20 Best Emt Programs In Akron, OH (2022 Updated)

Both my wife and I were returning college students and Stark State Alumni class of 2012. We both received a great education. She went for respiratory therapy and I went for Graphic Design. The graphic design program was wonderful. The professors were all very knowledgeable and really cared about their students (huge shout outs to Michelle Lash and Eugene Starr). The classes are small and it's very easy to schedule time with the professors if you need help or need to go over some things. It's also nice to have online classes if that's your thing. For the younger students (and older alike), Stark State also hooks you up with SALT at no charge after graduation, which is a useful tool to help find employement after graduation. Luckily I furthered my career without having to use SALT. The biggest recommendation I could suggest would be to offer more of certain classes. Sometimes only one class is offered a semester and can conflict with working hours. Thank you, Stark State and to all of my professors for giving me a great education and giving me a fighting chance in the workforce after graduation. For those who are seeking four year degrees and beyond, Stark State is definitely a great (and affordable) place to start.stephen slusny

I attended Stark State College a number of years ago when it was Stark Technical College. I am surprised by the negative reviews, because I had a great experience at the school. I graduate with a degree in Computer Technology, and the courses were challenging and taught me a lot. I still remember some of the great instructors like Mrs. McBride in my math classes. I even worked there part-time for about a year doing LAN Administration. They have provided me with a foundation for a very successful career in IT. I later completed my Bachelor degree at Kent State. I am currently completing my MBA. I was able to get a copy of my transcripts, even after graduating 25 years ago, by faxing in a request. I did this for two different Universities, and they arrived within a week. In this age there should be a way to do it electronically like Kent State, but at least they do not charge you for them. Overall I had an excellent experience and they prepared me for a very rewarding career in Computer Technology. I absolutely have no regrets about this school, and I enjoyed my time there.Kevin Frazier

I can not believe Stark State has less than 4 stars! This is my second semester and I LOVE it! The faculty are truly amazing and extremely helpful! This college also offers small class room sizes which makes learning more personal. Your teachers and professors always do their best to know each student by name. It is also extremely great for working folks who have busy work loads. They have many courses that can virtually work with any type of schedule. There are many success programs that Stark State offers, including assistance with any subject as well as a great Accommodations program for those with any learning disability/disability from minor to severe. Stark State also always keeps their students in the know through text message and emails. They give you the tools you need in order to succeed. Highly recommend this college!elisabeth brian

Not a fan of this place but sadly do not have many options in my area staff say they are always there yet when you need them seem to be nowhere to be seen I called numerous times and non stop to a woman named Kim Ford she would never answer an I couldn't get a hold of anyone she was very rude an when I tried to drop the class felt like she was bullying me an teasing me for the reason she took a private matter an made it into a joke as I read her notes she sent to the other staff who work there. I felt embarrassed and violated that she would turn a private matter into a joke…and I also thought it was very convenient for her to finally answer her phone after the time was up that I would be charged for dropping the class…she is very uptight snarky and has a giant ego. Dealing with the staff here is difficult sometimes. I was supposed to start this past fall semester, and was told for three months via email that I was ready to go and that all I need to do was come down and register for my classes. I ended up waiting until the last day (which is my part of the fault in this, I should've gone sooneer) to go down to register for my classes. I sit and wait for two and a half hours, which I understand, they were busy. Then I get back to the advisor and she tells me there is a $20 transcript review fee that I haven't paid, and that because the registrar left a half hour ago while I was in the waiting room, I now could either pay my tuition out of pocket, or not go, even though I had the $20 for the fee in my hand. Professors and Assistant professors always want you to succeed. The financial aid office will do whatever they can to help you when you ask. There is always something fun happening on campus. The best part are stress dogs during finals week!! It is a great place to take classes to transfer to other colleges.Stephany Lundy

If I had another option I would never go to this university. They preach all of these wonderful things but when it comes down to action, they show none of it. Their system that is supposed to help students get their classes organized and keep them on the right track works, but only if you need absolutely no help. I was a second away from getting a lawyer before I actually recieved any kind of direction or assistance. Come to find that there are other people I know that have similar stories of having been given no help and shrugged off or just tossed an answer that is not helpful at all. Had my father not gone to the Dean my degree would have been stunted. It would have taken another 1-2 years to complete with the advice given to me by a secretary that refused to tell me anyone I could go to for assistance. She rather throw my EXCUSED medical absence (which I have only ever had one, and it was to have my daughter) in my face as a reason to show my incompetence and that my lack of help was MY fault. Had it not been for my parents support I probably would have dropped out due to the neglect and disrespect that I have been give from the people at this university. Not to mention they put someone in charge of a girls sports team who had been previously charged at their university with sexual assault. I have so many more examples from others around me that have had similar issues and have been ignored or bounced around from person to person when asking for academic advice or help.Tessa M

Love YSU. While this college has a lot to offer and is exceptionally friendly to ppl with disabilities I wish the department I am studying at was bigger. We only have 3 professors and unfortunately one of them is so ineffective I had to repeat every one of his classes. I learned more from my tutors in his classes than from the professor himself. Head professor is cool and extremely helpful. Also the equipment we use other than the computers are horribly out of date, built and used since the 60s and 70s. Unfortunately due to life circumstances I have to move out of state. Hopefully the next school will be just as rich as YSU and has a bigger department with up to date technology.Imperfect Xennial

YSU is such a quiet and peaceful place to go to school at. Sometimes I liked to just sit on the grass under a tree and listen to the birds and the wind as life just passed me by. The buildings are a complex maze of twists and turns that will leave your head feeling like you just entered the twilight zone, and while some students are rather rude the majority of them are extremely kind hearted. I personally feel that the school could use with a better organization system, slightly more thought out staff and faculty, but other than that it is a very amazing place to learn.Reynard Louernia

Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! A majority of the positive reviews on this site are biased and are from the staff. Please, heed the warnings that you see here. Some of these positive comments come as a result of the staff coercing someone to post a positive review. Please, do not believe the positive reviews – for the sake of your wallet and academic progress. Coming to this college was nothing but a huge waste of time and money. By far the worst college ON THE PLANET. Please, go anywhere else but here. A lot of the credits do not transfer, the staff is rude and doesn't care about you, and a professor at Sinclair told me that they consider these classes to be sub-standard. Don't waste your time or money. The only thing they care about is your money. I understand that you may want to attend a community college because it's cheaper, but do keep in mind that you only get what you pay for and at clark state that isn't much! Low tuition fees = low quality institution. The professors are not here because they want to ensure the success of their students. They're here to collect a paycheck and enhance the appearance of their resumes.John S

It is so incredibly difficult and annoying trying to contact ANYONE at Clark State. Trying to speak with anyone at all via phone during normal business hours during the day on a normal weekday is just a string of voicemail after voicemail and no one ever calls back. The only way to accomplish anything, even having a simple question answered, is to physically go to the school and deal with someone directly. And even then, probably 90% of the staff are not helpful and talk to you like you are incompetent. I am finally finishing up my 2 years at Clark State in order to get the classes that I need to transfer into a 4 year school. It has been a constant battle to get anything done at this school. The teaching staff HAS been very helpful, but the staff that work in the offices (testing center, records & registration, cashier's office) are so condescending it is unbelievable. After spending thousands of dollars every semester to attend classes here, you would think the staff would be just only SLIGHTLY more respectful.Alisha Scott

My daughter has been trying to reach out to Clark to attend this Fall and NOBODY has returned her messages or calls. So I decided to check into the ratings on this community college. After reading some of the reviews with low ratings I’m understanding why Clark will not return my daughters calls or messages. I’m willing to try one more time in the hopes of getting an explanation. However, if I cannot get a hold of anyone, then I will take it that this is my sign that Clark is obviously NOT the college for my daughter. I would rather look for another college for her to attend with a much better education. if Clark cannot get their stuff together to return messages and called to students that are wanting to attend a hen how can they have their stuff together to teach students. Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

I love Columbus State and this is why: Before Columbus State: Growing up, I was never interested in the information taught in school, because I did not feel like it was applicable to the real world. After a year at a private college, I was originally apprehensive to restart college at any college. I was also scared of a community college. I grew up in Michigan, and I felt like our local community colleges had negative stigmas attached to them. Luckily, my older brother took me into the application office in Delaware, OH to take the entrance exam. I believe I tested out of an english and/or a math class. While at Columbus State: I would like to note that I always attended C-State as I held a part time job (10-20 hours a week). I originally attended an EMT-B class at Columbus State. The class was more challenging than I had anticipated and was pretty time consuming. I received a B in this course, but found employment immediately in the field and felt confident in my skills. A year later, I returned to C-State with the desires to go to nursing school. Thanks to ample meetings with advisors in Health and Human Services, I decided to take some prerequisite nursing classes as there was a waiting list to apply for their nursing program (while I worked part time as an EMT-B). During this year, I found more confidence in my work and studies, feelings of support and encouragement from staff, and rewards from hard work. I was also able to sign up easily for academic accommodations for the first time in my life! I loved my time at Columbus State within this year! I never thought I would love school or receive my first 4.0 GPA in the spring and summer semesters. For the first time, school finally felt fulfilling for me. After Attending Columbus State: I decided to leave C-State after a full academic year, and I pursued a BSN degree through another local school. I often look back at my time at C-State and regret that I did not take more classes here while saving a decent amount of money! I would suggest night classes if you are willing and able. I found that students were more likely to be hard working, more mature, disciplined, and also employed. I also found professors who taught night classes were often from OSU and more understanding. Generally my teachers were all very competent, funny, and held experience in the world. The only negative experience that I found was dealing with C-Stat's Police department staff and accessing their gym/locker room. Students must sign up manually for the gym locker rooms every semester at C-State's Police department and then wait for several days for your card to be accepted from security/police. This system seems dated and non-productive. I feel like this process should be easily automated. This issue led to a negative experience I had with a police officer that identified as Sergeant Diamond. I felt like this officer escalated my personal situation while being disrespectful and patronizing. Another time I was eating a meal in my car between classes when a police car pulled up to me and asked why I was parked between two spots in an empty parking lot and then asked me to pick a spot. I'm sure the police department deals with things they don't want to. I could have been lucky and experienced two poor attitudes on hard days, but I do not feel like the police department is fulfilling their mission that states they want to provide "exceptional customer service" for their students based on my only two experiences with them. I would take a look at how the police staff is trained at C-State.Connor Hill

I have enjoyed Columbus State and majority of the people I’ve met here while on track to my BA but this college needs some serious restructuring. The biggest thing I wish Cstate would look into is their faculty. When I go to ratemyprofessor.com and see many of them at a 1 to 2 star rating, that concerns me. I have personally had good and bad professors here and majority of the good ones were adjunct professors, the bad ended up being tenured faculty. I wish the college would look into the gripes students have and start to question whether or not they should be hiring adjunct professors to replace them. The only other major issue I’ve had is from advisors. The point of the advisor is to advise the student on their education path, but when I have a genuine question or concern, interrupting/having a snarky attitude doesn’t come off as professional to me. One last thing, please talk with the finance department about putting a budget together for another parking garage. I don’t go during peak hours anymore but when I did parking was atrocious. It will be 6 weeks this semester (Spring 2019) before CSCC releases financial aid refunds. I cannot believe they get away with this! OSU is 9 days after the start of the semester! Some people rely on these excess funds to survive another semester of school! This should be illegal and I’m pretty sure it is because according to federal financial aid funds are to be released up to a max of 14 days after the start of a semester! Insane to make people wait 6 weeks+ to receive their refund. Also, parking is obnoxious here any time of day. It also seems to me that each department does not have a good linear structure of teaching so each professor is just kind of doing their own thing whichever way they feel like doing it. Some classes are too long some are too short. It really feels like no one is in control here it’s just a free for all I guess. Employees are not friendly in any way shape or form. The registered nursing program is a joke. Very disappointed I wasted my time and money going there. It’s pretty bad when the students know more than the “professors”. The people running the program were unprofessional and lazy to say the least. Paid for a certain amount of credit hours and they only had class half of the times we were scheduled. Lessons were taught per self by reading hundreds of pages per night because the professors were unsure what they were teaching. During class time professors had crying babies and barking dogs along with many more distractions. Spoke higher up and the dean was absolutely useless, wouldn’t take any responsibility for the low class education. The program does not equip students to become skilled nurses. If you have standards for your education I recommend going elsewhere.Abby Hileman

I would never go back to this school. I was very disappointed in the teachers in medical program but also try to reach out to the dean and she was not very understanding and rude. So many of the students in our class try to reach out to the teachers about not understanding the material they were teaching so we had to self teach ourselves .It seems like all the school wanted was money and not care at all about the students education. It's pretty bad when you have more than 12 plus students complaining and them not wanting to do anything. This place is mostly money hungry ,and it's very disappointing . Worst College Ever. Tried taking summer classes here and it was unbelievable the amount of trouble I went through. No organization what so ever. My advisor scheduled me the wrong classes for the summer so I tried setting up an interview with her twice to have her change what classes I need to take and she was a no show both times. Then I finally got the right classes registered a week before the semester starts. Then they tell me that I was suppose to pay for the classes the week before that even though they didn’t have the right classes. For online classes they cost more than in person lecture classes at AU. Would not recommend this “place” to anyoneTyler Croskey

Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

I’ve only had on great instructor, Stephen Marlowe, but the worst instructor there is Amanda Bylczynski by far! She is extremely rude and is unwilling to help. She refuses to admit when she is wrong and tends to give multiple directions to assignments that contradict each other and gives you a poor grade when you don’t follow the “correct” set of directions. It’s hard to stay away from her though since she teaches history, geography, sociology, and is an advisor. Since she is an advisor she tries to push you to take her favorite classes that she teaches rather than put you in classes that will benefit your degree! I am majoring in education and she put me in her history class (her favorite) instead of letting me take sociology which would have clearly fit my path much better! Don’t waste your time at this school. They treat everyone like a high school student whether you are or not. If you are looking for a community college to start your college career go to Sinclair! This is the worst school in the country, the staff is over paid the classes are the equivalent to a junior high school. I had applied there for art classes and did online classes and I had completed all my work correctly and did the assignments on time and with the correct format. Stayed up for hours on end completing assignments putting a lot of hard work into them and still got bad grades for some odd reason? So I email my teachers and call the school asking what I can do to improve them the phone tree did not work properly and my teachers never emailed me back. First off the professors are great, they help you and answer all questions. In the 5 years I have attended, there are only a few that were mediocre, but they are gone now. Advisors are helpful, but you will need to make sure they know what you want. As an older student the school is affordable and most classes are available in the evening. Down fall is several classes like Calculus, pre calculus, music, and other lab classes have limited availability in the evenings and in some cases not at all. They now offer scholarships for older students who do not qualify for other financial aid. No out of county fees unlike some schools.Jen ny

This college has frequent issues with their website when turning in or doing assignments. Return books to bookstore that you rent, and they "misplace" some, and charge YOU for it. No one fixes it…. Hard to get in touch with everyone. No way to work on a time frame with this college with issues with websites, and no way to get in contact with ANYONE you need to regarding logging in, assignments, registering, financial aid etc. etc. Last time i signed up everything took so long classes had already started for a whole week while i was still trying to get set up for each class. The FIRST day i was on the class page to try to catch up the teacher gave me a 0 on my first several assignments… EVEN THOUGH… I stayed up late the day I registered and got my books and tried to work toward catching up… I want to go back to college, but I don't think this is the one to be in…Amanda Arnett

The bookstore is horrible. The employees, not the student employees, were terribly rude. They did not give me all the textbooks I ordered online and it took 3 people and yelling for them to finally understand that they did not give me the access code. I even brought back the receipt and my actual order confirmation. They lied and argued with me about my order being fulfilled and held for me. Removed with no explanation other than receiving more loan money than they were supposed to give, an error on the University's part, not to mention if your opinion differs of that from other students and they become hostile the HR will do nothing for you as a student, class times are not flexible and they have put a hold on my transfer credits without explanation. In other words the communication from this university is terrible and would highly suggest against going if you have other options because anywhere that will not drop you in a moment's notice is better than this university.Ben Y

First off, the campus itself is in poor condition. The sidwalks are cracked, and the stairs are worn and a tripping hazard. If you are physically disabled, be warned, there is hardly no disabled access aroud campus. The elevators are used by those who are athletic and can walk perfectly fine, but crowd out those in wheelchairs…. There are professors who are either unfair in grading or don't know what they're doing.Atypical Scholar

Didn't have a safe campus I got followed home by men so did other girls. I wanted to leave after the first semester because my grandmother was dying and they said it wasn't a good enough reason for me to leave and not finish the year and made me pay for a semester I didn't take. Lots of drugs here, two people got shot on the street behind are dorms. It is not safe to live here.miranda bond

Great place to get a technical degree, certificate, or diploma. Education geared towards getting the student into the workforce with the skills they need to succeed in an efficient way. Credits also transfer to the UWEC. Partnering with local businesses to make sure the education meets the needs of the employers in the field.Eric Freberg

I enrolled in the Adult Cosmetology two year program here and from the start my experience was mediocre. During my time there I had teachers come and go, I had 3 teachers through out the program. The first 'instructor' for the first year was more interested in being your friend then a teacher. Talked poorly about other students when they were not around and was more interested in getting her own hair colored the majority of the time instead of teaching. She favorited students and had a lack of caring. Our second instructor was there for a couple months and I had sadly learned more from her in those few months then I had with my first instructor. Our third instructor was the best by far, if only we had had her from the beginning. Now the school itself is shady. A few students and myself were prepared to graduate in July until the head of the Adult Education program came to us and said we had to be done with the program by June, 4 weeks prior. If we did not finish that was on us. I would not recommend this school to ANYONE. Find a better school that will provide you with the best education possible and is worth your money.Marissa Walczak

I was in the cosmetology program graduate in 2019 and I’ve been recommending Polaris to everyone! Best schooling I’ve ever done. my instructor ms.hasan was the best teacher I’ve ever had,she really cared about her students and making sure everyone got everything and made sure you brought the best out of you. She a very caring and loving person and I would not be the stylist/person I am if it wasn’t for her. Every program here is amazing and sets you up for success. BEST experience EVER!!!! Polaris has the BEST staff from the certification programs instructors to the aspire an office staff. These people really care about you an they will go to the moon to help you. I wish they had more programs cause i will go back. I will advise you if your looking for career or career change an your interested in one of Polaris programs GO FOR IT!!!! You will not regret it!!! I love this school so much ill be sending my daughter to Polaris for high school an for her to take one of their programs an im thinking ahead cause my daughter only in 6 grade. I had a total hip replacement surgery this past June. It pains me to read the bad reviews about C.C. as the doctors there literally " gave me my life back". I am very healthy otherwise but had very advanced osteoarthritis in my right hip. I was not able to walk without a cane and was in 24/7 pain for over a year. Dr. Nicholas Piuzzi in the orthopedic department was amazing as well as his staff. I was discharged 25 hours after surgery. I live in Erie, and the hospital set up my home OT & PT. My recovery has been much quicker than most over 65 and I attribute most of it to the surgical procedure. (minimally invasive robotic assisted) and the high skill of the doctor. I don't know about any other departments, but I was impressed with the skill and compassion and attention of all the departments. Did I come across someone having a bad day, sure, but I don't feel that's a fair assessment of the overall facility and staff . You are also sent multiple surveys to report rude or dismissive people. Overall I highly recommend Cleveland Clinic. My husband has an appointment in another department soon and I expect we will receive the same exceptional quality of care I received. My whole family in Erie goes to the Cleveland Clinic.Louise Zimmer

This is one the best medical facilities in the world. My parents loved the Clinic and I have doctored there for about 60 years. My wife is currently doctoring there. You are treated well by everyone there. If an employee perceives that you may be lost in this huge institution an employee including the doctors themselves will direct you or guide you to your destination with a smile. They have their own sworn police department so you feel safe anytime you visit their campus. Lots of gorgeous outdoor spaces and huge hallways inside so it feels like a mall with shops, restaurants and other facilities. Very efficient scheduling. In one 7 hour day my wife had three diagnostic tests and saw four doctors. Check out the menu if you are a patient. Not your ordinary hospital food. How about that tunnel leading from the parking garage to the Miller building.Thomas Bowen

Absolutely the worst. Zero problems with Dr. Mangie but as soon as I was switched to Dr. Ku, nothing but problems. Jen from surgery scheduling is incredibly rude. She will constantly reschedule your appointments without confirmation because there are more important patients. She acts condescending when you can't drop your job to make it to the same day appointment she set up after the hospital forgot yet another test needed for surgery. My mouth is pouring blood every day & I've repeatedly been told that there's nothing they can do but apparently wait months for treatment. Completely incompetent staff. Very clear all the money goes only into making the building look nice.Ashes Nicole

My daughter went to preschool here… Great program each preschooler was assigned a Student teacher and all was covered by a main teacher. They learn through play. Made home made ice cream… went on field trips made their very own pizza. Made snacks and cleaned up the mess. Too much to List. Honestly, I should've stayed at my home school. A lot of the faculty think they're high and mighty because they work in a technical school, nonetheless, they are no help when there are issues amidst. And some of the academic teachers pull rules out of nowhere that are no way in the handbook and they definitely pick and choose students. Want to come here? This is a great school in my opinion, I take automotive technology and it's a great course. I've learned a lot in the classroom that now helps me at my work in a dealership as a lube tech. I learned about BATA when I was doordashing one day and i’m so glad I did because I love it! I highly recommend it to anyone looking to become an EMT or just looking for experience. The VP of BATA, Nicky, is awesome and very understanding! My instructors Paul Bieber and Steve Albright are the best instructors I could’ve asked for. They make such a great learning environment and have a fun way of teaching. Another great thing about BATA is that you get so much hands on experience, meet tons of cool people/instructors and learn new skills such as how to backboard, use spider straps, how to use a gurney, etc. and also get to go on ride alongs with different ambulance companies. My first ride along was with Dominic LaMonica and Kyle Sylvia, who are two Westmed EMTs. I’m so appreciative of them and how they taught and treated me during my ride along. It was such an exciting experience and they made sure I was comfortable and that I was included the whole time. Im so grateful for Bay area training academy and all i’ve learned; I will always recommend it to anyone looking to go into EMS.Angie Espinoza

I did the 3 week course and had Scott as my instructor. The program was definitely intense and filled with lots of information. However, Scott converted the dense lecture material into simpler terms. He would always include funny, interesting anecdotes that enhanced my learning experience. He was very supportive of everyone in the class and always answered my questions thoroughly. I also want to thank my skills instructors (Dakota, Frank, Ben, Scotty, and Tank) for being so helpful throughout the course. They made sure that we practiced the EMT skills numerous times and were really helpful as well. Although this class was extremely fast paced, I wouldn’t choose any other program. It is very rewarding and I definitely feel equipped to work as an EMT.Michelle Doan

The absolute best. Did the 3 week EMT course and was extremely worried coming into the first day. Immediately felt comfortable after the first interaction. Never knew that 12 hours could go by that quickly. Scott is a well-versed instructor and made the course by far the most entertaining and exciting experience one could possibly have. All of the 6 Skills instructors I interacted with also some of the best teachers one could have. If you are ever on the edge of signing up for any of their EMT courses, go for it.
