5 Best Dental Hygiene Programs In New Orleans, LA (2022 Updated)

This school is the best option for those wanting to become a dental assistant. The cost is cheap, class is only 1 day a week, and the instructors are great. You DO need to study material throughout the week but this program allows the student to continue working during the week without having to commit in-person time to the program. This program is cost-effective, time effective, and allows future dental assistants to gain hands on experience. I can not applaud my instructors enough. Each one had decades of experiences and you truly learn exactly what you need to perform well as a dental assistant. In addition, Tevin with student services was always willing to help me find a job as well as solve an issues that may arise within the program. This program ensures that you are matched with a job if for some reason an individual can not find one. What more can you ask for? After graduating this program I personally took a different route by heading to Florida, which by the way is one of the most restrictive states to dental assist in, and I was STILL able to find a job QUICKLY. Even before I let the program I had several dental practices that wanted to hire me immediately out of school…some even before I got out. If you're looking to start a new career as a dental assistant, this school will give you a great foundation for the job. I was very confident when I applied to be a dental assistant after graduation from the program. You may or may not get the job right away but the program coordinator, Tevin, will always update the information about hiring offices/practices through emails. Plus, you can ask him any questions regarding job interviews, etc. Both instructor and coordinator are very professional and super helpful!Uyen Ha

We registered for this school based on the location being in Terrytown, LA. When we finally got someone on the phone to answer some questions we found out that location closed. The school didn't change the address on Facebook or Google so the old address was still showing up. The new location is over an hour away so we asked for a refund in November way before school started. We have not received the refund yet. They are holding our $750 deposit for as long as they can. the staff is so ridiculously incompetent. the advisors never answer emails, sometimes ill send an email and wait a week for a response and never get one, so ill send another email, and another, and another, and finally get a response that most of the time doesnt even answer the full question being asked. different staff members will also tell you conflicting information, leaving you confused on what you’re supposed to do. you can never get ahold of anyone to help you. my boyfriend went here as well and was given the wrong schedule of classes which ended with him needing to attend an extra semester to take the class he actually needed. also they practically have new advisors for each major every year, and they never tell you when your advisor has changed or even update the website, so you just have to email the old one 40 times before they finally answer and tell you who you’re supposed to be emailing. if you dont like being stressed and confused all the time i recommend u just go somewhere else!Mia Carbo (Meyuh)

I have been a student here for 2 years and I have no idea how they have any students. No matter how early you submit financial aid they process at the last minute. At least twice I have had to contact the department of education to explain changes on my student aid that they could not justify or explain. As of today it has been 1 solid month trying to get someone on the phone to ask questions about my financial aid which has been submitted 2 months ago but still not processed. When you do manage to get someone on the phone they are rude and often give conflicting information from one department to the next. The excuse is always that they are swamped with calls, which to me is an invalid excuse! If that many calls coming in they should use the money collected from tuition to hire more people to answer the call of the students paying their salary.This will be my last semester at this school! Their financial aid office is absolutely HORRIBLE! I was first approved for aid that I apparently don't qualify for. Once approved, it later disappeared, and I was never notified that I wasn't qualified for it. After learning my classes weren't secured, I only was able to get in touch with the financial aid office through their live chat online, and I'd been trying to get in touch via email and phone for days beforehand. They do not answer phone calls or emails, which I find extremely unprofessional. After finally getting in touch with them, I learn I qualify for a different financial aid package, approve it, then it disappears again. Turns out, Im not qualified for that either and was again never notified. If you have to deal with their financial aid office, good luck!A H

Here is where the MAGIC happens. The best & brightest are trained for all things medical. Big brains come together to learn & fostering an environment that is conducive to learning & advancing the future via medical technologies. My mother worked here & as a child, I roamed the halls being a lookey-lu & even now, I am astounded by the advances of medicine & the medical community. I love the LSUHSC Community at large as they get it & understand the major undertaking of the health & well being of the Greater New Orleans Area; what a some what daunting yet accomplishable task. Love the campus expansion & I think it makes for a more comfortable & welcoming environment for students & staff alike.Teneha B

I have been to 2 appointments here thus far. I am so pleased with my experience here and the care I received from my student dentist, Kayla. She is clearly respected by her fellow students as being skilled and knowledgeable. I look forward to the rest of my treatment plan because I know she is going to be looking out for my comfort and making sure I receive the best care possible every step of the way. I’m glad I’m seeing her at the school because I probably won’t be able to afford whichever high-end private practice recruits her after graduation.Joshua Watkin

I'm a real reviewer here okay so when I walked into this place the floors were sqeaky clean and the staff were also awsome must wear a jacket tho cause it's Definitely cold for secure and safety reasons my nurse and student were excellent and I'd recommend the 3 I had to anyone that needs help you should go check them out for sure guysMarley G

This is by far the worst school in general you could ever study at. There is a lot of things they don't ever mention to you. For example did you know their passing rate is only about 20%? That means you have about an 80% chance of completely flunking out of the school. Their teachers will literally admit to you that they dont even know the information they are teaching and if they took the test they would fail. Their advisors are unreachable. Their coordinators never know what is going on especially Salas. The school decided to even change the entire format of a major test 2 days before the students were meant to take it. They just gave the students some obscure packet and told them to look it over before the test and good luck. They legitimately do not care about the students and only want to make people repeat for the money. Please spare yourself and attend any other school.Carlos Gonzalez

The faculty members at this school don't know their head from their posterior lower extremities. This school lines their pockets with thousands of dollars in student fees, compact cram a semester worth of studies into one month, then they squat where they're standing and squirt sneeze it out just for you so they dont have to pay you back. The only thing that is ever maintained here is a false sense of superiority while they come here to collect a check off their bare minimum, McDonald's drive through work ethic all while exploiting people. The staff is very rude and unprofessional. Nasty attitudes. Useless. Not helpful at all. First time ever coming here and needed directions where to sign up at and I asked some lady and she said “look for it yourself.” She was literally sitting at her desk reading a book. PLEASE DO YOUR JOB! Help students that wants to get help! I can’t believe she couldn’t answer a simple question. I wasted my time there.
