20 Best Acting Programs In El Paso, TX (2022 Updated)

This appointment was in the process since almost 6 months ago. There was no openings which was understandable from Covid. However when I arrived I was under the impression Dr Sing would be my doctor. I was told how sweet he is and reassured he's all in all a swell guy. In comes in Dr Wongmek who was the complete opposite from the beginning. She entered rushed and upset with the computers in the facility. She starts to rush my appointment and was condescending until I expressed I was becoming upset. She apologized for "how I was feeling" she soon changed her tone. I thought we were on to something when she asked me about my diagnosis. Unfortunately I was left in the room over another hour (almost 3 hrs total) nobody was in the hall to ask any questions. I had enough by then and walked out. I was gone almost 22 mins before they realized I had already left the premises. Mrs Rocio who was the sweetest ever, took it upon herself to call me. She wanted to reschedule me and I chose not to. Honestly for what… another 6 months. And to be passed off to another unhappy provider. Thank you but no thank you. I've been a Medical Assistant for over 13 years and never felt like such an inconvenience.Vanessa C

I went into a specific location and all I had done was a check-up basically, if you can really call it that. People say insurance is expensive, try not having it. All they did was check my weight, blood pressure, looked in my ear, looked down my throat and looked at my eyes. If I remember correctly. The whole process took about 15 minutes and I paid $100 the day of. I later received a bill with a balance of $300 roughly. It cost me almost $500 for a 15 minute check-up, that did absolutely nothing. I was given orders for blood-work and requested a colonoscopy, which I found out costs $2-3 thousand dollars, approximately. Not sure how much blood-work will cost, scared to ask. The doctor was good initially, seemed to truly care. The session was ended horribly, left feeling like, is the doctor coming back, feels like something was missing, felt incomplete. Capitalism is great and I understand it, but this country is ran by the dollar for the dollar. NOTHING IS DONE IN THIS COUNTRY FOR THE GOOD OF THE PEOPLE. Take covid-19 for example and all costs they were/are trying to pass on to the people. It's all about investors and how can they make as much money as possible.KayBecs

We are new in town Medicare with supplement and the closest clinic told us to come here maybe cecause they didn't like Medicare. A retired Physician Assistant I took 2 hours of reading with me but only waited 30 minutes. 5 stars for getting me in as a first time patient for a pre operative physical they had an appointment in two days instead of two weeks. Staff was courteous. Not sure if my MD was a resident but he was thorough and attentive. I found residents more engaged and interested than us old guys just trying to pay our mortgages. UTEP as university does not rank at all in either the QS, Times Higher Education or AWRU World University Rankings. Hence you do not go to this university to be competitive within academia nor expect career compensation on a commensurate monetary level as a Top Tier or even 100 ranked university. For those interested in careers in National Security or Intelligence, UTEP is one of the IC ACE (IC Centers for Academic Excellence) under the DIA. If you examine the current list of schools who classify, all with the exception of Penn State are sub-par in terms of academic ranking, reputation and overall competitiveness. As such, you should NOT expect to be recruited by premier alphabet federal agencies such as the CIA, ODI, FBI or DIA. The so-called meet and greet sessions with organizations such as the CIA are just for PR. Read A Curriculum of Fear by Nicole Nguyen. The IC ACE program is just an extension of the Milton High School program at a secondary level and subsequently proof of further militarization of academia. See Prof. David N. Gibbs research. UTEP NSSI program will not prepare you adequately for a position at an alphabet agency. I have direct experience in terms of the interview process and this includes two Five Eyes countries intelligence services. I would strongly advise having an established military background with an appropriate MOS, preferably working INT with high level clearance and exposure to analysis. Foreign language acquisition is mandatory. Being or becoming a polyglot is an enormous plus. Military is valuable for the vetting process and indoctrination. Finally I would also suggest majoring in fields of specialty as opposed to a generic umbrella like liberal arts program such as Intelligence studies. I would also suggest overseas exposure. Long term. Think Exchange student for extended periods. Total immersion including culturally and linguistically. Travel, gain first hand experience and real world knowledge. My final critique with UTEP is the faculty. None have applicable real world intelligence experience. Some have military background which is not the same as in the civilian world working for an agency. I can get more real world knowledge reading the articles written by ex-CIA McGovern or Philip Giraldi at Consortium News or watching Richard Steele on YouTube droning on about the need for total all source open intelligence as a reform for the CIA. This is a problem at UTEP and probably the entire IC ACE program. In fact, this was addressed in the Washington Post article, "Colleges Must Be Intelligent About Intelligence Studies" written by ex-CIA, professor of History, Nicholas Dujmovic. This was followed by a limited response from two UTEP professors entitled, "Can colleges teach intelligence? Three security studies professors argue they can, and should" I seriously suggest you READ BOTH. Pay special attention to the second follow up response comments. There are 14 comments including Dr. Dujmovic's timely response which adequately confirms my own beliefs and experience. as he correctly states, "professional academics, with little to no actual intelligence experience, who have an interest in perpetuating the degree programs they run." The additional comments are of equal merit as they brutally confront the apparent hypocrisy of the such academic programs from what genuinely appears to be INT insiders with both military and civilian intelligence experience. On a final personal note, I would like to express my disdain for the program's coordinator, Carmen B. Medellin whose has shown to be completely inconsiderate and rude to student needs and inquiries.Merauder

The school is good overall. They have enough classes so that people are not desperately trying to get registered for their class like they do in California. They have a wide range of degree programs you can choose. It is a commuter school, but still there is a lot of student life, activities and pride. University is what you make of it. You can go and leave each day without talking to anyone, or you can go and make lots of friends and join clubs making this the best years of your life. I read some of the comments that say that the professors don't answer questions and that they act like celebrities. I say talk to the dean, you are paying for your education they need to answer your questions. Of course don't be that person that tries to take over the class trying to feel smart asking question after question. Also there is a degree of learning that comes from in class teaching, but students also have to study on their own based on the guidance they get in class. How many hours do people really study? In regards to getting a degree, please don't get thousands of dollars into debt for a liberal arts degree unless you have some plan that will allow you to pay back your loans. It is no one but the students fault if they choose a useless degree. You guys should know what degrees will allow you to get a job after graduations and which ones are just going to look nice on your wall. At the end of the day, there are many Universities around the country, if you don't like it, go to another one or don't complain that you didn't get accepted anywhere else and you are stuck.Carlos Contreras

This University offers a beautiful campus. I enjoyed the scenery. On the other hand the University is awful. The structure and system of the University is poor. The staff within most departments lack knowledge. You are constantly being directed to different locations in order to resolve an issue. I wanted to change my major midway through the semester and I seriously had the worse time changing it. Let's just say, it is still the same major. I am unhappy at this University, the professors although some good, seem as if they just show in order to receive their check. My first two years, 70% of my professors were extremely anal and dealt with giving outrageous curves because the whole class was failing. The reason why everyone was failing was mostly because of the lack of teaching. Yes, it isn't always the professors but the students as well, I know, but when 95% of the class is below a 70, we have a problem. At this point I'd rather invest my money into a community college to rap up my basics. Give UTEP a try, but I am almost positive you won't be too happy.Austin Carson

Beautiful historic theater! However, the staffs insistence to purchase tickets thru Ticketmaster frustrated me as I could not access my tickets. I was also concerned I wouldn't get them by the date of the show. I made several attempts to reach Ticketmaster to no avail. I then called the Plaza Theater box office. They cordially informed me that I could get the tickets at the box office.. I wish the Plaza theater administrators would boycott the unprofessionalism of Ticketmaster & allow customers to purchase tickets directly through them. It's probably more cost effective as well. Came to see the Harry Potter symphony and it was the worst of what was supposed to be a great first experience. People were dressed in pjs and jeans, not how you would go dressed to an orchestra concert. People were walking in late. Too much talking, jeering, and clapping for every little thing as if the crowd had never seen the film. Simply put, El Paso has no class or grace. The husband and I went here a few times because I had to for a music appreciation class, but I was so impressed with how beautiful it was!! We saw a symphony orchestra. It was my first time, but we had such a wonderful time. We sat in the back left, but even from there you can see everything just fine. Tickets weren’t expensive either. This was an experience that you must try, there is not a bad seat in the house. The sound was amazing. The only down side is you can't go in early and there is no where to sit outside. Played as a guest. Golf course looks a bit rough. Almost every public course in the area has received no rain and isn't this dried out. Greens keeper was quite rude and demeaning to our group about keeping carts on paths which we already were. Shocking that an employee would speak to members or guests this way. Like many people now a days I don't frequent movie theaters but when I do visit them I try to enjoy my experience. The movie that we saw here was amazing, but the theater experience was lacking, the place was dirty, the food from the kitchen they have was incredibly high in calories and overall not great tasting. Service was what you expect out of a movie theater. When we got to our seats we noticed that there was soda spills on them, had to clean it ourselves. Bathrooms where also quite dirty with some stalls out of order. Overall it was an okay experience, it's what you would expect, nothing out of the ordinary. Some more maintenance to the theater would be much appreciated. Positives are comfortable seats and an inhouse arcade that helps the wait times feel shorter.S. Chang

Usually come here and have a pleasant experience with the family. You can't beat watching a movie on loungers. This location is for sure better than the one on Montana. I'm also glad to see the movie theaters are starting to get more traffic. Last visit was for Dr. Strange. It's amazing how audio can really ruin a movie. We were in 13. The audio was terrible. At times you would loose audio effects and the bass was non existent. It was disappointing. I did inform one of the workers there and they seemed to be responsive but nothing changed. I'm not an audio person but can certainly tell something was not right. Will still visit though since we are committed with their movie pass.Surge

We’ve been going to this movie theater since it opened back in 1997. We’ve never had any issues before tonight. Long story short, the assistant manager “Hernandez”, whom has no customer service skills, verbally insults me and even though he was completely in the wrong, my son and I were escorted off the property by police officers for standing up for myself. I finally was able to speak with the general manager, Ms Jensen, which didn’t matter. She was condescending and her facial expressions were showing a “whatever” type attitude. My complaint went in one ear and out the other. She did refund our money but the our family night was ruined. Save your money and stay home.Anthony lbarra

I’m at the dance recital on the east side new location and the announcer was saying yell if you are on the west side then east side. And then the girl has to ruin it by saying where are my Mexicans at? Like really? Was that necessary? No it wasn’t. Was that appropriate for the diverse group you have at your dance studio? First they changed the times and days on me knowing things were going to change and yet they didn't tell me, til after a signed a contact that they were NOT willing to help with. So we HAD to do a different class, than the one we signed up for. I must say I’m very disappointed in this! The staff is friendly but it’s very disappointing to the point I want to back out my contract! You would think when u invest in something and pay money u will at least hear something back! I started here about almost a year ago now and it seems to me that this place favors favorites. it's kinda sad to see that they don't treat everyone equally the instructors, have friends and favor those people the most I saw. Either your walk isn't good enough or your back isn't arched all the way back and it will never succeed the expectations of the instructors. To me each person that is signed up with their contract is just a dollar sign, collecting from bank accounts each month to sub-stain the companies reputation. We had an amazing experience at LAT! The teachers are very caring and it shows that they love what they do. Miss Stephanie is the absolute best – she puts her heart and soul into teaching and wants the very best for them. Many opportunities to perform (Sun City Thanksgiving parade, Halloween, Bassett Place, the Outlets, etc.) and fun places to travel to if you are on the competition team (Houston, Dallas, Albuquerque, Phoenix, Santa Clara, San Diego, Anaheim, and more). We spent 5 years here and are so grateful for the growth and experiences our dancer had. Thank you to all of the wonderful teachers and staff!A P

Food: 10/10 Looking at reviews the food can be “so so” sometimes. We got the loaded pulled pork fries, cheese curds, margarita pizza, and popcorn. It was all AWESOME. We also got two beers before the movie and two margaritas during the movie. All exceptionally delicious. Movie: 10/10 We enjoyed the movie. The volume was great, the brightness on the screen was good to go, and the visual was just as large as a standard movie theatre. Some folks have complained about noise outside of the theatre since it is a bar. It was noticeable at times but nothing crazy. Service: 10/10 From the bar tender to our server at our seats they were all wonderful. We could not have been happier. Price: 10/10 The tickets were 25 dollars, plus another 100.00 dollars for food and drinks for two. The economy has made things much more expensive, so we are all taking a hit. Honest review: I was so let down on my latest visit! I kept the rating high because I've enjoyed my previous visits pre-Covid. So we returned to Flix for the first time of their reopening to see the latest Fantastic Beasts movie and were super excited to support them again. We ordered Butterbeer and were told they were out, highly disappointed! So I ordered a Dr Pepper instead…that was flat (no carbonation). Ordered some Buffalo wings which were good. We later ordered popcorn but we never received it. By the time we figured they must've forgotten our popcorn we were fed up with our bad experience and finished the movie. To their mgmt: you all just reopened recently and you all are not ready for revenue. That's a shame on your part. You lost out on making money TWICE from us. Honestly wasn’t great. Theater was extremely hot for the whole 2.5hr movie. As such we were never comfortable. Service was very disruptive throughout movie. Bringing water that wasn’t ours, food that wasn’t ours and interrupting the movie to ask “did you order this”? Drinks we did order were fine (Rum and Coke and watermelon cider), at best, but the food was very good (Buffalo chicken salad). With that all being said, we do not plan to go back. We prefer a more traditional theaters. Ones that actually have air conditioning and doesn't have a persistent stream of servers in and out all throughout the movie. Great movie theater and love the Cinemark app features. Aside the 20% off concession discount, the concession delivery to seat, ordering ahead and picking up your concessions rather than wait in line, the theater is very clean and the staff is friendly. I will say though the concessions are a bit pricey and currently no free refills 🙈 not good for the popcorn lover lol. It was clean and made sure to make it comfortable for viewer experience. The theater I got was small, but perfect for this occassion. Wasn't much of a fan of the flavor of the popcorn since the popcorn had a lack of that good taste your looking for. The drinks were perfect and not watered down in this instance.wampy “wampy70” M

Awesome experience for a theatre, The Lucha Libre Theme makes it very unique. Very friendly bar staff with a great atmosphere to have a few drinks and relax. The theatre portion is just as amazing and very intriguing, lots of old movie posters line the hallways as you make your way to your theatre. Once in your theatre you will find the most relaxing recliners to sit and watch your movie. Bring a throw blanket, makes it more comfortable. The endless popcorn is just amazing, you can ask for extra butter, salt and is freshly popped, but seems the secondary popcorn dish that is brought out seems to be a bit stale, like it’s the old stuff. Getting full meals while watching your movie is just like being at home, the food choices are great and serving sizes are just right. The endless drink refills are a plus. Theatre wait staff are very friendly and fast. You can actually rent a theatre to watch your choice of movie during your very own party. The restrooms are pretty amazing, clean and comic wallpaper gives it its unique look and feel. A definite must experience!Ruben Juarez

This was our first time to Alamo Drafthouse. The decor is AMAZING! So much to see, you don't know where to look. Their hallways are decorated with classic movie posters and even their restroom was wallpapered with comic book paper! The theatre seats are really comfortable, although getting out of the seats can be trying– the side table on each seat really limits the space to maneuver your way out. The service is pretty good, although I think a little pricey. I thought $8 for popcorn and 50¢ per small pack of jalapeños was too much. Other theaters provide complimentary jalapeños. My husband and my GO-TO Date night place!!! Gluten Free people like me, please ask before going into the dark theater about anything on the menu! I got the cauliflower buffalo bites, not till after a bite did I realize it was breaded! Tasted like it was fried, and it did not end well. But they do have an amazing Pineapple cider!!! SO GOOD!!! The chips and queso are amazing as well! It is a bit spicy, but still delicious! Went for the Ghostbusters movie, it was very interactive and was a great experience! Now, I will start off by saying that it's a little harder to actually get to the theater, but not impossible when you're driving there. There's construction going on around it and that's only because they're planning to build a shopping center of some kind or something like that. Anyway, the theater itself is outstanding. I always enjoy seeing the posters of older Mexican films, makes the place really seem in touch with the Latino community. There's a bar inside (for anyone that hasn't been), to provide you with all your alcohol needs, as well as food service, the same food that's also served in the theaters, which I think is worth it for the price. The seats in the the theaters don't recline at this location, but they're still comfy nonetheless, which helps, especially with a long film. The service there is always incredible, I'm a little biased because I did work at the east side one, but even before I did, I always found the employees to be extremely friendly and some of the nicest I've encountered. They've got great events such as movie themed parties with props and sing alongs, trivia nights and special and local guests at booths as well as bands that perform in the theater which is awesome!! I love this style of theater because it has recliners, and enough space so you're not fighting for the armrest, even when it's packed. You can order more than basic concessions, it's essentially a restaurant, although the menu is a bit limited, however, that isn't really a negative. The beverage selection is excellent, including the alcoholic ones. The best part I've found is the Season Pass. It's $17, but you get one free movie per day (with a few exceptions), so going just a couple of times a month, it will pay for itself. I usually end up going a couple of times a week since I have no life. It's great for a date night, one stop dinner and a movie. Overall I highly recommend it, good food and good fun.Neil C.

Always a great visit! Went to see Top Gun. Great temp setting in theater. Good service while watching movie and before. Provides a very calm setting. No distractions during movie at all. We had strawberry shakes and a Ginger beer. Both were delicious!! Parking is convenient other than the construction in the front kinda hard to figure out. Once you drive thru that your good!! Good experience and great visit! Side note, after the movie was probably about 30 minutes from being complete, I ordered a strawberry shake, another one. I was told we could try a day on a Sunday to see if it was what we wanted to be a part of. When we arrived we were was forced to pay the $250 yearly fee to attend. After the session my daughter was not interested in joining the program. Laura pressured my daughter and made her very uncomfortable. I went by her store on Monday morning and was only able to leave a message for her to call me. After the day had passed, it was 4pm and I did not receive a phone call I called and it was an answering service that did not know why she had not called. I was only able to leave another message. I called again Tuesday morning and again only able to leave a voice mail this time. My wife then sent an email to request a refund and was told there were no refunds. We were told we could transfer the membership to another person. Not interested in sending someone else to this program, don't want the responsibility of them not being comfortable either. Needless to say, very poor customer satisfaction skills and would not recommend this program for anyone based on the customer satisfaction, or lack of.Mark Valverde

My son joined Laura's Productions around May of 2016. Since then he has gathered plenty of valuable experience on the runway, in front of a camera and in various commercials/billboard ads. You'll get out of this experience everything you put into it. If all you want to do is watch in class you might not make any gains. Participation is the key! The movie Beast would have been even more amazing if the nachos (2nachos one double cheese, twizzlers, 2 small drinks)we spent $30+ on would not have been stale with an October date on the bag and handing us a bag of jalapeño … when did this start …they were nasty. The movie theaters were clean and staff was friendly for our matinee viewing but the price of things at the movies to be nasty and still sell it anyway is mind boggling.Lé_ Kat

Pretty standard Cinemark experience in the city. The seats are comfortable and recline. The concessions seem fine, but the popcorn has that usual stale taste and feel that is normal nowadays. Unfortunately, this night, the lines were long, but the staff didn't open extra registers. Only two cashiers were available. It's a good overall experience, but hopefully they remodel soon. It feels outdated in a lot of ways.Armando Landin

BRING YOUR OWN BUTTER! Because they never have any. The movie selections aren't great (they could play more older movies). I have a membership, but I'll be cancelling that due to the butter and lack of movie variety. Also, their food selection and quality is horrible. The "Pizza Hut" pizza tastes nothing like the real thing.Carrera W

This theater is doing a disservice to its customers. There are NO Refills on large popcorn containers, although you are still charged a full price premium. Be prepared to spend more money due to this. Butter is only available if they put it on for you, so it is also limited. Be aware that if you are a butter lover you cannot be satisfied here. The theater is clean, and some of the staff were very welcoming. To be honest before I come back I would want the popcorn and butter options to be corrected. Theater popcorn and such is part of the experience when watching a movie, which is why they offer a very large bag as an exclusively to-go option.Clare Thomas

I go to alot of movies and that's probably one of the worst experiences I've ever had at a theater. I was in town for the weekend and decided to take my family out for the 10:45pm show of Jurassic Park. I spent over $100 on tickets. They were out of hot dogs, Iced Tea and of all things, ICE!!! 2 minutes into the previews, the power went out and movie was delayed 30 minutes. I understand sometimes power issues happen but the shortage at the concessions provides for a horrible movie experience after the amount that is spent. The manager did apologize for the power issues.Adrian Torres

This location during my visit had friendly staff, bilingual. I feel the location needs a better flow. Being the first time arriving for a moment we were confused about where to get(pay) the tickets. The boxoffice is inside to the right. Again this location feels it needs better flow because to get to the right room we had to pass through the concession stand/ snack place. They have rooms 1-7 on the left and 8- 10 to the right.evilneck

I was fortunate enough to participate in the production of Little Women through the guidance of the YOEP, specifically Mrs Kim, who has not only been a mentor for my daughter, but a guiding force in her musical journey. Her inspiration has made my daughter the musician she is today, and she has taught her far more than the public system has I highly reccomend her as a voice teacherLaura

I want to thank the Youth Opera of El Paso for the magnificent dedication to the children. Kimberly Nakamoto has been an excellent role model for my daughter. My daughter has been with her since 2012. She has been exposed to culture,traveling, and has represented the Youth Opera in other countries like Canada and Mexico. Thank you!Veronica Hernandez

That school shows no respect towards American holidays. The Mexican holidays come around and they decorate hallways even the teachers are dressed up for those holidays. The kids are always bullying other kids in front of the school and faculty does not do anything to fix the issue. I also do not appreciate how a faculty member are taking pictures of my daughter and posting them on Twitter. The pictures I see are always in the library. I did not give any authorization for that to happen. In my opinion that school is not under control and not disciplined.Joe Orozco

Hate it some teachers don't do their job to teach us middle schoolers.Especially last year This teacher named Ms. Lee don't even teach us,instead she would just give referrals for idiotic reasons liek our friend Brandon here almost got a referral for just tripping and almost falling,or just for asking for a pencil.Also there is racism some kids would be racist to each other.Emmanuel Martinez

Great School! My oldest son was there since it started. Now my other son that is now an 8th grader there is doing good in this school.
