I did an English course during the summer at KSU. The university is awesome. The campus is green and with many places to walk. The facilities at residences, dining rooms, sports center and classrooms are modern. The professors and staff are very attentive and service-minded. This is one of the most affordable universities anyone could attend. Some of these poor reviews just come from bitter former students who broke the honor code and feel sorry (or don’t) for what they did. The professors here are great, some outstanding. I’ve had professors who have gone above and beyond assisting me with a family member’s suicide. They gave me extra time to complete assignments and some excused absences. They are all very accommodating when serious circumstances happen and they are willing to work with you. The tuition costs are some of the most affordable rates you’ll see. Not many colleges in the Western states can beat it. The environment and campus is comfortable and appealing. The grounds look phenomenal in the spring and summertime and the grounds crews do an excellent job of mowing and planting. The buildings are very nice with a lot of amenities. There are many options for things to do in the evenings and a lot of activities throughout the day on campus for students. The honor code is a great component of the university. I know, shocking. As long as you follow campus rules and keep the commandments as a Latter-day Saint, it’s not that hard. Just follow the rules, don’t do stupid stuff, and keep the honor code that students had ALREADY signed up for before attending BYU-Idaho. If you don’t like the rules, you are welcome to leave despite you agreeing to them beforehand. This is a great university. It’s a great place to be and an amazing option for me to get an education and obtain a future career.Drew Whiffen

If you get good grades and work hard to get to the top of your graduating class, this school absolutely refuses to recognize you. I was told from multiple faculty that when you walk you're absolutely prohibited from wearing honors regalia, they won't announce your name with your honors and say it's all in the name of "equality". This is absolutely disgusting for those that have worked very hard to get the best grades and sacrificed a lot. Apparently if you are 4.0 student you are selfish, prideful, think you are better than your peers, and Jesus is disappointed in you (as told to me personally by faculty). Most of the faculty and a lot of the students who work for the school are completely incompetent on multiple levels. They are a nightmare to deal with and if you try to find answers as to why your college doesn't recognize anyone who is graduating with full honors you are met with complete idiocy. Now there are some good teachers on campus and faculty, but they are few and far between. This school is also cheap, but it comes at a price in more ways that one. BYU-Idaho is the best thing to ever happen to me. It is a great university with a great environment. Every class is opened with a prayer which I didn't really like at first but I have grown to love it. Most teachers are very understanding of all kinds of circumstances and the classes are small enough that the teachers actually try to get to you know. It is just a very caring environment compared to other universities. Like others have said, the academic advising center and the financial aid center are run by a bunch of students who have no idea what they're doing which is quite frustrating but you will get help eventually just probably not as quickly as you'd want. The health center is also really hard to get ahold of and not very helpful but all schools have their down falls. Overall, BYUI is a great university. It has the lowest tuition you will ever find but also a quality education. They do have an intense honor code in some aspects but if you can't follow it and want to complain about it, go somewhere else. The honor code is put in place to keep students safe.Addy Merrill

The location of campus is one of the most beautiful locations for a college campus. It is accepting of so many people and cultures which allows for such a unique learning environment. Located near the north shore, you have a good opportunity to learn more about the rural area you are in as opposed to a busier place like Waikiki. Very good school. The class sizes are small, which allows for more interaction with the professors. The student body id from all over the world, which allows for diversity. The school also does a good job of building respect for the community. That being said, there definitely needs to be an improvement in communication from faculty to students. Pretty awful education experience. The vast majority of professors are terrible teachers. In fact, it's apparent they care more about their research that the school funds, than the actual students and the material they are teaching. So many teachers seem to have the mindset that "Oh, if these students aren't as passionate about this topic as I am, they are going to fail." Of course, there are a few incredible teachers, but they are few and far between. Not to mention, that a large population of the students act extremely entitled and judgy. Kinda of ironic, considering the school is owned and funded by a church that claims to have the most accurate understanding of Jesus Christ. Attending the school is incredibly cheap, however, to which I will praise. The opportunity to make it through school without any debt is a massive help for many. That being said, plan on changing your major multiple times, because almost every program is extremely competitive and very very difficult to get into. AMAZING!!! BYU runs one of the largest, if not the largest, comprehensive summer youth sports program in the country. They consistently draw student athletes from all over Utah, the Intermountain West, The Unites States and even have a number of international athletes every year. We have sent our own kids for 5+ years in multiple sports. They love it!! They love the week long sport specific camps, the housing option, the friends, camp counselors, student coaches, meals at the Canon Center and ice cream at the creamery store. This is a large campus with a number of different facilities. I love that there is no charge for the Bean museum or the Paleontology museum. The creamery makes just about the BEST I've cream I've ever tasted. The Wilkinson Student Center has a bowling alley and am extensive good court and more. Love the Arts center and basically find there is too much here to tell about, but it's worth a visit just to explore the campus. Love the bell concerts at noon.Leona Keesling

I really like the flexibility of the online courses, the affordability and the variety of degree options they have. My advisors and teachers have been very great but communicating with the other staff at this school is very frustrating. The employees in the financial aid department are very rude and condescending and they hang up on you abruptly whenever they get frustrated with you. The registar’s office is by far the WORST. Very nasty employees in that department who talk down to you and treat you like a child. They seem to forget they work for a college, not an elementary school. One spent 10 minutes arguing on the phone with me just because I wanted my new advisor’s phone number and email. The “career counselors” offer no type of help or advice and they just tell you to “google it” whenever you have a basic question about a certain major. They are also very judgmental if you express a desire to finish with only an associates degree and not transfer to a 4 year, not considering not everyone has the financial means to do so. The call center employees are very disrespectful and seem like they want to find reasons to argue with callers. There are also huge issues with miscommunication at this school and everyone seems to have different answers about certain topics which causes a lot of errors. Certain departments are also not great about contacting back even after leaving numerous voicemails/emails. Overall I like the school itself but they need to either retrain the employees on basic respect and customer service or they need to hire new ones.Resident Anon

The teachers here are all outstanding and they make you feel like they want you to succeed. I have taken College Algebra, Biology and Spanish in the classroom and the instructors were all topnotch. There is also additional help available to students in the free math lab and writing centers as well as Spanish tutoring. The online classes are not that confusing but you do need to pay attention because sometimes you are required to take classes through third-party online textbooks via the access codes. The only problems I had were with transferring credits to the school and getting contradictory information from the financial aid office on one occasion. I do wish the school did a better job with advising students but I understand the logistics issues. Everyone at the hub is friendly and helpful! Use them they are a great resource. To all the people that left negative reviews, I would say "you get out what you put in". This is college and you get treated like an adult.Linda Brady

So here's my Wake Tech story. I secured financial aid and then enrolled into Wake Tech as a full-time student. And then the financial aide office attempted to cut my much-needed aid twice, the first time on the Friday before my classes were to begin and then the second time was the following Monday via email when I was literally 4/5 the way through the commute from Fayetteville to Raleigh to attend my first day of classes, causing me to turn around and head back home. And another thing: maybe it's just me — perhaps I missed something?–however it seems that Wake Tech expects new students to simply show up and know what to do? Nothing's explained, nearly none of the stuff that I needed to know to get started was covered during the online orientation that new students are required to complete nor were we given any booklet or the like to explain how stuff works . But let's rewind a bit. After securing financial aid, enrolling and completing online orientation….I remained clueless. So thereafter I spent about a week commuting back and forth between Fayetteville and South campus in an effort to complete registration and get everything else taken care of. I did so under the assumption that I'd get stuff figured out if only I'd drive up there and speak to Wake Tech face to face–but not so . During this process I asked advisors and other staff a variety of questions only to be told conflicting info and advice thereby increasing my confusion. And then I went to the bookstore where I learned that some of the books that I needed were out of stock and that notebooks cost $8. So I left without my books. I did however attempt to attend classes first day of semester, as mentioned above, but then received that email from the financial aid office– had that not happened I would have went to school and maybe things would have turned out differently. I did receive another email from someone else at Wake Tech telling me that the email from financial aid threatening to reduce my aid the 2nd time was a mistake and that I'm covered…but unfortunately I've already missed a week of school so I guess I'm out. Very depressing as Wake Tech is the closest college offering a full curriculum on substance abuse/addiction counseling and that's what I want to do. But, it is what it is .Frank A

You remember when the pandemic started, and everyone had to start learning how to use computers? Now imagine, a bunch of teachers, creating online courses from scratch with no help. ITS A DISASTER. Its like NO ONE set a criteria for how the classes should follow a general structure, so that students aren't spending the first 2 weeks of every new class trying to figure out what is what. Its like no one showed them, "this is the gold standard"… this is what a well put together black board class looks like. The online courses are archaic. (Dr. Frear, I complained about some things and I am sorry. After seeing what else is our there( summer 2022), HOLY MOLY. Your blackboard set up is the least confusing and was by far, the best thing I have seen yet) Instructors use blackboard, not as a classroom but as a file folder system. Instead of using the platform, they made it so that every thing is word documents and or files you have to download when they could have just simply used the actual platform. I should only be downloading PowerPoint slides, worksheets, homework, etc. Not opening a document to read something you could have made a video and "instructed" us or copy and pasted to the platform. Does anyone know the definition of a syllabus there? It should be all encompassing. I shouldn't have to read 5 documents to figure out how I will be graded, what I will be graded on, the rules, the expectations, which books I need to buy. If the department has a syllabus, I'm pretty sure you are supposed to take that document and incorporate it into your own, at the very least create an addendum/appendix. My Grades should clearly have due dates, weighted totals, and all of the grade-able items at the start of the class. There should be no, imagining what my grade is at any given moment.Buttercups

I’ve spent 29 years teaching at Wake Tech and have taken a number of classes here too. I know what it’s like at Wake and I am telling the unvarnished truth about it. I’m retiring soon so it’s not about getting a promotion! Generally speaking the facilities, faculty and quality of education are really very good – in addition the price is still reasonable. Don’t be conned by private educational facilities that promise you a “great job” after graduation and then put you in a low end, minimum wage job where you can’t even afford to pay off your pricey school loans (this happened to a friend of mine). Go to WT and get a better education for a fraction of the cost – you will leave with real skills and THAT’S how you get a job – with knowledge. Plus Wake has a solid reputation with employers. Yes, there are aspects of the school that are unfortunate – I hear complaints from my students, and there are a number of policies that drive the faculty crazy too – much of it is due to the typical bureaucracy that seems inevitable with very large institutions. Is it really better elsewhere? Maybe. Maybe not. Nonetheless, if you go with the sincere desire and motivation to learn, and you treat your teachers and fellow students with respect – you will be supported by all and do well. The ILC really is a remarkable facility and is intended to help struggling students succeed. When it comes to the financial aid office I hear the best approach is to fill out ALL the paperwork that is required COMPLETELY and ON TIME. I attended my free trial session this morning, and since I have left the gym I have raved to everyone I've encountered how amazing my session was. Robin(THE OWNER) joined me in my first session, and provided words of encouragement throughout the whole workout. I live on a farm with horses. That means moving 50-60 lb. hay bales around. When I started taking Pilates classes at Highway 54 Pilates with Amie, I could no longer lift those bales. I also couldn't lift my arms above my head. After a few months of taking classes 2-3 times a week, it dawned on me that I was able to move those bales again. I had gradually been getting stronger and hadn't even realized it and I can totally reach my arms above my head. Fast forward nearly 7 years later as a student and with 60 years of age creeping up on me, I'm enrolled in the PSC teacher training program. Monthly inspection for spiders, webs, ants, other obvious signs of infestations. At this time service rep named Barry, inspected all areas I had trouble with previously he helped to eradicate again while using web broom to remove telltale webs I had not swept away at second level outside for him to see. Then he treated areas around foundation of houses, two garages and trouble spot in the yards over much vegetation and over cumbersome items next to garages we seem to collect and not get rid of. He always offers help and suggestions to assist me in a kind non put down way remaining friendly and professional. We need more Orkin representatives like Barry and last two branch managers that listen to my concerns after being with company since 2008. In the past I did have trouble with only one not willing to be thorough when I was extra busy and had no time for outside work. Branch manager quickly came himself to inspect after third observation of that to complain and no improvement. Manager did the work himself and stated I was valid. I’ve never had trouble since. We have used orkin in the past for about 2 years now and its been on and off good and bad but this time we had a visit from Amy and i want to say she was very exceptional and friendly and i would love for her to be our inspector every visit if possible. Would not recommend. They gave a window when they would be here for the termite inspection. I made sure I was here but they no called no showed. After my landlord complained they called back and rescheduled. A few hours before they were supposed to come out they called and said they could not make it and would call me back to reschedule. What they won't tell you is how long the lessons will take as they bite more than they can chew. In our case, we were told that they would prioritize us so we could get our certificate on or around before our driving permit expired. But once we signed the papers, they told us that it was going to take 6-7 weeks to schedule driving lessons and that was after the classroom portion of the training. This is unreasonable and not advertised initially. They even have the audacity to ask for more money if you need scheduled sooner. And when we wanted to cancel and asked for a refund, they got upset and are refused to refund our money even though we got no service. Not good people to deal with! We’ve had both our sons go thru Yost Driving School. I have to say, they are great! Everyone there treats the students as young adults, and extends so much respect. Yost driving school helped further prepare my daughter to drive. She knew the basics, but I wanted her to learn from someone other than a parent. I have been training at Evolution Fitness Studios since the beginning. They recently moved locations and the new gym is AMAZING! So me new offerings for everyone . The best part is you do not have to be in shape, they have trainers that dedicate their time and are willing to work with you to accomplish your goals. Everyone at Evolution is great. Everyone supports and cheers eachother on. The coaches are wonderful and push you to do your best. They are great at giving you modifications or alternatives to the group workouts when needed. The strikefit classes do wonders for your mental and physical well being.I love this place!M T

Absolutely love this gym! When I first started coming here almost a year and a half ago, I came for the work out. I was excited for something new and different and something that I felt would push me unlike anything I had experienced before. I found that at Madabolic, and a whole lot more! I’ve been excited about MADabolic since I heard of it’s opening! Weight training and lifting heavy is my JAM but what I didn’t expect was the family atmosphere that I have completely fallen in love with! I can guarantee the people between the MAD walls will encourage and push me every single workout, no matter what! From the trainers to the owners to the members like me, everyone is happy to be there and working toward a common goal of health. I happily set my alarm for 4 am to join my friends for the 5 o’clock classes! I came for the workouts, but I stayed for the people. I absolutely love going to MADabolic Wichita! To start, the trainers are all amazing. They take a personal interest in you as well as your fitness journey and goals; pushing you to try harder, encouraging you to keep going and celebrating your successes with you. You couldn’t ask for a better staff. The workouts change everyday, challenging you in new ways. You’ll never get bored. I highly recommend Forge Fitness. I recently completed almost two months of personal training with Mindy, and she far exceeded my expectations. Mindy is very professional and very easy to work with. She thoroughly explained the exercises, critiqued my form, asked me how the exercises felt and made sure I was working safely, but also told me when I needed to work harder or do more difficult exercises. I finished my training with a solid working plan to continue on my own. Purchasing personal training sessions through the gym was hassle free with no hidden costs, contracts, or nonsense. I simply met with the owner, he asked some questions and told me about the gym, and then I purchased the amount of training hours I wanted. I highly recommend Forge and plan to use this gym again as any training needs arise.Shawn Abrams

Been training with Stephany Carter since Nov 2021 and have made lots of gains and improved my health. She is committed to her clients and consistent on making appointments and adds a little extra in the way of motivation. She pushes you to make the most towards your goals. Forge is a great gym with a good atmosphere that caters to a wide variety of individuals from powerlifting to strongman to the average Joe gym goers. Highly recommend; especially if you need 24 access to high quality equipment beyond the typical nautilus machines most commercial gyms have. Staff are friendly and willing to assist.Michael Jones

By far the best gym I have been too. The personal trainers and the owner truly care about you as in individual. The gym members are very respectful and it is a judge free zone, so you can be yourself. The gym is very clean and well organized, and it has everything you need for your workouts. Having access 24/7 is a huge advantage as well. Having the lock system they have is very effortless to use, but makes you feel safe at all times. The owner, Miles Brown, listens to feedback and does everything he can to improve the gym.Cameron Bye
