20 Best Cna Programs In Minneapolis, MN (2022 Updated)

So you want to be a chiropractor… While morally rewarding there are several key reasons I’d persuade new students from going the route of chiropractic. Don’t get me wrong, I love chiropractic, but from a financial standpoint, it’s a major disaster. Before getting any degree, look up what the average professional earns in the said field. That number, let’s say $80,000 (the average in MN) shouldn’t be more than what you need to take out in student loans to get the degree (with hopes of paying them back in a reasonable amount of time anyways). Currently the price tag of a chiropractic degree is in the realm of 156,000 without any living expenses. Add in your undergraduate degree and you are right at about 200k or so. Fiscally the numbers don’t add up. (Something I wish had told me prior to going to school). Now there will be people telling you, don’t worry about the cost, everyone pays them back just fine because there are programs for dismissal after 20yrs etc… and income based repayment… whatever. However keep in mind that those student loans, will be on your credit report, and despite the amount you pay on income based repayment, banks will be required to use the actual amount you’re supposed to be paying when determining whether you can get a mortgage on a house. So just be prepared to have to rent for a long time. The other problem I have with chiropractic, is that chiropractors are notoriously bad payers. To make decent money in the profession, you really need to own your own clinic. Most associate positions had a base pay of 30-50k and rarely pay over 60 with bonuses And no benefits. You have to be prepared for 40-50 hours a week of work plus lots of marketing outside of work hours. Same goes for if you own your own clinic too hours wise. Now if you can pay cash for your degree, by all means go out and do it. It’s a phenomenal profession to be in. The body can do amazing things to heal itself without medical intervention or drugs/surgery and helps a lot of people. However, for your own financial security and stress, there are tons of other professions, particularly ones you can do with just a 4-year degree that pay better that can be just as rewarding. Unfortunately, if you have to take out more than $100k in student loans, chiropractic is a bad choice. Right now, most students take between 170-240k for chiro degrees at northwestern. It’s too late for them, but do some soul searching… do you want to have student debt for the next 25 years that prevents you from getting a mortgage And makes life more difficult. I guarantee you, there my experience and feelings about the financial burden is not unique. Most of the chiros I graduated with no longer practice and a common theme being regret of going to chiro school. Avoid the biggest financial disaster of your life. Getting this doctor title isn’t financially worth it. To be honest, I’m surprised there hasn’t been a class action lawsuit on this for profit school yet. There is supposed to be a positive return on investment, not a lifetime of debt you’ll never pay off without loan forgiveness programs. (25yrs before you qualify) So before you decide, Google what a chiropractor makes in a year where you want to practice. It’s despairingly low for the cost of the degree.Dan Joseph

Wish I could've given it no stars. But one star will definitely work. The school is overpriced for what it has to offer. I don't believe you should have to pay $100,000 to learn a skill that can be taught for way less. Not to mention if you take on the program you have to take a loan out for living expenses. So it'll probably cost around $200,000 when it is all said and done. The program does not give you enough business and hands-on experience to be successful as a chiropractor. They say their science-based curriculum will help you when you get out in the field. Sadly enough that is not true. I've talked to numerous chiropractors who have went to that school, and have been dissatisfied about the information they learned. My advice if you're going to pursue a chiropractic education probably wait 10 years. How much you were going to make coming out of school will not even pay off the loans in 10 years.Nick Ciliberti

I started my online program two years ago at Alex Tech in Paralegal and Legal Administration. I was leery at first of the quality of education an online degree could provide. Alex Tech sets up their legal program so that you graduate with two associate's degrees, Paralegal and Legal Administration, in the two year time frame. The professors for both the legal program and the elective classes are quick to reply to questions. The online program provides flexibility that allowed me to work full time while going to school. I don't think it matters what your situation is, I would highly recommend the program to anyone.Rachel Barr

The teachers we toured with truely had our daughters education in mind and when they spoke with her they were truely interested about her career focus and really took the time to point out the great programs that would help her achieve her goals. Professor Gorski, McHugh, and Lucas in particular went above and beyond to make sure students felt supported and were able to learn to the best of their ability. I visited Northcentral Technical college for my son who is a senior in Elkhorn high school who made it to the semi-finals for WI Esports for the game Smite and they hosted the competition for the semi-finals and finals for numerous games from high schools all over WI and I had a great time and the campus was awesome and really nice, the set up was awesome and everyone was so welcoming, I'd go back anytime!!!Elizabeth Orwig

Fond du Lac Tribal and Community College is a special institution in northeastern Minnesota. The College is the only dual public and tribal college in the entire USA. The College offers a wide array of career based and university transfer programming. The campus setting is beautiful. The College offers student housing, athletic facilities, and pleasant student spaces. Administration and faculty deeply care about student results. The College is originally diverse in northeastern minnesota…..40% of it's student body is non-white. I graduated in 2010 with 2 degrees. It was a 2 year Tribal College, (had to take the Anishinaabe class), I went for 4ish years I loved it so much! It was affordable with quite a few classes to choose from. When I started, it was a small school with few people in classes, and wonderful instructors that had the time to spend with you if you weren't understanding something. LOVED IT! This 2 yr college is a place of many public events. Right now they are having their last of 4 free summer concerts. Beautiful architecture. Many cultures have gone thru the doors to receive a 2 yr degree and go on to other schools. Their football team..Thunder…has an excellent program..most of the players are from the deep South and experiencing cold for the first time…they house many sports teams. Excellent place. Think twice before attending this institution. I was enrolled to begin classes in the fall semester. One week before they began, DCTC contacted me saying they no longer offered the program that I signed up for. Again, ONE WEEK before classes began. This left me almost no time to scramble around looking for another school to attend for the fall semester. That kind of behavior is unacceptable and extremely unprofessional. The whole process just felt off anyway. They were always slow to respond, they fought every step of the way when I presented transfer credits from another institution. I was somewhat relieved in a way knowing I wouldn't have to deal with them any further. What a waste of time.Adam

Didn’t have the best experience overall. The instructor for the automotive technology class was only genuine once while he was teaching me something. Every other time, there was sarcasm and rudeness when trying to ask him questions. Not to mention half of the kids (quote “kids”) in the class were constantly on their phones and messing around. I wouldn’t have minded, except that we were placed in groups, therefor graded as a group. Received my second degree here and they accepted a respectable number of credits from a previous college. Someone from admin called me a year or so after graduation and asked if I had gotten anywhere with my degree. When he found out what I was doing and where I had gotten in life he nearly dropped the phone. Thanks DCTC for sending me places in life I didn’t think were possible. I currently attend a different college online. I have four remaining courses left of my program, three are offered spring semester while one isn't offered until fall. The one course I need that isn't available at my current college is available at Inver Hills which is why I enrolled in the course for spring. Upon completion, the course I take will transfer back to my original college so I can graduate spring. I have worked out all the details with my current college about this arrangement. I need Inver Hills to provide some bits of information and complete a form. I have spent the last week calling Inver Hills to which nobody responds. I have tried calling different departments-financial aid, admissions, etc. to which nobody responds. I have sent multiple emails to which I received only one response telling me to look at the Web site. Inver Hill's communication with students is terrible! This is ridiculous. What are the advisors and admission staff doing all day where they cannot be bothered to answer a phone call, email, or provide information?!Kat Elizabeth

I haven't even started the semester yet and have had everything that could possibly go wrong do so. They transferred my credits incorrectly which set back my registration by a few weeks, after two months my financial aid is still "processing" even after multiple phone calls being reassured it would be through the next day. Having no financial aid means my text book order was cancelled. And a week before classes start they dropped one of my courses putting me short on credits for graduation. No matter what time of day I call any department no one ever seems to answer and we play phone tag for days. All in all my experience seems to indicate that no one really cares about helping students and just goes through the motions. I must ask those who complained about this school why did you enroll? I found my education and time here at Inver Hills highly useful. Why spend 64 credits when you can earn your 2 year degree for 60 credits and half the cost of your tuition at other community colleges? If you make the most of your time in school and do your work on time. You could get a lot out of it and done with a degree with the field of your choice. You can even take an advanced degree such as a Bachelors here. I love that I do not need to go to a main campus and take courses at IHCC. I am back to finish a few credits at IHCC and transfer to Metro State University to complete my Bachelors. Just like you shop for cars, the latest technology, and other stuff why not compare schools? They want everyone to attend classes on campus. Come on. They proudly and loudly proclaim "Saint Paul College – We're Back this Fall". There are multiple new COVID variants out now with record hospitalizations in MN but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife and I are both working from home. Our employees cared enough about our safety to let us do this, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. My wife is taking classes at a private college and they told her all classes will be online, at least for now. No need to risk your health and come in, but Saint Paul college wants us all on campus. Thankfully I did my research by talking to them and decided against going here. Spending a little more so that I can stay at home and take my Lit classes online. Don't bother with this place. If you can, spend a little extra and have the peace of mind that you won't end up in the ICU with a tube down your throat. There, I did my research so you don't have to. Feel free to call them. I havnt attended this school, & along with my experience so far & reading the reviews I may not. I have a degree; however, I work as a nursing assistant. I love my job, but I often see aids being treated pretty poorly. So, as I get older, I thought maybe I could look into being an LP . In this role, I could work fairly with the aides around me…blah, blah, blah. So I requested more information. I recieved no call back, only an email saying I had to put an application in. Eh, no. I want information from you, to see if this is a good fit, so I can decide if I want to put an application in….I guess, maybe within the bigger picture, I did get the information I needed.Jane Hallett

I ate at the City View Cafe at St. Paul College. This is the cafe that is operated by the students in the culinary program. I recently enjoyed the Valentines Tasting menu and it was fantastic. The only criticism I had for the meal was the shell on the dessert was a bit thick (I cannot believe I am complaining about dessert). It was hard to gracefully eat but it was so worth it. The combination of flavors was divine. If this meal was any indication of the talent these students have, we are going to have sone great chefs (hopefully in the Twin Cities area) in the future.Sharon Moen

I will be completely honest. I did some PSEO courses here and thought it was a nice campus. There is some struggles and problems with the school, but nothing to make this not a choice for a college. Teachers are nice, most of the students are fine and just do there own thing, there is a couple of clubs and activities, and the class sizes see to be reasonable (smaller than JMHS). I think it is a good campus and should be considered an opinion and not thrown to the curb when looking for local colleges.Burner Account

What a joke… My wages are currently being levied for a semester I did not even get to attend! The Financial Aid/Counselor I worked with helped me sign up for all the classes needed for that semester but did not inform me that I had no available financial aid. By the time, I discovered this (3 weeks into class) it was too late to withdraw without paying full price. I called multiple people at the school but all refused to help or did not know how to help. I’m currently going to Summit, Now Summit is amazing. It truly is, They will try and help. However, I don’t think that this is the BEST option for most people with children, or bills or that have to overall deal with not being able to work 8:30am – 2:50pm. I’ll explain why. First, Summit is free. That’s not a lie. They do provide you with steel toe boots and a computer to start. That’s it! See, Summit is only free because they only take part in grants from FAFSA. You cannot apply for loans, Summit doesn’t take part in FAFSA loans. This is conflicting with schooling. You’ll have to pay $2.50 every morning (RUSH HOUR) to get to campus if you don’t have a car and take Metro Transit. The 19, and C-LINE run directly in front of Summit. It is also $2.50 to leave campus, (RUSH HOUR) totaling $5.00 a day. Good luck! So, they give out discounted bus cards also….discounted. You have to pay out of pocket to get it. They do give out grocery cards I believe $400 worth. That is week 3, same with Bus Card. They will not give you notebooks, backpacks, pencils, or the required pants they tell you to have. Did I mention they do not allow for you to apply for FAFSA loans? So if you’re following, after they take your Grant money you get $0.00 for start up help. You get $0.00 to pay rent with, buy groceries etc. things that a college would normally give to any 18 year old. In other words, there’s a 18 year old getting a better education than you at the community college (Minneapolis Community & Technical College) less than 1.5 miles away, and of course. They do get FAFSA, Grants & Loans. Easily over $3,000 just to help you focus on SCHOOLING. Now, I’ve shown up to classes and the teachers are on Thanksgiving break. That’s FINE! But if the student doesn’t show up for that class no one is teaching, You’ll get a tardy or whatever they call it. Splendid! 2 stars, because it is FREE, it is a trade school. No you will not get FAFSA loans while schooling. They give out $2,500 week 18. 18 weeks and you’ve made $2,500. That is a joke. My rent alone is $1,145.00. They will offer you work study! It’s 2 hours a day at $15.00 an hour. When applying to Summit do not even think you’ll get any financial help from the government that goes directly to you. You will have to pay for transportation. You will have to pay for all your materials. You will have to pay. Pell Grant clears for $6,045 at most. Summit used all my Pell Grant and I didn’t get a penny to help with expenses! Thanks Summit! Glad to put myself in a hole so deep, it’s hard to see light. Thanks for lying to me about Financial Aide during my FAFSA appointment. Had I known I wouldn’t get financial help to sit in a classroom from 8:30am-2:50pm, I would’ve directed my wife and Newborn daughter to a different path. Not this one, Not by a long shot! One last thing, for you women out there with kids. Overall a great school and every staff who works there, especially Dr King, truly is living their dream (helping students better their lives). Ms. Crystal keeps track of every student, which is a really good thing because it shows how committed Summit is to their students. I was referred to Summit by my brother who had completed his electrician program and is now working as an electrician. I took a different route though, I signed up for their IT program. I was excited to start. But I soon realized their IT program wasn't what i thought it'd be. We learned about ITIL which the professors explained over and over again that it was highly recommended by other IT professionals that they do not teach us ITIL, yet the professors at Summit decided to do so anyways. I feel like the IT professors at Summit taught ITIL the way they thought was right, even when it was not correct. The whole IT program consisted of presentations which i understood because if an IT tech wanted to present an idea to their boss, they would need presentation skills. But I didnt think the whole program needed to be focused on presentations. Some of the IT professors werent on the same page. Needless to say, I dropped out of their IT program and started a different IT program and i learn so much better now. Summit is a great school overall. I think they need a lot (and I mean A LOT) of improvement in their IT program though.M Y

I went to this Community College back in the Mid-2000s. When I first started, I scored very low on the English/Math/Comprehension Reading so I had to start with the prerequisite course before I could entered the college level courses. After a year and a half, I struggled with the academic (English/Math/Comprehension Reading) and all the teachers I had at that time would just advise me to go to the computer lab/learning room for help and never did help me improve on a one-on-one basic. I felt like I was never appreciated in those classes. At that current time, D2L was starting in place so portion of the classes' discussion/homework were online. I still remember other students never helping me and always correcting or making fun of my errors in writing. There was a teacher's conference one-on-one meeting with every student and I still remembered it until this day. The last words from that teacher was, " With how you are doing in this class, you will not make it and I would have to fail you." I dropped out of Century College soon after and owed a couple thousand dollars in debt. Long story short: Then I decided to transferred to InverHills Community College (IHCC) and that was where the difference came in. The feeling and care for the students were so different. Teachers' there at InverHills Community College were able to help and assist me to improve my academic issues that I had. I still remember a teacher staying 30 minutes-45 minutes later after class just to help me everytime. I graduated at IHCC with my associate's degree then proceed onwards to finishing my Double Major Bachelor's Degree at MetroState University.John Bradley

Apathetic faculty providing misinformation at an obvious cash grab. The counselors are useless and ended up providing me with false information that delayed my education while also costing me thousands of dollars. They absolutely refused to take any responsibility and side-stepped my inquiries every single time. While I did have some excellent instructors, it was always a toss up what type of instructor I would get. Four times out of five I ended up with an instructor who either didn't care about the class they were teaching or just plain didn't have the aptitude to teach the class. Most times I ended up teaching my courses to myself. There really seems to be no standard of education that the faculty strives for. I would not recommend anyone to attend this college. Before I get a response from anyone at Century I'll make it known that I have no interest in filling out any sort of suggestion card or survey. The post-secondary education community here has gone beyond my expectations to support my continued education as a transfer student. I'm thankful for the experienced instructors, who have given me a wealth of knowledge here. The support staff are excellent, including TLC, Writing Center, Math Center, Advising, Counseling, Information Technologists, and Librarians. They connect students with excellent resources outside of the classroom. This is honestly one of the most helpful and supporting CNA course program I’ve ever taken. I’ve taken one of a cna course in the past(won’t name them), but they never really put in the time to support their students… Ever since when I got into Prime Time Medical school, for their CNA program… best believe me, I’ve learned a lot as a Nursing Assistant student! Whatever it is that you don’t understand in the course, the instructors are willing to put in their time to study with their students, ON one on one! All of the instructors are very helpful, incredibly intelligent and supportive towards their students! it seems like a good place by how it looks on the inside and out, so I don't question its legitimacy. But the way communication is done is very iffy. It doesn't make me wonder if anything is dubious is going on, but it's very blatantly disorganized. they're not good at getting back to emails and phone calls, and I went in to talk to someone in person and even that was disorganized. the community speaks very highly of it, so I'm still going to give it a shot with the classes, but I am very skeptical of how this is going to go. Edit: they scheduled a class on veterans day causing people to miss a day into training and certifications because of that day. veterans day isn't new, and I feel it was a very negligent for them to not plan that out better. They also don't keep up with their website, flyers, and updates. This is all really poor communication, on their end. They don't even care to give a call to let you know building is closed when in fact exam is scheduled and after taking off time from work when i arrive its closed. and when i call them they were so careless and the lady who picked the phone try to tell me pearson due should have notified you and should have known we are closed … she says the person who can help you not working this week and call next week ? is this customer service ? Rasmussen does not care about anything but $. By far the biggest scam in education. You may want to save the heart ache and get divorced before your spouse attends this college. They purposefully change your schedule the night before classes or nursing clinicals start. It has happened nearly every quarter in the last 4 years. For example, today my wife had the first class of the new quarter in the morning. She had a four hour break in which She stayed in Mankato instead of driving 45 minutes home only to find out that the instructor wasn’t even coming in for the first day. The dean informed the class 20 minutes after it was supposed to start. The dean informed the students that she knew the entire time that the instructor wouldn’t be there because the instructor wasn’t even official hired yet. Zero Communication. Intentional schedule changes at last minute. The most unorganized s*** show I have ever had the misery of being associated with. The worst part of all is our kids suffer because the school is such an unorganized mess. By year 2 they will do everything to try to screw you. Im not Over exaggerating. I absolutely LOVE this school! Going back to school is something I thought about for quite some time but it never seemed to be the right time and it made me more nervous. I felt that being 27 and having young children, I just couldn't make it work. I made the excuse of being too old or not enough time. However, the thought constantly crossed my mind. I've been doing distance learning with my girls now since the beginning of the year and finally decided now was the time, it felt right. I looked into a couple different online school's and eventually chose Rasmussen. BEST CHOICE EVER! I absolutely LOVE this school. The way the classes are set up work so perfectly with my life and the amount of support is incredible. I never feel uncomfortable or as if I'm failing in any type of way if I were to need assistance. If you're thinking about going to school and have been holding back, I strongly suggest Rasmussen, you will not be disappointed!Ashley Gilb

Want a college that wants to see you fail? Go to Rasmussen. They rave about how flexible they are, but will continue to change your schedule every quarter the week of classes starting. Makes employers just as upset as you are. Counselors and Dean are slow at responding. Clinicals are a joke. 2 quarters at a nursing home following a CNA. I don’t feel prepared at all to be a nurse because I’ve had ZERO hospital setting clinicals. Super expensive. 5-6k a quarter, with the risk of losing your job because you have to call out due to schedule changes. The instructors are the only good thing that came out of this school. I chose this school because I could finish the ADN almost a year faster than at any other school, but wish I would have sucked it up and finished a year later at a different school. It would have saved me tons of money, less stress, and I would actually be prepared for the real nursing world.Google User

I have taken a handful of BLS/CPR classes and this one was my favorite. I took the blended/hybrid class. The online component was easy to access and walked me through the modules and information smoothly. My instructor was Serena Pederson at the Saint Francis location. Serena communicated her expectations well, ensured we all were comfortable with the skills learned and made it a pleasant learning environment. Highly reccomend!Jayne Marie

I took the Adult and Pediatric CPR/AED/FA blended class. Serena was the instructor for the in person skills class, and was friendly, helpful, very informational and gave me lots of time to practice. She explained everything clearly, pointed out all the key points to remember, and regularly asked if we had any questions. I worked as a CNA at this BrightStar location during the summer of 2013. I can definitely say that it was my most enjoyed CNA position I've had. I was quickly worked into a full-time schedule with some new clients, my pay-rate was relatively above average compared to many other facilities/agencies, and I felt the management and nursing staff were very professional and considerate towards their workers and clients. The schedule was always very flexible (as long as you give enough notice), and the one time I had an unexpected event come up where I needed the next day off, the Director of Nursing solved the problem for me quickly and helped me out big time. Connected me with a realtor. This isn't about the veterans, it's about some discount service. The realtor bailed on me. We had an appt for tomorrow, she texted me around 8.30 pm saying she is not coming. I am a seller. I also waited on her for a week to get back into town so we could meet. I should have been interviewing other agents, this lady is unprofessional to say the least. She obviously doesn't care she's serving the veterans here who served our country. What a shame! This is someone out of West Metro, I won't put the name, but I also contacted you via email about this. This was the most amazing blessing when we moved to Indiana from Tennessee. As an educator, to be honored by this program was such a tremendous feeling of support for what I do.
