If you are looking for a university that constantly drops classes without notifying you and consistently mess up your financial aid and student loans, then this is the university for you. I have never dealt with such an unorganized and incompetent higher education facility. If I were not so close to reaching my end goal with my education I would transfer. If you are planning on taking courses at the HEAT Center in Aberdeen through Notre Dame, such as myself, don't bother because courses are rarely offered there and I have had 3 courses in the past 2 semesters that were to be held at the HEAT Center that have been cancelled and I was never notified by Notre Dame. Now they have notified Fed Loans that I graduated in August when I have not completed all my coursework. Talk about unorganized. I don't think I have encountered one person on the administrative staff that seems like they know what they are doing. I can say my professors have been good; however all of the negative encounters I have had with administration has overshadowed those positives.Kelly Borowiak

This review is of the Entry level BSN nursing program. To be fair, this institution actually has a very good nursing program. The culture of the environment however needs plenty of improvements. This nursing program lacks cultural diversity and sensitivity. The nursing program and it’s educators still caters to the program’s largely Caucasian student population. All of the full time professors that lecture are white with the exception of one Indo-Caribbean professor. This has created an environment of both intentional and unintentional biases, which has also created an open tolerance for racial and ethnic prejudices that should never be acceptable or tolerated in an educational environment. The nursing program would greatly benefit from including an office of Cultural diversity and inclusion to better accommodate and nurture its students from different racial and ethnic backgrounds.Beautiful Life of B

Notre Dame of Maryland was the last college I visited, but the first one that felt like home. I'm only a sophomore, but I know that I made the best decision because the faculty, staff, and student body make this place so great. My professors are always available and helpful, which is great in a pinch, and living on campus with my friends is the best thing I could have asked for. The programs create something for everyone (as seen in my own dorm!) with one roommate as Pre-Pharm in the 3/4 year program, the other currently applying for the Nursing Program, and I'm applying for the 5 year MAT program for education. I realize that my opinion can't stand for the whole school (chemical engineering​ 2017), but having held a student job that allowed me to see a lot of the behind the scenes stuff and was part of a department that was in the midst of a lot of changes, I do think I can offer some insight. First, unless you're a proactive genius who wants to do research their entire life, don't bother coming here. This school doesn't care about industry or the jobs it offers. This school talks a lot, but doesn't follow through very well. For instance, the higher ups tend to be good, but the people below them are horrible. The career center is a joke, the admin people are flakes who pretend to know what they're doing, and the professors are very hit or miss. How this school got "best undergrad teaching" is a mystery to me. The only good majors are comp sci and bio. The rest of the departments, especially mine, are either full of hot air, stupid in their decision making, or just plain lost. This university attracts a lot of insanely bright students to their undergraduate program and the stem majors would suck without them. God knows the STEM majors don't get genuine help from their professors. I had to go an extra year because of the negligence of my department and two of the many professors that left during my time were upset and thought I should have graduated a year earlier. I almost transferred twice. My department, similar to many others, don't have any connections to companies in industry. This school also hates transfer students despite having a lot of them. Don't expect to finish any degree in 4 years if you're transferring in. There's no social life here because the school is filled with pasty nerds. This is the worst school in the state of Maryland (and possibly in the US). Several buildings on campus are run down (the Sondheim building has even had asbestos in it). The quality of the food is poor and it's overpriced. The social life sucks. It's not a well-known school outside of Maryland. And most importantly, classes are insanely difficult (especially for STEM majors). The classes aren't designed to weed out the slackers. They're designed to weed out the people who try their absolute hardest (and sacrifice things such as sleep and a decent social life) but can't keep up with the immense workload thrown at the students and/or approach assignments with the same exact mindset as the professors. Exams are geared less toward understanding important subject material and more toward deciphering what the professors are actually asking. This school is nothing but a weed out school. I know students who are very intellectually gifted yet still struggle with courses only because of the professors. Almost every professor, by the way, couldn't care less about students and (one would think) they take pride in handing out bad grades – maybe because it inflates their ego of "how brilliant they are compared to others". One more note on the courses – for many courses there is one week between the final exam and the last normal exam of the semester. The biggest mistake I've ever made was attending this "school". I can honestly say that attending UMBC feels like a form of imprisonment. I can't overstate how much I truly despise this school. Please don't make the same mistake I did – go to UMD, Towson, or really anywhere but UMBC.Bucky C

There are a lot of great things about UMBC, the career center is great and there are some top-notch professors. There are some problems though. One annoying thing is they nickel and dime you for everything. Parts of the campus are run down looking and they wont go there during the tour. Most of my professors have been good but my girlfriend who is an art major has had more than one professor that just had students watch online videos instead of teaching them animation topics. -Library carpet is worn out -Chairs in library are so gross your arms stick to them -ITE building has chairs with foam falling out -You must pay to play ping pong or any game in the "game room" -The billing dept gives you very little time to pay the bill and is quick to issue an expensive late fee -Social life isn't great on campus Another thing worth noting that has unfortunately been getting worse is UMBC's leadership imposing their political motives on students through 'updates' on current events. Updates are fine but the vocabulary used in some of the 'updates' is disrespectful to some students who don't agree with the same viewpoints as 'UMBC leadership'. Education major. I enjoyed my classes and the instructors. I overpaid for what is really a worthless degree because school districts do not want experienced teachers. The issue is experienced teachers have higher salaries compared to new teachers. So while the university can claim a certain job placement rate, the situation changes after a few years on the job. Considering all the money education students have paid Loyola University Maryland, I have never heard about Loyola lobbying for better working conditions for teachers. That's crummy. Every entity wants to take, take, take from education majors but never give back to help our community. I had to pay for my own teaching internship. I thought that was normal at the time, but it's not. Other majors get paid to intern. Do not waste your money on an education degree. Enter teaching via Teach for America or Urban Educators instead. From the perspective of an African American student, I want to warn potential minorities. I did not experience a really good first year at this school. The professors are not as great as they have told you. At least for the freshman year. A couple of the professors I had, never returned papers and won't send emails. Many times they would change the syllabus and give you last minute assignments. I struggled a lot even with all the extra time I spent on all the classes and getting tutored. This disappointment I encountered has occurred to other freshman students as well. Don't be fooled by the lovely campus now. That's what drew me at first. Not only am I transferring, but soooo many others are also. Be far warned and save some money also. Side note, many Class of 2020 freshman have experienced some unpleasant people. My son is graduating this May and we were extremely pleased with the college. The campus is like a park! My son put a great deal into the College and got back what he put in, a great education, great experiences, a great professional network and great friends. The private school setting adds the lifetime camaraderie. It's small enough that you can actually get to know your professors, yet big enough for professional opportunities. Being in Baltimore and so close to DC, you cannot lose for internships and jobs. Good luck to all! Word of advice: try and transfer out of this ghetto school as soon as possible. It'll save you the headache. TAKE ONLINE CLASSES! That way, you will not have to deal with their crap. The only good thing you'll find about this school is the cheap tuition, some good professors if you can find the right ones. So far, I managed to have good ones. And a few nice students along the way. But the unprofessional, unorganized with the admins, staff, etc is a nightmare. I'm speaking from experience with the financial aid and trying to sign up for classes. They act like they don't know what they're doing. Not to mention, you try to be friendly and they give you attitude like you did something wrong. Plus, the staff and admins are incredibly immature and straight up bullies. When you ask for help, they will act irritated, rude or expect you to it yourself. You know that you are going to be around students all day long, and if that is something you cannot handle or deliver civil professionalism, then why are you working here to begin with? I hated this college including all staffs, administration and president of this college I had many issues with back when I was attending this college. Yes, I graduated in 2004, made very high grades and achieve my goals, but the President of this college did nothing about my situation. She failed to do her job claiming that she will not bar a student for harassing me. She is very lucky I did not sue her before I graduated. Other people has complained about allowing non-visitors attending to this school for no reason. This brings a major concern about safety. I would advise no one attend to this school. I wonder why there are so many bad reviews about this school. It's not as bad as I thought or as I read. Yes, I did have a bad impression at first because I was supposed to take four courses, now I'm taking three because of their carelessness. But that's the only problem I've encountered here. Lackadaisical, Unkempt, Lacks Follow thru… For over 3 weeks I have made multiple requests and attempts to obtain my transcripts from this school as they purchased or conjoined with the predecessor institution-Baltimore School of Massage.-all under the current Steiner company platform. My experience with this SIMPLE task has been a sweat bead short of a nightmare. Not only have I called 14 times and gotten gum crackling, oblivious, unprofessional, dumbfounded personnel; I was sent to Corporate whom did not keep their promise of calling me back with a direct answer on getting my transcripts or who could within their organization .Furthermore, it is causing a massive delay in licensure and verification in the many other platforms in which I serve. Not to mention, one of their bragging rights is job placement afterwards. So wouldn't Cortiva have to provide previous graduates with their transcripts? Why is this such a debacle at this time? If Cortiva has this much complication with a simple transcript request, I can't imagine them being handed the task of educating and developing individuals for the programs that they provide. This school was very unorganized and the way they handled a lot of situations was very unprofessional. A lot of the equipment was either broken or just gross. I paid a lot of money to go here and although i finished i don’t feel like i got my moneys worth at all. If it wasn’t for the amazing instructors i had i wouldn’t have made it through and unfortunately due to the school my whole class had no teacher for the remaining two weeks of our time there and instead of being professional and letting us know in a conversation we had to read a note telling us what class to go sit in. Their program is very thorough and up to date. Brandy and Corey, the directors, took me on a tour and showed me the equipment their students are training with. As someone who has been in the spa industry, I was amazed that their programs cover not only the post skin care appointments, such as recommending products, but they have been training their students for modalities that spas have just now been implementing or haven't yet (LED masks for estheticians). The massage program is also very good. Aside from a detailed and thorough education a massage therapist would undergo for the license, they also offer a lot of study preparations for the MBLEX! I love the support that Brandy and Corey give to their students so they find success in school and their future careers.FooseArts

We had a fun time, a quick trip so we didn't see the whole zoo but we will be back. Watching the chimpanzees interact and the baby playing was super cute. I really liked seeing the historic section, the Victorian style cages were interesting and a reminder how far things have come from keeping animals for pure show to the masses with no space or enrichment to today where showing them is important, but their lives and well being is also very important. We even got to see the bears playing with a treat stuffed ball and the lemurs getting treats today. Also I love how much art the zoo has, in particular the Bart Walter bronzes having met him in my youth its always lovely to see his work. Overall I like the Maryland Zoo and will definitely be back. This is a really nice zoo that I definitely want to come back. When you first walk in you see the old enclosures for animals back when the zoo first opened obviously the enclosures then were far too small and they kind of talk about that with the signs but it was still really interesting to see the zoo from the past they have a lot of really cool animals there the golden frogs were probably my favorite the penguins get fed at 10:00 a.m. and 3:00 p.m. definitely recommend seeing that if you make it in time. Overall it's one of the best disease I've ever been to definitely recommend to people 🤠 Visited on

We enjoyed the Zoo. A few exhibits were missing animals but for the most part we saw a lot. I agree with everyone who says the enclosures are pretty far apart. There was quite a bit of walking and we were happy to have strollers for our toddlers. Also the dinosaurs were a big hit for our toddlers. My son has been talking about them more than the living animals we saw. As an adult I would have liked to see more of a narrative throughout the exhibit but for the little guys it was definitely worth the extra $6. Visited on

This school is a HOT mess.. ceiling and floors falling apart, the school is dirty, supplies are old and used, sinks are broken and dirty, bathrooms are unsanitary, smells like mildew, and the waiting room needs a major update, doesn’t feel in inviting. Students have to buy their own supplies since their “kit” comes with the bare minimum. They don’t care about students or their needs to successfully graduate and obtain a license. This place needs a new owner and the current owner needs a reality check. Either way go to a different cosmetology school because $20,000 for tuition is not worth it for the bare minimum.Ruby

I attended the Waldorf School of Baltimore from the children's garden through 8th grade. Of all my schooling (high school, undergraduate, graduate), I identify primarily with the Waldorf School of Baltimore. It's something that comes up surprisingly often, perhaps because it is so unique. My education and experiences from Waldorf follow me everyday, from the way I interact with people, to the way I approach challenges. For me, at the base of this are things taught at a very young age at Waldorf: temperance, respect, and imagination. The unique practical skills that a Waldorf education develops are probably my favorite aspect of my schooling. You learn how to work with your hands in a variety of media. Handwork was my favorite study, and I still take great pleasure in handicrafts, especially knitting. Moved to Baltimore last April, and honestly joining CrossFit Federal Hill has been the best part of my experience so far. Having never done CrossFit before, the coaching staff are really good at coaching to all skill levels, and covering fundamentals and scaling options for athletes. Additionally, they are all very approachable, and bring great energy that makes it a great community and environment to be a part of. I also think they do a great job at the extra programming outside of the normal classes, whether that's Barbell Club, Drive, or some of the competition/community events they do, there's a lot you can do to stay engaged with the gym and people there. Speaking of the people, there are many different skill levels of athletes, but all are really nice and make you feel welcome from the beginning. Such a great gym/CrossFit experience! This is definitely the best CrossFit I have EVER attended. Most important, the results are real. I noticed substantial changes in my fitness and how I felt almost immediately. The classes are approachable for all levels. The coaches are so friendly. They go out of their way to demonstrate how to scale movements when needed. I’ve always felt challenged, but never pressured to do anything that made me feel uncomfortable. Coach Davidson Jones is my personal favorite- he’s great at teaching complex movements, motivational, and so funny. He makes class feel like recess for adults. Took another five star class with Kristie! This time my husband and I attended the Comfort Measures class in person after having taken the Baby Basics course with Kristie for our first two years ago. I planned on having an unmedicated childbirth this time and knew I needed to get educated and learn coping mechanisms. I can’t rave enough about this class. I felt educated, empowered and informed when I left. I no longer felt the dread and anxiety that I did walking in. After having my baby earlier this month, I can 100% say that I wouldn’t have been able to make it through without Kristie and her class. I used the coping mechanisms she shared, but almost more importantly, my husband was my advocate. Kristie focused as much on the support person as she did the mommas during the class, equipping and empowering them to advocate and support their wives. My husband was able to be exactly what I needed thanks to this class. Even if you’re planning on a c section or an epidural, Kristie makes sure to include all possibilities in her class. We purchased the Complete Eduction package and Unlimited yoga to prepare for our sons arrival. Going to these classes really calmed my anxiety around birthing and the birth experience. I felt empowered to make the right decisions for myself and my family. My partner and I learned what to expect and how to advocate for me during labor and delivery rather than just doing whatever they said. All of the instructors here are so friendly and they answer all of your questions thoroughly. Additionally, each of the 4 classes sent us home with a workbook with more information in it that we have been able to continually refer back to. Prenatal Yoga really helped to clear my mind and made me more flexible and open for birth. I took the breathing exercises we did and applied them during my labor. The Womb Room made a huge impact for me and I really think it’s because of them that I was able to feel so confident and have such an amazing birth experience. I am in LOVE with this place! I signed up for the holistic package and am so pleased with my experience. My Saturday mornings are not the same unless I go to my prenatal yoga class. I was never a gym person, I was more into playing in various sports leagues, but my wife begrudgingly got me to attend an open house workout. Once I went for the first time, I was hooked! This is one of the best group fitness classes I have ever tried out! I had dabled in other HiiT/bootcamp class across Canton/Fells but none compare to PEAK. I get more of a HiiT workout here at a reasonable price too, not to mention all of the trainers are so friendly and invested in your workouts. I have always struggled to maintain a workout routine. My. Whole. Life! Well, I have now been a member of The Bar Method for over 2 years and I have taken over 300 classes. Here are some specifics of why this place is so amazing: the instructors are super meticulous to form and making sure that every move you do is perfect in order to be most effective to results and safest for your body over time, the workouts are reasonable time length and hit every muscle in your body, you WILL see changes in your body and overall physical and mental health, the classes are challenging no matter what your fitness level but there are modifications for everyone so ANYONE can do it. I am a physician and mom to 2 little boys. I started my membership during my post-part in fitness journey with #1 and once I lost all the weight and was in great physical shape, I did it all again and managed to do classes through the entirety of my second pregnancy-literally taking my last class the week before baby came-and as soon as I was cleared I was back at it. I have never once felt out of place or intimidated. The instructors and staff are amazingly friendly and truly foster a welcoming and encouraging atmosphere. I was brought as a guest to The Bar Method class and enjoyed it so much I immediately signed up for a membership! The instructors constantly are checking your form to make sure that you are in the best position so as not to injure yourself and to get the best workout in. The Couples Bartending Class was great. Gorgitenders is perfectly located in Federal Hill. It was not hard to find, nor was it difficult to find parking. Starting with the aesthetically pleasing and welcoming environment, I really loved how every detail appeared to be well thought out. It definitely looks like a high-end bar. We were greeted with a beautiful array of finger foods and delicious mimosas, and our instructor let us enjoy the moment without rushing to get the course started. During the actual course, I really appreciated the patience and level of detail provided when Chimaya was explaining the make-up of each drink, the glassware used, and the most importantly the pour counts. She even took the time to explain the purpose of all of the equipment behind the bar, the organization of the spirits, and how to properly serve patrons. Definitely no shortage of professionalism, and no question about Chimaya's skill level. Overall, I highly recommend Gorgitenders for a date night, group event, or even if you want to get certified.Allison Lester

I just finished my bartending course with Gorgitenders Bartending Academy and I could not recommend it more! I was exceptionally nervous as this is a new industry for me but Chimiya, the owner, greeted me the first morning with such kindness and warmth, I knew I had made the right decision. My instructor, Martin, was absolutely amazing and very patient as I worked through each module. He was very encouraging and always made me feel like I was capable. Both him and Chimiya are incredibly knowledgeable about the industry and were able to share first hand experiences that I just wouldn't be able to find anywhere else. This gym is fantastic. I recently dropped in and before I arrived I traded emails with Nicole. She was so excited to have us. She even emailed me to explain how Friday night lights would work with Open Workout 19.1. When we arrived, Geo greeted us with a big smile. We felt right at home instantly. The facility is top notch and the coaches were warm & friendly. They lead by example. I have been doing Crossfit for 6+ years and one of the things I’ve come to love about it is the community. There is no where else I’ve been that has the type of atmosphere that Harbor East has. Truly a pleasure to meet the staff and throw down with everyone. I was in town for a couple of weeks and was looking for a nearby Crossfit gym that I could attend before work, and I found the best one in Fells Point! The gym is located just minutes away from many hotels and the Inner Harbour. The workouts are great, but the people are better! The coaches are highly knowledgeable and are always willing to help. Even though I was only in for a couple weeks, I instantly felt the community vibe and the positive, welcoming space the gym created.
