They failed to disclose requiring an absolutely pointless "cornerstone" style class until refusing to let me register for classes for not having taken a useless waste of money course that they didn't tell me I was supposed to waste money on. Now, I'd need special permission, have to take the course on site, and would have to register for only that class (so financial aid goes out the window and loans come due!) Everyone at Forest Park Dental School is wonderful to me. They are punctual with the start time of appointments. Since they are a school, they're always learning new techniques and using up to date technology and pass on their knowledge to me. They always encourage me to take care of my teeth and show me better ways to care for my teeth. I have such a great time going there. They take Mohealthnet Medicaid, so there's no charge. I get X-rays and cleanings. They always do their best from the managers, the teachers, the dentists, and the students. I highly recommend them. They are safe, clean, creative, and careful during the Coronavirus. Because of the Coronavirus they use tools that don't cause splash. They truly care. If you have a problem they can't help you with they refer you to Affinia Dental School. I'm grateful for their handicapped parking in front of the building.Jean Montgomery

If you want to be successful just go somewhere else. The professors do not teach in a way to retain the material, the test and the computer programs used for homework such as the MyOpenLab never matches to what the professors teach in class. Many students attend to gain science and math classes for their premed studies, if this is you, avoid at all means. The science department does not help students, and look for students to repeat course just to make more money. Not sure if it’s a cult within the department or what. And there is almost always no one on campus to help with tutoring. Please avoid! Unhelpful, negligent, or even downright racist staff. Ridiculous required classes that are frankly redundant to high school or useless. Refused to pay me the scholarships and wages they promised me for my work and qualifications for scholarships. Repeatedly have made it very clear they just want my money without providing any services of even considerable quality. I've tried to address this with the school and they have not even tried to communicate back with me for 9 out of my 10 attempts. This school is good but the instructor in the fundamentals class is no help I reach out to her at the beginning of the semester for help. she told me that she don’t get paid enough to be coming up with no 200 practice questions and told me to use my resources. They like to belittle you and say I got my degree aren’t you trying to get yours. I've been attending this school for a year now and it's horrible. The technology used in class is way outdated. They need a total upgrade because they place looks rundown. The professors are nice people but horrible instructors. I guess that's why they're teaching at a community college. The students there are very ghetto and immature. And all of my classes' subject matter is way to easy for a 9th grader to comprehend. It's definitely not a college level school. That's why I'm transferring to SLU next semester.The Legend

This is for the billing department: I would suggest not setting up auto pay for a medical bill. If you can send payments in or pay in full but do not give them authorization to debit automatically. I set up a payment plan and needed to change the due date a month before the payment was set to debit from my card. The day finally came to debit and they decided to take 50.00 more than what I set the plan up for. I called and was able to get the 50 refunded but the lady informed me there was a note on my account by a supervisor stating because I changed the date the plan took double and I was informed when I changed the date by a pop up box thru MyChart. That doesn’t make any sense at all. Why would someone go thru with changing the date of something to get double debited. If that was the case I may as well have set the plan up for 100.00. Anywho, today I get a notification from my bank stating another 100.00 dollars debited. Again the plan was only set for 50.00. So what’s the excuse this month??? Having attended a number of 4 year universities, I am rather impressed with the quality of the instruction here … and at a fraction of the cost. As traditional private four year universities hunker down and concentrate on obtaining federal grants, and begging for scraps from alumni while generally ignoring the students, this school's mission is primarily educational. Sure the food isn't gourmet, and all the students aren't hand picked from private schools via house recruiters … but, in honesty, this school is more academically rigorous than many private universities, and without all the fluff that costs a pretty penny in tuition. In addition, unlike private universities, one can take classes here just for fun without breaking the bank; many such classes and certifications are offered for those wishing self-improvement and to learn without academics raining on their parade. I particularly recommend the Horticulture Program, it is both top notch and unique.Andrew Covey

I'm wrapping up my associates soon. Meramec is a pretty good college. Advisors are ok, very hit and miss but my advisor was great. Admissions people were not as great. Financial aid is good. Professors are 80% good and 20% bad. The bad ones are REALLY bad and drag down your experience here. Use "rate my professor" or talk to other students to find the good professors. I had a class with a professor that told us he hated his job and we could tell because that class was hell. I doubt many universities are any better because every place has at least a few bad professors. Do your research, advocate for yourself, sign up for good courses, and you will do great and save a ton of money.Katya R

Ever since I started here online a year ago and it’s impossible to get ahold of anybody through email or phone (only options due to Covid) for any questions you have and sometimes you get different answers for the same questions. Next: if you’re taking Human Growth and Development stay away from Diane Pisacreta. I had some questions regarding a quiz (yes I already read the syllabus I needed further info) and she emailed me back saying “read your syllabus”. I replied and said I did and I needed further information she replied again saying “you need to read your syllabus”. She refused to help me and I can’t get ahold of anyone else to talk to this issue about. Moral of the story, if you want somewhere with open communication don’t go her. Not worth the time or money. Beautiful campus with dedicated faculty, but Management here is not good and I would recommend going somewhere else for your Gen Ed courses. All adjuncts, and all online. I myself was an adjunct professor of mathematics and they also pay their instructors far less than the surrounding colleges/universities. This really limits our ability to serve the student body. I have seen students misadvised in order to repeat a course for the money. Feels like a business not an institution of higher education. Most instructors in math department are from high school and don't have the depth of modern mathematics. Nobody I spoke with was even aware of modern mathematical concepts such as algebraic topology or stochastic processes.Adamm Hockman

I had the worst experience taking college algebra at the wildwood location. My class was taught by Ms. Brown, she was condescending, sassy, rude. And overall just didn't put a positive vibe into the class she would say things like "if you dont understand this now, you wont on the homework, you wont on the quiz, and you wont on the test so your going to fail you are wasting your time." Her syllabus was unclear, and if you asked for a clarification she acted like you were dumb. Also she stands at the front of the class telling everyone to hurry up when she gives out tests. If you are looking to take College Algebra during summer at STLCC to transfer to a university (like mizzou) DONT.Adriene Davidson

The staff at the registrars office needs a lot of work. They have made the process of requesting a transcript a disaster. As a "catholic" educational institute the school should understand the need of transcripts and do their best to accommodate students in there path of continuing education. The staff needs to work on both their customer service skills and conflict resolution practices. The behavior of the staff during phone conversations and email correspondence has been completely inappropriate. Our firm would separate from individuals with their antics as soon as possible. I have been requesting my transcript since July 28 and my new school has still not received it. It my understanding that my transcript was finally sent on August 8 but I have been given no proof of that. UMSL understood my concerns on the situation and offered to accept the transcript via email. I sent an email to SLU at 10:40 asking them to send my transcript to UMSL via email as soon as possible. After hearing no response, I sent two additional emails at 12:30 and 2:00 but still received no response or indication my emails had even been requested. I finally called the school at 2:30 and the assistant registrar argued with for several minutes about how I was insulting and didn't allow them time to respond. However, she was well aware of the situation and knew who I was before I even mentioned my name. Instead of arguing for several minutes with a disrespectful attitude the correct method for resolution would have been apologizing for my experience and trying to accommodate my needs. After I explained it is taking more time to argue then to fix the situation I was told it would be emailed that day. At 3:30 I received a completely inappropriate email in which I responded with my concerns on how the school handled the situation. In my opinion the school is more of hassle than it is worth. You should always put the education of your students or former students first instead of treating someone with utter disrespect. I have asked to sit down with whoever oversees the registrars office. I have several suggestions on how the staff can improve and work with students in a respectful and helpful matter.Chelsea Langeneckert

It's a private university, so it costs more than others in the area, but if you have financial need or have great grades, you can get a LOT of help. The school itself feels very separate from the surrounding area. It's almost as if going into another city when you step off campus. The professors are wonderful, the reputation is good, and honestly the grounds are beautiful. I don't regret my time here and would happily attend again.Chelsea

St.louis is so lucky to have such a prestigious school in the heart of our city. Its so pretty and the campus is is pretty quiet at the moment due to covid but when everyone is on campus everyone you pass smiles and if you ever need help find a building everyone is willing to help point out the direction you need to go. I work at Twin Oaks at Stone Ridge in Wentzville. We are a senior apartment complex which by it's nature comes with frequent visits from ambulance district. We are so blessed to have both fast, kind, and respectful responses from the ambulance district. When seconds can matter, we never worry about how long help is going to take. They also do helpful and fun community outreach providing CPR and first aid classes, File of Life emergency information kits, and even helped program I.C.E. (in case of emergency) contact info into our resident's cell phones. I got my CPR certification with American Heart Association at the St. Louis base. Before attending the class, I was super nervous and didn’t think I’d be able to pass. But it was much less complex than I anticipated, and the two/three hours went by much quicker than I thought it would. The instructor was easy going and new well how to coach us! All the learning is tought virtually through recorded videos, however, the instructor also summarizes what was said. Personally, if you're political beliefs lean to the left, you'll probably enjoy it here. If you're like me and you lean far to the right, you'll probably hate it here. Keep in mind that I was at the south campus where all the nursing students are at. So this may not apply to the entire campus. This isn't my first time at UMSL, but it will be my last. I used to think that people saying that college campuses were liberal strongholds was a myth, I found out the hard way that its not. There are gender neutral bathrooms and the campus police even called me directly when they were concerned that I was concealed carrying on campus. So needless to say, they're not exactly pro 2nd amendment on college grounds for the sake of "public safety." In short, i don't think this college teaches you much in terms of being independent. Hell, the BSN program didn't even recognize the critical thinking and analytical skills I got from my history degree, and they sure as hell didn't like how troublesome I was in their program for being a dude. Jokes on them I suppose, I passed the NCLEX after not studying for 6 months, putting forth minimal effort, and after failing a class. YEAH!!! Passed on the first try too. No joke.David Wang

The University of Missouri St Louis delivers the same quality education and has the same admissions standards as the rest of the university system. It just happens to be right here in our fine metro area instead of a dumpy little town in the middle of the state. I graduated from UMSL seven years ago and my education has served me well. I had fantastic professors and have been excited to see how much they have expanded and improved residential life since I lived on campus a decade ago. When I’m ready to start grad school, I have no doubt this is where I’ll go. They offer the best value and most options for working adults. Yes, parking is and probably always will be an issue. I was ticketed unfairly a few times in my day but every time I disputed a ticket, it was waived. The reality is that there’s a limited amount of space and a lot of people competing for those spaces so the police do tend to be pretty hard core about ticketing. Put simply, if you want access to a limited resource, you should be prepared to pay for it. There are some amazing economics professors on campus that would be happy to provide a lesson in supply and demand.Kim H

Better than I thought it'd be but still would not recommend going here if you don't have to. The Rec is amazing and some teachers I've had were great. But most teachers are not, I feel like they don't take into account the feedback you give, most offices in the student center are not very helpful and the school needs some serious parking, road and sidewalk improvements. Also side note, I had my license plates stolen in one of their main parking lots. How do they not have surveillance cameras? I think this school has potential but for me to raise my rating they need to improve their customer service, education quality and infrastructure. Instead of spending money on new buildings as well as incentive payments and over the top car allowances for executives they should fix up the buildings they already have and provide students with a higher quality education experience. I mean the goal ultimately is to raise attendance and make more money right? Building more buildings doesn't equal more people filling up those buildings.Tristan H

The students tend to be rambunctious, but most teachers are helpful and spend extensive time outside of normal class hours to help students as long as they ask. Both my girls have gone here and each year the school has added more rigorous courses to challenge the students. The performing arts department is phenomenal with a newly built auditorium and the engineering department molds successful students starting from freshman year. Often, the only you will ever hear bad things about this school is due to the poor choices of a small population of repeated offender students. Ritenour allows these students all the chances for changing their path and consequentially rarely ever expel students. The attendance isn't the best, but there are so many collaborations with both students and staff that the high school faces it heads on while keeping into consideration the opinion of the student bodies. I have been a Ritenour all my life and i absolutely love it here. Ritenour school district is small so we are all are family too each other. I am doing really well at Ritenour with all my success and what they offer is so much that can help you get into college. There are some teachers who are here for the pay checks, but there are many more who actual care for there job and love the students and i know many of them personal. The students are going to be students at the end of the day and can't really change what they do that's at any school. Ritenour do what they can to solve the problems because i have had problems but have been solved quickly due to Ritenour staff. Ritenour is just like any other school, but what you put into it thats what you gonna get back and same goes for parents, so you can't blame the school if your not doing your part.Elexis Hubbard

I attended the four week course and ABSOLUTELY loved it! I wished it was longer only because it was such an engaging experience, learning from such a passionate and dedicated group of firefighters and/or paramedics from various municipalities. Every single one of them, including Kelly (Academy Owner) was there to help in any way they could. I often stayed after class each day to spend some extra time asking questions or gaining insight into different aspects of being in EMS and the instructors were always happy to stay and offer their support and guidance. The instructors were not only extremely knowledgeable but also very passionate about what they do and it carried over into their ability to efrectively teach their students. Further, they did not just want us to make it through the program and pass our NREMT exams, but genuinely spent every minute trying to mold us into quality EMTs, ready for a new and successful career. Unfortunately, my class was unable to complete clinical hours due to covid (Kelly tried really hard to make it happen for us), but the clinical sites would not approve EMT students (from any school). To make up for the lost clinical hours, Kelly and the instructors created an extra day for us to experience mock EMS scenarios. These guys came in on their day off, some fresh off of a 48 hour shift, to make sure we were not cut short and did everything they could to ensure we left the program feeling confident. That is dedication! I cannot say enough good things about this program. Thank you Kelly and all of the instructors so very much! (BTW: Myself and all students who signed up for the exam… passed their practical skills test for the national registry the day after the course ended. I enrolled in one of the 4-week courses and have nothing but praise for this program. Our instructors were all extremely knowledgeable about everything EMS and prepared myself and my classmates extremely well for our national exams. The class was challenging, but completely fair and set me up for success as I continued onward. I was nervous about how quickly the 4-weeks would go by at first, but the schedule was set up in a way to give us ample time to both learn the material and get plenty of practice on the skills and assessments we needed to learn. Unfortunately, I had to wait a few weeks before being able to take my first national exam after completing the course, however Kelly and our instructors went above and beyond by allowing us to come in and continue practicing during the time in-between the course and testing, to ensure we all succeeded.
