I've been attending FCC since summer of 2016 and will graduate, god willing, this spring 2019. Full time, year round, no breaks. Although parking requires at least an hour grace period, I believe the over all experience is what you make it. I've come across rude people maybe having a bad day and I've had instructors I could not relate to. Its all very frustrating. Its sad to say the success rate at this college is 17%. But, then again this is an adult school. Nobodies going to call your house when your absent or hold a parent-teacher conference when your not doing your work. I am working on a Human Service degree and have enjoyed the ups and downs of my classes. The load was a little heavier in a few and I had to buckle down and utilize the tutorial, ETC, PASS, Computer lab and all other resources available. In all the those places I found the staff and student help extremely eager to be of service. The assistance was much appreciated. I am not speaking for this business itself, merely the college district's education quality. I have taken classes at Fresno, Clovis, and Reedley Community College, and I have had an absolutely deplorable time. I don't feel like I'm getting anything from the classes; I don't feel the staff is prepared to teach online, if at all. If you are going to teach college-level English, you should not make punctuation and grammatical errors consistently. If you are teaching a law class, you should not do it from inherent bias and perspective. If you are conducting an online course, you should not have to hold up a piece of paper because you don't know how to make a slide. If anyone is looking into the medical assistant field please do yourself a favor and look at the pay rate and how much it costs to attend this horrible program. Program costs about 30k and MA barely make that yearly, you can go to a community college for about the same time and get paid to go. I cannot wait for SJVC to get sued for taking advantage of vulnerable people, giving false promises to students of a career in medical assistant, you will not be able to live on that type of low income. You have a better opportunity making more money at Target, most of my credits did not transfer even though I was told they would so I wasted my time. An amazing institution Went here as a student from Feb 2019 until graduation Oct 2019. I was enrolled in the front office medical admin program. 7 months and upon graduation, I passed and got nationally certified for billing/coding. My teacher Ms.Hernandez was amazing, caring and knowledgeable. The school and its staff went above and beyond for me (I was unemployed at the time) and now I am employed and have actual hope for my future. It taught me a variety of skills that applied in many jobs for medical assistants. The bad? It won't teach you everything. It won't get you a Masters Degree and a six figure job. I had previously been accepted to a university, having experience payment issues (that school was wicked expensive) I found SJVC, they help me make a smooth transition from the other school to there and my time there was amazing. Meeting different people from different programs and other people who just didn't want the traditional school experience. I went for my certificate MOA program (took 7 months of class time and 2 months of externship time). Loved my teacher and classmates and learning was easy and I understood all the lessons. I even got on the dean's list after getting my certificate. My career counselor even helped me find my full time job. I usually dont review places or make a fuss about things but in this case I feel obligated to warn people about this program and the people who run it. My name is Luis Alberto Salazar and for personal reasons I go by my middle name, for one whole year that I was enrolled at IOT I would ask Dr. Bar to call me by my middle name, every time she would refuse. This constant battle I had with her made me very uncomfortable to the point where it felt like harassment. She would belittle me and compare me to her child constantly. I felt humiliated in front of the class in multiple occasions. I cant stress enough how important ones name is to their identity. I started my journey at IOT in September of 2019 and I just recently finished school with them in June 2020. I loved my time at IOT. I took night classes which were taught by Mrs. D. Mrs. D is the best teacher I could’ve asked for. She taught us from the book but also shared her experiences in the medical field as well. I appreciated that because I was able to apply that to when I started working in the medical field as well. Overall, I think this is the best vocational school you can go to because the staff really cares to help you, and they offer different class hours to help with our busy schedules. The Heating and Refrigeration training had some awesome teachers that made sure that the students understood the lectures and study materials. Alert Medical Training is definitely the EMT program you’re looking for. I passed the NREMT first time and landed a job at American Ambulance shortly after. All of the instructors including mine, Jon were very helpful and they really care about your future and the success of it. Lori at the front desk was always a great help! I was considering a career change and I definitely do not regret committing to this program. I attended the Sanger Adult School for Phlebotomy from August 1-17th, 2022. (2 1/2week course) I would definitely recommend this course to anyone who is excited about learning Phlebotomy. Our instructor, Mr. Warren was very knowledgeable about everything and answered every question we had. He also made class so much fun and enjoyable through the lectures/ phlebotomy videos/ class time, etc. He made sure we all understood what was to be done. Our other Instructor, Ms. Erica, was also very knowledgeable and answered every question when it came to skills portions in the laboratory, and also helped with resumes, and mock interviews! School staff is very nice but school is extremely unorganized. Everytime I called for assistance about admissions or registration I was given contradictory information. After finally being able to register for classes we were then given a wrong list of books to purchase for the classes (this happened 2 semesters in a row). All we got was an apology and given the correct book list to purchase the correct books.When I tried to book appointment my "advisor" was out on leave for 3 weeks. I got my undergrad here and to sugar coat it, I was not pleased at my experience here. There are always pros and cons to any university and this university was just not a good fit for me. There is a lot of disorganization and some internal conflicts. Just make sure you check out every opportunity and ask good questions before you make a big commitment. FPU does have some great professors. The business professors and bib.lit professors are nice and very personable! In the process of getting my undergraduate degree and this school has easy parking, teachers that are accessible, friendly people on campus, an area for commuters to rest/lounge, and fun community events. It provides a slower paced experience, positive atmosphere, and strengthens your religious beliefs as well as challenging them. I was an agriculture-based major, and had several invaluable opportunities for hands-on experience provided for me during my time at the university. Like most things, I could go through and nitpick every issue I had, but my overall reflection on the university is positive, so I'll abstain. Out of all the community colleges that I've been too. Don't waste your time here. You're better going to Reedley or Fresno city. The front desk staff is very rude whether they're directing your call or answering your questions. Admissions and Records staff give yes and no answers when it comes to questions. They don't take the time to explain to students the reasoning behind anticancer forms. The lowest level of education from instructors was masters degree, the rest were either PHD or MD. All professors were great and willing to do whatever it takes to get you to be successful in their classes. The African American male who helped me at the front desk of the HR hiring even today at the School district was not focused. Was helping me with no confidence of what he was doing and didn’t speak up well. I could hardly understand him. I believe in those jobs you need to be very confident and speak clearly to the public as you are helping them out. I didn’t get this from him. Also the lady who was doing the finger prints was pressing so hard on my finger that she was hurting me. I told to sanitize the machine where I was putting my fingers because she didn’t. And the machine was not accepting my finger prints because the machine was dirty I had sanitized my hands already. She was hurting my finger cause she was so lazy to sanitize the machine. Fresno Adult School is a great establishment that really helps the community and those adults and need that want to further their education or catch up. Did Administration is pretty slow but their prices are fair and reasonable. They have a great facility but honestly there is nothing weird smell to it, like an old smell that doesn't go away. What an amazing place. First and foremost I was able to pass the NREMT within a week of finishing the (accelerated) course. That's ~3 months to become a certified EMT with no background. Secondly, everyone here was extremely professional, patient, and skilled. No BS but also no arrogance. The rotating instructors were super helpful to understand EMS from different perspectives (fire, hospital, ambulance etc.) and always came across as being highly competent even when they weren't trying. Kim and Greg and the rest of the folks running the place are friendly and honest and just great people. I'd say the course focused more on practical and hands-on parts of EMS (skills, demeanor, patient care etc.) then anatomy/physiology, which is exactly what I wanted (there was enough anat/phys to pass the NREMT, also the textbook is handy for additional study). Beyond the in-class days (Mon-Thurs 6-10ppm) I dedicated most of Sunday to the class and was able to pass without a problem. Lastly, they ran an amazing course during a pandemic, and I never felt it was watered down nor felt unnecessarily exposed, which itself is an accomplishment. An excellent EMT course- a lot of work, so be prepared to work- it is worth it and such an accomplishment! Tyler is an extremely effective teacher and would always go out of his way to help us understand any and all information. His practical skills instructors of EMT's and Paramedics were very supportive and focused on being sure that we all became effective and proficient clinicians in the field. The entire staff, Kim in the front office included, continued their support throughout the class. The two internships were eye-opening and a great experience. I was amazed as to how the information, skills and constant practice kept building throughout the course making me more confident each and every week. I felt totally prepared for the final exam and the National Registry Exam by the end of the course. Be aware This is a Rush course if you haven’t been in school in over 10 years like me u will not pass this class I had no background of anatomy & physiology so I dropped out after 6 weeks enrolling in a community college we’re I can learn without being in a rush, I give them 3 stars because the owners of this school don’t care if you pass or fail they only care about your money this 10 week course use to be 13 weeks and they made it shorter to make more money throughout the year the instructors let u go home early most of the time and tell u to go on you tube and finish the chapters lol lesson learned.Patty D

I took the part-time EMT course at the beginning of the year and I absolutely loved it. It is intense, especially if you got other things on your plate (I definitely did) and it gets really hard to balance things out. But I do have to say that the structure of the course, classmates, and instructors had made it very possible. I am especially thankful that I had the opportunity to learn and train under an inspiring, caring, and an overall amazing instructor like Shaun. His encouragement played a big role in pushing each one of us to work harder and he always had ways to engage us and prepare us better for exams. As long as you really invest time and effort into learning the material and even go out of your way at times, you will succeed. Went to West Coast EMT in Riverside about a month ago. Program is accelerated, so you should prepare before you come into class. There is a lot of students who think it will be easy since it’s accelerated and they don’t put much time into studying. The primary instructor Shaun H was wonderful. He made the class fun, he went into great detail with his lectures and he also held each and every student accountable for their time in class. Lindsay, the office manager was also very helpful. I’m only giving this two stars because I had a really (Kyle Matthews) good instructor. But overall the experience was very bad. We had no skills instructors so we had re-attending students teaching us skills training. Also they are never clear about any information so if you have an issue, trying to contact them make sure you send 5 to 6 emails and phone calls. But if you planning on taking this course I recommend that, you take the DAYTIME classes! They don’t seem to care about the night courses. But overall I just feel like the school is just a cash grab. The medic who was dispatched to my home on Tuesday was completely unprofessional, condescending, and treated me like a frequent flyer! I am not one to call 911 just because! After being Advised by my doctor to call immediately I didn’t not think I would have to explain wanting to be taken to the hospital. After engaging in a debate with the paramedic who felt I didn’t need to go to the hospital for extremely high blood pressure I was take by a friend to the hospital. I brought back to be treated immediately because of how dangerously high my blood pressure was. The medic really needs to work on her bedside manner! I didn’t get the names of driver/EMT but it was a male-Female duo responded to an accident on Pacheco by the auto parts in LB Saturday at around noon. They were super professional and caring. I’m hearing impaired they were so patient & understanding. A few years back I was taken to hospital with chest pains and the EMT started an IV (I’m a person hard to get blood or IV started) while rolling on a bumpy road during my panic attack! I called for the ambulance because my elderly mother was complaining of heart pain and shortness of breath. The woman paramedic named, Sam, asked me “Same illness different day?” And then she laughed. I don’t think that was very professional. She has no compassion. I guess she doesn’t like her job! She continued to be rude through out her time here. The other guy was also as bad. On the plus side, there was another young man taking care of my mom. He was very nice to us.
