Prism Career Institute Philadelphia Campus LPN program PN 38 Started in Nov 2018 Graduate in March 2020 Day Pilot Program I went to Aria RN program but left when I had my son. The Prism program reminds me of Aria's RN program in it's quality. I think it's even better because of how much the teachers care and come from an understanding perspective. From the DON to the teachers, us students are regarded as unique individuals with the potential of becoming quality nurses. We're treated with the utmost respect and taken seriously. How kind and helpful the teachers are encourages us to study harder. The program is accredited and will be for couple more years (confirm before you join any program). The clinical instructors are very helpful. A few may need to brush up on the exact protocol but other than that a lot of the instructors are very knowledgeable, relaxed, caring and welcome questions to enhance our learning. They do not look for reasons to fail students. The simulation lab helps you to further learn nursing skills and is done in a way where privacy is upheld (other students and teachers are not privy to what you have done in the sim lab). The practice dummy has simulated breath sounds, vital signs etc. to help create life like events seen on clinical floors. The guidance counselors help you tremendously in finding jobs and guiding you to a RN program. Some negatives include the bathrooms being messy time to time. Students can come off rowdy, unprofessional and immature. But sitting in the front can avoid any issues with students who talk during lecture time. Some days I do find classes starting really late due to teacher's unpreparedness. Selection of where we do clinicals need to be improved. Few of the clinical sites were a little gut wrenching but at least the clinical instructors made it tolerable. If you are trying to decide between the LPN and RN program let the TEAS exam decide for you. If you scored just enough for the LPN program definitely pick the Prism program especially if it's close to you and affordable. This can be the stepping stone in the health field for you that you need.Laya Thomas

This school’s zoom teaching during the pandemic has been a complete mess! This place gets you to the last semester and fails people over and over because they weren’t prepared from the second semester! I feel very sorry four the students that go here because teaching on zoom and working on manaquins is not a proper way to train a nurse. Without hands-on in person clinical it’s very difficult for the students to grasp the concepts. The teaching of the nursing courses Is actually done by reading power points to them and that’s it! There’s no helpful Counseling on how to get through these tests there’s no guidance! I can’t understand why they can’t look at the test that they’re giving and give test prep questions on their subjects but the teacher said that requires her to do more work and she’s not doing it ! She said and I quote it’s time for all of you to get off the training wheels! What kind of support person trying to get students through a pandemic teaching situation would talk to them Like that! tutoring consist of the exact same thing zoom classes making you bring to them what you don’t understand instead of them helping you grasp the concepts of the things that you are failing! Person after person keeps saying I’m failing and failing and failing and they’re doing nothing but collecting money hoping for the next semester to come along and they can collect more money but not change anything ! these reviews on this site are serious issues that need to be addressed. I feel duped I’m sure most of the other students Do too! this was a total letdown I understand the pandemic closed for different schooling situations but my God reading from a PowerPoint is not teaching! Yes anybody could do that my 15-year-old daughter could do that! There’s a difference between the nurse and the nurse teacher. Plus the state seems to randomly show up a lot! I have experienced observing and hearing students in the community also read some of the reviews which are subjective, To obtain true thorough reviews The Main Question is what is the passing percentage of the students who complete and graduate along with what is the percentage for passing the State Boards. If the percentage is low then the focus is the teachers and course format, itinerary. Students that I had observed, and overheard their frustrations appear to be with the faculty. Labeled as poor teaching methods, and knowledge is limited, they just read from "book" along with having a personality of a friend, street affect when speaking, or answering a question, and is probably because the teacher wants to be friendly, liked , but that is not a professional way. So additional questions for a true review, Is the State monitoring close not only the format of course, but is what is written and accredited being implemented through thorough teaching, mentoring, etc. . Remember any course, program, etc. is considered a Great, Successful, Recommendable, etc. is those who excel with high student success , achievements……not low passing percentages and low drop out rates. Also, If the school has low success outcomes I would assume the State would place more attention to ensure full correct accreditation, which is another question, how many times does the State do an on site check and if there are trends, is the Plan of Correction not only submitted by school, but is is implemented by school to ensure success and increase of achieved outcomes of goals . So reviews are superficial, and for a career choice ensure you obtain the facts for the program, of career course. My experience was amazing My instructor Sabrina was the best! Especially explaining vein placement as well as how to best care for a patient and one’s safety. Everyone thinks 3 DAYS! Sabrina was an amazing instructor who teaches with a lot of personalized one on one education. She taught the content thoroughly and in a way that it sticks with the students. She is also great at instilling confidence while everyone is admittingly nervous about their first blood draws. My instructor was Sabrina and she was amazing. The content was interesting and applicable to the training. There was never a dull moment in class and we all formed a cool friendship. Once they have your money they do not care how you are treated. The LPN clinical instructor Lisa Martinez is very disrespectful and racist. She makes jokes and disrespectful remarks that targets black Woman. Clinical is held towards the last two weeks of the program and is located at a nursing home. The beginning of her class she brought up having ladies removed from the program every month and that alone was a red flag once she started laughing about how the ladies hate her. I also started to notice how she talks aggressive, loud and easily became a bully. The program is $1,500 and no one seems to care about how often they remove students due to Lisa’s foul behavior. I enjoyed my experience at CareBridge Academy. Every class from the first to last day was very engaging, there was a great balance of book work and hands on experience. Ms. Lori was an awesome instructor, she made sure we understood the lessons, giving each of us undivided attention while performing procedures to ensure we were doing them properly. I had a great learning experience with Nurse Teel. She was very knowledgeable and I enjoyed every second of the program. Also, before joining the program Nyah helped me with any question I had, she was very informative. Most of the teachers are extremely friendly and pretty chill with students. Especially Mrs.Mcgrew (best teacher ever) The gym is pretty cold in the winter and the cafeteria food is pretty bad. Not to mention you can't bring your own food. Most of the students are very nice. The administrators do not play around with dimerites. The Shops are great! You get to choose what you want to do and visit the shop before you make your choice. The hallways are a little crowded but most teachers will let you slide if they see your a minute or two late and out of breath. They do help you learn a lot of useful things most high schools don't consider teaching. There are plenty of clubs and sports you can do as well. It's a small school so rumors do get around pretty quickly, my advice, just don't get involved in any drama and you'll be fine. Everyone respects you for who you are despite race,gender,ethnicity,religion ex. They don't give a lot of homework. I attended and completed the CNA class last year with Ms.Pat (the owner/our instructor). I learned so much and could not have had a better experience!. Ms. Pat made sure the class well rounded in everything we needed to become working professionals, as well as good people. I loved getting to know Ms. Pat on a personal level, she was funny and upbeat. She always built me up and made me feel confident in all my decisions inside and outside the classroom. I also attended the phlebotomy class here. I then attended a class here for my certification in CPR and First Aide. It’s amazing to have all these certifications and licenses in the health field and that is all thanks to A1 Allied and specifically Ms. Pat. I wish I could give this 10000000 stars. I completed the CNA program back in May. Listen to me when I tell you, Ms. Pat is the best out there! She is the type of instructor who educates you, but doesn’t bore you. She makes sure you know everything you need to know, but she doesn’t baby you. I aced her class, and passed both of my state exams on the first go. Working in the field, I have met a couple of people who know her. She is very widely known and respected. This school will only allow you to transfer 36 units in, they could care less about all the hard work that you've done in previous schools. This is designed so they can make you take more of their classes, thus bringing in more money for the school. They are just another business with no concern or consideration for you as a person, you're just a number to them The food in the cafeteria is extremely high, you would think with all the money that they make from you taking additional classes and funding they receive they would lower their food prices for their students. Every classmate I've spoken to tries to bring their own food now. Ex; One banana is almost three times that of in the store or at Wawa, cups of coffee are marked up (really?). You couldnt offer a cup of coffee to the students at a discount? And the majority of food offered is not healthy but fat foods: candies, cookies, sweet rolls, pretzels, muffins, every type of Danish, puddings. If you want a salad plan on paying an astronomical amount for it Speaking of coffee, if you have to go to the restroom, learn to squat because they are too cheap to buy any toilet covers for their seats. I'm from out of state and I have never seen a school not offer covers to their students either that or if your female prepare to be dedicating five minutes of your time to lacing the toilet with toilet paper. It's truly ridiculous, are we in kindergarten or are we adults now? There are no bulletin boards for students to put any personal or academic information up, such as : advertising tutoring services, rooms for rent , organizations or program, etc. Other colleges that I've gone to have them located throughout their schools and in prime location such as libraries, cafeteria. main hallways etc. I have not been able to see or find any so far The tech walls are plain it would be nice to see some pictures of some of the great inventors up but they have nothing. It feels empty and boring with no inspirational pictures throughout the campus at all.Julie Yu

This school is not set up for student success! This is a Business and they operate just like a Business. Once they get your money they don’t care if you like the service they provide or not. You can complain until your BLUE in the face. Especially students who are PRE NURSING STUDENTS. They know that NURSING is a booming field. And they put you in these Anatomy and Philosophy 1&2 course without even having Bio 100/110 as a prerequisite. Half of the administration has NEVER taken these classes or it has been 20 plus years since they have taken this course. And they have an expectation of the STUDENTS but they have never sat throughout this course. Crazy right! In addition when you complain about the teachers they look at you like YOUR THE PROBLEM! They pretend to look into things THEY DONT! Trust me! They will always side with their teacher. Their attitude is YOU SHOULD BE GRATEFUL FOR WHAT YOU GET HERE because at a 4 year university you won’t get that.SO TAKE WHAT YOU CAN GET. And the teachers can suck. They do not care. Especially the n their BIO COURSES they have maybe 2-3 teachers who have GREAT RATINGS! The rest are TERRIBLE. And year after year THEY CONTINUE TO COME TO DCCC AND they are ALLOWED TO not teach properly, decide what type of help they want to give students and they will FAIL you with no regards that they are messing up your transcript and chances of getting into a decent NURSING PROGRAM. This how you know its a business .C B

DCCC's Upper Darby location is great because of it's convenient location behind the shopping plaza and the trolley station across the street! Marple doesn't this luxury (but does have a bus stop, obviously) and the snacks and other food sold at Marple is sooooo expensive when the food sold in the Upper Darby campus' nearby stores are much cheaper! Miss Sara at financial aid is such a sweetheart and the same can be said about the rest of the staff and even the security guards are friendly. Plus, depending on where you live, it's quicker to get to than Marple. I only rate three stars because Mr. Bill at the learning commons is a pain in the ass. He's quick to tell other students to be quiet or to lower their voice when students are holding a conversation but most of the time when he's talking to someone himself he's louder than we are and it's so freakin' irritating! So if it can be avoided, avoid the learning commons when he's there and if you have to be there when he is just don't talk at all unless you absolutely have to. My other cons are that the campus itself is so small and wish it at least had a second floor, and the Macs that are against the wall can be uncomfortable to sit at. Also, having more advisors and financial aid people wouldn't hurt either.Fran

The trainings are incredible, detail oriented-no one left behind. I have experienced some thorough professionals that happen to be instructors. I'm in month#3 of a 5 month training for Registered Behavior Health Technician with a perfect 100% average I am also and have been in college for Behavioral Health for 2 years now with 27 credits;currently I attend 2 schools. I am a Marine Veteran as well;I'm a proud citizen- I've run for public office-hell I even volunteered for O'Bama's campaign- and truly value the constitution and my civil rights.During todays instruction mt instructor Michelle Kerr-Spry started talking about while badgering our elected president Donald Trump-talking about how she would verbally cuss someones mother out if they ever talked positively about Donald Trump-I put on my TRUMP hat and she had the audacity to instruct me to remove my hat. First of all-I'm in my own home-secondly I'm an american citizen with rights-I care not what candidate you or anyone endorses-I'm in school to learn Behavioral Health and not political science. I am appalled and insulted-how dare she even think that she can request I take my hat off-It's only a hat-c'mon man-I am requesting that she verbally apologize and recant her statement to my entire class and explain how wrong her actions were-and not ever go out of her way to hinder or jeopardize my education as I now expect retaliation for my complaining about this reprehensible behavior. I have not had a good experience with them. I have been a fair share member since 2012. They have been taking about $50+ out of my check once a month since 2012. I spoke to a lady in June of this year(2017) that is my "contact" for the union for the first time ever and she asked me if I just started. Like, really?! 5 year, I have been here 5 years. They cancelled mine and my family members health insurance without contacting me at all. When I call them I get the run around, never any real answers if they respond to my calls at all. If you are this union and it works for you, that's great. Kudos to you, but for me they absolutely suck.Miranda Massey

Please do not waste your time with scam artists looking to make a quick buck off young people wanting to start a career on the basis of helping others. This program will not be completed, they will not certify you regardless of how long your enrollment is dragged on. There are so many people waiting on their state exam from this school who started over 5 months ago (4 weeks is a joke and so is the fact that they are still advertising it as such) because the program is run by people who act as if they believe laws don't apply to them. Communication is very literally zero barring a legal threat, they tell different students different things, try to bully and intimidate anyone who speaks up about their blatant lies and disrespect, and their "lab" (before clinicals, which still have not happened 5 months in) was the most uninformative waste of time I've ever experienced, short of all attempted email and phone conversations with the director. Save yourself the time, effort, and stress- find somewhere reputable. My classmates and I saw the low reviews and ignored them from desperation to start a course, PLEASE do not make the same mistake. There are other programs, this is NOT an option. With how many pending complaints against them they have, I would strongly consider the probable longevity of the programs existence before enrolling if nothing else has swayed you.Hope Geiter

I attended PANAT December 2019 – January 2020, & I have no regrets. We had hands on training sessions, we got Test on a regular basis to make sure that we understood what was being taught, our main instructor Miss Kathy was patient with us, & all the other instructors was also great. I am also CPR Certified, because that was a part of the course, we was required to do clinical & our teachers was there with us each day to make sure that everything went well at the nursing home. PANAT sent off all our documents to Pearson Vue & gave us the information to set our date, my exams date was initially set for March 2020 but due to Covid19 I had to reschedule & didnt get a date until November 2020. All in all I am excited, because I am a Certified CNA & the only training I got was from PANAT & I just studied my books, practice my skills, listen to the instructors & did what they taught me! I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who is serious about become a CNA & is ready to put in the work that is required!Kaye Foster-King

THIS PROGRAM IS A SCAM!!!! I’ve paid $1,300 for this program, completed the program , and still have yet to take my State Boards. I took the 8 hour course Trump passed for TEMP NURSING AIDES and presented that to them. Ms. Pearson and myself have communicated by email NUMEROUS of times concerning using my hours from 2 Different Long term Nursing Homes, towards my clinicals. Ms. Pearson has requested Both places of employment, and stated in the last email back in Jan 3,2020 that my Roster was up, and my name were submitted already; I have YET to hear ANYTHING! “ Your roster was submitted last Thursday to Pearson/Vue you should be receive an email from them over the next few days. This place is HORRIBLE. The only good thing about this place are the programs. I use to work here for 3 years, was always sexually harassed to the point that a coworker forcefully kissed me and HR didn't care one bit. SOME not all students were out of control. Not even going to go into detail about student and staff relationships. Countless of times I had to get up from my desk and walk certain students to their trade class because some staff members made them feel "uncomfortable". Some women students AWOLed out because they were being hunted and harassed by staff and they couldn't take it anymore. If a student had a learning disability, they would reject them. Because they believe that those type of students wouldn't make it through the program and they can't risk their retention getting worst than it is. Many times the center director made me put in fake wellness leaves so they could "save" students that are about to get kicked out. And he would sign off on fake doctor notes to save student retention. And I have done 70% to 80% work for the old CTT manager it was insane. Red flags all around. I would not recommend this place to no one. Please parents do not sign your child up here, they deserve much more that being bullied, harrassed and belittled. Please note that this is a BUSINESS and not a SCHOOL. I rather you to spend 2k to 6k on a tech college than here. Or consider Willimington DE or Pittsburgh PA campus. They have great programs. Environment is that of a prison. Most of the staff but not all have really off putting deamoners as well as attitudes. They are vague in what this particular facility can offer. They show that they are not knowledgeable in the Trades they offer and can not give notable advice onto what can further your education advancement individually! The Security are on a whole other complete level of horrid. You can very well tell that they are there for the paycheck and nothing more and they are the paramount of ignorance. Completely RUDE. My advice is to get eveything in writing because if you speak to different people(staff/counselors) you can note the staff are not on one accord and they all go against what each other says. I would go to say this place is similar to that of "Public" school. In all ways. They are there for their paycheck at the expense of you trying to better yourself. If it wasn't for the teachers I would've gave this Job Corps location a 1Star. They do interviews to see how dedicated and determined you are and i don't see how half of these KIDS were accepted into this program. THE KIDS are the ones who make this program look BAD!!! They are disrespectful indoors and outdoors. I was enrolled in the CNA course. I started the program in March or April, I was supposed to go upstairs in June but it was too crowded and they said the nursing course was on hold. Then they told me I had to wait until Sept, I wasn't having it so I left because they kept giving me FALSE information and my counselor didn't know much. We went on trips and the students acted as if they were in the fifth grade and didn't get out much. I really felt bad for leaving because in my interview I expressed to the center director and everyone on the board how determined and ready I was but that place just WAS NOT for me.Syerra Hook
