I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. It is a fantastic education at a great price. If you are looking for a great community college, look no further than STCC. First and foremost, Norwalk Community College was the first two-year college known since 1960, and they have been serving and assisting students in achieving the school readiness you have always desired but if you have struggled at some point. NCC will assist you in overcoming your obstacles to the point where you feel smart, confident, and accomplished. This college is my top choice because it is affordable, not overcrowded, has a super clean and safe building, and has no historically known hate crime in the area, which is an A+ in today's environment. There is plenty of parking, as well as the best tutoring center, which is a lifeline for students who want to improve their grades or need assistance with the curriculum. It's a good starting school but extremely disorganized with idiots for employees. Dr Apple or apfel is a complete and total moron. She is so ungodly useless. She is extremely disorganized no wonder all of the students hate her. She wouldn't shake our hands because she said that's how germs are spread. Get rid of this delusional troll! She made an appointment for 12 and then when we got there said it was for 4pm. Um hello!? This school is so DISORGANIZED. If you're willing to put up with complete chaos for two years then go here. Either believe the previous reviews of 'smelling like poverty and cigarettes', or understand that community college is the last place to find a living, breathing example of the American Dream. On top of that, NCC is the most well-funded community college, the most prestigious, and has the highest share of incredible professors than any other community college in the region. But it won't motivate you to succeed. You have to do that yourself. And if you do not find that drive within yourself in time, do not blame the college for your shortcomings. This is a really good school if you’re all about your academics. I’ve had my good times and my bad times here at MCC. Overall on the academic side of MCC I appreciate all of the hard work that most of my professors have done. There are professors here that definitely need to be more qualified with what they are teaching as it has affected my grades when I’ve taken their courses. I am an Honor student here at MCC with a GPA of 3.30 and have never once had an issue with organization skills until my 2019 spring semester. A couple of the professors have been unorganized, no syllabus and sometimes they have other priorities when they have to teach a class in other words they put another professor in place when they have to go to another job. Although these were a couple of issues within my time here at MCC I enjoyed the experience of learning new knowledge for my future career. I really liked a lot of my professors but a couple of them have been a little rough. If you communicate with your professors about your issues that you’re having it really helps and shows that you’re determined to do your work and it shows you care about your work as well. Environment wise I’d have to say it’s not healthy (mentally/physically) and or good for many people. There have been students who have left garbage all over the place and don’t clean up after themselves which leads to maintenance having to clean it all up. With my time here I have helped maintenance clean up other people’s messes so they don’t have to worry about it as much. Also the amount of vaping, drug use, and underage drinking in the lounge is unacceptable and nothing has been done to take care of this issue except shutting the lounge down. I feel as if this does nothing but illustrates that they can go elsewhere within the college and do these things. An authority figure should really take this into consideration and do something about this because it affects others who have nothing to do with these people and it ruins people’s Health. You can smell weed from a mile away and if people have asthma or a health condition this could affect them physically. I do not appreciate this at all and I wish something was done about it. The other big issue environmentally is the fact that the main cafeteria can get very loud and some students have no manners and do not respect others around them. If they are asked to quiet down they do the opposite It has gotten to the point where a lot of people have complained and yet nothing is done to prevent this from happening again. The college needs to have some control over what students do and take action on these issues. I wish that there could be some changes here and I hope for the best for everyone at MCC. Overall it is a good school for your academics but is definitely not a mentally healthy place environmentally. Even if you try to get away and go somewhere else for privacy somehow drama follows behind you. A Tip would be after your classes go home if you can or go to the back of the library in the quiet study room. So I will start with sharing my positive highlights of the fall semester during covid. Some teachers were empathetic to the situation the entire nation went through. Prof. Muldoon did such an amazing job touching base and gaining clarity of students frustration and technical difficulties during this time. Prof Diane. Hillyer OMG if I were ever to be a college professor I’d want to have her passion and dedication. She’s a math angel, truly loves her job and her videos were perfect! Now chemistry online and labs online were a joke!!! The professor did not make enough office hours, used YouTube videos from other teachers, used repetitive templates for each week lesson with no data. If I wanted to learn chemistry that way I could’ve honestly gone on Edx.org for FREE and probably have learned the curriculum better. I might of missed 1 assignment and handed in 1 assignment 10 mins late and didn’t receive the grade or support needed. But unfortunately as a paying student I just have to deal with it, 2k down the drain! Funny thing I am also a teacher during covid and actually work in the building with student and never would I have ever made my students feel isolated like this professor did. I’ve never seen or heard my chemistry teachers voice but I’m pretty sure they got paid every two weeks while there’s probably many qualified teachers that could have done a way better job. I was warned about this professor but I learned the hard way. The school overall has a nice faculty and I feel like the majority do care. This is unfortunate when professor get so accustomed to a repetitive lifestyle because blackboard actually graded my exams so again not sure what some professor did during Covid behind the scene and so-called virtual teaching. This is a a good school to start or to get the credits needed for a post-Bach. I decided to go to a private school with a more dedicated team and more virtual teaching experience.Dignora Castillo

I was a potential international student and found Manchester Community College a great place to go. I called the first time and wasn’t able to talk to the responsible for international students but left my phone number and email. Umesh sent me an email saying he would give me a call. He did, two days later and was rude and impatient since the moment I picked up the phone and was acting like he was doing me a favor to call me. He said I should go back to my country and take my visa there instead of changing my status here, which is not up to him, was questioning how I was gonna become a student and more. I can’t even explain how rude and disrespectful he was to me who was just trying to make an appointment to go to the campus and get more informations in person about fees and the I20. Most of the bad reviews are coming from people who had ONE bad experience at like the book store or whatever or i gEt tHiEr aDs oN hUlu, though the veteran who shared his story probably has a decent case to make. Anyway I got a business degree from this college and if you actually try you can do really really well here, with great professors and programs like the honors program which gives high level learning at bottom dollar, and wonderful faculty like the folks at PTK, disability services, or the Fuller Center. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to work on regarding graduation rates, the food, no one card system, etc but I couldn't give this place anything less than 5 stars because of all of the wonderful people who give 110% here, especially in those departments I mentioned. If you live in Worcester don't spend 30k a year to go to Assumption, you'll save so much money to come here. Seek opportunity, study for your tests, respect your professors and faculty, and most importantly, do your damn homework; I guarantee you'll be a success at this place if you do all of these things.Clark Kent

The qcc "police" are some of the most unqualified and unempathetic people in the area. There is no doubt they have no training, no expertise in law and zero idea of what they are doing. I first came to Goodwin for a Manufacturing Career Fair on August 2014. My plan going in was to improve/expand my professional network but after introducing myself to the two ladies at the front door, I was escorted to the admissions office. During this impromptu meeting I learned of their range of Manufacturing programs ranging from a Collegiate Certificate to Bachelor's Degrees. The lady I met with was very nice so I decided to let her run through her whole pitch before refusing. After she finished running through her speech I was about to politely decline when my eyes fell upon a pamphlet detailing their Certificate in CNC Machining. My attitude switched from polite dismissal to serious consideration. By the time the holiday season was in force, I had officially enrolled. From the Spring 2015 – Fall 2016 semesters, I experienced the most fulfilling education of my life. Classes tailored to my major were taught by professors with real-life experience in the manufacturing field. Knowledge gained from operating machines in the school's shop helped me secure my first manufacturing based job (which at the time of this review, I have been at for over a year). Around two weeks ago I walked in the 2017 Commencement with my CNC Certificate AND Associate's Degree (Summa Cum Laude!!!). Making the choice to again become a student with Goodwin College is one I do not regret, in spite of my now increased loan debt. Looking for a quality education with real life application? I graduated in 2006 with a General Business Degree the Staff and Faculty were all very helpful and on top of their jobs. I signed back for classes in 2013 for my Bachelor's Degree in Business unfortunately the staff and faculty changed in a Very Negative way. I had Mr. Rotondo as my Advisor who had me taking classes that i had previously taken also the Black Board Online classes system kept going down I another class were i completed the work on time but their system did not register my work it had been idled for 36 or more hours and never registered my work causing me a NS for the class this caused a snowball affect to the downfall of me no longer attending classes. I talked with Professor Valeria he advised i write some sort of letter which i did explaining the double classes Mr. Rotondo had me take due to him not paying attention to my previous classes for He was my teacher in 2004-2006. So far I love the complex, the professor are really nice and helpful. They want you to pass the class for sure. The only thing I can complain is for the service of Financial Aid. I am a transfer from Lincoln College and when I was about to change they explain me that it would be cheaper or about the same. Before classes start I went to Financial Aid to see how much it was going to cost me, but they didn't have any information of me yet. Then I received a message saying "to not go to financial aid" I could start right away. I went again the day before start and they couldn't tell me anything. They charge already for the semester, it shown in my credit report, this is my third week of class and I do not even know if is the same as Lincoln, more expensive or less.Christian Diaz

I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. This place is a perfect example of “you get what you pay for”. I attended September 2009 – May 2018 (with a 3 year gap from 2012-2015). The hospitality teachers and department head were wonderful, and a lot of my general Ed teachers were amazing too and I have nothing but great things to say about the teachers. However, the registrar office and academic advisors were a nightmare to deal with. No one ever smiles, my message NEVER got relayed to the right person, and it was such a headache to deal with offices equivalent to dealing with the DMV. They also claimed that when you graduate you can transfer your credits to a state college which is false. Some of the credits transferred, but classes like Math don’t transfer and I have to take a placement test to get into the same exact math class I took at Gateway and passed the class with an A. The bookstore staff was the most incapable, rude, useless group of people. Graduation was a completely unorganized joke – they told graduates to arrive 2 hours early to stand in a parking lot with no instruction and 1 porta potty for about 300 people. They also only announce 1 of your degrees – so if you have 3 degrees they won’t even take the extra 5 seconds to announce all 3 (I thought graduation was supposed to recognize your achievements?) I would have never wasted my time going to graduation if I knew how pathetic it would be. Parking on campus in New Haven was crazy and the lot constantly overflows into the Temple Street lot so you get to walk in stairways that smell like urine with bums roaming the lot and drunk people stumbling to their car after your class at 9:30 at night with no security guards to get to your car. Literally no security whatsoever like your completely on your own in a public lot in the heart of New Haven. Like most schools, they don’t allow weapons inside the building so you don’t even have a way to defend yourself if you get approached in the lot which will happen at some point. There were also hospitality classes that I had to buy things out of pocket and was promised reimbursement that never happened.Nina Tiso

I loved working with the children in the Early Learning Center, but the adults in the classroom didn't really treat me that well. They didn't really accommodating me that well when it came to tasks such as setting the table for breakfast,lunch, and snack. A coworker got nasty because I wasnt moving fast enough for her. I'm visually impaired and I have to take my time because of my vision. I had to complain about this coworker 2 times. Another thing that didnt make sense was I had to walk to the other side of campus to eat lunch for my 30 minute break. The teacher of the classroom would get mad at me for being late because I am a slow eater and I cant move fast again because of my bad vision. student teachers aren't allowed to eat in the teachers lounge. I shouldn't have had to complain to my boss about eating in the teacher lounge. This place needs to be more accommodating to student teachers with disabilities and staff needs to be more compassionate. I am very glad that I don't work at this place anymore! Beautiful atmosphere. I was in their old building on Long wharf years ago, and seeing how they've grown and progressed into what I consider a university now, is life changing for the people attending this college. For a community college, they offer so much for the students with assistance as well as their educational endeavors. It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review but I am in hopes of MCPHS revising their admissions process for the Physician Assistant Program. I know that I was not the only student this year that was invited to interview and then closed out of an interview spot and placed on a waiting list. When I contacted MCPHS they told me that I may not get to interview after all as they had accidentally invited too many people to interview and did not have the resources to open up more interview dates even though acceptances are not on a rolling basis. How does a top tier medical university not have the resources to interview all the students they invited? By choosing to interview solely the people that happened to secure spots first, not only are they limiting the potential of their incoming class and proving that they only care about filling the spots for monetary reasons, but they are limiting the future of numerous successful students who worked hard to get an interview invitation. When I asked Jordan Hunt (admissions counselor) to make sense of this she was unable to provide a competent answer besides that the university messed up and the incoming students are the ones facing the repercussions. I’m not writing this for myself, but for the other students who were too timid to speak up or who had chosen this school as their top choice and then got screwed. I truly feel bad for some of the other incoming students who do not have other options and were relying on MCPHS. I am very disappointed. MCPHS either needs to change their interviewing process to rolling acceptances (interviewing the top tier students first and then going down the line) or they need to use this model but be willing to open up more dates in case of overflow. Side note: They informed me that students on the waiting list could be notified up to a day before an interview that a spot had opened up. Do they not take into consideration that everyone doesn’t live near Boston or works full-time? Extremely dissatisfied with this supposedly “top tier” medical college.Maddy Frank

Hey guys, good for all the students giving great remarks. I don't know if the school has paid you. I must say i was in the nursing program , ( the set that started 2005) the teachers were very bad. Everything was very difficult, out of 50 students that got into the nursing program only 15 students or even less that graduated from the program. Judy Murphy was very racist, no room for improvement. It was a very bad school. I will recommend another school any day any time as matter off fact the school needs to refund money back to students that paid for tuition. All they care about is your money and not the students. It was a very traumatic experience. It was one of the worst decision i have ever made in life to attend that college. I Owe up to 100,000 in debt with no nursing degree to show for. I thank the Almighty God i got my degree from another school with no stress or frustration. Guys open your eyes and look for another school. I just finished my second-year in PharmD program in MCPHS. I’m gonna transfer to Worcester to study the accelerated program. I have had great time in MCPHS so far. All professors are very nice and friendly. I haven’t met any professor who’s not willing to help student wholeheartedly. They always have office hours to answer students’ inquiries and to clarify the lecture in case the students don’t understand. There are absolutely no discrimination in MCPHS. It’s all about respect. Every MCP student is very welcoming so we have a very close-knit community in MCP. The program is well-designed and bearable. Sometime I feel overwhelmed but it’s not impossible to pass as many people say. You just need to put time and effort and you’ll be fine. Manor College is a really great place to get started with many, many different programs to get your foot in to the door and get wonderful experiences in any field you are thinking about going into. Its a smaller campus, so you get to know people a lot faster. Classes are a wonderful size so you don't feel crowded, and it makes getting to know your teacher on a more professional and personal scale. The staff at Manor are the most wonderful and helpful people you will ever meet, they actually get to know you and make sure you are staying on track of all of your assignments, and staying on track with courses so that you graduate on time. Manor has a wonderful basketball and track team, along with many other programs such as Student Senate and CAB (campus activity board), which I joined my first semester and plan on joining again. They have many, many different activities that they plan throughout the school year to make sure everyone is staying involved and getting to know other students and make new friends. They are very inclusive with many different types of people and talk about many different types of religion and ethics so that everyone gets a chance to feel special and then the other students stay more informed about other people lifestyles. Our president, President Peri is the most wonderful man you will ever meet and always make sure you are doing well, and getting to stressed and when ever you see him he makes time to just catch up with everyone and get feedback about everyones lives and classes. I have nothing but good things to say about my experience at Manor College. The beautiful campus hosts the bright eyed individuals seeking to further their education and the dedicated faculty and staff do their best to provide an excellent experience for all students. The small class sizes foster strong connections in and out of the classroom, and almost everyone gets to know you by name. One would think that a relatively small school wouldn't be able to pull in talented professors and bright students, but all of my professors during my time here have many experiences and are amazing at what they do. The campus life office is dedicated to everything that happens outside of the classroom, and they have so many events for students, some of which I have been directly involved with, and you can tell that everyone deeply cares about what they do here. Manor is going to grow exponentially in the future, with a fantastic new President in Jonathan Peri, a man with a vision so great and connections so deep that Manor will most likely become not just the premier two year catholic college, but one of the premier four year catholic colleges. My son graduated from Manor College a couple of years ago. It was a very positive experience for him. He has ADD & Aspergers Autism; he didn’t want to tell the faculty so that he was treated the same as any other college student. The staff here is very easy for a student to talk to & gave my son any help he asked for. My son graduated with honors with his associate degree in accounting. For a small community college it is wonderful. Beautiful campus with a creek running behind the dorms & has resident Canadian geese which wander freely on the campus. It is located in the suburbs outside of the Philadelphia area. The college is affiliated with many other colleges & recently has started to offer bachelors degree programs besides their associate degree programs. They are known best for their Vet Tech program & their dental programs. They have their own farm & community dental center which are great for the students practical experiences.Evelyn

I went here for my first two years of college. Here's what I've noticed. – The people here are great, for the most part. – UNH emphasizes on a welcoming environment – There's always new development like the Bergami center which is a very nice looking building. – I lived in Westside and Winchester halls. Both are good! – I was in Engineering which I struggled in, but when I changed my major to accounting I had no struggle. – I just really wish UNH was more helpful with finance and mental health. – They were WAY too strict with Covid. Yes, I understand the dangers, but we're adults you have to remember. They threatened to suspend if you violate rules, even accidentally. They also quarantined my entire hall in 2020 just because one student got covid. I really didn't believe they had to be that harsh. – They were also TERRIBLE with communication when moving in for my 2nd year (because of covid), and I had to spend a month trying to figure out when to move in. – The Accessibility resources center is a good place, but once they forbid me from using a calculator on a chemistry exam in March of 2020. Everybody but the ARC staff thought that was terrible. – Their math department was terrible. The professors meant well, but it was not taught in an interesting way. – On a positive note, they are fantastic at safety. In January of 2021 I got cyberbullied by someone in the school who made threats including a death threat. The ResLife dept. handled it very well and the police took it very seriously and found the guy doing it, someone who I thought was a friend. He was suspended. Overall, UNH is not perfect, but their heart is in the right place. I didn't leave for any of these reasons listed, that's another story entirely. But if you are Nick, Chris, Lucas, Antonia, Victoria, Makayla, Jenna, Galianna, Alexa, or Patrick, I miss you!James Shewan

I attended UNH between spring 2019 and January 2021 (two years) as a transfer, and earned a Bachelor's degree in Criminal Justice (Investigative Services Concentration). I am giving this school 3 stars because excluding a very good academic experience, there were too many low moments I experienced at UNH for me to give this review more stars. These low moments range from lack of opportunities for commuter students (which is what I was for 3/4 semesters), existing social circles that prevent prospective students from feeling any sense of belonging, the school's fostering and promotion of the word "LatinX", and other things. (Mainly because I am a Latino/Hispanic male originally from South America, and don't see how the word is applicable to the Central/South American community). The pandemic did affect the college experience in spring 2020, but my experience was already going downhill well before this. For these reasons, I feel as though this was an era of my life that never happened. Above all, I find it difficult to talk about this era and school in more positive (than negative) ways. I do recommend this school for my degree. My professors did an excellent job of teaching me. But it all does come at a cost because setbacks or letdowns (described above) can quickly affect a student's experience. Likewise, I am considering graduate school here because my professional job search opened my eyes to how graduate degrees are becoming the new standard for the U.S workforce. You would think that this school being a “community college” they are more understanding of financial situations and are more efficient with financial aid an other “programs” they offer. Not this school! Not only does every single person in the financial aid office treat you just like another person asking for handouts but depending on what staff you run into behind the desk you might not even get the correct information! I went to the financial aid office yesterday due to the fact that I found out when trying to register for classes for spring 2018 that I was on a financial “probation” these people gave me NO NOTICE NO CALL NO NOTHING but that’s the least of my worry at this point. I go to their office the girl behind the desk had told me due to me getting a D in my math class last semester of 2017 financial aid was skeptical about covering classes for this upcoming semester so I would have to appeal( good thing I came a week before registRtion was over ) I appeal the form then I get a notice in the mail saying I’ve been only approved for 1 class this semester up to 6 credits. I was a little bothered, but I took it, I go down to finally register once again! Then I was told I didn’t have enough for books an technically they were only covering up to 3 credits an my class is 4 so I owe the school clerk a balance of $23.00 and now I’m also expected to pay for my text book. 6 days before class starts … what happened to the notice they sent me that said they cover up to six credits???? literally because I struggled in my math class last semester an got a D I’m going through all this torture as someone who is barely able to pay my own freaking bills at 20 an living by myself just trying to get my own education, every Semester it’s something else with this school the office people SUCK they are there for a job an that’s it. Then When you ask to speak to someone in charge of financial aide they torture you with hold for atleast a good 20 minutes on the phone ( probably praying for you to hang up) unless your willing to take 2 and three trips down to the office which is no problem probably for someone who doesn’t works full time.so now that the semester is getting ready to start an they feel like they did their part by covering the “majority” of my class (3 out of 4 credits, which my paper says they should cover up to 6 credits at least but whatever) I’m now expected to fend for myself an purchase a $200 text book within the next six days. Boy I can’t wait to be successful in my near future an to look back on the mistreatment an lack of support from this school an tell it to others as a learning experience an as a recommendation to never attend here just because of the thought of it being “cheaper” or “local” because u get what u paid for an these people’s attitude is just as cheap as the tuition they offer for a class an they lack what REAL schools have an that’s staff that cares about their students and the well being of others. An to make sure they give right answers these schools double triple quadruple check their work! If you attend TRCC as a freshman with no idea what your doing I suggest looking for support else where because this is not the school, they throw you in an don’t give a damn, not informative or helpful what so ever an definetly misleading . Professors and fellow students are great but the administration and admissions process is a night mare. Little to no help to navigate threw the process. No one is willing to answer question. They always refer you to another person. Example: Me: Can you please tell me how I can access the wifi here? Advisor: You will have to contact a student advisor for that. Me: :/ Avoid online courses here. Professor did not make access easy. Not clear as to what material is needed. If professor isn't able to help you navigate course or they themselves aren't sure of what to do you will still be responsible for payment. Only time in my life I hired a professional service and they were unable to preform paid for task and I was still responsible for payment. And of course there is no one available to talk to about this and if there is no one knows who it is to refer you. If you do decide to take courses here try to make friends with other students that have already been threw the admissions/ administration nightmare. Don't take online. 1: I registered for a class and dropped it a before week prior to it starting, boy was I in for a surprise bill. $120 for a class I didn’t even step foot in, let alone it didn’t even start when I dropped it. What a SCAM. Of course I had no choice but to pay it. So just be cautious when you’re registering for a class, because you cannot change you’re mind and not expect to pay a fee even if the class hasn’t begun. 2: If you’re “graduating” be sure to wait months for your actual diploma to be delivered. Very unorganized system they have going there. I graduated in may and have yet to receive any proof of it. My transcript is still not updated with my current degree and my diploma is who knows where. Sucks. 3. If you’re receiving financial aid and you’re registered for a class and the school decides they want to cancel it, be prepared to repay financial aid back.S G

The first thing I will say about this school is that the student population is one of the rudest and meanest student populations in the country. Everyone I have met at this place is all about appearing cool and smart, and if you don't go to school here you are looked down upon. The dorms are absolutely terrible here and most buildings are made of concrete. Most state universities are the pride of the state but I don't think people view UMass that way. The school used to have friendly students and a low tuition/fees, now it is the exact opposite. When you go to Umass you are paying for a college experience, your not paying for a quality education. Public schools are a major part of the downfall of society, and this school is a perfect example of a school doing that. Every time I have been on this campus I am not acknowledged and if you don't conform to Umass standards you are an outsider. I understand education is important but the students/staff could at least show some respect to people outside their clique of Umass society. Umass has gotten better in some aspects but in many aspects it is still failing. It is not a open minded campus. I think most people who leave this school are so absorbed into a career mindset that they forget that life is about more than just a career and income. A major problem with universities especially UMass is people choose a very narrow path of education. People should be interested in many different fields of knowledge rather than what their major is. Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. Dr. Rakesh is a perfectionist and one of the best dentist in the areas. Even though he was not my primary dentist, I had called him over last Saturday weekend late evening for a help in pain of my tooth ( when my primary dentist did not had an emergency ph number to contact in case of emergency ) and was on call with me to issue the medication to reduce my pain and even talk to pharmacy mid-night to help me in prescription. Pain was reduced for Sunday and was able to wait for Monday. Monday he looked into detail and spent a lot of time with utmost patience on the issue and referred me to other dentist for an RC and got my RC done on Tuesday morning. He followed up couple of times next day to check on me and how I was feeling. He has been always helpful and takes time on diagnosis always. Will always recommend him to anyone. Front desk support Cynthia is also awesome and helps the process go smooth and all staff is excellent and very supportive. The place is super clean. Highly recommend again.sandeep anand

This past Fall was my first experience with the clinic and I can't say enough good things about my care. From the instructors and students, it was a great experience. The attention to detail and thoroughness is something that I haven't experienced at a dentist appointment in a long time. Just keep in mind that it can be very time consuming, and there may be a lot of appointments due to requirements the students must meet and what you need done. IMO, it's worth it for the level of care you'll get. Not only are the students great, but everything is gone over to make sure it's 100% and up to standards. I’ve been going to Pierce College Dental Clinic every 6 months since 2017. I’ve had such thorough care and treatment I ended up changing my daughter’s dental care to Pierce as well. I love that they take Provider One dental insurance because it is extremely difficult to get into other providers with this type of insurance. The service was superb! I had an emergency, I called and they fit me into their schedule! Let me explain a little further— my tooth started hurting last Friday. I called Sat morning and they told me to come in on that same day! They took X-rays and it turned out I needed that tooth extracted.
