I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. It is a fantastic education at a great price. If you are looking for a great community college, look no further than STCC. First and foremost, Norwalk Community College was the first two-year college known since 1960, and they have been serving and assisting students in achieving the school readiness you have always desired but if you have struggled at some point. NCC will assist you in overcoming your obstacles to the point where you feel smart, confident, and accomplished. This college is my top choice because it is affordable, not overcrowded, has a super clean and safe building, and has no historically known hate crime in the area, which is an A+ in today's environment. There is plenty of parking, as well as the best tutoring center, which is a lifeline for students who want to improve their grades or need assistance with the curriculum. It's a good starting school but extremely disorganized with idiots for employees. Dr Apple or apfel is a complete and total moron. She is so ungodly useless. On top of that, NCC is the most well-funded community college, the most prestigious, and has the highest share of incredible professors than any other community college in the region. But it won't motivate you to succeed. You have to do that yourself. And if you do not find that drive within yourself in time, do not blame the college for your shortcomings. A good school where you get out what you put in. Many trains stop within walking distance and buses as well. Just like any college, depending on your major, you will find good and bad professors. So always make use of the rate my professor website. I had a very pleasant experience. The administration was more competent than other schools I went to and my issues were always solved within a reasonable amount of time. The facilities I had to use for my major were in even better condition compared to some four year schools. The wifi coverage was good. Plenty of cafeterias with the best one being in the E building. Plenty of food trucks with different types of foods. Lots of seating areas with electrical ports. The class scheduling was workable with enough sections to fit almost everyone. Can't speak for any other major but it felt like that overall. They are always hiring new adjuncts so it's not the same professor teaching that one section you need all the time that everyone says is horrible. Always stay on top of your things if you want to have them resolved quickly. That's the part you play in your college years. The hand holding stops after High School. All I can say is, relax a little and have some fun. At the end of the day grades won't show the strength of your character after all is said and done.Mounia B

It seems like professors like the one I got Professor Arnold who acts likes she is going through the motions and don't there . i felt I waste my time and money which I paid out of pocket in her class and is thinking about leaving the college. She is one of the worst teachers/professors i ever had . I think cause it a community college a lot of them are mad cause they can't teach in a four year college through out of the community colleges in NY LaGuardia is the best . That being said she is the third professors that I had that sleeps walks through their class and I had another one that did something that weren't cool and I didn't show up for her class and never got an apology from her. Im currently in my last year at LaGuardia (majoring in business) and i have to say the Business department is full of AMAZING professors. Classes are really easy (most of them except accounting unless you're good at it) and the students are cool. I, personally, never talked to anyone or made any friends because I'm not an outgoing person. The school is constantly going under renovations and they just finished the new library and it looks AMAZING, as if it was a library from an ivy league. Food isn't that great but what do you expect, its school food [not free of course]. For people who are curious about the diversity of this school, these are my personal percentages of what i see; 20% – Asian 20% – African American 30% – Hispanic 30% – White/European Overall, its a good school to just do your 2 years in and get out.Paul The Pigeon

The ECSU campus renovations are certainly a highlight of the overall look and feel. It does not however, override the experience as a whole. Over college tuition becoming increasingly expensive, this college is relatively cheap. But this is not an excuse for being inefficient, as I have one goal coming here which is learning about what I want to do for a living. I shouldn't have to pay the extra time money and effort attending pointless extra classes that both wear down my savings, emotional and physical wellbeing. It's a joke and if this university made an effort to eliminate said classes, it would 100% reduce depression campus wide and reduce the overall cost and time associated with getting the exact same educational value when you're diving into real world jobs. By my very generous calculation a 4 year degree here is more than half made up of courses that have nothing to do with the degree and can therefore be considered barely a 2 year degree's worth of actual job experience. I do regularly ask myself what I could do in the span of 4 years learning by myself instead of wasting my time coming here. Consider this, every year as a student, K-graduate, you are granted 2 months of time where you can endulge into hobbies interests or self taught without the burden of school work and arbitrary responsibilities. What do you think you could do with 48 months of that same time. Even with a working job you are not held responsible for duties after hours, but for some reason it's normal to both pay to sit down and listen to jabber as well as get held accountable for duties off of class time. If ECSU wanted to be considered a good fit for someone who wants to fly high with wings untethered you would have to strip away 80% of the required courses for any said degree therefore limiting the friction requires to make it year after year. You'd see immediate improvements to student involvement and overall mood compared to what we have now. You are keeping us occupied for no reason, and I think that is a waste of my time and money.William Donnelly

I graduated 3 times from here. Hard to give it a 5 but hard to give it a 3 as well. Is 3.5 an option? I went with 4. This school had some great professors and classes. I can't complain there. It's on par with UConn and much cheaper. That being said, some professors are a little more political than I feel they should be. I can deal with that for the quality of education they have given me, as I had learned a lot here, but thought it was worth mentioning. As for the management, however, it's gotten better since leaving from when I first started, but they aren't always on top of communication. I remember having to be on top of my educational choices more than the school simply because you either couldn't find answers or they contradicted with answers. They could certainly communicate better but have come a long way since when I started there. As a student, I was happy to attend. As someone entering the working world, they did not assist me in doing this very well. Their post-graduate program to set you up for employment isn't spectacular. I got more jog seeking support from the university school I graduated from. I also applied for several jobs at ECSU and have been shot down from the start, even though I feel that I was qualified for them. All in all, I had a good experience as a student, but I do feel there is some inequity in the management, job opportunities, and hiring decisions they make. That being said, being affordable, and getting a good education without loans was the overall goal, and Eastern helped me to do that.Adam Phelps

This is a really good school if you’re all about your academics. I’ve had my good times and my bad times here at MCC. Overall on the academic side of MCC I appreciate all of the hard work that most of my professors have done. There are professors here that definitely need to be more qualified with what they are teaching as it has affected my grades when I’ve taken their courses. I am an Honor student here at MCC with a GPA of 3.30 and have never once had an issue with organization skills until my 2019 spring semester. A couple of the professors have been unorganized, no syllabus and sometimes they have other priorities when they have to teach a class in other words they put another professor in place when they have to go to another job. Although these were a couple of issues within my time here at MCC I enjoyed the experience of learning new knowledge for my future career. I really liked a lot of my professors but a couple of them have been a little rough. If you communicate with your professors about your issues that you’re having it really helps and shows that you’re determined to do your work and it shows you care about your work as well. Environment wise I’d have to say it’s not healthy (mentally/physically) and or good for many people. There have been students who have left garbage all over the place and don’t clean up after themselves which leads to maintenance having to clean it all up. With my time here I have helped maintenance clean up other people’s messes so they don’t have to worry about it as much. Also the amount of vaping, drug use, and underage drinking in the lounge is unacceptable and nothing has been done to take care of this issue except shutting the lounge down. I feel as if this does nothing but illustrates that they can go elsewhere within the college and do these things. An authority figure should really take this into consideration and do something about this because it affects others who have nothing to do with these people and it ruins people’s Health. You can smell weed from a mile away and if people have asthma or a health condition this could affect them physically. I do not appreciate this at all and I wish something was done about it. The other big issue environmentally is the fact that the main cafeteria can get very loud and some students have no manners and do not respect others around them. If they are asked to quiet down they do the opposite It has gotten to the point where a lot of people have complained and yet nothing is done to prevent this from happening again. The college needs to have some control over what students do and take action on these issues. I wish that there could be some changes here and I hope for the best for everyone at MCC. Overall it is a good school for your academics but is definitely not a mentally healthy place environmentally. Even if you try to get away and go somewhere else for privacy somehow drama follows behind you. A Tip would be after your classes go home if you can or go to the back of the library in the quiet study room. So I will start with sharing my positive highlights of the fall semester during covid. Some teachers were empathetic to the situation the entire nation went through. Prof. Muldoon did such an amazing job touching base and gaining clarity of students frustration and technical difficulties during this time. Prof Diane. Hillyer OMG if I were ever to be a college professor I’d want to have her passion and dedication. She’s a math angel, truly loves her job and her videos were perfect! Now chemistry online and labs online were a joke!!! The professor did not make enough office hours, used YouTube videos from other teachers, used repetitive templates for each week lesson with no data. If I wanted to learn chemistry that way I could’ve honestly gone on Edx.org for FREE and probably have learned the curriculum better. I might of missed 1 assignment and handed in 1 assignment 10 mins late and didn’t receive the grade or support needed. But unfortunately as a paying student I just have to deal with it, 2k down the drain! Funny thing I am also a teacher during covid and actually work in the building with student and never would I have ever made my students feel isolated like this professor did. I’ve never seen or heard my chemistry teachers voice but I’m pretty sure they got paid every two weeks while there’s probably many qualified teachers that could have done a way better job. I was warned about this professor but I learned the hard way. The school overall has a nice faculty and I feel like the majority do care. This is unfortunate when professor get so accustomed to a repetitive lifestyle because blackboard actually graded my exams so again not sure what some professor did during Covid behind the scene and so-called virtual teaching. This is a a good school to start or to get the credits needed for a post-Bach. I decided to go to a private school with a more dedicated team and more virtual teaching experience.Dignora Castillo

I was a potential international student and found Manchester Community College a great place to go. I called the first time and wasn’t able to talk to the responsible for international students but left my phone number and email. Umesh sent me an email saying he would give me a call. He did, two days later and was rude and impatient since the moment I picked up the phone and was acting like he was doing me a favor to call me. He said I should go back to my country and take my visa there instead of changing my status here, which is not up to him, was questioning how I was gonna become a student and more. I can’t even explain how rude and disrespectful he was to me who was just trying to make an appointment to go to the campus and get more informations in person about fees and the I20. I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. Although the distance from my family is too long I feel like I've found a new place that I can call home for the next 7 years. I do not regret my choice.Leonardo Castiglioni

As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. This place is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. I attended September 2009 – May 2018 (with a 3 year gap from 2012-2015). The hospitality teachers and department head were wonderful, and a lot of my general Ed teachers were amazing too and I have nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, the registrar office and academic advisors were a nightmare to deal with. No one ever smiles, my message NEVER got relayed to the right person, and it was such a headache to deal with offices equivalent to dealing with the DMV. They also claimed that when you graduate you can transfer your credits to a state college which is false. Some of the credits transferred, but classes like Math don’t transfer and I have to take a placement test to get into the same exact math class I took at Gateway and passed the class with an A. The bookstore staff was the most incapable, rude, useless group of people. Graduation was a completely unorganized joke – they told graduates to arrive 2 hours early to stand in a parking lot with no instruction and 1 porta potty for about 300 people. They also only announce 1 of your degrees – so if you have 3 degrees they won’t even take the extra 5 seconds to announce all 3 (I thought graduation was supposed to recognize your achievements?) I would have never wasted my time going to graduation if I knew how pathetic it would be. Parking on campus in New Haven was crazy and the lot constantly overflows into the Temple Street lot so you get to walk in stairways that smell like urine with bums roaming the lot and drunk people stumbling to their car after your class at 9:30 at night with no security guards to get to your car. Literally no security whatsoever like your completely on your own in a public lot in the heart of New Haven. Like most schools, they don’t allow weapons inside the building so you don’t even have a way to defend yourself if you get approached in the lot which will happen at some point. There were also hospitality classes that I had to buy things out of pocket and was promised reimbursement that never happened.Nina Tiso

I loved working with the children in the Early Learning Center, but the adults in the classroom didn't really treat me that well. They didn't really accommodating me that well when it came to tasks such as setting the table for breakfast,lunch, and snack. A coworker got nasty because I wasnt moving fast enough for her. I'm visually impaired and I have to take my time because of my vision. I had to complain about this coworker 2 times. Another thing that didnt make sense was I had to walk to the other side of campus to eat lunch for my 30 minute break. The teacher of the classroom would get mad at me for being late because I am a slow eater and I cant move fast again because of my bad vision. student teachers aren't allowed to eat in the teachers lounge. I shouldn't have had to complain to my boss about eating in the teacher lounge. This place needs to be more accommodating to student teachers with disabilities and staff needs to be more compassionate. I am very glad that I don't work at this place anymore! I was in their old building on Long wharf years ago, and seeing how they've grown and progressed into what I consider a university now, is life changing for the people attending this college. For a community college, they offer so much for the students with assistance as well as their educational endeavors. You would think that this school being a “community college” they are more understanding of financial situations and are more efficient with financial aid an other “programs” they offer. Not this school! Not only does every single person in the financial aid office treat you just like another person asking for handouts but depending on what staff you run into behind the desk you might not even get the correct information! I went to the financial aid office yesterday due to the fact that I found out when trying to register for classes for spring 2018 that I was on a financial “probation” these people gave me NO NOTICE NO CALL NO NOTHING but that’s the least of my worry at this point. I go to their office the girl behind the desk had told me due to me getting a D in my math class last semester of 2017 financial aid was skeptical about covering classes for this upcoming semester so I would have to appeal( good thing I came a week before registRtion was over ) I appeal the form then I get a notice in the mail saying I’ve been only approved for 1 class this semester up to 6 credits. I was a little bothered, but I took it, I go down to finally register once again! Then I was told I didn’t have enough for books an technically they were only covering up to 3 credits an my class is 4 so I owe the school clerk a balance of $23.00 and now I’m also expected to pay for my text book. 6 days before class starts … what happened to the notice they sent me that said they cover up to six credits???? literally because I struggled in my math class last semester an got a D I’m going through all this torture as someone who is barely able to pay my own freaking bills at 20 an living by myself just trying to get my own education, every Semester it’s something else with this school the office people SUCK they are there for a job an that’s it. Then When you ask to speak to someone in charge of financial aide they torture you with hold for atleast a good 20 minutes on the phone ( probably praying for you to hang up) unless your willing to take 2 and three trips down to the office which is no problem probably for someone who doesn’t works full time.so now that the semester is getting ready to start an they feel like they did their part by covering the “majority” of my class (3 out of 4 credits, which my paper says they should cover up to 6 credits at least but whatever) I’m now expected to fend for myself an purchase a $200 text book within the next six days. Boy I can’t wait to be successful in my near future an to look back on the mistreatment an lack of support from this school an tell it to others as a learning experience an as a recommendation to never attend here just because of the thought of it being “cheaper” or “local” because u get what u paid for an these people’s attitude is just as cheap as the tuition they offer for a class an they lack what REAL schools have an that’s staff that cares about their students and the well being of others. An to make sure they give right answers these schools double triple quadruple check their work! If you attend TRCC as a freshman with no idea what your doing I suggest looking for support else where because this is not the school, they throw you in an don’t give a damn, not informative or helpful what so ever an definetly misleading . Professors and fellow students are great but the administration and admissions process is a night mare. Little to no help to navigate threw the process. No one is willing to answer question. They always refer you to another person. Example: Me: Can you please tell me how I can access the wifi here? Advisor: You will have to contact a student advisor for that. Me: :/ Avoid online courses here. Professor did not make access easy. Not clear as to what material is needed. If professor isn't able to help you navigate course or they themselves aren't sure of what to do you will still be responsible for payment. Only time in my life I hired a professional service and they were unable to preform paid for task and I was still responsible for payment. And of course there is no one available to talk to about this and if there is no one knows who it is to refer you. If you do decide to take courses here try to make friends with other students that have already been threw the admissions/ administration nightmare. Don't take online. 1: I registered for a class and dropped it a before week prior to it starting, boy was I in for a surprise bill. $120 for a class I didn’t even step foot in, let alone it didn’t even start when I dropped it. What a SCAM. Of course I had no choice but to pay it. So just be cautious when you’re registering for a class, because you cannot change you’re mind and not expect to pay a fee even if the class hasn’t begun. 2: If you’re “graduating” be sure to wait months for your actual diploma to be delivered. Very unorganized system they have going there. I graduated in may and have yet to receive any proof of it. My transcript is still not updated with my current degree and my diploma is who knows where. Sucks. 3. If you’re receiving financial aid and you’re registered for a class and the school decides they want to cancel it, be prepared to repay financial aid back.S G

Excellent experience every time! This is my second time re-certifying with Code One and it's always a very smooth experience. The online portion is great, and most of all the instructors are very knowledgeable. I had Dr. Santina as my skills instructor this time around for both BLS and ACLS. She was very articulate, encouraging, and knowledgeable about everything she was teaching me, and even taught me something I didn't know about the cons of using atropine for bradycardia! The setup is very convenient and it’s done well especially with COVID precautions. The process of certification was very straight forward with the practice dummies and the virtual call. I had Jonathan as the person certifying me, and he was fantastic! He answered any questions that came up and gave good advice for real-world scenarios. Writing this for anyone considering this school. I highly suggest that you choose this one. The instructors are amazing, theyre classes are up to date with the latest tech and they are extremely responsive and professional. Debra was my instructor and she was amazing. Very patient with me and helpful. Also, I have to mention Christine who works up front. You'll probably meet her if you need to turn in anything or pick anything up. She knows her stuff. I had to fly out to Vegas to get my national registry paramedic practicals done. this place exceeded my expectations not only with the service they provided but how welcoming they where to someone from out of town. I paid to do the prep exam the day before so I could become familiar with the sites stuff and it was such a great help. it put my mind at ease for the following day. on exam day everything ran very smooth, very professional. we knew by the end of we had to retest and retest where offered that day. I would recommend to anyone needing to not only take a class but for any of your registry practical needs to come here they will not disappoint.Alex Coughlin

Mr.miles was a stellar teacher. Not only his versatile teaching style was very helpful in my learning the way he would work with students with language barriers was phenomenal. Not only he would teach you what you need to know he would also learn things from him you can apply to your only life too. You would walk in his class not knowing anything then leave his class feeling like you can take on the world. Highly disappointed on the Kids care. For some one who has never done their care, and tried it- I will never again. I also haven't been contacted after directly messaging them about this horrible experience. I walked in not knowing how the process was, no one greeted. A guy and a woman were there staring at me and I let them know my child is 10 months and wanted to try them out. All they asked was to sign in and I guess I was supposed to know what to do next. Anyways, they told me I can leave my son in the play area. Once trying to figure out what the right place would be, I was informed Their was an infant area. Let me tell you, it was a total mess in there. No where to leave my son or even walk in. I sat him in a corner, hoping the staff would engage and no one did. However, I let the staff there know , if my son cries a lot- come and grab me so I can get him. I get a call after my class was finished, and I immediately went to the kids area. I was approached by the staff that my son had an “accident”. I panicked, my child's face was so red and agitated when I saw him. The “accident” was that he pooped. Anyways, when asking the staff if he was crying I got “he was crying an awful lot” not sure how trained their staffing is with infants, i would never trust them again. I understand they don’t diaper change etc, but when reading their policies letting your child cry for a bit is uncomfortable enough- leaving my baby crying for about 50 minutes is ridiculous. Would not recommend leaving infants there at all.Eileen

I’ve been an Edge member for years; Fairfield and Norwalk locations are fantastic. Trumbull, however, leaves a lot to be desired. Cardio equipment is often non working, there are generally about three to four people at the front desk who rarely say hello or goodbye yet don’t seem to be doing anything else; the only people I see working routinely here-and who are always friendly-are the cleaners. They deserve raises! Rates also went up recently but they now prohibit access to a previously available studio-and I was just “reprimanded” (zero professionalism, no “I’m sorry but…”) for walking into a yoga class which had been over for 15 minutes (supposed to end at 11.20, and while the class was no longer in session, there were several people still stretching in the studio). I walked in quietly, respectfully, and put my mat well out of the way of anyone else. When I questioned the employee why I couldn’t come in after a class was over by 15 minutes, he simply stated again “you can’t enter the studio whenever there’s a class, even if it’s running over.” Meanwhile, the one common area for free weights was packed. This gym is often way overcrowded, it’s difficult to find a parking spot unless you’re here at odd hours, service (again, except for the cleaners) is lackluster at best, and after this interaction, we’ll no longer be back to this location. Definitely recommend checking out Norwalk or Fairfield over this Trumbull Edge.Annikki Nurmi

I have been a member of the Trumbull club for 5 months and I absolutely love it! I have belonged to other fitness clubs and there is absolutely no comparison! My first impression of the Trumbull club was how clean and well kept it was. My wife insisted that I get a trainer and to be honest I thought that would be a waste of my time and money. I hate to admit it but I was dead wrong. My personal trainer SayQuon is extremely motivating and goes out of his way to assist me even when I am not his client! The staff consisting of Connor, Chris, Tyler and Jack make me feel more like a friend then a client. They too will stop whatever they are doing to snswer and explain any questions I have about the equipment. I actually look forward to coming to the club to see the staff! What I really find fascinating is the clientele at the Trumbull Club. The members are friendly, complimentary and motivating. I have never been at a club this friendly!Anthony Penque

Mediocre staff, but the course was exhausting and very boring. When you start the program you get to meet the owner for the first day, and pretty much after that he is gone or in his office for an hour or two. That will most likely be the only time you'll ever see him. The instructor was also dull, with a slight dark humor. Sitting in one place for 8 hours long hearing someone talk with a monotone voice and with no fun explanations or examples was not gratifying. During the program two fellow classmates dropped the course. I am not sure for what exact reasons but that must mean something. Overall wasn't the best experience and I felt unprepared for the final test. Near the end of the course you'll have to take the computerized test amongst completing six medical stations which include your medical assessment, trauma assessment, airway, cardiac arrest management, and etc you get the point. After successful completion you'll have to do the six stations again with state officials. After that you'll have to take the NREMT exam which is a national exam. This test is much harder then the first. I feel that this program did not prepare me very well for these tests. Considering you have to pay $1500 including the book and your stethoscope. Maybe there is a better place for your EMT endeavors. In other words maybe because being an EMT wasn't for me.Daniel

I decided to take the 4 week online, on-demand course because it was the only fast paced online course near me. I found the instructors and staff to be knowledgeable and personable. They were also flexible. I live 100 miles away from the school and they were able to work with me to make clinical time and ride along time work. I think this type of course works well if you have the time to dedicate to the coursework. I was able to pass the national registry written exam with very little trouble. I would recommend this course to anyone who is interested in a rapid sequence course and has the time to dedicate to completing the course.John Paul Horn

Awesome experience. Top notch. I completed the 4 week online EMT course right in the midst of the pandemic – ALL of the staff were wonderful and I always felt safe during in-person skills classes. They truly teach the material for you to learn it instead of just regurgitate it at test time. (That being said, they’re also great at teaching you EXACTLY what you need to do to be successful in the state practical). I drove an hour each way for each of my in-person skills classes and would do it again in a heartbeat! I can’t say enough great things about Andy and his entire team.Will Wintermute

This institute has flexible class times to work with almost anyone’s schedule. It also has an amazing staff and instructors who seek to ensure you completely understand both the curriculum and lab skills. I took the phlebotomy program, and I have zero complaints. Monica is amazing; She labors closely with you, so you have a solid comprehension of the steps, techniques and procedures to execute a successful venipuncture for each patient. You have plenty of hands-on time as well in the lab with your classmates and volunteers, which will give you the competency necessary to work in a medical setting. By far the worst school I have ever gone to. They train you enough to pass the national registry but not enough to ever find a job in the different fields. The EMT instructor is sexist and rude, doesn’t help students learn, and isn’t understanding to the needs of students. The director is sarcastic and the company in general is only in it for the money. Not a single person that I know who has taken phlebotomy or EKG has ever found a job due to requirements in the area. When asked for more training they ignore you and tell you that you need to pay even more money for the extra training.Chris Attakk

The phlebotomy program through American Professional Educational Services was phenomenal. The classroom information was presented professionally and accurately without any gaps in content. The instructor was incredibly knowledgeable and relatable. Ample lab time was provided for maximum hands-on skills learning. I was more than prepared for the national exam and was able to secure a job in the phlebotomy field without a delay. I highly recommend APES programs and certification classes.Debra Gosselin

I went to Housatonic right out of high school. From fall 2012 to winter 2015, I attended. The professors were professional and helpful. I could email or call or see them during their office hours if I needed to speak (I prefer in person). All the professors I had were passionate and knowledgeable. I transferred from the science program to the fine arts program. The school and my advisor were helpful in this transition. (Personally, every process/interaction was quick and easy) It was a great choice for me. I found the fine arts department to be a great group of people. Very dedicated and all successful in their fields. They didn't just become teachers, they had/have careers and are extremely talented. A little quirky, but what artist isn't? They really helped me improve my art and gave me advice on selling my art. Aside from the actual classes, my favorite part was the fantastic cafeteria. Honestly, I still go back! I still wander around downtown sometimes – that's where HCC is. Its not idyllic but its not as tough as the streets of Manhattan. There's a few oddballs but in 2 years of night courses I never felt unsafe. There's good restaurants and a few shops, concerts in the summer. I graduated and transferred to an art college, almost all of my credits transferred. I'm at a smaller college now, to get my BA, and I miss the convenience of being in a downtown area, near a park and print shop, and really miss the cafe !Christine Jones

This place is the worst. I had the worst experience with an advisor who tried to advise me in the lobby of the building. She basically asked me why I was there…. Then tried to advise me to go to every other department so she would have to do the bare minimum??? Security guards at every door, not kind ones either they definitely don't make it a warm and friendly campus. Seems like they're trying to protect themselves from more that just Covid. The financial aid office is a mess, and the enrollment process was ugh…. They basically didn't know how to add my Transcript credit aside from them sort of losing my Transcripts which the head guy admitted, and looked at me asking if I had any unofficial ones on me…?. The 3 stars are for their professors, they were lovely. The school is trash though go to NCC instead especially if you value professionalism and can do advisement.E J

Housatonic community college Is one of the Best Colleges I have attended. Academically, and socially, this college is well rounded. HCC has Great teachers, that honestly want to see their students succeed.i can only tell you this because this was me, a student who was extremely stressed about the material and course work. Enrolling into HCC from a pervious college, I did not have the funds for school. when I applied for a HCC scholarship I was more than fortunate To have Received grant.YES from School. I have totally made the correct choice to attend HCC. I was nervous at first, but it’s the realization Of coming out of your comfort zone, to achieve your goals and aspirations. I am truly blessed and more than thankful to attend Housatonic community college. I absolutely love this college and everything it has done for me, as well as for our community. They do so much outreach into the community and involve everyone in so many wonderful events. They work so hard to ensure everyone who attends graduates without college debt. I studied here for 5 or 6 years part-time to earn my Associate's Degree, and I really enjoyed my entire experience. The professors were mostly professionals from the community (at least for the night classes I usually took), and they had such a down-to-earth way of connecting what you were learning to what goes on in the real world. The staff was great at providing the information I needed and were always available to help me navigate what needed to be done to keep on course. After graduating, the alumni team has been awesome in keeping me connected, and the alumni relations team and directors have been so passionate and wonderful. Anyone who knows Monique knows she is one of the most passionate people you will ever meet, and now Sarah also brings in her own energy and enthusiasm. Really wonderful people and a true asset to our community. The college also supports our local community and businesses. I own The Sunshine Shop right up the road with my wife, and QVCC always shops local and often with us when sourcing flowers or plants for their events, keeping the dollars in the community and supporting local businesses, families, and – in this case – a QVCC alum. We're so lucky to have this college as a resource in our community, to help our neighbors earn degrees or certificates that will go so far to better their lives and strengthen community. And what a wonderful bonus that the college is comprised of so many incredible and passionate people who really go above and beyond to make sure the college is connected and engaging their community in such meaningful ways. For years I have been recommending QVCC to so many people, and will continue to do so. I don’t regret going here because I did learn some things. I had an amazing English teacher, professor Lisa Adase. Other than her, the school doesn’t care about you. If you’re struggling and have a disability, it is up to YOU to take care of things. I switched to a trade school and the new school is so helpful. They’re the ones who watch out for you and show encouragement. The teachers and staff are there every step of the way. They’re happy with their jobs unlike QVCC staff. The learning management system is terrible. Each teacher sets up their course differently which is confusing and unorganized. My new school has Canvas which is a lifesaver because every course is outlined the same way. Makes it so much easier to know what’s due and when. Consistency is important. I am now getting A’s and B’s which makes me happy to realize that it wasn’t me that was the problem , it was QVCC. All I needed was caring staff and organization.Datona DePizzol

Current 2017 student. Okay school, website is horrible. Nice main campus (Danielson) but it's not good enough to be successful. They don't specify their hours and the Willimantic campus is just a boring building in Main St, it doesn't have much to do. The Danielson campus sign is hard to see, so it's easy to miss when driving. Food is really good, not a lot of activitie, most professors are very good but everything about this school could use a lot of improvement.Alejandra Perez-Handler

I wish people wouldn't leave reviews about their ambulance experience on the SCHOOL'S PAGE. The school does not control the ambulance division. That's a completely different department. The Grady EMS academy is outstanding and if you know what's good for you then you would go here. The instructors are experienced Paramedics and the hands on experience is like no other. Enjoy the facility. I suggest that the State of Conn move the entire college to the old Enrico Fermi High School, and leave the entire Manufacturing program at its present location. You can make ACC the premier destination for manufacturing training in North Central Connecticut, and South Central Mass.. Partner up with UTC Raytheon, Ham Standard and all of the major / minor manufacturing companies in the Greater Hartford and Springfield area. They could provide grant in aid, job placement, work release programs, internships, classes from 8 am to 10 pm and weekend accelerated programs. Instructors would be retired or semi retired manufacture personell who have had training experience. Offer a sign on bonus up graduation, reimbursement of tuition and job placement assistance for the next three years. Become the number #1 destination in New England for manufacturing training.Dale Menard

This institution does not believe in the free speech and had one of their own students suspended for politely asking a question of an elected official who came to the university. Then they apparently refused to review his video, which clearly shows that he did not do what he was accused of. The is unforgivable, this school is corrupt.J K
