Below is a post from our current Toledo supervisor: I don’t know how far word has traveled yet, but I am now the head supervisor at Community EMS Toledo division, when I started at community (against all the rumors I had heard before I accepted the job), I then quickly realized after I started everyone was right, and that I was going to probably quit in very short time, but I didn’t, I stayed, and then community did something right, they promoted my supervisor, who actually turned the tide of the very poor direction that we were heading in, and changed things substantially in a rather short amount of time, which gave me a little faith to stay, he since sadly had to take a leave of absence, which subsequently I was promoted. I have taken the mentality that Community is going to be one of the best Private EMS companies out there to work for, and I take care of my people, my first concern is always and will always be the people who are the back bone of the company, I know all to well that it is my crew members that make a company run, I don’t need supervisors if I don’t have ambulances, I don’t need a billing department if there are no runs to bill. We have so many good people, with more coming on everyday, I heard a rumbling of well community only has brand new people out of school, well yea sure I have a ton of new people, you have to start somewhere, why not with me, I’ll take new people, and then I’ll make them into something that I’m ok with sending off to where ever the next EMS career takes them. Community only takes people who got fired from another agency, sure do, as my supervisor and mentor said to me, we have to look at why they were fired, did the previous company fail them, were they not given the tools necessary to succeed for that company, sometimes people go through a rough spot and have an unfortunate set of problems, were they askedPatti Simon
