20 Best Dental Assistant Programs In Kansas City, MO (2022 Updated)

Solid school. Easy(ish) to navigate. Some of the buildings are far apart and depending on your classes you might have only 10 minutes to go all the way across campus. The staff is friendly and try to help anyone navigate the school, so don't worry! Each building is clearly labeled and maps are everywhere so it's hard to get lost. There's tons of socializing areas and seating for different gatherings. Some of the popular places would be the courtyard with the fountains or the large hill in the center of campus. The campus also has a variety of food options, so whether you want smoothies, coffee, pizza, pastries or a salad there are options all around!Zena Krimzon

They have no idea how to teach what you will need in the state of Kansas. They will use other professors lectures and do not want to answer questions or teach you. So yeah if you want to teach yourself from a book and have a bunch of assignments due constantly this is the place for you. You will find yourself googling topics and watching YouTube videos to learn it. Multiple (at least 3 that I know of) people in my class complained to the chair.C

I am taking a welding certificate so I can work in the welding workforce. I want to work for the olathe railroad welding force after college. Then maybe do some underwater welding I have not quite decided. If I do I have to take a scubadiving class to get certified in that. After that I have to take a underwater course to get certified to do underwater welding but it will take me a while to doKelle Boehmer

It's hit or miss with the staff. I'm transferring about 60 credits in from elsewhere and just needed residential credits to graduate. I've been trying to get a degree audit since I started in March. I took 6 credits in the spring, am taking 3 now and 6 more in the fall. I can't get an answer as to whether I'm in need of any credits in any areas to graduate. I never had this problem at any school. When I asked for an audit, they told me, "You just completed your first semester with us. Transfer credits are posted after the students complete a semester with us. Look for those to show this Summer or next Fall." I already completed a semester. I'm on my last 2 classes. This should've been done by now. This is how people waste thousands of dollars on classes they don't need while still coming up short for their program. It's a bad policy, and they shouldn't do that. Update: I'm about 3 weeks from graduating. Taking classes on campus rather than online makes a huge difference in satisfaction levels. I'm changing my star rating because the teachers are pretty good. I'm still a little annoyed with how unresponsive the staff was while trying to get info together for my last semester of college, but it worked out. Three more weeks of class, and I'm blowing this popsicle stand. The school is what you pay for. Some things could definitely use some improvement. I had to pull out of my fifth class, which I didn't sign up for, 2 days too late to get a refund. I wasn't even aware that I was in it till I saw an email about late assignments. I paid the amount they requested after they said it was my fault, at which point they sent me a check for that same amount and then told me that I owed it to them again. It just seems to me as if the entire process is just overcomplicated. I was furious when they signed me up for a class without informing me. I got over it, but when your going to school with a GI bill you don't have the luxury to go back and forth with classes like that. I had explicitly told them that with work, school, and family I couldn't manage more than 4. My experience with the school other than that instance has been well. The instructors have been great and the classes have been educational. The buildings themselves are "rustic" but the staff works within those confines to create the best experience possible.Timothy Taylor

I went to this school after leaving from my four year college just to save my income and somehow, this school did helped me succeed easier after getting my Associate's Degree in Computer Engineering! Both main campus and the technical education center campus are welcoming regardless of what field you're studying for. Whether you prefer day courses, online courses, or night courses, the time and budget will be worth your time as long as you maintain things properly. The training I received at the school has served me well for the 40 years I have been in the military and in private practice. My training has been as good or better than docs from schools all over the country. I didn't know how well I was prepared until internship. I put my training up against interns from many MD and DO school and came out fine. I compete against docs from many school in my private practice and I have never been found wanting. My training was 40 years ago and it was great. I don't really know about the current training climate but I assume it is just as good as when I attended. This place had a very nice dorms and a lot of places for people to be able to get plant-based option foods including a whole foods that is right around the corner pretty much on campus. They're swimming pools pretty awesome too when it unfolds in the summer to let the sunlight in. They do have some pretty big lecture classes they told us but other than that the class sizes are supposed to be fairly reasonable. Campus was clean but had a bit of construction going on. I had a really good experience at Concorde. It changed my life a lot, I didn’t start at concorde first. I went to MCC just across the street from the campus and I honestly feel like it was a mistake to go there, feels like I wasted time and I did. I was going for the same career Medical Assistant and I was there for three years, not even learning the things I needed to become an MA. I loved that starting here I was learning and doing hands on. Which for me I learn best and I’m just glad where it has me now, I just finished externship and got offered a full time job where I’m at which is great. I felt like Rasmussen was very dishonest with me. I ended up leaving the school mid semester to pursue a job opportunity. Before deciding if I was going to finish the semester or leave in the middle I spoke with the advisor. I wanted to make sure i was not going to loose my Pell grants or have my loans returned. This was very important to me because I was moving for the job and taking on a lot of new expenses. I did not want to be hit up with a big balance that I needed to immediately pay to the school. She didn't know the answer when I first asked so she said she would check to find out on it. The next time I saw her she assured me that I would not have a balance due to the schools and the only thing I would have to worry about is paying my student loans when they become due. The director of the campus Jay even came out to say everything was taken care of and wished me luck in the future. A couple months later I started getting letters and emails saying I owe a balance to Rasmussen and that I need to pay before it is sent off to collections. I contacted Jay asking what could be done about this since I was told wrong information by him and the advisor. His response was "there is no way we would have told you that because we don't have that information. " then he asked me "what do you want me to do about it." I said I would would at least like to have more time before it's sent to collections. After we got done talking I felt like he was going to try and help me. A week later I got another call from their collections department saying I need to pay my balance and when they read the Jay's note he was basically just calling me a liar saying "they wouldn't have told me that." This whole time the school would never acknowledge that they made a mistake and were not very understanding or helpful in resolving it. Pretty disappointing.Justin Hicks

This school started off with great potential, but as the pandemic hit, it failed to take care of its students. My husband was a nursing student who worked extremely hard, but when in need of assistance, he was not met. Expecting students to retain information with no hands on experience nor a classroom environment, especially nursing students, is unacceptable. After being dismissed for failing a course, he inquired about returning. They informed him that he could not return for four quarters, but even if he did return, all of the nursing courses he took would be expired by that point. He would have to completely start over if he wanted to return. Almost two years of hard work was completely wasted with nothing to show for it. His professors were less than helpful, as was his advisor. He tried to appeal his dismissal, as he is a veteran who struggles with PTSD and learning completely online (not at all what he signed up for either) was extremely challenging for him. They denied his appeal and did not show any sort of understanding. Many of his classmates also struggled as well. I wish we would have gone a different route and not wasted so much time and money on this institution.Christine Paeth

Love this college. I am getting my degree after being away from school for a bit of time. From enrolling to engaging advisors and person willing to help with a smile on their faces, I didn't feel weird seeking help when needed. My advisor is exceptional as she was always there to shoot me a reminder about my classes, help me figure out financial and was able to explain to me m courses and the actions I need to take to finish. I know have a clear goal of what I need to do and even going to do when I graduate and the advisors are totally on board and helping me. I lost my mother and I couldn't just..do anything… My advisor gave options and was so helpful ..I was able to take a break and pick up right where I left off when I was ready to return. Overall I don't think I have the appropriate words to describe how much I love the college and those who work to help students each and every day. So if you think your too old to go back to school, think it will be hard, trying to find a school for … Take in consideration for Rasmussen.. with the advisors, and professors you are bound to achieve every goal you have educationally and career!!!!!teneisha coles

I filled out a new patient appointment request online and got a call back within an hour. They made the process so convenient! The moment I walked into the waiting room I couldn’t believe how relaxing the ambiance felt. Dr. Clark is the absolute best!!! Due to a traumatic experience as a child I have major anxiety when it comes to the dentist. I have seen many dentist and left without being able to have any work done because I was left to feel like my fears were ridiculous. Dr. Clark listened and made me feel completely comfortable. Today, Dr Clark worked on (3) cavities and repaired one chipped tooth – all in under an hour and WITHOUT AN OUNCE OF PAIN. I am generally terrified of having any level of work done on my teeth and, half way through today's procedure, I felt comfortable enough that I could have practically fallen asleep. I can not thank Dr Clark and his team enough for taking such good care of me today. A few months ago, my daughters (5yr + 9yr) really enjoyed their first routine cleaning experience with the Monarch team. We all look forward to being a part of the Monarch family for years to come! I get super nervous going to the dentist but everyone in that office including the receptionist make you feel comfortable and confident that you picked the perfect place. Great place, but their late policy is very strict! I called 3 minutes past my appointment time, explained I would be a little late. She said I had 10 minutes to be there. It takes 10 minutes to get there! I was almost there and she calls and says it’s past 10 minutes! You need to reschedule! Only 5 minutes away, but no, I have to reschedule. PLEASE I repeat DO NOT allow this dental office to provide you service. I scheduled a dentist appt for my fiancé here and I was told one price at the time of scheduling his appt but he was charged a whole other price after service was done. Once he shared the price he was charged with me I then called the Dr’s office the next morning to ask what that service charge was as if I were a random person calling for myself. I was still told a lesser amount than what he was charged just the day before. Neither the initial amount at the time of setting his appt nor the second amount I was told added up to what he was charged. After waiting over 20 minutes on hold finally speaking with a hygienist and then the Dentist about the issue nothing was resolved. No accountability nor empathy was shown. I decided I would then cancel my appt for the week and not have any further dealings with this office. I was told my fiancé could not be refunded the difference for what he was overcharged for. The staff here is always so polite, trying to help me out when possible and taking my needs into account. The hygenists are always very pleasant and do a good job when cleaning my teeth. There are also many options for polish flavor too! 🙂 Dr. Ledford himself is a fantastic dentist. He is familiar with all of his patients and tells you what you need to know, but with a tactful "bedside manner." Yet he also tries to find solutions that will work for you if you are unable to pursue treatment at that time, due to insurance, finances or whatever. He has only scolded me once, and I fully deserved it, because I hadn't been to the dentist in a while. I fully recommend this dentist office to all my friends and family. I have suffered from numerous broken and neglected teeth over the years. Because of difficult experiences in my youth, I have often tried to avoid going to the dentist. This was a bad strategy. One day it all caught up with me. Fortunately, my insurance carrier directed me to Dr. William D. Ledford. He and his staff are gifted dental care providers and they have made a tough situation bearable. They have done this without making me feel bad for ignoring my teeth. Whether you are high school age and are just beginning your foray into the healthcare field, or you have much life experience in your 60s and want a new direction, you will find your stride here. The students here come from all walks of life, and my class was VERY diverse in experiences, you will find yourself amongst comrades once you begin your journey. I took the CNA accelerated course, which seemed intimidating at first glance, but if you can afford it, is a great investment, especially with all the added equipment you receive for the course later on for lab. Honestly, I can't imagine going at any other pace. Mrs. Omare is an instructor with integrity and humor and will make sure you don't go to the floor unprepared. In fact, you might go in more prepared than the ones who are already there, but that essay would take up more than this review space can handle. There's a good reason for all the five star reviews (Believe it or not, no one is co-erced to write the glowing reviews. We just like it that much) and her staff Tecla and Ren, are very nice in helping you make sure you're ready to go. So go sign up! This school is awesome! If I could give it more stars I would. I got my CNA certification here. I took the 2 week accelerated CNA course with Mrs. Omare. I thought it would be overwhelming, but it was not. It is a very thorough, well organized class. If you do the work and ask questions you will do well. Mrs. Omare was an excellent instructor. She is very knowledgeable, patient, kind, firm, but fair. What I like the most about the lectures is that every style of learning is incorporated whether visual, auditory, kinesthetic, ect. Also, I really enjoyed lab times which were VERY hands-on. We would take what we learned in the classroom and actually perform the skills in the lab. Labs really brought everything together. We also had clinicals where we go to nursing homes and work with actual residents. This was a very valuable experience because again we were able to use the skills we learned to assist the residents in our care. Clinicals really built my confidence. I recently got hired at an Assisted Living facility and I was so well trained by this class, that the only training I need is learning facility policies, procedures and resident routines. Mid america college of health sciences is best college where they teach us very well and the most unique thing is the practical we go to clinical and perform tasks which is really very beneficial for students because they will know everything that they need to before even working as a CNAs. An exceptional experience every time. Dr. Dunning and his staff are kind and take the time to explain the diagnosis and walk through the treatment before and during the procedure; no surprises. I have anxiety going to the dentist and mostly due to shots. I’ve never felt a single shot from Dr. Dunning and I’ve had a couple now with the same experience each time. It’s a special gift he has and there’s no more anxiety because nothing hurts. Does your dentist call you 24 hrs after putting a crown on even when it’s Saturday evening? I just missed a call, from Dr. Dunning himself, it’s Saturday evening and he was following up to see how I’m doing. He left some suggestions and over the counter medication recommendations just in case I was a little swollen or sore. Dr. Dunning and the wonderful staff deserve the very best. First Review I have ever left. Lifetime Dental and Dr. Dunning are hands down the best Dental Office in Belton, Kansas City and Missouri! Why? 1. Customer Service: The girls running the show are knowledgeable, helpful, and the best in the business. I called for a emergency two hours before they opened,… they answered the phone!!! and took care of my family! (I called several other Dental agencies that advertised emergency services, got nowhere!) 2. Emergency Service: My son who had a other dental office broke a front tooth to the root. I have been going to Dr Dunning and his fabulous staff for years. They are always friendly, helpful, and respectful. There's no overselling of additional products or services. Dr Dunning focuses on doing what's right for your health and comfort. I've had only two times over the years where I had to wait in the lobby longer than expected for my cleaning but that's because they received last minute emergency requests. I don't mind waiting for my cleaning for someone that's possibly in a lot of pain and it helps ease my mind knowing I'll get the same priority treatment if I'm ever in the same situation.Jessica Gunter

I went to Clear Choice yesterday for dental implants. I feel blessed to have had Dr. Camarata do my work. He's very easy to talk to, very nice to be around, very friendly and made me feel extremely comfortable. Well…as comfortable as you can in a dentist's chair!…LOL! Seriously, Dr. Camarata is beyond THE BEST. Natalie is his assistant and she couldn't have been better. She treated me from start to finish with the same tender care as if I had been her Grandmother. I don't know what she's paid…but it's not what she's worth. Come on guys…double her salary…and double Andrea's too…she follows up on me and if I am the least bit uncomfortable she offers two ways to make me feel better. I definitely recommend Clear Choice because of their staff …starting with Dani in (I guess marketing…). Staff is friendly, efficient, and customer (patient) focused. I went in believing I needed 2 implants but doctor quickly ruled that out, cutting my expenses by half. I have an almost 2 hour drive to get to the Clear Choice offices in Kansas City. I was grateful that they were able to do x-rays, evaluation, set up payment plan (easy process with flexibility and choices to fit my budget), take impressions, photos and all work necessary to prepare me for step one of the implant process on my next visit. I appreciate not having to make extra trips. 🙂 The doctors have a packed schedule and I appreciate being notified of a cancelation so they could put me in for appointment #2 at a time that works perfectly with my schedule. Very happy with my decision to use Clear Choice so far. Looking forward to seeing if the rest of this process is as smooth. They only do implants–nothing else. The communication prior to the surgical appointment with the care/transportation provider was non existent. I was told two separate times I just needed to be available for drop off and pick up of the patient. Upon arrival surgery day I was told I had to stay the entire time. I was told that was to ensure the patient was walked to the bathroom etc. Was told at the initial consult that all required codes for insurance processing would be provided. Day of surgery I am told that not all requested information would be done. Very Poor communication in my opinion. When you have to make the plans to travel hours to get to the location it would be nice to be able to arrive knowing what is going on.Carol Zeitvogel

Dr. Luff and her team are nothing short of amazing, there is a reason Luff dental has almost 100 reviews and still has 5 stars. No need to keep searching, this is THE dentist office you want to come to for you and your family. I recently was searching for a new dentist and found them and so glad that I did. Dr. Luff is very knowledgeable and explained every step as she was performing them, taking any anxiety away from the situation and educating me through it, and also made sure I was comfortable the entire time, best experience getting cavities filled hands down. As usual I had an excellent session for a small filling and regular cleaning. This visit I asked if Weimer Dental would donate some dental care kits to a womens' shelter near my house, Christine's Place at 5102 Independence Ave. They weren't able to provide kits in plastic cases like they give to patients but Brenda, a dental assistant there, put together a boxful of kits in bags to be donated to the shelter. They were very grateful for the kits as they will go to women who have little time or money for such supplies.William Travers

Always great when it Dr. Weimer's practice and I have high hopes for the new dentist, Dr. Flores, knowing that Dr. Weimer gave him such good accolades. The 4 stars is my way of holding my opinion until I've been with this new group a little while longer. Today I saw just a technician to do an adjustment on a new mouth guard and she was lovely; very helpful guidance and patient with all my questions.CmBower

WEIMER Dental is the best dentist I have ever been to. Cheryl at the front desk is always friendly and gets me checked in quickly. Brenda is the dental hygienist and she is always thorough and makes sure you understand what is happening. I had a cleaning procedure. I'm a chronic patient, who has been treated by this office for the last 13 years. As a rule, I come to appointment with some apprehensions (almost naked roots!) – I leave office quite satisfied. My hygienist was Kristy. She has done an excellent and painless job. I had the best visit – the dentist did my cleaning! I had messed up my appt time and they were kind to explore fitting me in if someone didn’t show. Dr. Tabakh was available and said she would clean my teeth. She is so very kind and went above to care for me. I came in to have a redone root canal checked, and since they know I can't do a complete redo of a bridge till another year's insurance kicks in in February, Dr. Tabakh fashioned a couple temporary crowns in the meantime, crowns which look better than my previous bridge. Very pleased!Joe Blattert

When we moved back to Kansas City, finding a quality dentist was really important to us. We are so fortunate that we found Dr. Lee because she is exceptional. Dr. Lee and her staff always listen and are personally concerned about you as a patient. It took me almost a year to write this. Originally, I wanted to write a raving review after our first experience. However, I held out because I really wanted to be able to leave an honest review of multiple experiences, not just the initial one. We drive roughly 2 hours to this dentist for both cleanings and orthodontics. We originally were seeing a small, local dentist. Parents were unable to go back with their children, and the dentist would walk the child back to the front desk when done, where the dentist would tell the front desk what they did, and when to book the next appointment. There was no time for questions, and it made us feel out of the loop when it came to our children. After 11 years of being uncomfortable, we decided to check into another dentist. I searched for days, reading reviews, and decided to make an appointment here. The first appointment was excellent. While sitting in the lobby I watched the women behind the desk welcome everyone, and even come out and ask about their job or how summer went. She would address everyone by their name, and she befriended everyone. I still see this same behavior every appointment and always impressed that everyone who comes in receives the same treatment. During the appointment we were allowed to go back with our child, and were informed of everything that was happening. But more importantly, so was our child. They told him what they were going to do, why they were doing, and what to expect. They would always ask “is that ok? Or does that sound ok? Or do you have any questions?” I was thoroughly impressed with the fact that they prioritized communication with both of us. A year later and I still see this same level of communication. Before this, I really just thought “well, this is how all dentist are”. But, it’s not. If you’re struggling to find your child a dentist or orthodontist, know that you’re not alone, and that good dentist and orthodontist are out there. And this is one of them. The only thing I would have done differently is come a little sooner.Danielle Knapp

I can’t say enough good things about this place! My son had a severe under bite but once his adult teeth started coming in it half self corrected-his teeth were a mess. We started 2 years ago with a retainer to help with crowding and moving his jaw and then there was a waiting period so enough baby teeth could come out and today he got his braces on and I’ve never seen him more excited! We had to switch dentists a little while ago because our dentist retired and I am so glad that he recommended KC Braces + Kids. Every doctor and dental hygienist at this practice have been absolutely amazing with both of my kids, especially with our son who is on the spectrum. I want to preface with I am terrified of the dentist. It is the most cringy self care you could get! I always have terrible anxiety and shake like a chihuahua in the chair lol. So that being said, this is hands down the BEST dentist I have ever been to. Everybody was so nice and personable, I had an infected molar that needed extraction and they went above and beyond to ensure my comfort throughout the process. They offered water, pillows, a blanket and were so so wonderful overall getting this painful tooth out. I was terrified of post-op pain being that my last extraction from another dentist was unimaginably painful, nothing like I’ve ever experienced. I am so glad and thankful to say that I am in NO pain what so ever other than very slight soreness when I open my mouth too wide. I honestly fell in love with this office and hope that they are in my network with my new insurance. No other office or doctor/assistants could compare! If you’re looking for work to be done, you gotta do yourself a favor and come here!Rhianon Renee

So thankful I scheduled with this office it was such a great experience. This is not your average dental office and Staff. Amy the hygienist was very professional yet made you feel so comfortable. She was very good at explaining everything I needed to know and what to do to start implementing the correct oral care. Dr. Koehn was great, he took the time to come up with a dental plan to achieve where I wanted to be at the end of my journey. I didn’t feel as though they had to get me in and out within a certain timeline and that was refreshing. The reason I say this isn’t your average dental office is they provide so much more than just dental work (make sure you check out their website, I wish I had before going or I would have scheduled more “dental” work (wink wink) to be done (the hubby doesn’t have to know). I’ve got it scheduled for my next appointment and I’m so excited! Office staff is very personable and gives you the over all feel goods when leaving. I can’t say enough times how much I appreciate the Gordon Dental family. I’ve been seeing them for the last three years for general and cosmetic work. Everyone at the office is so nice and helpful and always willing to work with/around your schedule. Dr Gordon and Dr John worked on my implant a year ago and I couldn’t be more happier with. I’ve been recently working with Kelcie recently for my Invisalign / aligners and she has been so helpful insightful walking me through the entire process and making sure I’m happy with the outcome not to mention patient because I have been asking for small tweaks. The entire staff are just so friendly and welcoming. I wouldn’t recommend any other dentist.
