First and foremost, Norwalk Community College was the first two-year college known since 1960, and they have been serving and assisting students in achieving the school readiness you have always desired but if you have struggled at some point. NCC will assist you in overcoming your obstacles to the point where you feel smart, confident, and accomplished. This college is my top choice because it is affordable, not overcrowded, has a super clean and safe building, and has no historically known hate crime in the area, which is an A+ in today's environment. There is plenty of parking, as well as the best tutoring center, which is a lifeline for students who want to improve their grades or need assistance with the curriculum. NCC carry the highest standard. They have the best tutoring service and professors who are committed to assisting students. All you have to do if you need help navigating any area at NCC is ask. It's a good starting school but extremely disorganized with idiots for employees. Dr Apple or apfel is a complete and total moron. She is so ungodly useless. She is extremely disorganized no wonder all of the students hate her. She wouldn't shake our hands because she said that's how germs are spread. Get rid of this delusional troll! She made an appointment for 12 and then when we got there said it was for 4pm. Um hello!? This school is so DISORGANIZED. If you're willing to put up with complete chaos for two years then go here. Either believe the previous reviews of 'smelling like poverty and cigarettes', or understand that community college is the last place to find a living, breathing example of the American Dream. On top of that, NCC is the most well-funded community college, the most prestigious, and has the highest share of incredible professors than any other community college in the region. But it won't motivate you to succeed. You have to do that yourself. And if you do not find that drive within yourself in time, do not blame the college for your shortcomings. I went to WCSU in The Woodstock 60's. It was so small then, a blip on the radar with only a few buildings for classes, but something wonderful happened. I was given special attention and sent to Yale University to audition for it's School of Drama and I was accepted. I was coached by a director, an English prof. and a Theater Arts instructor who taught English before there was a Theater Arts program at WCSU. Thanks to them, our tiny group of drama hopefuls had the opportunity to test run a real Off Broadway Play before it was cast. Our director was a friend of the Playwright. I had the lead in that production and thanks to that I was chosen to audition for Yale, and thoroughly coached by the team. Because of them I made it. I did not go to Yale due to personal issues but the point is that there were great people willing to go beyond the scope of their requirements and guide someone to the place where they could succeed. This University is like a breath of fresh air among the other CSU's, I would highly recommend, from the staff to the OpenClose program which sorts all the classes so neatly and nicely, to the overall atmosphere of the town itself (*thats also because many of the other state colleges/universities are put in very crime filled neighborhoods) WCSU makes its very easy as well to transfer taking ALL transfer credits from the other universities, as well as if your communication major like myself, they offer many classes over the summer to help you catch up or even to learn more. Also i'd like to put out that right now is like the golden age of the communication dept at WCSU literally every professor is awesome in one way or another, even the adjuncts are amazing and that's saying something (Petkanas, Eckstein, Lever, Murtha, Brower, Wiss, Tozzoli, Barone, Woodward just to name a few)Justin Quinn

Got my MBA here. The faculty is quite smart and is genuinely interested in your success. Specifically, the marketing, supply chain, and finance professors are top notch. If you get the opportunity to study abroad for Taiwan, which is available as an undergrad as well, absolutely do it. Amazing people to network with and friends that came out of class, overall very rewarding experience. The college has had notable difficulty with their health and safety as of the writing of this that took 1 star away from my rating. I spent a year and change at the school, but I'd go again if I found the need to go back to school.Eric

I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. Although the distance from my family is too long I feel like I've found a new place that I can call home for the next 7 years. I do not regret my choice.Leonardo Castiglioni

As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. To all the high school freshman posting reviews and rating AMDA 5 stars stop. You do not go there. Do not give it a bigger head than it already has. Attended in 2013-2014 would have been one star if it weren't for some (a few) wonderful teachers. (Stacy Lee, Kathy, Jeff, Tim,and Ray thank you) I am posting this review because they just posted an instagram post about 13 reasons why. They said check this out help is available. Would have been nice if that was ACTUALLY TRUE. However, if you have any sort of mental health problems you are told to grow up! (By teachers AND THE DAMN COUNSELOR) you are told stories of how the show must go on fake it til you make it. If you cannot stop crying you are weak, and theater is just a hobby for you. The teachers name drop and make you feel bad about yourself for not being Jason Derulo.The only person who helped me get help was my acting teacher (god bless him), who sent me to the counselor who told me I was acting like a child and that I need to prioritize. "If this isn't for you you don't have to be here" I told him this is the most depressed I've ever been. No offer to find therapy near me. No weekly meetings. No follow up visit. He suggested I find a new dream. So I did but now I'm 25,000 dollars in debt after 9 of the worst months of my life. Like others have said AMDA is what you make it but if you have any sort of mental health issues don't count on getting any help. PS. The dorms have a large scary roach problem, pretty sure it used to be a mental hospital (how fitting) PPS. I can acknowledge that I learned a good deal in my acting and VPS classes. I joined AMDA NYC back in 2021 Fall. This school has changed my life. Incredible staffing who are all working professionals within the acting world and all are incredibly motivated, fun and inspiring. My time at this school has been nothing but positive thus far and, the school continues to get better and better. I have done my own reading into reviews and the bad reviews have definitely changed. I have seen things change here, I have seen things become progressively better for the students here at AMDA. AMDA has become much more of a supporting and safe environment for not just me but for everybody who needs it. You certainly learn a lot here, develop great connections with your teachers and get plenty of opportunities out here. I myself, am certainly glad that I chose this school. My daughter just graduated in Sept 2017 from NYC in dance. She had a very positive experience from start to finish! Starting with Elliott Kerr, Assistant Director of Admissions. Elliott did a nice job of answering all our questions and helping get all our paperwork completed. Our daughter loved all her teachers and has said through out her program, "this is the right school for me." Although my professors have been awesome, the university as a whole is horribly disorganized and mismanaged. The various staff of different departments are uniformly rude and uninformed. I've gotten wrong and/or misleading information on basic protocol literally EVERY SINGLE TIME I've spoken with someone (where do I submit work study requests? Can I still carry student insurance if I'm part-time?) Regarding the insurance, I was told "yes" by 2 different pople. HOWEVER, the answer to that is it's automatically cancelled when you register online for classes and it is received as part-time, so then you have to re-enroll as a new client at a higher rate. I found this out when I was trying to fill a prescription and after much investigation found out that my insurance had been cancelled. This is one of the MANY problems I've experienced with Southern administration. Equally as faulty, is the technology "services" that Southern uses. Windows 7 computers in the computer labs that take (no joke) 5-20 mins to log you on if there are more than 3 people in the room and remote printing that requires an installation on your laptop every time you want to use it. This is recommend since you'll otherwise sit for 20 mins for the lab computer to log on and then progress to opening and printing a file at the speed of dial-up. If you need to reach anyone (computing services, the bookstore) for questions, you'll be strained to find contact info outside of the (203)392-SCSU main office number. A detailed Google search rarely finds the phone numbers associated with specific offices. Most recently, for the past month as Southern has started the fall semester, their network has become so overloaded that the mail server periodically un-syncs all of my devices from their email (iPhone, Mac) so I don't get mail or know that an email I sent never actually sent, since it doesn't appear in ANY outbox or draft folder from any device. But since it happens off-and-on, as the SCSU network comes and goes as it pleases, I've not known about the missed emails until someone tells about a group email I missed. Lastly, and kinda most importantly, Southern's crap internet system occasionally doesn't recognize my password for Bannerweb, email, and Blackboard. Confoundingly, this doesn't occur on these applications all in one sitting. MANY TIMES I've sat and typed my password into Blackboard 5+ times and magically after repeated entries it suddenly works!!! Always had the same problem logging into "myscsu" and trying to get my email back online to the Southern server. Recommendation: If you're enrolling as a full-time undergraduate, I would HIGHLY recommend looking for a school elsewhere because you're DEFINITELY not getting your money's worth at this institution. Note: they also have no funding for student work study anymore, so don't count on that for extra money/tuition expenses. If you're taking classes part-time, for a job or continuing education, it will be a frustrating experience, but not a total waste of money. Botton line, I rated 2 stars because the professors and experiences with classmates have been awesome this past year, but the university as a whole is beyond frustrating.Jennifer Vollmer

im usually not the type of person to be negative and leave lengthy reviews but this is so necessary being that im so extremely disappointed with this school! I went for a tour in November of 2017 fell in love with the campus so I decided to apply as a transfer student in April of 2018! I sent in my fee waiver form April 20th I was told it takes 2-3weeks to hear back from the school, ok cool! here it is a MONTH later still no response, nor any communication to even let me know they've received my fee waiver form and that id be hearing from them soon or whatever the case may be just complete silence!!! not to mention the students that answer the phone are very rude and snappy! I withdrew my application and applied to Iona college! I applied with them got an acceptance letter, got my financial situation settled, paid my deposit all within a week, easy as 1,2,3 as it SHOULD be. Its an excellent school with a countless number of awards, i feel as though the process of applying to schools should be as easy and stress free as possible! Im extremely dissatisfied with my experience with this school it literally had everything I was looking for campus wise, but everything happens for a reason and being that Im going into the education field I've been told from numerous amounts of educators that im better off getting a job, with a degree from Iona under my belt. The purpose of this review is not to trash talk or to persuade anyone into not applying here but rather to allow others to be aware of what they may possibly come into contact with when applying to this school and perhaps a change can come about for the next student. : ) Blessings.Alexa Griffin

If I could give Southern zero stars I absolutely would. They are extremely unorganized, they don't care about you as a student AT ALL.. They cancelled a BIO class that I really needed a week before classes start. I emailed the head of the department asking for a solution and all I got was a too bad.. Now because of this I have to attend an extra semester and will not be graduating in time.. They offer classes at odd times which makes it hard for you to sign up for classes back to back, so far the professors I had don't care about you and are not understanding.. I graduated from Western Connecticut and I never had a problem with them and now because of Southern I have to spend more of my time and money that I don't have…Barbara Monteiro

A small school but they have strong roots in the community and are definitely a household name. Time at Paier is more than being assigned a number like at a state school. When I started at Paier I was assigned a number but everyone knew you by name that included the entire office staff and the owners of the school. I actually had to go in my senior year to ask for my student number because in Paier they are obsolete. In large colleges you are a number first and a name second but at Paier you are family.Matthew Ross

Two of our kids have attended Hopkins and we are blown away by the rigor and scholarly seriousness of the school. The kids are engaged in college-level work by the end of sophomore year and the faculty are really plugged in to each kid. Learn from the best. When I was 19 years old, I was accepted to the Lee Strasberg Theater Institute. It was the highlight of my life at the time. The great teachers back then were Harv Dean and David Gideon. I went to school here part time for 9 months to learn acting at its very basic. If you can afford going to the school and want to learn acting from the aspect of the instrument, then I highly recommend going here. The most important thing I learned from this school, is that even if you attend the classes and do your scene work, you need to be out pounding the pavement and looking for work in the industry, an agent and possibly a manager. I would not call the school glamorous but it does show great pride and respect for people who walks through their doors. If you are serious about acting and show business, this is the place to be. Although I am old enough to be the GRANDmother of most of the students, I had the honor to chat with Lee Strasberg himself, one morning, years ago. He spent nearly a half hour on the phone with me – a total stranger. I had acting aspirations back then (I am a freelance writer today). And I have never forgotten his generosity, wisdom, and graciousness to me – someone he would never meet in person. I love stopping by whenever I can, to donate theatre books, costume pieces, and just sniff around who's doing what. Ever since they opened the creek has been so busy and noisy at night and on weekends. Busses come in and are loud, smelly and inconsiderate of the residents. They idle in the parking lot for nearly an hour and the noise/fumes are disgusting. Plays get out late on weekends and noisy people getting out of the play are disruptive. I've complained to the puppet house and nothing was ever done. I guess it's time to bring this to the attention of the board and the selectman.Weatherfox

I was looking for a school to send my 10 year old daughter who loves acting, singing and dancing and was lucky to find New Haven Academy of Performing Arts! She has been involved for only a few weeks now and absolutely loves it! My daughter is working with Stephani and Mr. Neil and cannot say enough great things about them. It makes me so happy to hear all of the great things that she tells our family and friends about NHAPA. Yesterday my daughter participated in the Halloween Spooktacular which was an incredible event. It was thoughtful, creative, fun, interactive and so much more than other productions that my daughter has participated in with other organizations. My son, has been going to New Haven Academy of Performing Arts (NHAOPA), for years n there is no other place I could EVER imagine sending him!! The teachers are absolutely whole-hearted, genuine n go above and beyond for the children! We started with summer camp n it has grown into more! Singing, acting n the very BEST part, is my son (n so many other children) feel that NHAOPA, TRULY is home away from home!! I have NEVER felt so unbelievably grateful that not only is my son learning so much but, he has gained so many friends!! What a wonderful hidden gem. We took our son here for a sensory friendly production of Godspell. The staff, crew and cast were fantastic and friendly. It was a free show but you wouldn't have known. Everyone extended every courtesy to us and everyone else there. The theater is clean, comfortable and every seat is a good one. It's out of the way in Ridgefield but if you like theater I highly recommend it. It's rare that I think to write a review. This place is just so ridiculously good. I feel so privileged to have this place here and spoiled whenever I walk in the door. I'd typically call someone out by name if they were amazing but everyone here is amazing from the second you walk in the door. Excellent food, excellent service. Stage one is a great, intimate, setting to see a band. You can't get any closer to the music. We saw "GLAD: the music of Traffic" and it was an amazing experience of listening to musicians who are at the top of their profession, just doing what they love. Mark Rivera, Jeff Kazee and Rich Pagano are all fans of Traffic and it shows. I would definitely see it again. Nice historic venue in downtown Bridgeport. Cozy and intimate setting … cabaret style with traditional seating area and some small table seating as well. There really isn't a bad seat in the house! We simply can’t say enough about our extraordinary experience at Crystal Theatre. Our daughters attended summer camp and continued on through “Land of the Midnight Sun” shortly after. The schedule and expectations were always clear, the roles were well cast, and the scripts themselves, written by Cheryl, always communicated an uplifting and appropriate message for kids. We loved that the costumes were created and housed by the group as well, there was never a frenzy for finding this kind of shirt or that kind of shoe, because it was all so well coordinated. Our girls learned to be a part of something positive where they were neither center of the world nor feeling like an irrelevant side piece, the “air time” for all of the kids was so reasonable. They gave their absolute best and enjoyed doing so because they saw the passion and commitment that came from the leadership. The girls grew tremendously both on and off the stage, they can express themselves so much better in public, and I attribute all of that to the program. Land of the Midnight Sun was a magnificently stellar production. The staff really know how to provide the actors with a fun experience they'll want to return to, combined with the cultivation of a theatre work ethic that can be applied to all areas of life. Working purposefully together while having a great time. An original Crystal Theatre production, Land of the Midnight Sun tells the story of the transformative powers of love and courage through captivating scenes of humor, drama, adventure, music, and dance. My 7-year-old daughter attended two weeks of camp at the Crystal Theatre this summer. Both weeks of camp were very different experiences but equally fantastic. My daughter was excited to go every single day which is not typically the case with other camps she has done during the summer. She usually begs for a day off at some point during the week. Unforgettable experience! Very talented actors and amazing decorations and awesome play. The prices are okay (60-90$ for adults)but it is totally worth the spent money. There are a lot of kids who take part of play. And they do it so good so I have no idea how adults train those kids but it is so interesting to watch their play. The costumes are adorable. I am amazed by this wonderful Christmas Carol play and wish to come to Hartford again with my kids in future. Thank you!Viktoriia Kostiuk

Saw The Mousetrap by Agatha Christy. It was our first show there in years and what a treat! The set, lighting, and actors were engaging. The theater is also well organized with excellent seats at reasonable prices. Getting drinks is also well organized with the option of ordering ahead. We are now season ticket holders. Nice way to see some great productions at good prices. I'd say there didn't seem to be any bad seats either. I probably wouldn't want front row because your at eye level with the stage, but even the side seats had good views. Very clean. Helpful staff. I'll definitely be looking at future shows! When you sign your kids up for summertime camp you expect the theature to focus on the fun factor, which did not happen for my two girls. By the third day, my kids didnt want to go back. My neighbors had a similar experience with their kids as well. Instructors were nervy and strict. On the first day we dropped off the kids, one instructor was already planning a martini at the end of the day implying they were already stressed out …and the day hadn't even started. That was a red flag. They wouldnt honor a refund even though we only used a couple of days out of a 3 week program. No phone response, no email response as well. I find that unacceptable. I would never treat my clients like this. I would never go back to this theatre. Terrible experience and this is my firsy negative review ever posted on google. They get 1 star for smiling at the door when you walk in.Antique Purveyor

We are so lucky for having this high quality performing arts school with 5 stars professionals to guide our children on their journey of learning and discovering of their talents. My daughter has been in their provram since she was 3 years old and the passion she had developed for dance is very inspiring.
