I was a student back in 2018. Came back for the spring 2022 semester, and the "president" Ms.Katrina VanderWoude, has ran this place directly into the bottom of the barrel. I remember when President Larry Frank was here. Good times. He was amazing. I never seen the problems I see now when he was here. Anyone else would have handled the pandemic better than VanderWoude. This used to be my favorite school, I was always saying to family and friends how much I loved trade tech. Well that time has passed. The outside of campus is filthy, the sheriffs are rude, they don't open the gates in the morning as they should, website is hardly updated, bookstore is garbage, no help for students in terms of supportive services etc. Its no wonder enrollment is low. LACCD can blame Ms.VanderWoude for that. The only upside is the professors. And yes I am fully aware Ms.VanderWoude is "Dr" but since lacks respect for students and staff then I will lack respect for her. Trade tech is my home school but I will be switching it to ELAC. That campus has surpassed trade tech in every possible way and I love going there for classes. I hope VanderWoude gets replaced soon for the sake of the campus.Karina Gomez

I am currently in the third semester taking the carpentry program. Los Angeles Trade Technical College is a great school. October will be 3 years that I have been attending this college. I also got my GED through Trade Tech.The majority of the professors and staff are very respectful and kind. Update I finished the carpentry program and found a job in the construction field with great pay. I would definitely recommend Los Angeles Trade Tech Technical College to someone that wants to learn a trade or just take some classes. HOT Mess. Vaccination Mandate rescinded. Jeopardizing everyone's health in hopes that more students will attend. Butchering of Food Security Program to make it unusable and pointless. Campus construction underway. ZERO signage. There are NO services available after 5. You can't even access the cafeteria area. If you're taking an evening class I hope you bought your own food, that doesn't need reheating or you can afford to buy something off site. Day 1 Air conditioning failures. Water fountains dysfunctional already. SMC is not at all ready to have students back on campus. And SMC does NOT care. Or rather SMC CARES… ALL ABOUT PROFITS. The campus here at SMC has gone quite the transformation in the past few years. The Science building and the Welcome center are completely new and look great. The only problem with the campus is the parking and lane infrastructure needs an upgrade. The lines of cars around campus affect the local community in a negative way. As a local resident, I think the campus should invest in buying more parking and perhaps adding turning lanes. Ubers used to block Pico for blocks but they fixed that. The campus is beautiful and even boasts a fourth of July fireworks show in the summers!! I just wish they would invest in the local traffic and help us regular folks out.Madie Parbaz

I am a homeless student. I have had many issues getting my financial aid money. Since the semester started I wake up on the street in tears. I feel very defeated with this process. They withhold aid for weeks on end after classes have already started. I DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS SCHOOL! They recently had an audit and I gave all bad reviews mainly because of financial aid. I’m exhausted, not motivated to engage in my full time course load. This is why some people make bad decisions in life. A system that does NOT have my best interest as a priority. I transferred here because it offered a program I wanted to take. The first time, the class was canceled due to there being not enough sign ups. Fine. That was Spring and now we’re in the Fall semester. Once again, the class was canceled. It was canceled 1 week before the 2nd session was to start. I now only have 2 classes (a 3rd one was dropped because it overlapped the class that was eventually canceled). My teacher is cool so, no complaints. My online class…. it takes my teacher 2-3 weeks just to grade your work. I’ve done online classes at other schools and was graded within the week. I’m going back to my previous school. I chose this college because it was ranked as one of the top ten community colleges in California for online courses. Diversity is great, many certificates and degrees offered, and the counselors I’ve spoke with over the phone were polite and helpful. They wait until more than a month into the semester to process student loans – and the form should specify that it’s for the year. I filled it out thinking it was only for the semester. No return emails from financial aid in the matter. Overall I would recommend WLAC, but their admissions and financial aid offices need to work on responding to students.Jason G

The school was okay. The admission office is terrible. I enjoyed the professors they have great ones. Working here was bad there’s nepotism and favoritism allowed. The staff isn’t the nicest I think student should be respected a bit more and heard. As an employee here I know I tried to help as many students sincerely. The process needs to be more efficient. Graduated here in 2018. Yes the school is not perfect. but it is affordable and offers all sorts of academic programs for students & for those who are interested in learning a new skill. A few issues with the homeless people who easily make their way in the school's restroom and leave all their mess inside. A bit more security is also needed because of the area surrounding the school, but overall it's a good community college. Looking back now, I miss every moment I got to spend here. When they build the student services building 2017 They are improving till now and a lot of students go there to enroll very good service now than before. Adventist Health Center is conducting a Vaccine center at The Glendale Community College in the parking structure at the top of the hill right off of the 2 Fwy Off the Mountain exit. The staff are very helpful. There is very clear and strict mandates on masks and health protocols. Please follow signage and bring your masks. You will need your ID for check in. The nurses are very helpful and many of them have worked in the ER with patients and have seen the effects of the pandemic. So most of them are very happy to administer the vaccine and help prevent the spread of this terrible disease. We are all so happy to share the change in the world and grow together. Theres an old Armenian blonde lady in Financial Aid office with glasses, shes honestly and honestly the rudest person ive ever seen in my entire life. I dont know what was going on in her life that moment but she did not help me whatsoever to give her drop off my fafsa documents about academic appeal that I received from the outstanding counselor here in GCC. The fafsa that lady referred me to find a random person to help me upload the documents into the website which she didnt even told me what website to upload to. Beauty and peace would describe this campus. A very serene environment on the hill overlooking a big part of Los Angeles. Large acres of grass with everything looking like in order and clealiness. The general unprofessionalism from the administration and the staff left me nothing but frustration and a refund. I was enrolled in a Veterinary Assistant program just to have my instructor “disappear” after the first day with no follow up or any information on her well being. The most information I received was hearing the course was cancelled after asking the faculty NUMEROUS times over the course of three weeks. As a professional classical singer, I work with one of the excellent teachers at the school and, if she's an indication, the standard is very high. The music program itself, I only know thru others, but the facilities, the performing spaces, are works of art, from the smallest to the largest. For classical singers, instrumental soloists, and chamber musicians, their acoustics are perfect. Every year, the school holds a public exhibition of all their main talents – music, choregraphy…etc. It's very entertaining and a relaxing way to spend the afternoon. Those young little meow meows are so cute! I've never taken a class here and of course, being DTLA, there's rarely any affordable parking nearby esp. during event days. PROS: -Nearly all of courses are open enrollment, which makes it very easy to enroll. -There is a range of classes and many of them are offered both online and on campus. -The staff are very friendly and helpful. -The refunds department is very helpful. -Enrollment is easy to work with. -Certificate programs can be more applicable to real world than some undergrad degrees Neutral: -There is a clear distinction between UCLA and UCLA Extension. Cons: -No student ID cards are issued to extension students -Generally excluded from using library, recreational activities, some other resources that require a student ID. -You do not get a student email account -The extension parking permits are only usable after 4:30pm, so if you perhaps find yourself at the school to meet with your professor or student services earlier in the day, you will need to find another parking option. -The Data Science Intensive program is not worth the money. You will likely need to Google all your coursework and homework.Andrew Sein

I am extremely disheartened with the deterioration in student support services. Instead of passing the buck, pretending a request hasn't been received, asking for more steps to be taken, more hoops to be jumped, and employing diversion tactics, how about we all do our jobs and take accountability for our actions or lack thereof. Another problem is the staff doesn't stick. Students don't know whom to contact for any issues. One doesn't always want to bother the academic advisor or DSO. I do appreciate new initiatives. International students were thrown out of the country on July 6, 2020. We are dealing with the trauma of a disrupted life and demolished dreams. The new circumstances are not yet favorable for international students. I applaud the efforts of the school (UCLA Extension with UCLA) to help us cope in this regard even if some instructors don't get it.Rati Tripathi

UCLA Extension has shown themselves to be incredibly disappointing in how they support their students (they don't). With the recent administration ruling, which threatened international students' stay in the states, this institution has given students zero productive updates and guidelines. Nothing on their website. Nothing on their social media. They did not reach out to their students to show any solidarity in this very difficult and scary time. Avoid this place if you can especially if you're a student planning to study abroad. Just by their lack of response /especially/ during a time as difficult as this, they will not support you if anything else comes up. Study! You have to take it serious. Show up, participate, study, study again. I graduated in 2019 Dec. There are some things that I wasn't clinically prepared for once I was on my own. So be assertive when doing clinicals and learn. If you drive be prepared to pay for parking everyday at campus! We had validations but it still cost about 5 dollars. The teachers I had were very knowledgeable and they change throughout the year. Also the teachers gave me references and even job recs.. When I say knowledgeable I mean in the field and nursing stuff not on teaching lmao!! I didnt give five 5 stars because they need a guidance counselor, I dont like one of the receptionist, one of my teachers was very brash, I'm missing some clinical experience, parking, and 3 people I know forsure didn't graduate or get licensed because they couldn't pass ATI. I've been a Silver Lake resident for over 12 years now and I am SO HAPPY this place has opened. It is brand spankin' new; a gorgeous high-ceilinged space, thoughtfully laid out and lovingly designed, complete with Phillips Hue lights and a black unicorn mural outside (I mean, it IS Silverlake:). But most importantly, this place has wonderful pilates with experienced instructors! I've taken classes with the woman (Kate) who opened the studio over the years at different locations and it is so exciting to see her take the fearless leap into studio ownership! Not for the faint of heart! She knows what makes a studio welcoming, appealing, and delightful. The class schedule is excellent- from early morning, to midday to evening options, and there aren't too many reformers in the room- tons of space to stretch out! There is also a variety of class types without it being overwhelming. The equipment is top of the line, and SUPER nice (Balanced Body). The vibe is friendly and chill. They are currently offering single classes, packages, and best yet- monthly memberships. I just signed up for the 8 times a month membership- perfect for my needs! Stellar instructors and workout. The variety of classes is great – Body Tonics can be a little more classical and focused on core/balance/mobility, while the Power+Flows can really get you sweating with higher resistance and intensity. I love how it challenges my body, allowing me to feel stronger and reach new goals. The instructors are all well-trained, attentive to form, and always have innovative exercises to keep us engaged. The atmosphere is warm and welcoming, the studio is clean, and the equipment is top-notch. Other practical stuff: street parking has never been a problem even on street-cleaning days, the app is very user-friendly, and there are enough classes offered at different times of the day to fit your schedule. On my own, I would never work the specific abdomen, hamstring , inner thigh, butt muscles, hip flexor and plenty other areas without the non pretentious , fair minded and hard work of the teachers and owners at Avenir – LA. The work is specific, changes frequently within the class, and the instructors care about our experience. As a new person to Pilates, they made it easy to slowly improve my abiltiy and strengthen muscles that support me in everyday movement such as sitting, getting out of a car, biking, playing other sports. Clarissa Is an excellent instructor. Everything she taught us was everything that was covered in the exam. She covered every line of the manual in sufficient time. She was very expressive and allowed demonstrations and scenarios from the students. Live scan printing was coordinated well. Everything fell in place and everyone knew what to do. Definitely the best place to go to take your Notary Class. I recommend studying the online portion and then coming in and doing the live course as a way to refresh what you have already learned and ask questions on what you did not already understand. It makes the test so much EASIER when you do it that way Also they have the best Notary Supplies. I do not recommend the school to anyone. I did not take the certified medical assistant exam right away and when I call them to ask them about it they said it was too late and I would not be able to take the exam. This is in fact not true. I found out I have 60 months from the time of graduation to take the exam. I misplaced my diploma and in order to get it they required me to come in in person and pay in cash and then return to pick it up. I need this diploma in order to sit for the exam and I work Monday through Friday 8 to 5. They are completely unwilling to work with me or help me. This is unlike many of the other schools available. I was very young and had no guidance at the time and will never recommend the school ever to anybody.coco cook

What makes this school great is the Job Placement Assistant Advisor Christopher Aono, he's a very Optimistic Guy full of energy always ready to help the Students. Although I only met Mr. Aono for only a month he has been very helpful for placing me in a clinic to do my Externship. From all the other staff he really reaches out from the rest by keeping in contact asking me how am doing at the clinic. Also he has a good Vibe that brings to the school and for him to be the First person to say congratulations to me for graduating and to say that he's proud of me for completing my hours and getting hired is overall great. The class and professor Dr. Rivera was great ! But lack of communication with students is what this school needs to fix on. It can be messy at times how they work. They give out checks and my last one was never given because it was given to the wrong student. I tried calling the school and they would transfer me to different line and it seems like no one picks up the phone at all. I had a great experience at this training center yesterday! This facility is friendly, has great equipment, small class sizes, and we were fortunate to have a very knowledgeable instructor, Doctor Sergio. We had 5 people in our class, and we were encouraged to practice our skills as many times as we needed. There was plenty of equipment, and the equipment was new and up-to-date. The prices are better than other centers, but they do not skimp on quality. They even had coffee, breakfast rolls and snacks for us! Wonderful school and very qualified instructors. I initially chose this school because it is close to my house, but I am very glad I signed up for their CNA program. Both the classroom and clinical instructors went above and beyond to make sure we were well prepared for the state exam, as well as the office staff, who made sure we had all the paperwork in order to receive our CNA license. I took an ACLS class at the North Hollywood location and loved it! The entire staff was very friendly and welcoming. Not only did I come out of the class learning a lot but I also had a lot of fun. The instructor, Sergio, was extremely educated and was extra patient with each and every one of us throughout the entire class. I enjoyed my training at Los Angeles Career College. I started school in November of 2021 and I am now a CNA. I passed my California state exam. The CNA course was about 6 weeks long and our state exam was done at the college. I find the school professional and extremely accommodating for the students. My class was a small group of about 7 people, but we bonded and we all passed our CNA nursing skills plus the written state exam. We had a great instructor Zianya, who is extremely knowledgeable and sincerely wanted her class to succeed. I would highly recommend the school to anyone who is thinking of making a serious career change in their life. Manana is the CNA coordinator and when I first spoke to her she was sincere and answered all my questions which put my mind at ease. Manana will take good care of you. She is dependable and reliable. I am so happy to choose Los Angeles Career College for the CNA program. The instructors had all of our best interests at heart and really pushed for all of the students' success. The theory portion of the course was online but very thorough with the material we had to learn. For clinical we had a very knowledgeable instructor and she was absolutely amazing. AMAZING EXPERIENCE! The office staff was always very helpful and prompt at everything. The instructor Heidi did a phenomenal job. Very knowledgeable, understanding, funny and always had a great attitude. I fainted when I got stuck ,but the instructor was right beside me during it and made sure I felt safe. She not only made sure I never felt embarrassed or alienated from the class, she also made sure to still give us all a great experience. Great, fun, and intellectually stimulating! My instructor was TAEZSA for my Management of Assaultive Behavior (MAB /MOAB) certification class (required for healthcare workers) taught me the best life skills! I paid $70, which seemed steep. But hell no, it's not! I learned to get what I want without my usual pleading, begging, and arguing. I was required to take this class for a stressful job in the ER at a major hospital which treated a very challenging population that included the homeless and mentally ill. The skills Taezsa empowered me with my MAB class were so versatile: you can use them anywhere! Thanks to this class, I have become a more compassionate and aware person, much more attuned and perceptive to the discomfort experienced by those around me. I receive "Thank you"s all the time for speaking up for them and to stop the cause of their stress. Course provider Educate Simplify is also a very savvy with technology and social media and provided FREE PowerPoint slides and a humorous quiz before my class in order to prepare me. Every day, I use my MAB class skills to get people to stop smoking around children or nasty men to stop harassing young women. Educate Simplify..is in a single word FABULOUS!!!! It is a small CE office conveniently located on Wilshire Blvd…. the office space is quite comfortable and the cost of their courses is very reasonable. The business is owned by Olympia and has one other staff member Tasia…Both of these professionals are relax and knowledgeable in the material they instruct… both are welcoming and put you at ease the moment you walk in the door…. Tasia…is divine… Olympia is awesome… you attend the course do the work and you receive your certificate, CEU's on the spot or they file for you for your governing board,,YES it is that easy….. If I could leave more than five stars, I would! Dogdrop has been an absolute godsend with my quarantine puppy. Safe, clean, reliable, caring, and AWESOME all around. In terms of pet care, Dogdrop is incredible – I'm really picky about where I leave my dog Leo. The facility is super clean, I always feel like he's very safe, and they're really reliable. Plus, I can also tell how much he loves it – he RUNS to the door when we pull up! The whole team is incredibly sweet to my pup. They pay close attention to his behavior and always update me with photos and texts, and have even noticed him being better behaved around other dogs in the course of his time there. I know for a fact that he's never come home with a bute or injury. As human customer service goes, they're kind, attentive, and responsive via phone or text- special shoutout to Alex and the whole crew for their amazing work with the pups. One last thing I want to share is that no matter what time I go to pick up my dog, I never hear scared whining or crying in the back. There's just some playful barking, and one or two staffers are ALWAYS back there keeping a close eye on everyone. Hello, I just popped into Dogdrop this week and feel compelled to write a review! I have had dogs my whole life and have seen a lot of dog “day care” centers, and just cannot say enough about Dogdrop. The people are super friendly and knowledgeable. The place is new and appears to have been custom built for the sole purpose of providing state of the art dog care. The doggie play areas are very clean – and since they appear to have been made from state of the art “easy-to-clean” materials, I imagine they will stay that way! Here are a few other things that really stood out: ** flexible hours, late hours. The membership structure is flexible and Dogdrop stays open much later than most other places. Both are really great ideas, especially for people with hectic schedules or unpredictable dog watching needs. **not just “day care” — sophisticated dog handling techniques. The technician, Orlando, is plainly a veteran trainer. And instead of just letting the dogs do whatever they want, it appears that Orlando gives them each short training intervals. What a great thing for any dog! My dog was engaged, enjoyed the day, and was good and properly tired that night!Michael Tomasulo

Our puppy Bruce is 5 month-old and started going to this daycare a few weeks ago. When we say the magic word "daycare" he knows exactly where we are headed. His ears get tucked back behind his excited beaming eyes and he leads our pack right to the front door of this place! Having had a terrible experience of getting our dog bitten (and not even informed about it) at a different place in the neighborhood, we are so happy we found this place. Bruce always takes a sweet nap after the daycare and I love the updates the place provides on Instagram Story so that I can get a glimpse of his day and feel assured that he is in good care. Everyone who works here are super friendly and professional. They tell me about his day too which I really appreciate 🙂 They have reduced hours for Covid so double check their hours to make sure it still works for your needs. We love love Lovebug music classes so much!!! Thanks for being so amazing! Our son is now 3 years old and I think he’s been going to Love Bug since he was 8 months old! It’s so awesome to think about… He really looks forward to class every week! And it’s the cutest thing ever! He sings all the songs he learns all the time. He was just singing about “fruits and vegetables” the other day! While playing with his toys. Haha Thanks for encouraging fruits and vegetables! And Miss Alana is his favorite!!! We love her so much! We even hired her for his birthday party too! And everyone was talking about how much they loved her too! She is seriously the Best!!! We feel so lucky she’s our sons teacher. Our family LOVES Ms. Marlene's Bilingual Spanish/English classes!!! They are such a wonderful resource for learning, play and COVID-safe socialization. We've been attending Lovebug classes weekly since our baby was about 10 months old. He instantly becomes joyful when we pull out his bag of music toys and tell him we're going to class. As a former librarian, I am deeply impressed with the quality and variety of the programming. The variety of age appropriate instruments offered is awesome. Each class is unique and each child is greeted by name at every session. Classes are held outdoors, families sit on their own blankets and instruments are cleaned between classes, making the experience safe, relaxing and enjoyable for the whole family.Xochitl

LoveBug and Me Music is just wonderful! My 2-year-old daughter enjoys going to her weekly class and she especially enjoys seeing Magical Music Educator, Miss. Alana. Beyond the dancing, singing, and instrument play, I have found the opportunity to connect with other parents wonderful. My daughter enjoys the social interaction as well, and we have built friendships that extend beyond class. We listen to the LoveBug and Me music while driving, and this, in combination with the 45-minute class time, has taught my toddler to use music to create and also simplify transitions though the use of song. I can't say enough good things about LoveBug and Me music. I highly recommend this music program for children age 0-4.Miss C
