GED prep classes and a previous student of the month, due to mental health and physically health issues missed too many consecutive days in a row. I had to register again/pay a fee. The deen himself wanted to talk to me gave me a scolding on where my life was going because I missed school, interrupted me when I tried to explain myself and told me he didn't want to hear my "excuses" when I tried to confide in him that I was struggling with major depression. I also had a very inappropriate comment told to me when I was planning on not register again for fall classes by one of the men the administration office when i told him i was planning to put my ged on hold and move states for a job opportunity and he basically told me i was going to throw my life away but the real kicker was that he said i had so much potential and that i was " the right color" and could get far in life with an education. This made me so uncomfortable and was beyond inappropriate I was speechless i could not get out of there fast enough. This school's saving grace was Mr. Cribb and Miss DeJesus. They worked so hard with me truly believed i had potential to be brilliant and i'll never forget all the kindness they treated me with me went out of their way to listen and explain things to me.Emily

If you come to this program for Pharmacy Tech DO NOT DO IT!!!!! I REPEAT DO NOT DO IT! This is the worst most unorganized program ever. They dont teach you and it will take forever to get internship! I have been waiting for a month to get retail internship. They tell you about hospital internship and most students don't go because they don't have space. Everybody plays the blame game from administration, financial aid, and teachers. Nobody knows whats going on its like the faculty at this program don't know anything about pharmacy tech! Just a complete mess. You find out that you pay for all these things they don't tell you in the beginning when signing up for program. I currently am a student in the enterprise desktop and mobile support class. And I gotta say it’s helped me so much learn about fixing computers and phones and troubleshooting them. Along with network issues. It’s a good program and recommend going here for it. I don’t know much about the medical area at the school but as far as the technical/computer part goes it’s really good. Could use some upgrading and more effort into it as the labs and stuff are old windows 7 labs when hardly anyone uses it anymore. But other than that can’t complain. Some of teachers help you some don’t, some care more than others. It’s college what more can I say. Just enjoy what you’re doing and it shouldn’t matter what program you’re in.Alex D

Its like that greasy feeling of sunscreen on your skin, but you still got sunburned and now your family wants to go out to eat but you have sand in your shoes… while needing aloe. This is how this school feels. Good school, got my associates from here with a 3.8 and never had any issues until now, trying to enroll in other schools. The upsetting part is that this school continues to outsource to third parties for pretty critical matters. BankMobile for a tuition refund? Why? Kinda sketch what you have to do to get a refund from your school. Want a transcript? Sign up for Parchment. Why? It wasn't like that 3 months prior to writing this review, not sure why I need to sign up for a third party service to get a college transcript from the correlating school. These aren't huge issues, but this is pretty frustrating constantly having to enlist an email address into a service I will use precisely one time in my entire life; especially when the school is more than capable handling these matters on its own. I have been trying to get my twins into SCF Collegiate School since they were going into 6th grade. They are in 8th now and they still have not gotten in. Last year my daughter was number 2 on the waiting list for practically the whole school year. I know it's a lottery and it's luck if you get in or not, but I know someone that her daughter was called and she wasn't even up, so I think that my twins are being passed because it's 2 of them. They rather take two kids from two different families then one family. I have at least 5 coworkers that have a family member or a friend that applied for the first time and they get in right away. I even emailed them about this and no one had the decency to email me back. I was really hoping to get my twins in before they go to high school. As a parent you try to get your children the best education possible, but there always seem to be obstacles in the way unless you got money to grease someones hand.Y. Roman

There are few token professors I can say who were "adequate" here, my past several years here dealing with the staff and faculty has been a nightmare. Specific staff members will tell you one piece of information and then another will say the exact opposite. Several of the teacher's are completely incompetent's when it comes to deadlines and teaching the students as well as preparing them in the correct manner to pass the exams. You are always told to file complaints which get you nowhere and the teachers and staff continue to do whatever they want. I do not like leaving bad feedback whatsoever but whoever the hell hired the staff at this place is a dummy! Experienced a RUDE welcome and a teacher helped me to the front desk (because i was lost) and the lady in front pretty much yelled at him for speaking before me NOT knowing he was helping me! Super rude and just plain out MEAN. The staff in the front were all standing around not doing a damn thing but gossiping in spanish which they thought I didnt understand probably because the color of my skin but I am 100% puerto rican and understood 100% of what they were discussing mind you none of it was education related. I took the GED classes for math a few years ago and it was a wonderful experience. The staff, specially the director Chris were so nice and helpful. The best teacher Ms. Herman was awesome. Always a great experience coming here. I am just finishing up my Industrial Technology class, which is my 2nd class i graduated from here. I am now a certified Machinist and CAD Operator. I started working part time while in school, since my instructor found someone who needed help. I'm now working full time as a cad/cam operator and a back up machinist. I'm thinking about coming back to take another course while i have the chance. I highly recommend this school to anyone looking to further their education. If you like making things try out machining and industrial tech., both instructors have a treasure trove of information which is very helpful in the real world. I recently graduated from MTI’s web development program. It was an 11 month program and I was able to afford the tuition on a waitress’s income. All of the instructors are extremely knowledgeable and always keep their curriculum up-to-date with the industry’s current needs which is very important since technology is always changing. We were given many opportunities to apply our skills in real-world projects. The only negative thing I can say about the program is that you are sharing class time with your juniors or seniors but, my instructor was very good at managing both groups and addressing every students needs. It is a small price to pay for such an informative and inexpensive degree in under a year.Kirstine (KC) Foster

Wish I would’ve read some of the reviews before enrolling here. Website says the CSIT Program is hands-on, instructor led with some other resources. Meanwhile, we have done no hands on, nor much instructor led anything. Mostly Becaus we don’t have an instructor, at least not one that is qualified to teach this class and the one that is qualified is too busy with the cyber security and OCP D classes to be in our class. Unfortunately I am too far in to withdraw now because I won’t get any of my money back. Maybe time to get a lawyer and sue for false advertising. This is a glorified self-study program, you can pay half the price and go through CompTIAB

I was in the practical nursing department. I had an instructor named Dawn. She never taught us any clinical skills in the lab or in the hospital. She kept talking about weddings and what she thought we thought about weddings. I just now looked her name up eight years later and realize she is a wedding decorator. She was decorating weddings instead of teaching us what we needed to do and she gave us all F’s on our clinicals andSaid don’t worry you have to have an F at first and then it’ll turn into an A. I disagree. All of her students failed exam after exam and I got all A’s and B’s. I began to use the knowledge I learned in the textbook at the hospital. On a couple of floors employees stated “she is awesome. She will succeed.” Dawn wanted to understand why they felt that way. They said all of your students play on their phones but her. She is trying nursing skills. It is a mess. I was thrown out for being late a few times which is understandable however they said I did not have my clinical hours when Dawn for the first month decided that she wanted us to only do clinicals. I had forgotten this detail. They said they had to throw me out because I didn’t have clinical hours when she decided she want didn’t want to do class at all. Dawn Wanted us to only do clinicals for the first eight weeks so I had not missed clinical hours. I really had because Don sat on her computer the whole time. She ended up getting me kicked out and she did not teach anyone anything I hope she’s not still teaching there. She did not even know what MMHG means. Millimeters of mercury. The pressure in our bodies is tested by the way mercury moves. She did not know anything at all and did not care and sat in the hospitals on her computer designing weddings. She never taught us a single clinical skills. She began with 20 students or something like that and ended up with three or four. I am so disappointed as this was my last government grant I could have. I went to SCF and i was given such amazing knowledge in a short amount of time. If Dawn Was terminated I would like to have another chance at the nursing program. Thank you. I am disgusted and hunted this whole time. I was kicked out of the program for a few absences when I did way more clinical hours and exhausted myself so she could sit on her computer. I was too emotionally overwhelmed to let them know hey we did clinicals for 8 to 10 weeks straight because she didn’t like teaching the book. I assume that was because she was called out for her wrong information several times by me and one other woman. No, that’s probably not true. She wanted to sit on her computer and develop her business rather than teach us how to do clinical skills.Bridgette Bianchi

My son was the first class to graduate from the Paramedic Program. He and a few of his friends who had just graduated from the local fire academy were planning to attend a different Paramedic Program however they were constantly being approached by the dept head/instructor of the program at CTC to attend her very first class. Although they were concerned that this was the very first class, they were promised that the program was going to be accredited within a year and that they would be able to take their Paramedic anywhere after passing the National Registry Exam! This we just learned is completely FALSE! My son passed the state exam, worked for 1.5 yrs in the field, just took the National Exam and passed only to learn that the school has not been accredited and has not started the process! We relocated back home to MA shortly after passing his National Exam. 2 very amazing Fire Depts offered him positions which he had to decline after learning his certification is worth nothing outside of the State of FL!!! I am sickened to think of the time and money lost. People that choose this career put the lives of others first. They are brave heroes! In this time when we need more first responders, my son can’t practice! Shame on this school! Shame on the depth head! Please look into this program before committing! You never know where life takes you and you certainly don’t want to be left having do the program all over again!Cherie Fickett

The campus is very convoluted they have the technical college they have the County Public School office they have the main campus they have modular units the buildings are kind of poorly labeled I'm not really sure I'm trying to find the Welcome Center and I'm having a hard time signs that give you directions our place to put their very spaced out and I'm not putting down the school as a whole cuz I don't know the actual School itself but I know I've been turned around twice by the sign maybe it's just me not usually bad with directions but overall the campus Little Messi I've seen some trash grasses and cut good and I know being a technical school there's definitely some kids that can bust out the lawn mowers and weed wackers pressure washers I see some moldy stuff everywhere and being a technical school I know these kids to do it for free but other than that the front of the building looks cool I like the layout and I like the overall shapes and Contours the trees with the Weeping moss and it looks very Floridamatthew greeenwood

We almost made it 6 years at Suncoast. I think more because we kept our heads down, based on other parent feedback/warnings about the principal. We never had issues, so I thought the warnings were just gossip until it happened to us. If one parent is not allowed to pick up their child during a family emergency, due to safety policy, but another child is put on the bus because a note from the parent and a reminder from the child, who is begging not to be put on the bus is disregarded and that child is left at a bus stop alone, where is the safety? They are not concerned with what happens after the rush your child onto the bus. Bullying needs to be taken much more seriously. My daughter was bullied on more than one occasion. As soon as we became aware, we notified the principal. A comment was made that he urges all parents to notify immediately. We had found out 3 weeks after it happened and that is when we made him aware. Then, I was told "it's just teasing." You have to be kidding me. I was not allowed to know if the offending child's parents had even been notified. I was told to trust him. Well, the outcome was that my daughter had to move her seat. Not the offending child. Again, you have to be kidding me. Where are the victim's rights in all of this? Why is the principal not taking it seriously and if he is, why is the child in question not being moved. Lastly, the attitudes of some of the staff could use a major adjustment. They have a "better than" or arrogant undertone. Mrs. Mills and a handful of the teachers were very kind, I will say. Some teachers have no business teaching, based on feedback from several students, but I am told the principal backs all teachers 100% right or wrong because he selects them. There are many clicks, not just between the children, but between the staff and the parents they really like. The principal feels he is always right, there is no room to improve processes, or consider changes because all of his processes are perfect. Scary! We had just had it. The writing was on the wall 2 weeks into 5th grade. Our child is now a student at Ashton and let me tell you, from the first day we met the school staff and learned of their policies and who they were as people, to today, it is night and day. Wish we had changed sooner.Joanna O

Heard so many great things about this school, so when we moved school districts and lived close to the school it was a no brainer. The orientation was okay, the principal seemed to take a direct approach (which I appreciate) although it was a little too brash overall. We have 2 kids (2nd & 6th) enrolled. The front “office” staff (at the elementary school) was generally uncaring, I never saw anyone make a point to make you feel welcome upon entering the school. My youngest son told me about an incident when he was made to wait outside the class until he could tie his shoe. He asked to have another student help him but was denied, honestly it sounded like the teacher was bullying him. My oldest child, in middle school, would talk about kids being bullied. The pick up and drop off was frustrating. The supporters of the school REALLY love the school, but for us it was far more inferior to other public schools in the area.Sara T

First of all I want to say there anti bullying rules not followed completely and are mostly ignored by staff there rules for students not complying with class room rules and work are unjust it is not positive or good behavior for teachers to put middle school students on the floor in a time out like a daycare this is a form of humiliation for a student at this age ! I say this is a form of bullying they can use all the fancy terms they want to make it seem like there doing a positive thing but it’s a form of humiliation and bullying into Submission. Also if your child is on a plan they do not follow it completely either I believe it is more of an inconvenience for them I believe that they should have picked a different carrier if they do not want to teach and do the best job they can.Zuly Molina

Mr.Martion ( idk how to spell his name) was very rude and unprofessional. Yesterday I took my GED test and lost time because he and a lady in the testing center did not want to attend me. Today I called and Martino was very rude to me and told me I did not lose time because I wasn’t attended( he was arguing with me and rising his voice a bit) but I called a GED representative and they said I indeed lost time because no one attended me before my test started at 1:30….. I was stilling waiting to take my test at 1:35 and still no one came to help me. I only got 60 minutes for my test and I had to guess on multiple questions although I did pass I was not given enough time and got a low passing score when I knew I could have gotten a High score and college credit. this is not the first time I or my boyfriend had problems with him either restaff or set him straight!Snagurr

I only gave two stars because I graduated from the high school side. Outside of my school experience, as a customer their automotive collusion side isn't good. If you choose to being your car there because you graduated from the school (or not) DO NOT take it over there. After they got my car they didn't check everything like the teacher said he and his students did. Plus at a ACTUAL auto shop the workers are NOT supposed to get in contact with their customers over their personal cellphones only through a company phone(don't tell me other wise because I did my research). It's weird/wrong they made me pay about 4000 for things they didn't fix under my hood.Selena Young

I am currently enrolled in the aviation program the program is basically run by no one there’s no organization we sit around doing nothing a lot of the time because they’re understaffed. They have had the same teacher for about 10 years who just currently left and was messing up on documentation and would lose students information moral of the story is this school is a disaster don’t get caught in the trap!!!!!! The woman named Judy, who is supposed to help with Sarasota County, really is not of any help at all. I’m sure she has a hard job but that’s no way to treat people like she does. Maybe it’s time to retire or find a new job yourself if you are that tired of it. I was nice to you but you did not return the favor. It’s a shame that new job seekers end up feeling so poorly after speaking with you. There’s no reason to make someone feel more down than they already are. I will not be using them or recommending them in the future. I advise you to find other solutions outside of this resource.Alissa Joy

The ladies that that assisted me were knowledgeable and patient into a degree very nice beyond their necessary means of being nice because trust me when you get a bunch of idiots in there on the computer system that don't know how to work it and they're working three or four people at a time and they do it with the kindness of voice it's nice cuz we're all frustrated and raising blow up to something or eat something down or whatever but they were always just level-headed and calm very nice experienceTerry Bostian

The most incompetent group of people chosen to “help” individuals in search of a scholarship. You should apply for the scholarship a minimum of 3 months in advance. They do not call you, you will literally have to hunt down the people tasked to you. From their most senior employees to the rookies it’s all a waste of time and government resources. By far the worst experience and I’m referring to the Sarasota location. I doubt any of the other locations are any better.Ruthlie Datus
