The biggest neglect and humiliation I went through in this admission process. My friend and I felt our dreams shattered and our mental health eroded. If you are a international student and need financial aid DO NOT GO! It is not worth it and they will lie to you. The financial aid do not respond, the woman looks like she is at vacation every month. You try to solve the problem and nobody answers you, and when they do… They lie. Saying they didn't receive emails from two students. But after we turned down our spot in the program, the director of financial aid mysteriously responds to the email sequence that she herself said she didn't receive. After two months of conversation, being ignored, not receiving answers and NO minimum effort from the financial aid office we decided that fight for this college is not worth it. If they are disorganized n the admission process, imagine how they treat their international students – if they are rich may they do care -.Fernanda Bogue

We were both accepted into the Bonner Program, but didn't have our financial need met by the college. We received a set amount of aid, but this was not in the website, and the lack of communication made things really hard. Many emails were not responded, but when I said I was declining the offer (after weeks trying to solve the problem), I got a response in the next day. The promise of meeting 100% of our financial need (which was in our Bonner acceptance letter) was not a reality. We worked REALLY hard, and we were absolutely devastated with this situation. If you want to go to a college where they force you to wear masks but expose you to 40 degree weather sitting in stands with it raining and wet this is the place for you. No student should have to be exposed to these inhumane treatments. I am a family member of a student who is currently in stands with it raining and cold. The fact this is an HBCU… Well, that is best of all. There is nothing like being nurtured by your own culture. It is a priceless gift. You take it into the world with full understanding that you not only have something to contribute, but it has value no one can take from you. Some student decided to order doordash from Virginia Beach Which was 18 minutes out of my way and then they couldn't even tip. all I got was the base pay from doordash I couldn't even buy a cup of coffee with that. If people are going to order food and have it delivered to them they need to learn how to tip Or you better get something that's close by because you don't order from another city and then you can't even tip. The good thing and what I *really* desire the most about the "Green" and "Gold," is that visitation, even when you are not invited the University allows you to break free and be yourself. Because of this, makes me ought not to approach with such criticism when it is just basic conversation. I AM NOT A STUDENT. IM A TOURIST I toured this beautiful school yesterday. It was absolutely beautiful. To walk around seeing so much scripture. So many things to inspire young minds and hearts to Christ. I did not get a chance to walk around the entire campus but the places I did see were amazing. My tour guide was Robert Vann. He knew a lot of history and important things about the school. He probably knew the mission statement if I asked him. He took us into the Chapel and had so many great things to say about it. He also said, the school was a safe place for Christians. The professors and staff, knew Jesus. Frfr. They encourage a relationship with Christ. He has never been around so many different ethnicities fully in worship together. It reminded him of Heaven. He saw that we are all the same. The school opened the eyes of his heart to so many different beautiful things about ALL of the people of God. I’m not gone lie, I don’t wanna say that I would ever move back to Virginia. And I do not like school. However, after seeing the school, and hearing the Words of Mr. Vann, it makes me want to consider attending Regent. Even if you aren't a Christian the respect and just humbleness of all my professors and even peers has been extremely outstanding . I am speechless. I loved my time spent at Hollins University for its students, professors, and campus. It's an amazing place to grow and learn and has a strong, supportive community. The campus is beautiful and easily accesible by foot, the professors care about their students, and there are a wide range of activities and events held on campus. The best four years of my life were spent here! The beautiful, serene antebellum campus was the perfect locale for studying and making friends. Although the campus is tiny, it is really such an amazing and magical place where you make long lasting friendships and take classes in such an amazing environment. Please change something and tell the professors to chill with the assignments, non-essentials and overly taxing assignments need to be wiped, because the whole school is going to burn unless you don't edit the schedules and course loads for an online semester. If we are at Randolph-Macon to learn then it is falling to do that and it is a serious waste of my money by the school to keep paying inept professors who can't adapt properly to a different learning setting. Most professors are good in their fields, but all but a few have the ability to teach and relay information properly to students. They insist on using jargon and field specific terms, but in order for proper consumption by students, they need to communicate in layman's terms. I went four years to R-MC and graduated with a degree in history. Just prior to my senior year recruiters from Fairfax County Public Schools came to campus and told me to get practice teaching and a semester of educational psychology and they would hire me on a provisional basis. I was employed by FCPS in August and graduated the previous May-June. I made a career our of teaching, counseling and administration for 30 years and was elected to the Loudoun County School Board. My favorite experiences were there and we did not have anything as nice as they have on campus now in terms of facilities. They have always had good instruction, however. Most of my friends to this day are former classmates from my time there. I am trying to encourage my son that a "small" school is an ideal learning environment. Every show we do with this venue we find they are constantly on the top of everything. This is a very convenient venue. The place is very well kept. There are different levels. While attending a concert, I actually enjoy being in the front row on one of the two balconies. This allows you to have the option of remaining seated without having anyone obstructing your view of the stage. There are plenty of parking options around. Fortunately, the garages around are free. We visited this venue to experience the annual Dance Dimensions recital. The Sandler Center has always provided a classy and comfortable environment to enjoy an array of performances. The ushers were pleasant, and the ladies at the concession stand were delightful. I have been here as a chaperone on field trips also, and they still did not disappoint. Lovely aquarium. $25 for ages 12+, $20 for ages 3-11. Lots of parking in front lot, but there is a $5 fee (pay at muni-meter). At this time, reservations are required. We were lucky enough to show up at around 12 pm on a Wednesday and get a 1 pm reservation…as we didn’t know and didn’t book in advance. Masks are NOT required throughout the aquarium. The beginning portion of the aquarium did get very crowded as it is a narrow pathway through a few exhibits, including the glass aquarium tunnel…when you consider tons of kids and parents taking a gazillion photos, this stretch of the aquarium can get chaotic at times…even with the timed reservations. After that area though…there is more than enough space to explore at your leisure. Lots of interesting and well-thought-out exhibits…be sure to look and read everything. There is so much to learn. The entire aquarium is well-kept and maintained. All staff were very nice and helpful. I highly recommend the aquarium to those of all ages.Jason Persaud

I found this to be a fun and educational aquarium well worth my time. I am a NC resident and decided to take a day trip to explore the Virginia Aquarium. The staff here was warm, friendly, and eager to share information to enhance my experience. I thoroughly enjoyed exploring the boardwalk and learning about oyster beds and reefs and the efforts to restore and protect them. There are quite a few large tanks here, each with different offerings, and more than one touch tank. I did not take the whale watching boat tour but I will come back to participate in the experience. I spent more than two hours here and still did not take in all that the aquarium had to offer. I also really appreciated that the gift shop had a large selection of eco-friendly options and things made by local artists. This was a trip well worth my time, and I look forward to returning with friends.Charles Nye

Absolutely awesome. I only give it a four star because the seal and the sting ray exhibits where not available due to updates in the environments which was understandable as well as the nature path. It took us about 3 hours to get through and has so much education to offer. The education went much more beyond the standard wildlife education you normally get at these places. They were interactive and immersive set up that taught about the wild life, our effect on it, and how things have changed over thousands of years. It was very captivating for the whole family. We enjoyed the show at this beautiful and historic theater. The acoustics are not the best and some seats in the balcony suffer from safety bars obstructing the view but overall it is a well maintained lovely theater. The staff were all kind and helpful. There is a small parking lot behind the theater but the church next door has a large lot with members who were asking for donations for parking, which we were happy to do.Kellie Z

My daughter started dancing at Dance Artistry Unlimited when she was four years old. We absolutely love Ms. Sonya and her studio. I love the small studio atmosphere and her attention to the students and making them the best dancer they can be. We recently relocated to another state and miss the studio and Ms. Sonya dearly. We attend a larger studio but I miss the closeness my daughter had with everyone at Dance Artistry. She wasn't just another kid at the studio or a number. I still email her to ask her opinion regarding my daughter and classes she should take to develop her craft. Ms. Sonya is a great teacher. She offers the right balance of fun and high expectations that is needed. The dancers respect her, and even the little ones listen! Having a dance instructor that has a background with combination of professional cheer/dance, classical training and is a certified special educator is invaluable. I came to Fox Music to improve my singing for the praise team at church and to gain confidence when singing solos. I have really enjoyed every class. The atmosphere of support, healthy vocal practices, and guidance with song choices has helped me grow as a performer. I love that they have small class sizes, private lessons, and online options so you have more flexibility during the busy week. They are sure to keep everyone safe during smaller in person classes following all health and safety protocols. All of the teachers are skilled and give adjustments and feedback to individualize the experience. The kids had a blast. They were well entertained, with a huge focus on fun (they didn't even realize they were learning!). The Scientists kept the kids engaged and interactive. I booked a party for my 7 year old son Brenton! Jupiter Jen was sooo AMAZING!!! From arrival to departure she made the entire experience great!! She even called the day before the party to introduce herself and discuss everything. This school is awesome!!! I was referred to this class by a friend but I hesitated because I was afraid my age and poor fitness level would cause me to just embarrass myself. With one visit to the class I realized It was filled with all ages, fitness levels and skill. David is a top notch, world class trainer… David has this amazing ability, while moving amongst the class to give struggling students one on one assistants while still motivating and instructing the rest of the class. In my lifetime I have been through many types of training at various levels through sports, school, military and professional. I can say David and his school is a cut above the rest. One of the most professional, enjoyable and rewarding training experiences I have ever had. I highly recommend this class to anyone interested.Mike Carson

This is by far the best training experience I have ever had and I'm no spring chicken. In a short 3 weeks time, my body is already responding to the training. I can literally see it and classmates have said the same thing. The instructor David is awesome. I have never had any martial arts training and I appreciate the instructor’s experience with other martial arts to incorporate into our training. He seeks our feedback about how classes are going. He also has a systematic approach to training and gradually builds additional skills as the class progresses and will change up his teaching technique if the class is having difficulty picking up a skill. Classes are challenging and have built my fitness level, but he offers different levels of exercise for people at different fitness levels. Music in Motion has a cute stand alone studio and super friendly staff! Our timid newly two year old daughter quickly warmed up to her teachers (main teacher and occasional sub) and had a blast. The program for littles is fast moving to keep attention and repetitive enough to build that confidence! Ballet was thrown into developmental building and silly songs just added to the fun! As much as I hate giving only 4 stars, this review is honest. The staff is wonderful and the policies they have in place for Covid are great, BUT the execution of the policies is just not there. Only two parents wore masks, none of the teachers did and the sweet owner who popped in didn’t even wear a mask. The floor left feet solid black and the bathroom could use a deep clean as well. Experience in the class itself is a 5, but Music in Motion, from our experience, could use a stricter Covid policy that is enforced and a deep clean of the facility.Erica Lambert

I progressed through the pre-professional non-profit company they offer, all senior level classes and went on to earn a degree in Dance and dance professionally in Philadelphia. I reached out to Kiley when my pit mix’s behavior issues started to become hard to live with. He was totally dominating the household. I couldn’t have company, wasn’t comfortable walking him, and felt like I could barely leave the house. After failed attempts of training with other trainers in the area I was a bit skeptical but I did my research on reviews and decided I thought she’d be a good fit for my super bossy and energetic pit. We decided to go with board & train because he was having serious issues with crate training & separation anxiety from me. This was a very scary and anxious process for me because it’s really hard to trust a total stranger with your pet. Kiley kept in contact with me daily the whole two weeks. Updating me with the good and the bad. She’s not going to sugarcoat it for you, she’s going to tell you what you need to hear. Naturally, I had moments of worry and doubt throughout the process but she continuously reassured me it’s all part of it and that he was making good progress. The first day I got him back he really challenged me but I stuck to the plan she outlined for his return. After just one day of him being his hard headed pit self he realized he wasn’t the boss here anymore. The entire dynamic of the household has changed and he’s not making the rules anymore. He happily goes in his crate, sometimes even unprompted. He doesn’t beg or whine from the crate when I’m leaving or sleeping, he’s just laying down and relaxing. He typically has a large heavy duty crate that we were not able to travel with so I could never take him on the road with me. We’ve been able to get a standard collapsible crate because he’s no longer hurting himself trying to escape and he’s now able to come with me when I’m traveling, something I’ve never been able to do in the 2 years I’ve had him. This training has seriously helped my family so much, and more importantly, changed Demo’s quality of life and gave him the confidence he needed to be the best boy. My only regret is wasting time and money with previous trainers.noelle B

As a first time dog owner, I was so lost. Even after the endless research on how to train my puppy and how to be a good dog owner. Ki has been so wonderful! She's been so attentive and always goes above and beyond during and after our sessions. My puppy responds so well to her and she handle's him with great care. Truthfully, I was starting to experience the puppy blues but Ki helped me through it. I think I needed her more than my puppy did. She's not only training my puppy on how to be a well-rounded dog but she's also training me on how to be a great owner to give my puppy the best life possible. My pup, Ruby, is the sweetest trouble maker. She is a handful, like most puppies are, but I wanted to ensure we set ourselves us for success. I have 2 young children with 1 on the way, and Ruby was no walk in the park. Kiley set us up with the fundamentals that we desperately needed. We did the 1 week board and train and there is no way I could’ve made the same progress with Ruby that she did, even if I didn’t have kids. Not only did Ruby learn numerous commands, but she also learned the proper way to play with other dogs and interact with humans. Her confidence has sky rocketed. I've had a lot of experience at the studio as I was taught there for over nearly a decade, I started when I was 3 and left when I was twelve. Although I created some wonderful memories at this studio in which I will never forget, I wouldn't recommend this studio to someone who truly wants good technique, this is the main reason I left. It's an amazing studio for beginners, I loved it when I was younger, but as I got older I realized I wasn't learning anything, my learning stopped when I was about 9. There's a lot of favoritism towards certain students which didn't provide for a positive environment that highlighted the students who were working hard at home. Students get placed at levels they shouldn't be placed at, dancing for 6+ years shouldn't mean you should be with beginners. I vividly remember being with students in my later years at the studio who had barely danced a year. The studio also has a starlighter program in which I was in and auditioned for but this didn't help either I wasn't getting any better, after a year in the starlight program I left so I could move on to more technical training where I now compete at an advanced level. The Jazz and hip hop departments of this studio especially lack, I realize that now as I can do so much more. I would recommend this studio to a beginner but not to someone who wishes to get technically advanced and proficient. It's better to put your money somewhere else and get better training, not where you aren't being challenged.Alexa King

My daughter loves this studio and so do I. The teachers and students treat each other with a lot of respect and I recently found out that they are the FIRST anti-bullying studio which I believe was a really good step to take. My daughter always wants to go to dance even when she can’t or is sick and when she misses it she can ask anybody their to help her catch up and they gladly will. She is also apart of there company inside of the studio called the Legends which is really nice to have. Pivot Dance Center is my daughter’s second home and second family. We love it! Although as i got older, i could see some flaws in the way the studio was ran. Plus a lot of favoritism, and if you didn't see eye to eye with the main ballet instructor, she would come to dislike you. and for that reason i was not moved up in classes. although i did learn a lot in tap dancing at this school. (though that teacher no longer works there.) – i would recommend a more serious dance school.Kerianne Miller

My aim is for a completely honest review of the positives and negatives from my personal opinion of my time spent at fox music. Positives: I made great friends Helped my performance abilities Gained confidence Recitals were a great way to get over performance anxiety and were really fun! Negatives: My contract was unbreakable unless I moved a certain distance away. I believe my vocal abilities got worse and I had to pay a different singing instructor to fix it. I found Saul intimidating but nice and the other instructors I worked with that are no longer there were welcoming, supportive, nice and very good salespeople. I don’t know anything about the current instructors. The contract is a certain amount of time, they told me 3 years non negotiable. I was told by my friend that I made there that they told her the same thing she said she wasn’t interested and so they reduced the length of time. The contract only includes group lessons and I didn’t find them useful for anything unless I got to perform that day and for socialising. Actual singing lessons cost even more on top of the contract cost while I attended. During COVID when all in person classes were cancelled they offered online group lessons as a replacement, the contract stated we had to keep paying even though we hadn’t signed up for online lessons and it didn’t matter if we wanted them which I didn’t. At one point while I was there, they offered anyone who left a review a free lesson. I do not know if this has happened since. While I was there, if I had to put the contract on hold then I was to keep paying while it was on hold and they would add the additional time to the end, I found they had forgotten about that for me and had to remind them. I wouldn’t take back my time at Fox Music because I met some wonderful people and I was new to the city so it was helpful to make friends. I unfortunately ended up wasting a lot of money on unused classes after cancelling half way through the contract part let because of COVID and partly because I had started having trouble singing on pitch, something I never struggled with before. I personally think their business practices are questionable (albeit incredibly intelligent and probably kept them afloat during COVID) and I think that they weren’t useful as singing instructors for me. There was a clause in my contract that said if Fox were taken to court then even if a hole was found in the terms of the contract then one of the terms is that the judge would add that term to the existing contract and you’d have to pay their lawyer fees as well as automatically lose the case (this is paraphrased and I do not know if this clause is still included in the contract, I have reason to believe it doesn’t).Maree Mortley

If you’re thinking of enrolling, just do it! Amazing studio. The teachers genuinely care about each student. It doesn’t matter if you have never had a music lesson in your life, or if you are a seasoned professional – Fox Music has a really comprehensive curriculum and a caring community of students, so everyone feels welcome. Even if you feel terrified to sing in front of others, just commit to trusting the Fox Music process and before you know it you’ll be singing on stage confidently! I’d highly recommend Fox Music for all ages and abilities. They do a really incredible job of making everyone feel welcomed and comfortable.Maggie Fuller

My son has been taking piano lessons at Fox Music for the past year, and they have been AMAZING! My older children took lessons at other music schools in the area, and Fox Music has been the best experience by far. Their customer service team is always positive and helpful. Although my child is reserved, the teachers put him at ease right away. He started with no musical experience, and now he's reading music and playing whole songs with ease. He has stuck with piano longer than any other activity he's tried, and I credit that to Fox Music.Maria Wolf
