20 Best Cna Programs In Boston, MA (2022 Updated)

I have to be honest about this. Good college when it comes to campus design, some Professor's teaching skills, and assistance for school related issues. Although, the school teaches bad ethics. For example, sports lack discipline. They will teach there athletes to run score boards up. Up by 20 in a basketball game with 3mins to go, they will shoot more three point shots than Steve Kerr. The most alarming thing is faculty will participate in Hazing students. I've watch this with my own two eyes. Call them out on it, and they will just deny it, at least my professor did. I am currently a student there, who help form a club, in order to help students get there basic needs to become a successful student. So just remember, good campus design, some Professors have good teaching styles, good for resources, but terrible place to learn good ethics. To me learning good ethics and applying them is one of the most important, or the most important thing to learn as a student. Would not be the first school I would want to send my child to. I do recommend this college as an affordable and easy starting point but be ready to encounter many hurdles in your way and a lot of incompetent staff. Make sure to double check everything you do here, especially the financial aid part. The professors are nice but it’s on you to actually learn the material, the professors rarely will make sure you learned anything. It’s a 3 star college. School seemed great when I toured it, but from day 1 that changed. I didn't recieve any of the assistance or help I was told I'd be able to get/be provided with. The dorms had many issues, such as my room along some of my friends rooms lacked door knobs and even locks. In the winter the heat didn't work at all, and for days at a time there would be no hot water through out the building(s). It normally took a day or longer for any form of maintenance/repairs to be done. Was given very little info about/prior to activities and or things going on at the school. The computers throughout the dorms almost never worked so if you don't/didn't have your own computer you couldn't do basically any of the work you'd need to do (for most all work at the school has to be done on the computer or online) and even if you did have your own computer or the ones in the dorms worked the internet barley ever worked, so no matter what getting work done was very difficult. Also, the attendance policy is very strict and no matter what the situation, whether it be a family emergency or just no going to class because you don't want to, if you miss 3 or more straight classes you get kicked out of the school and with little to no prior warning about being kicked out. Overall, I had many issues and problems (some of which are stated, but not all) with this school, which made for a pretty bad college experience. To finish, this school sucks, and is a complete waste of time and money from the moment you start. DON'T WASTE YOUR MONEY AND TIME WITH THIS SCHOOL.Adam Hope

I started looking at Bay State College because of the great things I had read and seen online. I requested information and received that promptly. I applied and got accepted. That process was very smooth. I was at a community college before and had some credits that would transfer. Bay State staff helped me with the process and made sure the credits that could transfer would transfer. Fast forward two years. I received my Associate's in Criminal Justice and I am in the Bachelor's program scheduled to be done this year. I have built amazing relationships with professors and staff. They have become more like a family. If I ever have an issue I reach out and someone will always have an answer for me. When they do not, believe me. They find it. There are so many opportunities they have to offer you just have to ask. I am sad my time is coming to an end with Bay State. Royal health care is the best place if you want to start your nursing career. The schedule is flexible. You can choose either morning or evening classes. They provide clinical rotation as well which was really beneficial for me. The teacher was experienced and helped us with any questions or concerns. I'm a new registered nurse, and am still on the hunt for a job. I needed a BLS class because mine expired! It would be ideal if I had already found a job where the hospital would pay for my BLS, but this was my situation. Jonathan was a great instructor. Because this is my fifth CPR class (my third BLS), I was rolling my eyes about having to go through the skills yet again. Jonathan was efficient in teaching the skills and testing us all within 45 minutes. Taking the rest of the class through online modules was so convenient. I highly recommend this class for anyone, but especially for those who are taking CPR for the third or fourth time.Pearl Miran

Great class Would recommend it for any healthcare provider in need of a BLS certificate. Our instructor Jonathan provided each student with the oportunity to practice their skills in a comfortable and supportive atmosphere. I was delighted that the manikins had rate monitors to simulate the proper depth and speed of compressions. That was a feature that I had never seen before and drastically improved my technique. Great BLS class! The instructor was very knowledgeable and the class was very educational and comprehensive. The students were working as team members as first responders and health care workers performing CPR on mannequins. The mannequins were great as they were providing an immidiate feedback on how effective the compressions are! If the rate and the depth of compressions were appropriate to the guidelines, two green dots would appear on the mannequin’s shoulder. I would highly recommend this class!Evelina Davtyan

I took my Basic Life Support program here. Our class had a phenomenal instructor named Patrick who was patient, helpful, efficient, and informative. He made sure to go over all the required content and then gave us tips and tricks to keep in the back of our heads in case we came across an emergency. To top it off, they had great equipment that gave us feedback on when we were conducting CPR correctly which expedited the process since we had immediate notification when doing it properly. I recently attended Coastal Career Academy in Fall River, MA. I attended the February – April evening classes. It’s a great school. They helped me accomplish a huge step in my life, a first step to a much brighter more promising future. I signed up for the Nursing Assistant program. It’s a 100 hour program, in which they provide everything necessary to get you ready for your state test. Signing up was easy. It’s a decently priced school. And one of the few in which are still open during this pandemic. Debbie owns and runs the school. She can be a bit scarce and hard to get a hold of but she’s honestly got so much going on with all the programs her school provides and getting them together for both attending and up coming students. My CNA instructor was very professional, great with communication and very thorough with teaching. She is willing to go the extra mile to help you with anything you need to learn or practice. She made sure myself and my class were well prepared for our state test. Coastal Career Academy provides you with both morning and evening classes which is great for anyone who needs a flexible schedule for attending Coastal Career Academy. With the variety of courses they offer you honestly can’t go wrong. I recently passed my state test on both my Clinical and Knowledge test. The school is very unprofessional and the director will rip you off. Although my teacher was kind and put a lot of effort into preparing us for our CNA state test, she was not trained or prepared to teach us because the director (Debbie) hired her on the day classes started and didn’t give her the proper material to teach us with. Who has students pay a down payment for a class that may or may not have a teacher? Many payments made by the students were lost and misplaced and the director tried making it seem like people owed more than what they actually did. She just cares about the money. The secretary even agreed that the director will rip you off. Our class complained about not feeling prepared for the state test to Debbie. She demanded a mandatory skills class for two days, only did it for one and said “we’ll be fine”. People who shouldn’t have failed, failed. If you are looking into local schools in the Fall River area for CNA, Phlebotomy, Medical Assistant etc. I highly recommend Coastal Career Academy, I was a little hesitant on going back to school but the owner and instructor Deb Gomes helped me break out of my shell and nipped my what if attitude in an instant. You don’t just learn from Deb or any of her instructors you become family. From dealing with stressed out students nervous about state exams, or taking time to help with job placement even after you have been certified they continue to be there. This place is complete waste of money. You can take this course somewhere else and learn way more than what you learn here. Jean is the most unprofessional person I have ever met in life. He will cut you off while you are talking. He even cuts his colleague named Karrie Jean off while she is talking to students. Also, When someone questions him about him being ignorant he never admits that he is wrong. Instead he starts accusing students by saying that, " you are using intimidation tactics to get diploma". He is so good at using this line. If you are one the person who going to question his ignorance then you will see what I mean. This place is terrible. Once again, do not waste your money. I don't know about their computer repair services, but their so called free computer training class is a joke. a waste of time. I enrolled for the A+ class. cost $200 + $50 for books. .,The instructor might be computer knowledgeable, but had no business teaching a class. The syllabus says, " hands on training" which never happened. If you take the class with the hope of working in a computer field or taking the A+ class, you will be wasting your time. Boston Career Institute was the best decision I made. Now I have a career as a dental assistant and I am very happy. This school kicked me out the day of my test for clinical assistant because i made a review on yelp (if you look for bci brookline on yelp the whole page was removed because of my review) on how i felt about the teacher and how she wasn't helping the class. I recently got a email from them asking me to come back and finish then they denied me to come back and denied me getting my money back and i paid in full ($1,530) and i still have both of my receipts. I was happy to be able to go back and get my certification but hey they don't want me to come back. I was a medical assistant student, this school is beyond helpful. The location is convenient but the staff cares about their students. My teacher was Mrs. Baez, she is a dedicated teacher that strives in her students success. Mrs. Baez doesn’t play any games, she’s strict and will ensure you’re on time with your work. She may be strict but she will help you with any confusion and even supply you recourses to be successful. Overall Mrs. Baez, is a teacher who enjoys her profession but also enjoys being able to teach others and help them grow for their career. The daycare in this this institution is absolutely horrible, Dorra seems to pick and choose who she’ll admit into the school, very racist woman, they absolutely suck at communicating, don’t return calls, don’t return emails, very condescending tone! I DO NOT RECOMMEND anyone to go in there…the first person you meet is Yasmin, she’s all lovely only on the first day you make the deposit and last week so you can leave good recommendations about her/ the place…she tells you It’s a 6 weeks program, 2 weeks online and the rest in person. She also tells you exactly the days and time you’re supposed to be. What she doesn’t tell you is that the days changes and it goes based on the teacher’s schedule and she would let u know a day or two beforehand. Also, if you can’t make it because you have a LIFE outside of school, she would tell you you’re not following the school’s rules. Absolutely useless staff Went there for the first time Two guys on the front desk. When I politely asked them I wanted to look for a job. The guy just said “ you can just use the computer here” no further instructions. I was shocked. If people can search jobs online they can search on their own computer or in a library. I asked him again “ are all masshire brunches works like this one ?” He said “ I don’t know about other ones “ Speechless I went to their computer and tried to See what it is. Basically the same thing as any job search engines if not worse. And on the page they ask you to log in with job seeker id which the front desk guy felt too lazy to explain to me well. I sit in front of the computer for fifteen minutes just curious to see if the lazy front desk guy actually do anything here. Some elderly lady asked him some technical questions about the website he went there for a while trying to figure out and ended up saying “ sorry I can’t help out “ I wonder if the employee there are just volunteering there or get paid too little to care. They don't know their own policies and are unreliable: They failed to fully fill out a form and I lost three weeks of benefits as a result. I caught the mistake and the problem is now resolved, but those three weeks are still being withheld. MassHire told me that the payments would be paid out at the end of the eligible period, but that isn't true. However, you have to be willing to listen and learn. You can't learn if you don't utilize the classes they have. Just not suitable for adults, as my mom would say. Someone help me figure out how to be normal and to tell the truth. I have been cooking gourmet pasta since I was 9 years old in 1985 and gourmet vegetarian soup since 1986. I'm not entirely stupid because I wasted time on one of your workshops and forgot the rules on what size font to put my resume in or how horrible it is to write references upon request. Save the money on hiring rude people there and just put up the dumb resume rules on your website, you people don't seem to really want to help anyone really but you've got a job. I happened to notice here that most job seekers arriving here at JVS have been in the workforce for 10+ years. I used to go to the previous location near Chinatown which was much more low key. This facility does not help people with questions. The job placement person I went to see during open hours was rude about locating local job training referring me to their website with mostly all costly job placement training programs. I have been through several job training programs and don't really want to go through yet another job training program unless it is for example IT or routing. Many of us have job applicant anxiety. folks out of high school/college ought to leave the area. Everyone here I talk to is from Boston and never been to another state even. I applied for cna program, after going through interview process and waiting for simple responses from “ recruiter” , I had to chase down and call them and continually ask them is there anything else they need, then they asked for extremely specific routines on how I would get to classes and eta and when I asked what was the purpose for this, they just kept saying it’s a part of their enrollment process then said SHE didn’t feel as if I qualified for the program which felt discriminatory against me being a mom. Then I called their supervisor to get some more clarity on why they needed such specific and invasive information and they just kept repeating the same thing. JVS is an excellent place for immigrants/refugees and new folks to the USA to find a career and programs like CNA, Pharmacy Tech , etc. The programs they give are not free; they take money from the government ( around $10.000 thousand for each person) and donations from rich people to help immigrants. The amusing thing is even though the place is designed for immigrants they do not hire immigrants or black people ( only 4 -5 black people for entire JVS) 90% people who work there are WHITE. Going to JVS you will see large pictures of Muslim women at the walls, and they have even prayer room for Muslim people to pray, but they accept only one Muslim person in each program, you can check that from their Facebook Page.Queen Latifa

Had to take this class to satisfy my employers requirement of having a current BLS. The video instructions to get to meeting area in the building was helpful, but could use an updated version d/t the new layouts d/t COVID. Jon was an effective instructor despite a larger class and having to adapt to social distancing practices. He did a good job facilitating the hands on skills despite the circumstances. I completed the BLS heartcode training with Jon! The certification was through the American Heart Association and I took one part of the class online followed by an in-person skills session. If I could give this "college" zero stars, I would. I took a few classes there for a week and a half because I needed some cheap credits in order to graduate early from my real school. I'm not typically a judgmental person, but after about ten minutes I couldn't believe how much of a joke it was. First off, the place reeks. Like I'm not sure how it's scientifically possible for any building to smell that bad. Furthermore, two of my professors could barely speak English and another one was extremely uptight and treated the students like 3rd graders. You know it's bad when your Spanish teacher's comprehension of the English language is spectacular compared to the other teachers. But what was most pathetic was a large portion of the "students." Most of them clearly didn't want to be there, which is ridiculous considering you're paying for further education so you should want to be in school. A lot of kids were clearly low functioning, ignorant, and unmotivated. The one moment I'll remember for a while was when a kid had to get escorted out because he was on meth. I hope he can get help with his addiction, but you can't have students coming into class drooling and expect anybody to take this place seriously. So, you get what you pay for. I wouldn't recommend the school to anyone who is evenly remotely educated. I've heard it makes illegal Mexicans hop back over the border because they realized they can get a better education on the other side.David Leicht

MassBay changed my life for the better. After attending a college that wasn’t right for me, MassBay saved the day. In my 3 semesters, I have had wonderful professors and the administration has been incredible. Transferring into and out of the school were made extremely easy, and I would recommend this school to anyone looking to work towards a degree. Everyone here WANTS you to graduate and succeed and you can feel that in all aspects of the college. (Wellesley campus): Student parking is (I think) free and in close proximity to campus. Advising, financial aid, and the bookstore were all very knowledgeable and helpful. All classes and administrations are all in one building. I have zero regrets about attending MassBay and I encourage anyone looking to earn a certificate, Associate’s Degree, or eventual Bachelor’s to see what MassBay has to offer!!Sarah Garofalo

Massbay is not a school it's a business. All they care about is getting your money and screwing you over. The lady at student accounts in Wellesley seems unhappy with her job and gives you so much attitude for wanting to know why it's taking 2 months to get a response back from them. If they owe you money good luck trying to get it back. If you have any issues you have to fight harder than a fish gasping for air in land.They lie about clinical sites they have for your internships,charge you so many fees for facilities that are never available or outdated.If your thinking about getting an education here DON'T!!!!!!!…your better off driving out your way to QCC ,Middlesex, or just apply to UMass, Worcester even Salem State. DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON THEM. They care less about you then Trump does minorities!!!!!Alain Alfonso
