Most of the bad reviews are coming from people who had ONE bad experience at like the book store or whatever or i gEt tHiEr aDs oN hUlu, though the veteran who shared his story probably has a decent case to make. Anyway I got a business degree from this college and if you actually try you can do really really well here, with great professors and programs like the honors program which gives high level learning at bottom dollar, and wonderful faculty like the folks at PTK, disability services, or the Fuller Center. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to work on regarding graduation rates, the food, no one card system, etc but I couldn't give this place anything less than 5 stars because of all of the wonderful people who give 110% here, especially in those departments I mentioned. If you live in Worcester don't spend 30k a year to go to Assumption, you'll save so much money to come here. Seek opportunity, study for your tests, respect your professors and faculty, and most importantly, do your damn homework; I guarantee you'll be a success at this place if you do all of these things.Clark Kent

The qcc "police" are some of the most unqualified and unempathetic people in the area. There is no doubt they have no training, no expertise in law and zero idea of what they are doing. Maybe they should take some courses while they work their jobs at qcc in criminal justice. Maybe they can get a handle on their jobs. This is an awesome school and I am so disappointed that one teacher ruined it all for me. DO NOT take Professor Jane Joyce accounting classes or any classes from her. She is awful and not a good teacher in general. You will waist your money, time, and probably want to rip your hair out when she talks. I have to be honest about this. Good college when it comes to campus design, some Professor's teaching skills, and assistance for school related issues. Although, the school teaches bad ethics. For example, sports lack discipline. They will teach there athletes to run score boards up. Up by 20 in a basketball game with 3mins to go, they will shoot more three point shots than Steve Kerr. The most alarming thing is faculty will participate in Hazing students. I've watch this with my own two eyes. Call them out on it, and they will just deny it, at least my professor did. I am currently a student there, who help form a club, in order to help students get there basic needs to become a successful student. So just remember, good campus design, some Professors have good teaching styles, good for resources, but terrible place to learn good ethics. To me learning good ethics and applying them is one of the most important, or the most important thing to learn as a student. Would not be the first school I would want to send my child to. My alma mater which will always be in my heart till it stop beating (that might sound too dramatic) but hey that’s the truth! I learned a lot, got tons of experiences, got so many American and International friends, exchanged culture and collected precious moments in this place. I really miss the college, my friends, the clubs, the library, single stop, the cafeteria and most importantly I miss my coordinator when I was in a scholarship Program and of course I really miss the professors. I do recommend this college as an affordable and easy starting point but be ready to encounter many hurdles in your way and a lot of incompetent staff. Make sure to double check everything you do here, especially the financial aid part. The professors are nice but it’s on you to actually learn the material, the professors rarely will make sure you learned anything. It’s a 3 star college. The School of Continuing Education at Providence College is a great place to get another degree or get the degree you have been striving to get but the timing was never. The staff and faculty at SCE are always willing to lend a helping hand and guide you through the process of getting a degree! I enrolled my daughter in the reading program because she had fallen behind due to COVID and a lack of confidence. In the few weeks she has been enrolled she has made great advances. Gail and the staff at Sylvan Learning Center of Cumberland have been the catalyst my daughter needed to help her catch up with grade level curriculum and stay on track with her peers. School has never been easy for my child, but Sylvan was able provide her with a program that allowed her to work at a comfortable pace while still challenging her. The tutoring she has received at Sylvan of Cumberland has not only improved her grades, it has improved her confidence. That in itself is priceless. I went to Sylvan looking to improve my SAT scores and test-taking skills. The knowledge, strategies, and confidence I gained during my time at Sylvan exceeded my expectations. I honestly recommend this place to all my friends and family. I am so happy with the progress my daughter has made here at The Children’s Workshop in Providence. The teachers are all welcoming and friendly and it genuinely feels like a family. They treat my daughter as if she is one of their own. I enjoy getting pictures and reports of what my daughter has done throughout the day and week, what new things she has learned and what projects they have done. My daugher started in June 2018 when she turned 3, and she has already learned her months and recognizes letters of her name. She is in preschool and we love her teacher Ms. Raidiris!! They have many activities for our daughter. I do wish the parking lot was bigger! my daughter wishes the playground had a slide and climbing wall, so i make sure we visit the playground by our home. My son has been there for 3 years they decide to disenroll my son without a say these people are the worst, no training, no education, only one registered teacher. My son didn’t learn anything in the 3 years he has been provided supposedly care just plain liers my son was bullied there and of course they lie about it. Absolutely terrible. Nurses/front desk clerks don’t care. Every time I call, I feel like I am bothering them. I have a new doctor every time I go there. Doctors NEVER fill your medications on time!! I always have to call and remind them five times, then when they finally do, they put the wrong date on your prescription, so you have to wait two more days before you get your meds. I also have been trying to make a dentist appointment for six months now, And they keep saying the schedule is completely full and I have to call back in a couple of months, but when I call back, they repeat the same thing!!! I have been going to the man dentist since I was a little girl, and he STILL does not know my name. He is not friendly at all. I wish I had better health insurance because I HATE it here. They're NOT a patient-centered organization. They’re all over the place!!! I would rather pay out of pocket for patient-centered good quality care then go here for free. SCREW THIS PLACE. It is all well and good to honor someone….who does their job. I thought this agency was to help the elderly so here goes: how do you leave a 92 yr old without proper running water…..over a yr, not paying bills because they ran out of checks, and due to COVID and homebound, have no idea how to navigate the bank system when banks closed. How do you leave someone with no running washer to wash clothes….how do you say they have dementia when you HAVE NOT SPOKEN TO THEM TO FIND OUT WHAT IS WRONG! Boggles my mind as a retired nurse how this agency employs ppl who never interact with ppl they are assigned to! Or do a home check to talk to the elderly…..then they WOULD see the conditions for which they were called upon! And let us not mention the meds causing mental issues in doses not allowed or meds not allowed for the elderly…..all this would have been caught upon ONE SINGLE HOME VISIT!Captain Ida

So today September 20th I had a medical doctors appointment for 1230 I arrived at 1225 and was told to check in on my phone but if it takes me until 1245 to finish my check in i would have to reschedule so I finished my phone check in at around 1237 I didn’t realize when I finished checking in on my phone I was supposed to go back to the window so at 1239 I was asked if I finished and indeed I finished at 1237 so I sat and waited till 1pm and was told I had to reschedule because I didn’t finish my check in on time even though I was told if I didn’t finish by 1245 I would have to reschedule so I basically wasted a whole day for nothing I would highly recommend seeking medical attention elsewhere other than this place hence the word check in on my phone so why would I have to check in a second time at the windowShaun Oneill

If your looking for assistance to get green card look the other way! You get what you pay for! Customer service is horrible! They will complain how they have a lot of work and when they get to you they get to you(not our problem this is your job and what you signed up for) I asked for supervisors contact info 3 times and still was not given to me. I had to call front desk and ask to transfer and thats when the girl emailed me with supervisor info! Then lied and said email was sent in the am(it was sent after I called). The girl(assistant) that was handling my case was very rude and unprofessional! She breached contract and shared information regarding my case with other people that did not work there(on contract that Both parties signed says they cannot do that). The assistant never returned my phone calls well I have to say after I spoke with the supervisor she answered every call and was professional(got to give credit when due). I had to chase her for 3 months. So if you need to do I-130 go to a real lawyer because the person that you would deal with is horrible has a very bad attitude and will talk bad about you and your case to other people and will pro long it!Anita Anita

I have to say, is very unusual for me to leave a review anywhere BUT, yesterday I went to the city hall to submit my marriage documents, to my surprise it needed to be translated by Dorcas Institute ONLY. I went to Dorcas and they closed at 12pm until January for the Holidays… this is where my GREAT experience started, the receptionist called Mike, and he said to send us upstairs. I’m not going into details but just know that Mike was by himself, and he made it happen! Mike, thank you so much!!! You were AMAZING! The phone operator was so rude. All the time me and my family call in she didn't want to talk to us and she doesn't have any knowledge of her job. Last time I called in 2times in a short period then she started yelling at me. I have very mixed emotions about this place, when we physically go there we are usually helped. If we call, we can't get anyone we need to talk to and we play phone tag for weeks before anything is accomplished. Truthfully have nothing bad to say about this place. I took my phlebotomy class there where it was held for the first time and thought the teachers where greate for what they where given for there first go at it. It was fast pace definitely took up alot of your time so it takes commitment. But the good always has a bad and that to me and some of the other students/classmates after talking with them is we should have started practicing arm draws sooner it was kinda nerve racking for some of us and waiting for what seem to take forever after the class for your clinical's to start (that was a biggie). But even with that I'll give it a 5 star hands down. As I said it was there first go at it. I'm currently taking the medtech class I'll let yall know how that goes.Jesus R

Our daughter attends pre-K at Henry Barnard and she loves going to school. Her teacher is wonderful – I can’t speak highly enough of her. I love the educational philosophy and the school has so many great things to offer – each week they have tech ed, art and Spanish for example. If I could rate them negative stars I would. The most unhelpful staff you could ever imagine. Don’t think you will get anywhere with any of them. I would rather eat a Jean jacket then have to deal with them. If you have an attitude and can’t seem to provide the proper support and help to the students don’t take the job. This place is a joke. I took intro to Sustainable and Green Energy Technologies and we had barely any homework the whole semester, then at the end he gives us 2 projects both 10 pages long. We learned nothing the whole semester so how are we supposed to make a project on solar panels. It was 50% of our grade but too late to drop the class. Some of the staff are good but some just don't answer emails and you're guessing the whole time about your grade.miley piedi

I took an EMT program a little while ago here and it was lousy. The textbook that my professor shoved down my throat was a waste of money cause everything was online but at least the college got their 500 bucks for that. And then there was the terrible program itself. Professor was whatever, the content was disorganized but hey… at least the college got a solid 2,000 bucks off of it. If cost were not a consideration, I can't see why anyone would go to RIC. RIC has gotten into the business of exploiting working/lower middle class "first generation" students, luring them with claims of you're-getting-an-Ivy-league-education-here-for-bottom-dollar. Many other reviewers here are students who over-idealize RIC because they don't know it any other way. As a four-year college, RIC consistently ranks at the BOTTOM of college rankings (not just US News, but Forbes and Wall Street Journal, too). And just look at the graduation rate of 51%. Everyone knows that students trying to put their way through school with two jobs often drop out, but is that the only factor? I doubt it. Look at the average RIC graduate's salary, it's less than $40,000 ten years after graduation! That’s the lowest of all four-year colleges in R.I. Indeed, you get what you pay for at RIC! Never mind this excuse, "our graduates take lower paid jobs as nurses, teachers, and social workers." Other schools, like Salve and URI, have grads entering those fields and their avg. salaries aren't so pitiful! Other than nursing (which does pay well these days), accounting, finance, social work, and the arts majors, most of the other 90 programs are a joke. Why? Sure, there are lazy pothead students, like everywhere else. Other students struggle academically, coming from low performing high schools. But the real problem is the faculty (I mean the tenured ones). Many faculty put little effort into teaching and being accessible to students. Instead, they claim they're too busy with their "research," as if they're "experts" working at a major public research institution (like UConn, Rutgers, or Michigan), where they'd rely on teaching assistants to help teach the class. What kind of research do they do? I really don't know, as you don't usually pick up The New York Times or The Atlantic and read: "according to a Rhode Island College study…" Many of these faculty are pompous, deadwood, liberal elites who use their taxpayer-funded ivory tower as a job for life as they thumb their noses at students. I graduated from RIC 15 years ago, though I took some courses there since and kept tabs on the place. So I'm comfortable saying: math, philosophy, and English depts. were especially bad. Most programs in communications are awful. Political science is very mixed, psychology seemed OK. But what about majoring in education, the biggest deal RIC has going? It got some awful ratings last year when the R.I. Dept. of Ed. did its review. A few School of Ed grad programs lost accreditation and undergrad ones were put on probation. Of course, after many years of bordering on dilapidated, I’m sure the campus is looking better every day, the question is: how it’s ever going to be paid for (the bond issue was only for Gaige, Craig Lee, and Fogarty’s nursing lab). Enrollment and donations were down by the time Carrioulo got the boot 2 years ago. Unfortunately, I don’t have much confidence in Sanchez, as all he seems to care about is the politically correct diversity agenda (when RIC doesn't exactly have a diversity problem with so many urban students attending). Regardless of their background, most students should just save their time (as it almost always takes well over 4 years to graduate from RIC) and money. The best alternatives (if you want an actual job after college) are the 2 year career and technical programs at CCRI or NE Tech. Or, just go to URI, which has a much better reputation (and still has in-state discounts).Bob Richard

It's a nice college, but do your research before you sign up for the professor! It's only my second semester and I had to change this review. Some things have changed, classes are getting better but it was mostly because I looked up the professors on that 'ratemyprofessor' website. Not all of them are bad people. There's a lot of DR. I graduated from RIC back in 2015 and am now attending graduate school. I have so many great memories and had such a great experience here. I had attended two other colleges while trying to decide on a career path and RIC finally felt like home. Great professors and classes. Small safe campus that’s easy to navigate while still being close enough to the city/things to do. I lived in New Hall and everything was new, spacious and updated. Terrible customer service. I took out a large novel that takes time to read (when you have kids and a full time job). I renewed it once and called to have it renewed a second time. The woman at the circulation desk could not have been more rude. I only needed it for a few more days. It was a novel from the 1940's that is probably taken out once every five years. There was no waiting list for the book. She would not allow me to renew it over the phone. Said I had to return it, wait until it went back on the shelf and then take it out again. I visit all the Rhode Island CLAN libraries and this is the only one that did not let me renew a second time over the phone. And her whole tone was snotty and crude. Everyone in the library is quiet-except the librarians!!! The circulation desk is so noisy. People renting books and movies at that desk are pretty loud, ok I understand that and it is only for a minute. But besides that, the librarians sitting at that desk DO NOT STOP TALKING and loud too! When people are looking they should be quieter too and perhaps there should be a sign. The librarians, however, are the main issue.Katie Brown

Library and use of it on home computer is great, but this is the LOUDEST library I have ever been in. Right now I'm listening to 2 person talk loudly about China and last time I had to listen to a complete cell phone conversation. This always is the case here and staff does nothing. What a great children's section and resource! I met with Edilberta Trejo for things to do with my elementary school friend. She had some amazing projects with supplies, paper projects including Word searches, and more. I was impressed with her enthusiasm and super friendly attitude. It's not easy during Covid with shorter time in the library and other places. However, give this woman a sense of what your looking for and she is on it! Fantastic technical school! Really this place is where dreams come to be narrowed down. I came in my freshman year thinking "I can do anything!"; I left thinking "I can do maybe eight things" much more manageable. The teachers are all very helpful, understanding of their subjects, and good with students. As far as I can tell there's only one problem with this school: the SPAGHETTI! I didn't even get to try it! Phil locked it up in the fridge and didn't share with anyone. Even if I did get to try it I'm sure it would be cold, sticky, and taste like it was in the fridge. Come on Phil you really dropped the meatball on this one. As one final remark, it's a great school, but the location, it's right in the middle of the SPAGHETTO! I've only ever gone here for the food pantry. Everyone is incredibly kind and welcoming. They do baskets for Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner, which is very helpful. You need to call to set up an appointment and they usually get you in within a couple weeks.Trina Hawkinson
