20 Best Dental Hygiene Programs In Boston, MA (2022 Updated)

I took the CNA ‘Plus’ programme there back in October 2021. For $2395 we never got a clinical! And the facilities and equipment provided were unbelievable! One mannequin with its leg falling out and not even a proper night gown to keep it from being exposed! Sheets were dirty! Equipment faulty, and now we are STILL waiting to take our state licensure exams! If you’re taking the CNA programme, do not take the “plus part” it is a waste of money and time. State Street U is amazing. I attended 22 years ago and stopped by for the first time since then and I was amazed to find, updated buildings, a beautiful store, and a whole new feel. The professors and professionals were mostly great when I was there and though I don't attend, I had a chance to talk to administrators and they are still amazing. It is a fantastic education at a great price. If you are looking for a great community college, look no further than STCC. I do not recommend this school to anyone. There was a lot of grade school style homework and a broad spectrum of effort put in by my professors. Most of my homework was distributed digitally by the respective text book's website — NOT the professor. This created a huge disconnect when discussing homework issues in class. It was frustrating knowing my professors were not curating our homework, rather, it was being outsourced by a subsidized textbook. Their job is to educate, but remember they are there to make a profit. I could not afford my bill so they sold my debt to a collection agency.J s

My first college experience was here and it wasn't a particularly good one. The building is nice with a very comfortable atmosphere, though the parking lot is a nightmare. There is not WiFi through the entire building, which is infuriating for a student with an on campus class that is also entirely on the internet. Great school. but I think if we're paying $300.00 for a book and paying $8.00 on top of that for shipping a signature should be required from UPS and some type of insurance on it. So cases like your book being stolen off your front steps don't happen. Then actually getting in contact with someone to help replace it is even worse. Bookstore pretty much said I'm on my own. I work here as staff and find the working environment pretty good. My bosses have been good, my coworkers are dependable, and the students seem well behaved and conscientious (most of the time). The new buildings are nice, and the harbor walk is kind of amazing, and the beach is very chill. Good luck finding a place as tranquil anywhere else near the city. There is however one small con and one big con.. the small con is that there aren't that many places to eat and Sodexo runs all the food on campus, and their attempts at ethnic foods are sad. And the aforementioned big con is that there is no less than 3 buildings being built on this tight peninsula right now, and one huge building that was taken down over the year I've been here.. the construction is a mess. Though the new, finished buildings, like the science complex, are great. But if you can take the T somehow, as I do, this place is fantastic.Mikhail M. Nitko

UMASS Boston has a Beautiful campus on the waterfront! It is building two Brand new buildings as student housing with a dinning hall on the first floor, overlooking the Boston harbor with a million dollar view. UMASS Boston has a collaborative research program with Dana Farber Cancer Institute that students can be a part of. I love the new Integrated science center, incubating many New exciting NIH sponsored science research studies. It is an exciting time for UMASS Boston which has a new chancellor with generous scholarship. Chancellor merit scholarship will allow students to get world class education for free.Khuong Nguyen

I am a student here at UMB, the professors are great. The administration is bureaucratic and inefficient and lacks transparency on any basic level. Parking here is dependent upon arrival time. If you get here at 10:20 good luck finding a space in bayside, probably will have to park at the globe. Clinical placement sites for Nursing are good, labs are good, the school is constantly under construction and areas are always being blocked off. Parking will soon cost between 9-15 dollars a day according to emails from the uni. So it’s alright but the university is slowly draining the life of its commuters.Bill Whitney

Most of the bad reviews are coming from people who had ONE bad experience at like the book store or whatever or i gEt tHiEr aDs oN hUlu, though the veteran who shared his story probably has a decent case to make. Anyway I got a business degree from this college and if you actually try you can do really really well here, with great professors and programs like the honors program which gives high level learning at bottom dollar, and wonderful faculty like the folks at PTK, disability services, or the Fuller Center. Don't get me wrong, there's a lot to work on regarding graduation rates, the food, no one card system, etc but I couldn't give this place anything less than 5 stars because of all of the wonderful people who give 110% here, especially in those departments I mentioned. If you live in Worcester don't spend 30k a year to go to Assumption, you'll save so much money to come here. Seek opportunity, study for your tests, respect your professors and faculty, and most importantly, do your damn homework; I guarantee you'll be a success at this place if you do all of these things.Clark Kent

The qcc "police" are some of the most unqualified and unempathetic people in the area. There is no doubt they have no training, no expertise in law and zero idea of what they are doing. Maybe they should take some courses while they work their jobs at qcc in criminal justice. Maybe they can get a handle on their jobs. This is an awesome school and I am so disappointed that one teacher ruined it all for me. DO NOT take Professor Jane Joyce accounting classes or any classes from her. She is awful and not a good teacher in general. You will waist your money, time, and probably want to rip your hair out when she talks. Harvard is one of the most prestigious universities in the World and every one wishes to visit it once in a life time. I had this chance to go there and walk around this beautiful institute. The good thing is that it is open for all and everyone could go around and visit. I saw many tourists there enjoying walking and taking photos. The good thing which I liked was that seeing people doing Yoga in the open space and in nature. I liked that and participated with them in yoga. It was nice walking around Harvard university . I would recommend either taking a guided tour or to download and follow the self guided tour so you understand the history behind the university. I loved the library and the story behind it. Unfortunately wasn’t able to go inside but would have loved to. I have to be honest about this. Good college when it comes to campus design, some Professor's teaching skills, and assistance for school related issues. Although, the school teaches bad ethics. For example, sports lack discipline. They will teach there athletes to run score boards up. Up by 20 in a basketball game with 3mins to go, they will shoot more three point shots than Steve Kerr. The most alarming thing is faculty will participate in Hazing students. I've watch this with my own two eyes. Call them out on it, and they will just deny it, at least my professor did. I am currently a student there, who help form a club, in order to help students get there basic needs to become a successful student. So just remember, good campus design, some Professors have good teaching styles, good for resources, but terrible place to learn good ethics. To me learning good ethics and applying them is one of the most important, or the most important thing to learn as a student. Would not be the first school I would want to send my child to. My alma mater which will always be in my heart till it stop beating (that might sound too dramatic) but hey that’s the truth! I learned a lot, got tons of experiences, got so many American and International friends, exchanged culture and collected precious moments in this place. I do recommend this college as an affordable and easy starting point but be ready to encounter many hurdles in your way and a lot of incompetent staff. Make sure to double check everything you do here, especially the financial aid part. The professors are nice but it’s on you to actually learn the material, the professors rarely will make sure you learned anything. It’s a 3 star college. It’s unfortunate that I have to write this review but I am in hopes of MCPHS revising their admissions process for the Physician Assistant Program. I know that I was not the only student this year that was invited to interview and then closed out of an interview spot and placed on a waiting list. When I contacted MCPHS they told me that I may not get to interview after all as they had accidentally invited too many people to interview and did not have the resources to open up more interview dates even though acceptances are not on a rolling basis. How does a top tier medical university not have the resources to interview all the students they invited? By choosing to interview solely the people that happened to secure spots first, not only are they limiting the potential of their incoming class and proving that they only care about filling the spots for monetary reasons, but they are limiting the future of numerous successful students who worked hard to get an interview invitation. When I asked Jordan Hunt (admissions counselor) to make sense of this she was unable to provide a competent answer besides that the university messed up and the incoming students are the ones facing the repercussions. I’m not writing this for myself, but for the other students who were too timid to speak up or who had chosen this school as their top choice and then got screwed. I truly feel bad for some of the other incoming students who do not have other options and were relying on MCPHS. I am very disappointed. MCPHS either needs to change their interviewing process to rolling acceptances (interviewing the top tier students first and then going down the line) or they need to use this model but be willing to open up more dates in case of overflow. Side note: They informed me that students on the waiting list could be notified up to a day before an interview that a spot had opened up. Do they not take into consideration that everyone doesn’t live near Boston or works full-time? Extremely dissatisfied with this supposedly “top tier” medical college.Maddy Frank

Hey guys, good for all the students giving great remarks. I don't know if the school has paid you. I must say i was in the nursing program , ( the set that started 2005) the teachers were very bad. Everything was very difficult, out of 50 students that got into the nursing program only 15 students or even less that graduated from the program. Judy Murphy was very racist, no room for improvement. It was a very bad school. I will recommend another school any day any time as matter off fact the school needs to refund money back to students that paid for tuition. All they care about is your money and not the students. It was a very traumatic experience. It was one of the worst decision i have ever made in life to attend that college. I Owe up to 100,000 in debt with no nursing degree to show for. I thank the Almighty God i got my degree from another school with no stress or frustration. Guys open your eyes and look for another school. I just finished my second-year in PharmD program in MCPHS. I’m gonna transfer to Worcester to study the accelerated program. I have had great time in MCPHS so far. All professors are very nice and friendly. I haven’t met any professor who’s not willing to help student wholeheartedly. They always have office hours to answer students’ inquiries and to clarify the lecture in case the students don’t understand. There are absolutely no discrimination in MCPHS. It’s all about respect. Every MCP student is very welcoming so we have a very close-knit community in MCP. The program is well-designed and bearable. Sometime I feel overwhelmed but it’s not impossible to pass as many people say. You just need to put time and effort and you’ll be fine. In short, MCPHS is a great university for those who seriously pursuit a professional career in pharmacy and health sciences.Bill Nguyen

Worst school I’ve ever attended! IT service has no phone number to reach out. School health insurance never reply your call. International student advisors hard to reach out. Student health center reply your email 3 month later. NEU just admitted as much students as they can each year to make money, and lack to staff to support any students.Belle

My infant was seen in the emergency room for a surgical issue that fortunately ended up not being emergent. The ER staff were very friendly, but there was very little communication and long periods of time without hearing from any providers. The surgery resident who saw us was very dismissive and spoke in half truths to influence our decision making. I say this because I myself am a physician and have worked in this hospital system and knew when she was at times flat out lying about how we "would wait 5 days for surgery if we chose to get admitted." The attending surgeon didn't bother to come see us or examine our child, but said we could forgo the clinic visit and get directly booked for surgery. We left without any follow up information or instructions and without even the name of the surgeon. It took 10 days for his office to contact us to schedule surgery for a problem that most surgeons choose to fix within 2 weeks of the diagnosis. Meanwhile, our pediatrician got us a next day appointment at another very reputable academic hospital, and we were immediately scheduled for surgery within the week. We do not intend to return to BCH for care.Alex F

They were great at performing her surgery, I will say that!! The doctors were amazing!! It was the nurses and staff I had HUGE ISSUES WITH!! She was there for about a month. One time I had an appointment and I couldn't be at the hospital that day. Upon returning, I noticed my then 4 month old had not been moved out of her bed or picked up the whole time I was gone which was close to 12 hrs!!!! I took pictures of how I found her upon returning and still have them. I called the right authorities and it never happened again!! Make sure to advocate for your child, especially if theu don't have a voice and you see something wrong!!! Don't be afraid because it's a hospital! It was horrible for her to have to go through and this was in 2018!!! I would still recommend them for any serious surgeries for your children, but no so much for very young children. If I had to do it again I'm not sure I would go to the same place for her gastronomy tube surgery. Expect to basically spend thousands on hotels and parking. Boston Children's has been amazing, the staff are so kind and friendly, very knowledgeable of and informative of everything going on with their patient. They have tons of activities going on everyday to keep the kids busy and spirit's high. The nurses are always checking in with the parents making sure they are okay and if they need something they make sure it is taken care of. I started going to NYU dental clinic in October 2017 for a dental evaluation and any work that may be needed including one implant on the upper right quadrant which had been missing for several years. Five years and many visits later and I need more work than ever, and we are still nowhere close to replacing the tooth I originally came in for. Now that clinic has broken at least three other teeth that later needed to be removed and I’m now walking around with three missing teeth, and one half-broken-off tooth in need of extraction. With no treatment in the foreseeable future as their students will not even work on my teeth through no fault of my own. I often see ads for how great NYU College of Dentistry implants is, but they don’t tell people that it will take years to actually get one if ever. The students pay hundreds of thousands of dollars for a dental degree at NYU and the school charges patients through insurance and private payments so they can practice but it treats the patients like dental training manikins. It takes weeks and sometimes months just to get an appointment and you have a bunch of follow-up appointments that could the rest of the semester to work on just one tooth. They take my blood pressure before starting a session, which has always been low as I exercise regularly and run 17-20 miles a week but all the damage they caused to my mouth required even more work than before and they wanted me to pay for the damage they caused. This resulted in a spike in blood pressure one time and asked me to leave and see a cardiologist which I did and after a battery of tests was told I was perfectly healthy. It's the first time to go to dentist in the US and I was kind of nervous but my students were very nice and gentle. And sane students are in charge always you go.(If they graduate then different student will be.) Usually a junior and a senior student are one pair. And it is appreciative price not like super expensive dentists. Treatments may take time since students give you the treatments mostly with supervised the dentist professor only at the beginning or the end so I recommend you if you can be patient and give them enough time. Just one thing, I went here for a filling treatment and I didn’t feel any pain at all and I didn’t know what kind of filling procedure they will give me. Then the senior student gave me TWO anesthesia shots which were UNNECESSARY!! I couldn’t tell my filling was good or not because of numbness around my teeth and mouth so I had to go back one more time to adjust on different day. My mouth was uncomfortable during the period. So it’s better you ask them every time BEFORE they do treatment for your teeth.日福米豪

I have been trying to get an appointment here for over 2 years. Each time I call, I am told different things and that's only if they pick up. I was told by their staff I was indeed a good fit for their disability dental clinic. I was told they don't take medicaid despite it saying it on their own website. When I pointed that out to the receptionist, she snapped at me about how that's not in her control. I was just letting you know so someone could take it off the website if its not true and then people wouldn't call and waste your time asking if you take medicaid. But to add on to that, another receptionist said you DO take medicaid. This place is very confusing and disorganized. I really needed your services and the crazy thing is, I still do! The longer it takes, the more afraid I will be of the dentist. I just wish if you weren't gonna help, You would've been upfront, honest and not let me suffer in pain for a return call that never came. I really had faith in you.Angel Baby

Honestly the school wasn't for me. To start off the administration is bad. They deal with situations without telling you which also they have no exact way of dealing with things no written form that tells you what happens if you get in trouble. They either charge you with a lot of money or you get kicked out. Also they have kept saying since 2014 that there will be a lot of new buildings when in fact there have been no updates. The freshmen building is awful. There is always trash everywhere and the floor are gross. Ones of the other buildings floods. There are few good things like the area and the people. Also they have a good bet tech and dental but that's about it. The other majors are not up to par. Also the Caf food. There are a lot of problems with the cafeteria at Mount Ida. The food package that they have is the lowest one you can get. The cheapest in other words. The food has hair in it sometimes and bugs. Also the forks and bowls are sometimes not clean. There have been protests by the students but they haven't done anything. Just wasn't for me. Hopefully my new college will give me a better experience.Nick Stanley

Really upset with the way they have handled my granddaughters housing. She was assigned to Shaw Hall then after getting settled she was forced to move to Wingate due to construction. She was told to be out several days before movers would be there to help. Down two flights of stairs and up three at Wingate. Still construction noise and vibrations at Wingate and no hot water for a few days and now no heat. Seems to be a lack of organization and concern for the students. Sure that many are away from home for the first time and these problems are making the adjustment difficult and I'm sure not helping with their studies. School is a scam. It isn't accredited, so I'm still paying off my full loans for nothing. And they're trying to get an additional 1,000 from me and apparently, "They don't know why money was refunded." If they don't know, I won't be paying. Especially if your tuition is 18,250, but your charges are 21,500. Get out of here with that. And the English and Orientation classes I took were a joke. The former being a book club- which I can join for free at my local library, and the latter which had a push over professor. There's lots of things wrong with this school.Wooper

Worst dentist office in America. If you can avoid this place please do. You will for a fact have the worst experience in your dental life. Andy Raddich is the director and can't seem to get his staff to return phone calls or even setup appointments that are needed in order to complete your service plan. This place took my money and have yet to complete my services its been over a year. The last chair is was in there the guy forgot to give me novacain, what dentist forgets to give his patients a numbing agent. There are alot better dental schools to use. I had a root canal here about 2 months ago. The doctor was very informative and kind. The experience wasn't exactly enjoyable but it could have been worse and what do you expect from a route canal procedure. Anyways I had to pay our of pocket since they don't accept mass health. It was my back tooth number 2 so I had to get an endodontic procedure. The total was $493.00 and as long as my tooth will benefit and survive through this them it will be worth it. Hoping for the best but overall a good hospital. The location isnt too far from the train station. Pretty nice interior design as well.Jared Thresher

I called emergency number on Sunday and waited til Tuesday for care and was disconnected twice over 6 phone calls trying to get seen for incredible tooth pain. Dr. Mujica is the most caring dentist I have ever been to. She explains every aspect of procedures and gives you honest advise, and answers every question with details and patience. Everyone in this office takes careful Covid precautions and make you feel safe! Post #2 I have now had a consultation with Dr Park and Dr. NIUSHA NIKKHOLGH. Both doctor's looked at my X-rays and did a few health checks of one of my back molars. The result, I will have a root canal soon, not the outcome that anyone wants to hear. During this process Dr. Mujica explained every detail that I needed to know about the procedure and excellent care that I will receive. In short, Dental Partners of Boston, every doctor cares about everyone who walks into their office. If your nervous about going to the dentist ( like I was) your anxiety level drops because of the amazing treatment plan you will receive! A few months ago I has a procedure for a dental implant. This is a procedure that I know very well, my brother-in-law Dr. Murry Awrach was a Periodontist for 40 years. Immediately, I knew I was in the best care with Dr. Guzman, he is a Diplomate in the field of Periodontics and husband of Dr. Mujica. The procedure was explained to me in careful details; bone-graph, followed by a post. Before the put the actual Titanium post in, Lisa, Dr. Guzman's assistant, took a Cat scan. This insures a perfect placement of the implant. After the scan, Dr. Guzman took time to explain to me what the procedure entailed. The scan was really interesting to view; the placement, spacing and where the nerves are located. This put me totally in a feeling of calm! And having Lisa, ( Dr. Guzman's assistant) also keeping me calm, Lisa! She is the BEST! This procedure went perfectly, my comment to Dr. Guzman, " You have gifted hand" Now to wait for approximately 3 months for the bone to grow around the Titanium implant. Once that is checked, I will have the tooth restoration completed with Dr. Mujica, as reported in my previous review, she is a total "Rock Star" dentist. I started going here because Dr Shiro Kamachi and it’s been several years now. I would highly recommend him and this practice overall. I’ve had a few different hygienists, Victoria being my current, and they have been great. It was my 1st visit ever to this practice. From the moment I walked in the door the receptionist was so unbelievably kind. She set the tone for how great my visit ahead would be. I was skeptical to try a new Dentist but am so glad I chose Arlington Smiles. I lost a filling and Dr. G took care of it. So started at Atlantic Dental. They were good then after the first 2 visits the price goes from $99 to $200 for a cleaning! More than double! Sure I was aware it was a "New Patient Special" But double?? Not even my cable company who we all love has the conscience to double their prices. Yikes! I now see it is a big chain. Explains a lot. I had an appointment. When I heard the new price, I walked out. Just No to that. Response to Management Response: Thank You so much for responding! very sorry I misswrote about you being a chain. My Bad. Now for the price. It was in fact quoted $200 for the visit, not $128. I was then offered a package if I paid UP FRONT for 2 visits at $257 it would then come down to $128. However I only wanted 1 VISIT and did not want to sign up for a plan. My plan was to go back to Fenway dental which is covered by insurance once they open back up fully. So the facts is it would have been $200terrence heinen

This location is convenient and the dentists and hygienists are fantastic. There are TVs that play Netflix to distract you if being in the dentist chair stresses you out (they play whatever you request). If you don’t have insurance they have an in house “plan” that is a great value (includes cleanings and one dental emergency for the year). I’ve been going here for a few years and my only issue has been with trying to use dental insurance. So, as long as you’re paying everything out of pocket this place is great! If you’re trying to use insurance be aware that you may have to follow up for months afterward without any call-backs to get reimbursed for things your insurance has covered. My experience with their billing department has put me off going back in the future. Edit: Dr. Elmaleh called to resolve billing issue so I am editing my review to 5 stars. It wouldn’t really make sense for me to say I “enjoyed“ my experience at the dentists office, however I have to say that I did. My appointment was on time, the receptionists were extremely friendly, the dental hygienist was very accommodating and professional,. She explained everything she was going to do and was checking my comfort level every step of the way. The facilities were impeccably clean with modern equipment and you could even watch TV if you wanted to. The dentist came in, he knew my history, addressed my questions and did not seem in any way rushed. This is the third time I visit Atlantic dental partners, and the quality of this experience inspired me to write a review. Full disclosure, I’ve worked with Dr. Morreale and the team at BCOH for over 30 yrs. But for the first time in all the years we’ve been helping patients with TMJ problems, I began having TMJ pain myself. It got progressively worse, to the point of waking in the middle of the night with searing pain. I thought my jaw had cracked or broken… Dr. Morreale helped relieve the symptoms immediately by having me wear an aqualizer to ease the pressure on my mandible. He then adjusted my bite which has slowly shifted over the years. The difference was dramatic and I am happy to say I have had no pain ever since. Thanks Dr. M!Laura Gjesteby

The staff has a delightful demeanor, giving off the feeling that they truly love what they do. I had the pleasure of getting my teeth cleaned by Erin and was given the best possible care I could imagine. She was entertaining yet professional and really allows you to understand the different procedures that she will go through over the course of your visit. I wasn’t sure what to expect from using a mouth appliance for my sleep apnea, but I was pleasantly surprised. Dr. Morreale and his staff were great. I was excited that I found a dentist in the area for myself, my husband & kids. I called because I had a question about my insurance but was instantly turned off by the extremely rude receptionist lady whom answered the phone. I gave her the benefit of the doubt thinking maybe she’s having a bad day. A few days later I came in and I instantly knew who I spoke to on the phone because she was tending to someone infront of me & treating them horribly & I recognized her voice. If any staff member asked her a question she would respond with a nasty attitude. If the phone rang, she was rude on the phone. If the person infront of me had a question for her, she would mumble in another language to a staff member (clearly not saying pleasent things.) By the time it was my turn in line she was also rude to me. I was so turned off by how this woman was treating everyone including myself that I made the decision to take my business elsewhere. I want to report this woman but not sure who I would go to as she’s the one who always answers the phone & working. She’s the older white woman who works the front desk. I started going to this place back in 2020. I had read all their reviews and said 300 people cannot be wrong about this place. Well, it turns out they are indeed a 5 star place. They are super nice. Very efficient. Speak multiple languages and a very warm atmosphere. I would say the manager, Sandra is one of the best people I have seen that runs an office and a very busy one. I have no idea how she remembers everything and they kept calling me to get my tooth taken care of after a root canal. They were wonderful to remind me that I needed a new crown or permanent filling. They truly care. I highly recommend this place. You will love Sandra and the rest of the lovely ladies that work there. They work with you too. They know how expensive dental work is they try and help. Their zoom whitening price was so much less than other places. They don't want to bankrupt you. This is sort of rare these days. I went today because I had an emergency and they were very accommodating. Dr. Ram took very good care of me, he took his time explaining the problem and presented multiple solutions. Once I had decided which way to go, Dr. Ram was excellent. He made sure I was comfortable at all times and explained everything as he was doing it. He is very knowledgeable and experienced. I felt completely comfortable in his hands. I am going to recommend American Dental to all my family and friends because of the excellent service I received. I simply can not say enough for this sensational dental practice. The entire staff could not have been more welcoming. They provide a super comfortable relaxed environment and are the MOST PROFESSIONAL available. I was new to the Boston area and a friend referred me to Dental Partners of Boston in the Prudential Center. The quality of service here is very good and I think all of the dental professionals are extremely thorough and committed to providing the best in dental care. My one issue is that I am generally waiting 10-15 minutes past my appointment time in the waiting room and then waiting an additional 10 minutes in the dental chair before I am seen by the dentist. I would encourage other patients to account for this especially if they are trying to get an appointment in before the work day begins. Other than that I really enjoy the dental services here and would continue to recommend this office to friends.Noelle Edwards

My dentist is skilled and very informed, it is unfortunate that I was told I needed dental work that wasn't entirely necessary. The office staff quoted me how much I would need to pay, I paid that amount, the procedure was performed, and then I was asked for 5 times the amount that I had already paid. I would not have gotten a crown replaced if I knew that the staff didn't check to see if I was eligible to be covered. If the procedure had been put off 6 months I would have been covered. The staff clearly doesn't care who pays, the insurance or the patient; I, however, do care and don't appreciate being conned into thousands in debt.Max Rice

Dr Kumi Kamachi has been my dentist for years and years. She is the absolute best in her field and even tops her husband, Dr Shiro and Dr Guzman, "the big guy" in charge. She is so observant of my needs – like when I am a bit fearful of a procedure. She knows just how to talk me down off the ledge and put me fully at ease so that whatever the procedure is, I am comfortable. With her tiny hands and big muscles, she is able to control her tools to perfection which brings amazing results. Given her affiliation with a major university dental school in Boston, she is always able to explain to me any new technique, procedure, tool or application in a way that is easily understood by my marketing / non-medical brain.Alicia Kullas

I was so impressed with everything/everyone at DPB! First, everyone was so nice, and worked to help me to feel comfortable. From J, at the reception desk to Lisa and Dr. Guzman. One of the best and most comfortable experinces at a dental office, I have ever had. The staff was excellent and made me feel at ease. The x-ray tech/dental assistant was great at her job and was able to get my first complete set of x-rays I have had in years. On top of everything else, the dentist I saw was very caring, and did a great job calming my fears. The exam was extensive and I left with a great looking smile. I am a diabetic and will need several surgeries because of bone loss in the next couple of years. Since being assigned to Dr. Wilkerson in June my experience at the dental school has been wonderful. I have witnessed how she leads with patient empathy and concern. She articulates procedures in layman's terms and follows up on surgical procedures, ensuring I am not having any discomfort. I am extremely grateful to be under her care. In my most recent visit I had my last wisdom tooth removed. In previous removals in private practices I have experienced extreme pain and discomfort. Oftentimes the tooth was broken midway through the procedure. As I sat in Dr. WILKERSon’s chair I began to have post-traumatic stress (this has been my dental experience that has caused me to not address my teeth for periods at a time). Dr. Wilkerson is one of the best periodontists I have met. The tooth had a large decay and was extremely deep. She took her time ensuring me it would not be painful. The overall removal was painless and took a total time of 10 minutes after I was numbed. The most impressive piece was not only did she extract the tooth in whole, but I didn't realize she had completed the process until she started cleaning the final ligaments. Dr. Wilkerson’s care and expertise is the best that I have experienced. Harvard has made an excellent choice in admitting her as a resident. She represents the school and herself in a professional, positive, thoughtful, and competent manner that transcends in every aspect of her life. When she leaves her residency at Harvard she will be missed. However, in my opinion, Dr. Wilkerson will be one of the top periodontists in the profession.Tracey Hathaway

The people who work in this office, from lobby personnel to physicians, everyone is polite and professional. My apt was scheduled for 10:45am-it was a simple jaw x-ray-but I arrived 5 minutes late because it was my first time visiting and it's located in a very busy district of Boston. So I walked in at 10:50am, gave them my name, signed a few electronic documents (again, it being my first visit), sat down, and at 10:53am I was called in. Had my x-ray done, explained a little about what they found, and I was walking out the door by 11:00am. The reason I'm aware of the times is because I couldn't believe things were moving this quickly and repeatedly checked my phone to see if a medical office could possibly be moving this quickly. And it was busy, on a Tuesday, there were at least 7 people in the waiting room, it's not like it was a slow day. They have this office running like a well oiled machine, with a lot of people who clearly enjoy where they work. I couldn't give a higher recommendation to a doctor's office.michael kelley

I've been using the Center as my primary provider of dental care for about 7 years. I go because the care is so so thorough. The dental students are fastidious. All of their work is reviewed by Harvard Dental School faculty. The students are also very gentle. If a problem needs to be escalated to someone with more training, they do that easily. A drawback is that visits take much longer than visits to dentists for whom throughput is an economic factor. So, to put this differently, think about what it would be like to go to a dental clinic where they can give you all the time you need. So, you're paying much less money for the most thorough care imaginable.David Weinberger
