A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. I really can’t explain what I went through with the staff, so unprofessional and the attitude is horrible I always try to be as nice as possible but the way they treat people is awful. They literally screamed at my mom who does not speak any English for not having her vaccine card with her although she had picture of the vaccine but her phone was dead they yelled at her and did not try to help her enter the building at all. Once I came and approach them they was talking to me with awful attitude and yelling at me!!!!! although I respect the policy but they always could help in situation like this making everything 10X harder and unprofessional behaviour. One of its kinda school Historic place as it is more than 100 year old school CUNY’S most iconic campus so far As building is quite old, construction is going on still it’s worth taking a walk here Lush green gardens and beautiful library plus awesome walkways and old concert hall and other buildings. edit, update: ended up coming to the conclusion that because all of this uncertanty and my bad living situation I am dropping out, I did all I could, was not met halfway by anone but professors unless I begged here. do not go here if you're poor. Just, no. I can't take it anymore. I've tried to explain my situation to this school multiple times, and I'm left to struggle on my own. I am starving, housing insecure, financially unstable, and unable to make ot to class or properly study because of financial struggle, inability to be alone a place quiet to study because they won't house, and depression. In the end they want to fail you out so you can pay them fees later, I guarantee. I'lll gladly take my review down if it's actually a thing they decide they really want to help me with, only after I have been actually helped, and not as in, money grant to help my situation I never recieve, or new housing program email I apply for and am swiftly rejected because I am not enrolled just enough just yet due to circumstances that are once again not entirely my fault because when I applied here I intended to be taking 16 credits not 7. WORST.SCHOOL.EVER!! I hope they close down for good VERY SOON! There's no motivation or inspiration at all in this school whatsoever. The counselors and teachers are horrendous!! For every 5 teachers there, only 1 teacher is decent! They hold back their students far too long from achieving their true potential and don't even get me started on the atrocious time consuming and full of adversity enrollment process!! If you're still stuck taking a remedial/non credit class; instead of being able to register online LIKE IT SHOULD BE FOR EVERY STUDENT, you're instead forced to go all the way to Valhalla to register for classes EVERY semester until you've passed ALL their pointless non credited classes! Very excruciating and appalling for any student! Their counselors are always putting down students, not one can potentially uplift you when it comes to succeeding in school. This school is entirely all a scam. Miserable place. Professors don’t care. They have people who don’t speak English teaching the math department. Those in the financial building are miserable, uninformative and rude. Nobody communicates!! Financial Tells you one thing and the counselors say something different. Totally unorganized and made my college experience a miserable one. They prioritize minorities and even questioned me on why I’m not on financial aid. Teachers WILL fail you if you don’t agree with their POLITICAL views. Community college is supposed to be affordable, but they manage to shake you down for every little penny. I was pretty skeptical about going back to school during this plandemic and now that I’m back in school, I wish I would’ve saved my money. The website says lab classes will be conducted online but it’s actually remote. If you want to pay full tuition for a partial education, then this is the place for you. The people who work in the administrative building specifically the Bursar’s office don’t care. The administrative building is physically closed so the only way to communicate is via email. School only wants your money. Especially if you’re going for your A&P. They make you spend an extra 1,200$ for 2 classes that aren’t FAA required. And if you dont pass those two classes they wont hand you your certificates even though you completed and passed all FAA required classes. The purpose of these class is to basically force students to study so when students take their test and pass it makes the school looks good. Seems like modern day robbery for me . Also faculty dont care about students. Its either their time or no time at all. Other wise all FAA required classes are good. Please go somewhere else for A&P program.Timothy Balkaran

Engineering program is not good. Most of the professors don’t even seem like they want to teach class. Professor D. Yang would show up hours late everytime and he did not care. Other professors don’t even know how to use the zoom program or email back correctly. In lab students were forced to share tools as the equipment is outdated and most stuff doesn’t work so there is not enough equipment to accommodate the students. This is the best accredited medical school. HANDS DOWN!! At first I was a little skeptical with my choices but I thank God that I made the best decision. Went there to volunteer at their food pantry and loved it. Even though I did struggle to get inside of the building itself instead of putting us to work straight away they gave us some insight about the place as well as a tour. This school is garbage. They can’t even find teachers who want to teach here and when they do they might not even have a degree or know what they’re talking about. (GOOGLE GOES A LONG WAY) the teachers have nasty attitudes specifically Ms dascher who has been there a few years so they won’t fire her. Don’t mind making a complaint to the director it’ll get ignored. Mr Okundaye who brings his personal problems to school and tries to make you miserable right along with him (again no disciplinary action when my whole class told the school he’s a horrible teacher) They are probably all mad from the low salary they receive since the school is federally funded. BEOC is a very good school, they have TASC Program nursing tech, micro soft, college readiness. ect..i've learned a lot already in a short time . the teacher works with you in your level, and if you don't understand your class work they'll assign you to a tutor. The tutor are friendly and helpful, they help you understand the work you need help in. BEOC also has an attain lab with and ISI or AZTEC, in this Lab you can work on your own, and brush up on your weak points. the lab coordinators are also very helpful. if you need any other help with your work ,you can ask the lab coordinator or the advisor to set up a buddy group, these buddy groups are helpful because it allow you to learn from others and visaversa you can' go wrong . i have a lot of tools i can use to better myself .luz solla

Still waiting for the OSHA 30 Certificate class to start since January. They make you sign up online (really hard to navigate btw) to notify me when classes start. fast forward until today….Still no updates. I constantly try to email the offices and they keep telling me the same thing "classes do not start yet" for like the 12th time now through out the last 3 month. My hair has fallen out and breakage of my hair. That has never happened before. I am upset. I have been a faithful customer for years. When ms Wendy was the owner. Now change of ownership. Won’t be back. As a follow up to owner response. Yes, I was in your salon in February 2022. Plus I was in your salon in April, 2022. One time was for coloring. Semi permanent color. Another was for a relaxer. The last time was for color. I remember you telling me that you no longer have beautiful brown hair color. You will give me permanent hair color. I remember asking you will it make my hair fall out. I have never done permanent hair color. Always semi permanent color. You said no. It will not fall out. But my hair did fall out. I research and found out that permanent hair color has bleach in it. And it strips the hair and cause breakage. Which has happened. No I will not call you nor come back to your salon. You did have talented hair stylist whom have since graduated. On this given day, in which my hair was ruined. I was given a new stylist who must have been a beginner. HORRIBLE CUSTOMER SERVICE. I called looking to get my hair done, I was told by reception to arrive before 2:30pm. I arrived at about 1:15pm. After standing at the front desk for 10mins being completely ignored, I was finally approached by a woman. I let her know the service I was interested in getting, she rudely said I would have to come back tomorrow. I asked why as the woman on the phone said to arrive before 2:30pm. She, in a nasty tone said they didn't have enough students she did not want to over work them, which is completely understandable. She then just walked away, I asked well what time should I come back, and she responded as if I was annoying her, 9AM! The manner in which she spoke to me was completely unnecessary and uncalled for. I have been to this place 3 times and this 3rd time, they messed up my hair and didn’t even complete the work properly. They told me to come back on Monday after 6 pm. I was devastated, and I spent 9 to 5 whole day. They couldn’t even finish the job. I was in so much stress and not feeling confident at all. I couldn’t look at myself because of my hair color failure. VERY BAD JOB. I DONT recommend anybody to go to this place at all. They will make you wait and won’t even communicate properly. I have been trying to get my surgery done for YEARS! well over a decade. My insurance did not accept any of my request out of all 4 times previously applying. I decided to go to Destination Tomorrow when i found out there was a specialist for transgender women who walked through the same experiences I wish to walk through, I decided to give it another shot. I was assigned to Jahaira Gonzalez and she helped me get to the correct doctor that has experience dealing with my insurance. She also helped me with getting the right dermatologist so that I can have treatment on a issue i have been insecure about with my facial features. I have been waiting for years and years, I am so excited and cannot wait for the completion of my journey. This school has been in operation for three decades. My entire family was trained at Big Apple and we are all RN'S, LPN's and PCT's. I was a student at Grace Outreach back in 2016 – 2017. I graduated with my HSE (Completed all 5 tests (reading, writing, math, social studies, science) on the TASC Exam). They charge a one time fee and give you a calculator for the Math Exam. They also interview you to see if you are serious about sticking with the school, until completion or until its your time to graduate. So, do be serious about attending classes daily unless there is an emergency. They also give out vouchers to students with medical issues to take the elevators, so, be mindful if you don't have a voucher then you will be taking the stairs am I and many students have. My experience was a positive one and I really retained a lot of information more than any of the schools that I attended in New York. The school is absolutely great and have very encouraging teachers! They allow every student to focus on only the subjects they need and do not make students repeat any subjects they passed like previous schools I enrolled in have. The staff is wonderful and I am certain that now their has been some changes due to the pandemic to give students options for virtual classes. There is even a College Prep Program that they have (I personally attended), which really helped me to prepare for College and the exams. There are 3 exams that every student must take to enter college (reading, writing, math (includes College Algebra as well that I hope the school has incorporated in this program)). I highly recommend student to attend. There are even Career Prep help and/or training programs for students too. This means help with resumes, cover letters, elevator pitches, and even help in obtaining certificates in training such as I have obtained "Customer Service Training & Mavis Typing Speed Certificates", to name a few. And many successful people have visited the school as well, talking about their accomplishments and gives students the opportunity to even possibly work with certain companies like the abc News, etc. Also, be mindful that this is an all WOMEN'S Adult School BUT I did hear that the director of the school wanted to expand on an all MEN'S school, (which I think is a wonderful idea and really helps to prevent any distractions between the opposite sex, etc). I recommend Men and Women call this school for more information (there may be even more programs and other opportunities for jobs and school). I certainly recommend students attend if they want to quickly learn and pass their exams and obtain their High School Equivalency (HSE) diplomas. Especially if students want to continue to further their education and attend college with greater Career goals in mind. Also, NEVER BE DISCOURAGED if you do not pass your exams or if it takes a bit longer than you need, every student works at a different pace, but are all capable of passing if you take studying these subjects seriously. I have no doubt that anyone can pass these exams and go beyond in developing a great future because the environment I was in here was so positive, that it made many students like myself want to stay. I gave 4 stars because I think there can be more improvements in certain areas for the College Prep Program from what I remember, but maybe they have made some changes already, (It has been 7 years since I have been there). Overall, this is a GREAT SCHOOL for anyone, so please at least look into it and see if its the right fit for you, which I have no doubt that it is. 🙂Ari “Fury”

Looking through all of my important papers I came across my ged from 2008. I immediately started to reminisce my days at Grace Outreach. I remember Ms. Zeeky and another person at the front desk. The first time I took the test I failed and was so broken about it and had to wait 60 days to retake the test. As much as I wanted to give up every one pushed for me to study non stop and made sure I was ready to take the test again with a guarantee passing. The day I called to find out my test score and the machine answered and said I passed I couldn’t contain my happiness. I overdid myself with the test the second time around. It was a mission but the teachers at grace have a passion to help you succeed and I love that about them, they will be a little strict and on top of you but it’s only because they know what you’re capable of, they give everything they do 100%+! I went to Grace Outreach in 2016 for TASC and college prep. I learned so much from my time there and it has greatly impacted me as a person till this day. Great teachers and amazing people. Arlet taught me about writing and I always sat in her room for lunch and made sure to say bye to her before I left annnnnd I still think of her lectures even in college right now when I am writing a paper. Zeke is hilarious and made math fun. She expects participation but it honestly got me out of my shell. And it hammered the material in my head. I lowkey felt like a human calculator haha! Liz is an angel, made me feel so comfortable yet pushed me out of my comfort zone with public speaking (I am an anxious lady) and Gabriel, just a cool dude and great support during college prep. Unfortunately, I arrived to NYC in November and I was pretty excited about starting my classes there, but when it happened, I found a mediocre teacher and I got upset and disappointed because these classes were my only goal and hope of my decision to travel to NYC. Anyway, I made a formal request to get back my enrollment 's money and stuff like that and I had my money back one month after all. Then, I noticed that 100.00 usd hadn't been returned and I called them to ask about them, and staff told me that those 100.00 were destined to cover my enrollment and I was like ok it doesn't matter. Finally, when I went there to pick my book up (because I didn't want to lose my money), they gave me a book supposedly that they are used to use in Level 8 (The Level 8 is the highest level), so I just checked this book with my teacher and it was the last straw! Unbelievable, there is grammar for learning B1 Level, I'm shocked and thankful to would have left this school. I'm going to show you my book. There are two options, or staff personal gave me a wrong book, or the academic level in this school is too bad for learners. I've studied at NYLC for 1 year and a half and I feel very lucky by choosing this place to improve my English. All members working there were very friendly and helpful and the classes always entertaining. If I would be given a chance to take additional classes I would certainly choose again NYLC, because is not only a place where you can improve your English skills, but it's also a place where you can find gregarious people, sincere friendship and great tips for living in NYC.juliana molina

I just finished studying at NYLC and it was an amazing experience. It helped me to improve my English and gave me the necessary tools to be more confident when I have to talk to others. This new fitness and educational facility located in the northeast Bronx opened with fanfare on October 21 2021 with guest speakers Vice President Karmala Harris and NY Governor Kathy Hochul, to name a few. This state-of-the-art complex features a variety of meeting rooms, fitness rooms, a large lap pool, a wading pool, gymnasium, steam room, sauna and more. The full potential and scope of this facility are yet to be realized as the complex is not fully staff at this time. For example, the facility features a state-of-the-art kitchen classroom that would have chef Ramsay drooling with envy. They are currently looking for a chef to lead the program. This complex is truly impressive and is certain to attract members from local area fitness centers. Watch out Blink and Planet Fitness.Henry Collins

Joined for their summer membership. Only $120 from May 31-August 31 for individuals and $180 for a family membership. When I walked in the staff was very kind and welcoming and assisted me with fixing technical glitch that had me signed up for the Castle Hill location. Cookie and Verna were great answering questions, showing me how to sign up for classes via the app and resolving the membership location issue quickly. I was able to enjoy a group class (Step and Sculpt), which was almost to capacity 28/30 participants. The instructor was good. Kept me motivated and moving without overdoing it. The music selection was also fantastic. The facility was very clean and well cared for. Thank you to the cleaning staff doing a great job! I really appreciate your hard work.Gabriella Rodriguez

Finally! a YMCA in the Northeast of the Bronx…Yippee 🤗 This is a 'state of the art' YMCA the gym has great equipment that are 'top of the line', the swimming pools could be larger but they are still great. There's a large basketball court and facility occupies 3 floors not counting the basement rooms which are use for summer school programs..there are alot of exercise classes available for everyone young or old. I gave 4stars, because the method of signing up for classes needs to be revisited🤭……but apart from that BEAUTIFUL facility!Amazing Grace

Classroom is overcrowded and poorly ventilated. Caught Covid from there and no testing or vaccine proof required. Shame on them that removed my review and covered up students Covid cases. They don’t accept blame when they are wrong!Yannick K

Took the PANCE exam at this site. Pros: It was easy to find using GPS. There is a gated & monitored parking lot available. Rates vary but my exam was 6 hours in total so I paid “$15 for up to 10 hrs”. The staff was professional & timely. They provide you with access to a medium sized locker. You can easily fit a coat, lunch, snacks & water inside. You also get a set of disposable ear plugs and dry erase marker + board (for notes). Cons: I wore three layers on top in anticipation of it possibly being a bit chilly or warm (I can remove) in the testing room. It was around 35 degrees on the day of my test. The room is FREEZING! If you’re taking an exam in the fall/winter -WEAR A LOT OF LAYERS! They don’t allow jackets coats or scarfs inside the testing room. The A/C was on full blast. I asked the proctor if they could turn it off & she said they didn’t have control of it & the room is kept cold for the computers. It was very hard to concentrate. I LITERALLY had to alternate my hands (one on the mouse & one btwn my legs to warm up). During this exam you’re allowed breaks. What they don’t tell you is that when you return from break you’ll need a proctor to sign you into your computer (username & password). If the proctor is with a different test taker this can eat a bit of your break or exam time (bc for this particular exam once you go over the 15 min break time the next block of your exam clock begins regardless of if you’ve actually started the exam or not).Lakeytah Irving

Please don't come here . The place is clean and comfortable . The staff is terrible the men never explain you the rules what they have. If you need used the computer and you need to take a note a about something you need remember for study later. The men who checked you in the front . After you finish you test he take all what you write in you note o papel and he broken everything . They have very stupid rules in this center. After you finish you test they forced you to complete a survey if you not do it the section in the computer don't close. I was trying to talk with other staff of this place but Is not one except for the front desk. If you call they never pick up the phone. I don't recommend this center .Carina Bella

Stay away from them. Worst place ever. I suppose to took exam today at 3250 westchester ave location. When I went there before 1PM they said their system is down and I need to reschedule I called the customer service first time they hang up on me. second time the guy on phone told me he is going to give me call back with the reschedule details but never call. What an worst company it is. If their system was down for few days why did not they call or email me about the cancellation of exam? I also had to park my car and I paid $20 who is going to pay that money? Super unprofessional PSI system. STAY AWAY AND HELP YOURSELFTOP TOPIC EVERYDAY

I’ve taken both Phlebotomy and EKG the past couple of months and I definitely feel very comfortable and knowledgeable within the education I received. This is a great school to attend if you have not been in school for a while or you’re going back to build your resume. The instructors are very helpful and never fail to help you understand the material before moving on to the next subject. This school has provided a fast pace and easy way to help me get back on my feet and into the work field. I look forward to taking more classes with Access Careers in the near future to help further my career.Gina Doran

I had a wonderful experience. I started out doing the dialysis technician course which lasted for 6 weeks. At Access they have a payment plan, so you don't have to worry about having all the funds in hand. The teacher, Dr Varsally was excellent. He imparted knowledge in a way that was manageable to all in the class, must also mention that the class ssizes are small. Dr.V. ensured that all understood the lessons taught, he was always punctual to class, ready to do revision every morning on subject matters taught previously. I did the dialysis training at Access Careers and was very impressed by my teacher Dr. Varsally. He is very professional, kind, and humble. His method of teaching is great, and he has a sense of humor too. too,He is always well groomed and very organized. He iis always encouraging his students to continue learning and growing.
