I loved being a student and now, working at Crown! I grew up in a smaller town, so the small town feel helped it feel a bit more like home. I also enjoy the many acres of land. I am disappointed they haven't built a baseball field yet, but other than that, they have a fantastic disc golf course, brand new football stadium, and even a softball field. And not to mention the beautiful rolling hills with trails to walk. And the Professors?! Don't even get me started- FANTASTIC!Alyssa Kranz

My overall experience at Crown was good, but was very disappointed in my last semester at the lack of care and empathy given to students. While prayers are nice, prayers without any empathy or action behind them don't mean anything. Even more disappointing the lack of care came from so called mental health professionals. Think twice before attending this institution. I was enrolled to begin classes in the fall semester. One week before they began, DCTC contacted me saying they no longer offered the program that I signed up for. Again, ONE WEEK before classes began. This left me almost no time to scramble around looking for another school to attend for the fall semester. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The whole process just felt off anyway. They were always slow to respond, they fought every step of the way when I presented transfer credits from another institution. I was somewhat relieved in a way knowing I wouldn't have to deal with them any further. What a waste of time.Adam

Didn’t have the best experience overall. The instructor for the automotive technology class was only genuine once while he was teaching me something. Every other time, there was sarcasm and rudeness when trying to ask him questions. Not to mention half of the kids (quote “kids”) in the class were constantly on their phones and messing around. I wouldn’t have minded, except that we were placed in groups, therefor graded as a group. Received my second degree here and they accepted a respectable number of credits from a previous college. Someone from admin called me a year or so after graduation and asked if I had gotten anywhere with my degree. When he found out what I was doing and where I had gotten in life he nearly dropped the phone. Thanks DCTC for sending me places in life I didn’t think were possible. The school is great I would give it 5 stars. The on campus housing I would give zero stars. Just don't live on campus, there is a lot of crime in the housing. My first year here was great I didn't have a problem. This year is my second year and I have had bad luck with my whole roommate situation. I have had my stuff get stolen on two separate occasions. The first time my mini fridge and a poster got stolen I went to the housing directors and they said to me. "I don't know what you want me to do about it it's not like I can go check every ones dorm." They do have the authority to go and do that, because they did it early this year when one of the R.A.'s got some of his stuff stolen. Also they didn't want me to fill out a report about it because they have to send all of the crime reports to the state and it all goes up online. They will try to discourage people from filling out the reports and will not even tell you about it unless you ask to fill one out. My mini fridge eventually showed up, because I was asking every one about it and my guess is who ever took it got scared and ditched it. The second time stuff was stolen from me I had a whole cupboard of food stolen and the housing director won't do anything. Depending on your roommate situation you can have a great time or a terrible time, If I would have known I was going to have such bad roommates and the housing directors wouldn't do anything I would have lived off campus. Last year I didn't want the school year to end, and now I can't wait to leave and go home. So if you come to VCC I would highly suggest living off campus because this is a great school, it's just the housing situation isn't the greatest. It is also cheaper to live off campus then it is to live on campus. This is still a great school to come to great classes and teachers will help you out if you need it. Don't decide to not come because of what I wrote about because this is the best school I have ever seen.barry melrose

I currently attend a different college online. I have four remaining courses left of my program, three are offered spring semester while one isn't offered until fall. The one course I need that isn't available at my current college is available at Inver Hills which is why I enrolled in the course for spring. Upon completion, the course I take will transfer back to my original college so I can graduate spring. I have worked out all the details with my current college about this arrangement. I need Inver Hills to provide some bits of information and complete a form. I have spent the last week calling Inver Hills to which nobody responds. I have tried calling different departments-financial aid, admissions, etc. to which nobody responds. I have sent multiple emails to which I received only one response telling me to look at the Web site. Inver Hill's communication with students is terrible! This is ridiculous. What are the advisors and admission staff doing all day where they cannot be bothered to answer a phone call, email, or provide information?!Kat Elizabeth

I haven't even started the semester yet and have had everything that could possibly go wrong do so. They transferred my credits incorrectly which set back my registration by a few weeks, after two months my financial aid is still "processing" even after multiple phone calls being reassured it would be through the next day. Having no financial aid means my text book order was cancelled. And a week before classes start they dropped one of my courses putting me short on credits for graduation. No matter what time of day I call any department no one ever seems to answer and we play phone tag for days. All in all my experience seems to indicate that no one really cares about helping students and just goes through the motions. Happy the majority of my classes are online and I won't have to deal with anyone on campus for the most of the semester.Katelyn Niesen

I must ask those who complained about this school why did you enroll? I found my education and time here at Inver Hills highly useful. Why spend 64 credits when you can earn your 2 year degree for 60 credits and half the cost of your tuition at other community colleges? If you make the most of your time in school and do your work on time. You could get a lot out of it and done with a degree with the field of your choice. You can even take an advanced degree such as a Bachelors here. I love that I do not need to go to a main campus and take courses at IHCC. I am back to finish a few credits at IHCC and transfer to Metro State University to complete my Bachelors. Just like you shop for cars, the latest technology, and other stuff why not compare schools? They want everyone to attend classes on campus. Come on. They proudly and loudly proclaim "Saint Paul College – We're Back this Fall". There are multiple new COVID variants out now with record hospitalizations in MN but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife and I are both working from home. Our employees cared enough about our safety to let us do this, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife is taking classes at a private college and they told her all classes will be online, at least for now. No need to risk your health and come in, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. Thankfully I did my research by talking to them and decided against going here. Spending a little more so that I can stay at home and take my Lit classes online. Don't bother with this place. If you can, spend a little extra and have the peace of mind that you won't end up in the ICU with a tube down your throat. There, I did my research so you don't have to. Feel free to call them. I havnt attended this school, & along with my experience so far & reading the reviews I may not. I have a degree; however, I work as a nursing assistant. I love my job, but I often see aids being treated pretty poorly. So, as I get older, I thought maybe I could look into being an LP . In this role, I could work fairly with the aides around me…blah, blah, blah. So I requested more information. I recieved no call back, only an email saying I had to put an application in. Eh, no. I ate at the City View Cafe at St. Paul College. This is the cafe that is operated by the students in the culinary program. I recently enjoyed the Valentines Tasting menu and it was fantastic. The only criticism I had for the meal was the shell on the dessert was a bit thick (I cannot believe I am complaining about dessert). It was hard to gracefully eat but it was so worth it. The combination of flavors was divine. If this meal was any indication of the talent these students have, we are going to have sone great chefs (hopefully in the Twin Cities area) in the future.Sharon Moen

I will be completely honest. I did some PSEO courses here and thought it was a nice campus. There is some struggles and problems with the school, but nothing to make this not a choice for a college. Teachers are nice, most of the students are fine and just do there own thing, there is a couple of clubs and activities, and the class sizes see to be reasonable (smaller than JMHS). I think it is a good campus and should be considered an opinion and not thrown to the curb when looking for local colleges.Burner Account

What a joke… My wages are currently being levied for a semester I did not even get to attend! The Financial Aid/Counselor I worked with helped me sign up for all the classes needed for that semester but did not inform me that I had no available financial aid. By the time, I discovered this (3 weeks into class) it was too late to withdraw without paying full price. I called multiple people at the school but all refused to help or did not know how to help. I went to this Community College back in the Mid-2000s. When I first started, I scored very low on the English/Math/Comprehension Reading so I had to start with the prerequisite course before I could entered the college level courses. After a year and a half, I struggled with the academic (English/Math/Comprehension Reading) and all the teachers I had at that time would just advise me to go to the computer lab/learning room for help and never did help me improve on a one-on-one basic. I felt like I was never appreciated in those classes. At that current time, D2L was starting in place so portion of the classes' discussion/homework were online. I still remember other students never helping me and always correcting or making fun of my errors in writing. There was a teacher's conference one-on-one meeting with every student and I still remembered it until this day. The last words from that teacher was, " With how you are doing in this class, you will not make it and I would have to fail you." I dropped out of Century College soon after and owed a couple thousand dollars in debt. Long story short: Then I decided to transferred to InverHills Community College (IHCC) and that was where the difference came in. The feeling and care for the students were so different. Teachers' there at InverHills Community College were able to help and assist me to improve my academic issues that I had. I still remember a teacher staying 30 minutes-45 minutes later after class just to help me everytime. I graduated at IHCC with my associate's degree then proceed onwards to finishing my Double Major Bachelor's Degree at MetroState University.John Bradley

Apathetic faculty providing misinformation at an obvious cash grab. The counselors are useless and ended up providing me with false information that delayed my education while also costing me thousands of dollars. They absolutely refused to take any responsibility and side-stepped my inquiries every single time. While I did have some excellent instructors, it was always a toss up what type of instructor I would get. Four times out of five I ended up with an instructor who either didn't care about the class they were teaching or just plain didn't have the aptitude to teach the class. Most times I ended up teaching my courses to myself. There really seems to be no standard of education that the faculty strives for. I would not recommend anyone to attend this college. Before I get a response from anyone at Century I'll make it known that I have no interest in filling out any sort of suggestion card or survey. Enroll here. I'm highly satisfied with my experience at Century College as a student. The post-secondary education community here has gone beyond my expectations to support my continued education as a transfer student. I'm thankful for the experienced instructors, who have given me a wealth of knowledge here. The support staff are excellent, including TLC, Writing Center, Math Center, Advising, Counseling, Information Technologists, and Librarians. They connect students with excellent resources outside of the classroom. This is not a day class, or a college course, or a scam. This is a Boot Camp led by a team who will force you to become a good EMT and have fun. Get up at 7 am to be there by 8, grab some coffee and start taking vitals and comparing homework or checking in with your group, attend lectures and complete assignments. Lots of demonstrations, videos, and the instructors tell tons of stories from their fields. I heard the most hilarious stories from Dan and Loren but everyone there has good humor and entertains while lecturing. Caleb was my favorite, the guy is so knowledgeable and concise and has a great voice. Everyone is pretty passionate about the subject matter and knows how to prevent boredom from setting in. We learn whole chapters and at a time during lectures and they give plenty of time to directly and thoroughly answering questions. After lectures, there's a lot of hands-on learning with mannequins\other people. At first it's just taking turns helping people stand up and learning how to take blood pressures or give epi but they get more and more realistic, by the end we'd get dispatched over the radio for a 911 call and have to push through a barricaded door into a dark room with music blasting and someone sobbing with open wounds or help a burn victim after an explosion. Maybe someone calls for a headache and I know that's just Nicole, but she's very good at her job so she's confused and losing consciousness and it 100% feels like a real patient having an emergency and sometimes we succeeded in saving the patient and sometimes we didn't. Every scene was a mystery and wrong decisions had consequences and it was designed to feel serious, everyone's rushing to set up the O2 tank or stop bleeds or figure out why the patient can't breathe. Jessa and Paige and John and the guy who looks kinda like Jack Black all gave us a hard time and really got in character with props and attitudes and as a theater kid myself I was impressed, they went the extra mile with everything. It was good information to have but it was fun, too. Class lasts around 12 hours but after the adrenaline and cramming and socializing, it often feels later. Get back to the hotel(a good discount is offered through Unitek) and study notes to pass your quizzes, do homework, type patient care reports. Or go to the bar with your new friends and talk about needing to study and end up getting a solid 3 hours of sleep. Tea, coffee, and hot cocoa are always available. There's always leftover lunches and dinners in the fridge as well. Lunch and dinner include a main dish, side dish, and sometimes a dessert. It's real food, too, the chicken might be kinda dry but it's no sack lunch. There's also vending machines and a nearby circle k in case you need another energy drink. It's an extremely challenging, stressful class and a lot of people wereconvinced at one point that they were going to fail or have to quit. It feels impossible to achieve everything expected for graduation and everyone has such a different background that it starts to feel hopeless at times, but the staff just push you through to the end and before you know it you're reciting all the acronyms and procedures and walking out with your certificate. The staff there are awesome, supportive, and trustworthy, everyone instructor was someone's favorite. Everyone cares a lot there. I would recommend this for anyone with determination and willingness to trust the process, regardless of skill level or experience, because they've seen it all and they've got your back. I already kinda miss it. 10\10 recommended, I'm lucky I came here.Green

It's very rare that you are thrown into a room between 40 other people who all have the same goal in mind, and who are all phenomenal individuals in their own right. Unitek was an incredible experience. The structure of the lessons and the pace of learning are very well researched and thought out. Each chapter was well involved, and the instructors left plenty of room for questions. This is, by far, the best EMT course in the nation. Everything combined made it the perfect way to learn and to push yourself. One of the other guys in the class had taken another EMT course, and had taken the NREMT, and said that he learned way more at Unitek than his other course. If you have the right attitude and determination, this course is for you.Sean Dickson

Incredible instructors. Each one has practical experience and shares that knowledge with the students. An intense course that prepares you for the EMS profession. Definitely prefer it over a longer and more drawn out course. They do an excellent job balancing lecture and hands-practice and you will come out of it prepared to work. I passed my NREMT exam on the first try because of the excellent job they do preparing you for the test. They also pay for your first two attempts and for a review service that was extremely helpful. it seems like a good place by how it looks on the inside and out, so I don't question its legitimacy. But the way communication is done is very iffy. It doesn't make me wonder if anything is dubious is going on, but it's very blatantly disorganized. they're not good at getting back to emails and phone calls, and I went in to talk to someone in person and even that was disorganized. the community speaks very highly of it, so I'm still going to give it a shot with the classes, but I am very skeptical of how this is going to go. Edit: they scheduled a class on veterans day causing people to miss a day into training and certifications because of that day. veterans day isn't new, and I feel it was a very negligent for them to not plan that out better. They also don't keep up with their website, flyers, and updates. This is all really poor communication, on their end. They don't even care to give a call to let you know building is closed when in fact exam is scheduled and after taking off time from work when i arrive its closed. and when i call them they were so careless and the lady who picked the phone try to tell me pearson due should have notified you and should have known we are closed … she says the person who can help you not working this week and call next week ? is this customer service ? I was pulling up to check out the school and meet a cousin who lived close by I was told I didn’t belong and to leave had the cops called and because I don’t have to explain to a rude human who accused me of committing crimes I am very pregnant I get they have a lot of drug addiction issues due to the camp by the light rail but the disrespect and the fact I was attacked by a employee was what drove me away I will never attend this programHailey Thomas

I learned about BATA when I was doordashing one day and i’m so glad I did because I love it! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to become an EMT or just looking for experience. The VP of BATA, Nicky, is awesome and very understanding! My instructors Paul Bieber and Steve Albright are the best instructors I could’ve asked for. They make such a great learning environment and have a fun way of teaching. Another great thing about BATA is that you get so much hands on experience, meet tons of cool people/instructors and learn new skills such as how to backboard, use spider straps, how to use a gurney, etc. and also get to go on ride alongs with different ambulance companies. My first ride along was with Dominic LaMonica and Kyle Sylvia, who are two Westmed EMTs. I’m so appreciative of them and how they taught and treated me during my ride along. It was such an exciting experience and they made sure I was comfortable and that I was included the whole time. I did the 3 week course and had Scott as my instructor. The program was definitely intense and filled with lots of information. However, Scott converted the dense lecture material into simpler terms. He would always include funny, interesting anecdotes that enhanced my learning experience. He was very supportive of everyone in the class and always answered my questions thoroughly. I also want to thank my skills instructors (Dakota, Frank, Ben, Scotty, and Tank) for being so helpful throughout the course. They made sure that we practiced the EMT skills numerous times and were really helpful as well. Although this class was extremely fast paced, I wouldn’t choose any other program. The absolute best. Did the 3 week EMT course and was extremely worried coming into the first day. Immediately felt comfortable after the first interaction. I, as along with many others (I suspect) had found AMT via Google as one of the only accelerated EMT-B courses in the Twin Cities area. One of the major reasons why this course appealed to me was because I'm pre-med, and that time is limited. The biggest hump to signing up was was the costly up-front for fee for registration for such an online-hybrid EMT-B course, but I now having gone through with it, I'm quite happy that I did. I found that besides the website's testimonials, there was not much information in regards to client experiences, and that is mainly why I'm writing this review. The hybrid course is split up into two distinct parts. The first part is online, and the second is in-person at one of their two facilities (Edina or St. Paul facility, which is of your choice). The online portion of the class tests your patience (in a good way)–having to read, watch a video-lecture (~1 hour each), and be quizzed individually on each of the 39 chapters of its EMT textbook (Emergency Care 13th edition). This isn't by any means taking away from the class because it is what you signed up for (hence, it is an accelerated hybrid course). You just have to know what you're getting yourself into–especially if you're in a time crunch. I would advise that the minimum time spent to finish the online portion of the course is around 39 days (which would be ~1 chapter per-day). I would think that anything less than that, and you wouldn't be digesting the material well enough, which is critical for passing the Final exam of the online portion. But that's my opinion. The in-person ("Skills-week") is the highlight of this course, which is a display of group-focused activities, the usage of refined-teaching methods, and the sharing of valuable real-world experiences by its passionate faculty and staff (all of whom are very experienced in EMS themselves). The in-person section of the course is specifically focused around teaching material that's required for the NREMT psychomotor exams (which is the physical application of your textbook material), and is tested on at the end of Skills-week. Due to the short and expedited nature of in-person portion of the class, you may find yourself needing to repeat these psychomotor skills over-and-over again to brand them into memory, but that is more-or-less expected, and the staff are more than happy to help you with that. Lastly, the "When do I start?" question is important (especially, for us pre-meds). Unfortunately, that one is pretty unclear. This really depends on three factors: (1) How quickly you're able to schedule your NREMT exam following course completion, (2) How long it takes to receive your state licensure after passing the exam, and (3) Whether or not the hiring company will make a hire an while you're still in training. From what I've heard, you can expect 1-3 months until then. P.S. Even though this is stated on their website, I'll restate it here–These courses fill up especially quickly in the summer (several months before hand), and you better schedule them quick if you want that.Anders Nelson

I found that Allied Medical Training was challenging, but VERY helpful in a way that the instructors pushed you to your limit and challenged you to know the material well enough to feel exceptionally comfortable with hands-on medical situation. It's not supposed to be a 'piece of cake' people! That's why I thought Allied Medical did a nice job, because they weren't just handing out certificates to just anyone. They challenged individuals to know the material well enough to feel really comfortable handling a medical situation. People really need to know this stuff if they are receiving a medical grade certificate that citizens are trusting us to know! Thanks Allied Medical Training for a great experience!Dustin Petersen

Allied Medical Training is a top notch EMS training facility. I took the EMT class starting at the end of September 2021 and then went down for my skills week in the twin cities over the first weekend of December. In January I took my National Registry test and passed on the first attempt. This is an excellent choice for EMS training since the flexibility of taking the course classroom portion online at your own time and pace and then go down for 7 days to complete the skills. The course instructors are knowledgeable and have experience in the EMS field is various capacities. Strongly would recommend to anyone interested in looking for a flexible course to get into EMS!Andrew Browne

Worst customer service at this location I've seen in a while. Ordered pants on their site for pickup. Within just over a day I am getting emails telling me to pick it up. Ok, I call the store and speak to a gentleman who tells me I can pick up tomorrow. Ok again. In the middle of the night I get an email telling me they canceled it. I get up first thing and call the store. This time a get a female who also told me she sees the order and I'm fine. About an hour later I show up and I'm told it's canceled and now they proceeded to ring me up at full price telling me there's nothing they can do. This is a great store that we must support! Great patch of the month. I wear 5.11 clothing everyday, and it wears like nails. They have awesome sales, and even some amazing special sales. Like the 1/2 price bag pack for holidays, yes already bought mine, that will be great for airline travel. Has an awesome CCW area for those that need it. Picked up some new shirts, and my wife loves the light jackets, sweatshirts and shirts. She gets compliments at work and has turned on some of her lady friends into converts. A pretty run of the mill Noodle & Co location. There is a nice variety of dishes to select from, and the food is prepared well, although maybe a bit pricey. Ordering online is really simple and there is a rewards program as well. Pick up order waits are reasonable, and the food is always ready to go on time. Top notch Noodles and Co. Favorite Minneapolis location. theres paid parking nearby but if your just picking up you’ll be fine without paying. Staff is very nice, friendly, knowledgable which is usually rare in Minneapolis, where most employees look miserable. I always either get the Korean Beef Noodle or the Buffalo Mac and Cheese (small) and a cesar salad. Their sides always hit the spot, the pot stickers are good too.Emily Braverman

I'll never donate again, after what happened to me. Went to give blood at local church, but was rejected after the assistant botched it. She struck the wrong vein, then proceeded to twist the needle back and forth, while shoving it in deeper. It was very painful. She then pulled it out and sent me on my way. I've given dozens of times, and regularly every 8 weeks. I've never been treated so awful, even from the newbies. My arm was black and blue. I tried to contact the Red Cross to complain, but the only message I got was "sorry, hope to see you again." If my donation is SO needed, and it is SO urgent, why treat your donors like dirt? Never again.T S

Complete waste of time. 1. They teach you on things that will not be tested but are "good to know". 2. They teach you about 30 mins worth of material in a 4 hour window and drag time on. 3. I showed up for class, the professor was late, we started playing "get to know you games" for 30 mins and then had a 25 min break. I am now 2 hours into my class and finally have begun being taught on what I actually signed up for. RidiculousSpencer Pearson

Complete and utter lack of professionalism. Instructor never showed today after 45 minutes of waiting in their lobby, I've been on the phone with customer service for the past 2 hours trying to fix their mistake. But they're the only major CPR training provider in the area so I'm forced to use them, but their practices have been the WORST I have ever seen in any company ever. Seriously. When I was going to school before COVID, it was really great. I am on my last semester here now, and it's been a struggle. I used to be able to go to the tech departments study room to hang out with peers and get help from tutors. Now, it's practically impossible to get a hold of school counselors, there is MAYBE 1 tutor available, and it ultimately feels like none of the staff really care to much about their jobs. I would have given this school a lower rating, but I understand that this is probably the case for most schools right now. It's just a shame that the year I decided I wanted an education, COVID hits and all of a sudden I no longer get the same services, benefits, attention, and resources I used to get.Joshua Smith

Just joined the COTA program and am loving it. Very nice teachers who really care about our sucesss. It's a lot more work than doing generals but if you know what you want to do it's worth it! Biggest downside to the college is their advising and financial aid staff can be very unhelpful at times and bounce you around from person to Person with no good answers..I have gone to financial aid window a few times and been given a flyer or sent to the bookstore..very frustrating and not helpful. I went to Anoka Ramsey for generals and they had a much better more personal and clear system for helping students. But once all that got figured out I've enjoyed all of my teachers and classes.Lauren Shultz

I can't speak for other programs and their staff, but the Automotive Technician program is outstanding and the Instructors are as well. They are always seeking ways to improve and stay current with the industry. Lessons learned from their experiences in the field are passed on through a great hands on learning. I'm a big believer in hands on learning in fields such as this one. Room theory on the subject to be learned is engaging and easy to follow along. Then, lectures and knowledge is applied in the lab. Great course. Highly recommend above other schools such as UTI and those like it.Zachary Karna

This Company is TERRIBLE! First of all they were VERY rude when they dropped my son off at the hospital. Second the billing department has no idea what they are doing. They only bill out transport with no supporting documentation. With that most insurances will deny as it is not "medical necessary" when there is no supporting documentation. Then when it gets denied you reach out to them to have them resubmit a corrected claim with the supporting documentation and you are told that they CAN'T. They also make YOU do the appeal even thought they have all of the information right at their fingertips. They need more training in the medical insurance billing department as they have no idea how insurance works or how claims are processed. Each time I have called the representatives were VERY rude and disrespectful. All they care about is money NOT helping people!!! WORST EXPERIENCE EVER! IF I COULD GIVE THEM LESS THAN ONE STAR I WOULD!!Morgan H

The paramedics who came for me today were great. Myself and my 7 year old have covid. Child is at end of it and totally fine mild symptoms. I however being asthmatic and post surgery. My BP dropped. And couldn't move without almost fainting. They literally hung around in our apt until someone arrived to pick up my child. As covid positive visitors we're not allowed in the hospital. So he could not go with. Thank you guys for being calm and nice to chat to, while waiting. And making the situation lighter than it felt!Micah Pedrick

Assuming these are the folks that come and pick you up via ambulance. The two young ladies who picked me up today appeared to be fairly new on the job but they were both extremely nice, very compassionate. They barely looked out of college but I still felt comfortable with them during what turned out to be a long ride to the hospital.Mark
