Ursuline College states the college has the highest academic and graduation rate in their nursing program. Ursuline College is not the only nursing program where students are learning their curriculum on becoming a successful nurse. I've known previous and current students who have graduated from other schools that offered the nursing program for an Associates or a Bachelors degree, and have moved on to successful careers at major hospitals in the greater Cleveland area. My experience here in my first semester has been a disaster. On my very first day, I attended a class called First Year Semester, and I had to drop out of it because during a group session with Dr. Johnson who literally accosted and debased me right in the front of the class, all because I expressed my opinion on the challenges of being flexible when you're working and collaborating with your peers. That has left a very bad taste in my mouth. I am eager to step away from this college, so I can resume my studies elsewhere. Beautifully landscaped in suburban Cleveland, this Catholic college offers degrees with a distinguished reputation. Recommend the dorms be renovated; however, all other buildings on the college campus are utilized efficiently or re-purposed. The Ursuline Sisters of Cleveland reside on the grounds in their Mother House. A tour is a must to really appreciate this collegiate gem in the realm of women's higher education.Krista Thomas

Love the professors and the classes are interesting and engaging, the staff is beyond nice and even the strangers too! I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. I stared with Herzing back in 2013 for my undergrad BSN RN. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. This year I came back for my MSN FNP and let me tell you ))) My experience with Herzing in 2019 is absolutely amazing. This school grew so much! Lots of support, any time you need it, everyone is very attentive and friendly. You still have to do a lots of studying, but isn't what we came here for? Veteran Review: I attended COTC and graduated with an Associates in Nursing. I can say that it was very cumbersome to attend COTC as a veteran. I utilized my Tuition assistance and needed to "push them along" the entire way. Every semester I had to contact veterans affairs and tell them what I needed them to do to approve TA. My understanding is that they needed prompted in every way and every time I needed something completed to allow me access to my tuition assistance. This includes having to pay for a semester out of pocket do to their delay in assistance and lack of ability to complete my necessary needs on their own. From my understanding, they should understand this. I am currently attempting to apply for my bachelors 2 semesters later and I am unable to receive tuition assistance, because COTC has not submitted my graduated status to TA and I am unable to attend classes as a consequence to said incident. All said and done: If you are a veteran, be prepared to coax COTC along to get what you need.SSG Ben Moran RN

I had a very close immediate relative die during summer semester. When my immediate relative had a stroke, I did not notify my professors on the matter. Sorry, my thoughts are not on telling my online professors about my relative bleeding in the brain. My time was spent in the hospital, hospice, and at work. I missed a few assignments but notified my professors at my earliest convenience. The work was completed. Professor Sample for PSY-210-NA failed me on multiple assignments, accused me of plagiarizing from a blog, and is the reason I will not be graduating this semester from COTC. The plagiarizing accusation is because I had "similar sentences of a blog post." What a joke. Never take a class as Professor Sample as your professor. Do yourself a favor and just go to a different school. I will NOT be going back there. President Coe and other faculty members at COTC I contacted did not help in any matter. Of course, they took the side of Professor Sample.Adam A

I… HATE… COTC! Its the nightmare that will never end. My husband leaves for the military in one week… His recruiter needs his college transcript, so that he can get a higher ranking, more pay and one of the jobs he wants. All he needs is the transcript. We went in on the 22nd and paid extra to have the transcript sent. They told us they would send it out that day or the next. Well today we saw his recruiter and he STILL hasn't received the transcript. We went into COTC and had to talk to them AGAIN about this. Oh did I forget to mention that when my husband first started seeing his recruiter, he paid extra to have his transcript and then they handed it to my husband, therefore making it unacceptable to the Air Force. This is not even close to the first problem either of us has had with them. Oh, maybe you all should check out there 'graduation rate.' Less than 20 percent of people even graduate! A majority of the positive reviews on this site are biased and are from the staff. Please, heed the warnings that you see here. Some of these positive comments come as a result of the staff coercing someone to post a positive review. Please, do not believe the positive reviews – for the sake of your wallet and academic progress. Coming to this college was nothing but a huge waste of time and money. By far the worst college ON THE PLANET. Please, go anywhere else but here. A lot of the credits do not transfer, the staff is rude and doesn't care about you, and a professor at Sinclair told me that they consider these classes to be sub-standard. Don't waste your time or money. The only thing they care about is your money. I understand that you may want to attend a community college because it's cheaper, but do keep in mind that you only get what you pay for and at clark state that isn't much! Low tuition fees = low quality institution. The professors are not here because they want to ensure the success of their students. They're here to collect a paycheck and enhance the appearance of their resumes.John S

It is so incredibly difficult and annoying trying to contact ANYONE at Clark State. Trying to speak with anyone at all via phone during normal business hours during the day on a normal weekday is just a string of voicemail after voicemail and no one ever calls back. The only way to accomplish anything, even having a simple question answered, is to physically go to the school and deal with someone directly. And even then, probably 90% of the staff are not helpful and talk to you like you are incompetent. I am finally finishing up my 2 years at Clark State in order to get the classes that I need to transfer into a 4 year school. It has been a constant battle to get anything done at this school. The teaching staff HAS been very helpful, but the staff that work in the offices (testing center, records & registration, cashier's office) are so condescending it is unbelievable. After spending thousands of dollars every semester to attend classes here, you would think the staff would be just only SLIGHTLY more respectful.Alisha Scott

My daughter has been trying to reach out to Clark to attend this Fall and NOBODY has returned her messages or calls. So I decided to check into the ratings on this community college. After reading some of the reviews with low ratings I’m understanding why Clark will not return my daughters calls or messages. I’m willing to try one more time in the hopes of getting an explanation. However, if I cannot get a hold of anyone, then I will take it that this is my sign that Clark is obviously NOT the college for my daughter. I would rather look for another college for her to attend with a much better education. if Clark cannot get their stuff together to return messages and called to students that are wanting to attend a hen how can they have their stuff together to teach students. I pay thousands for my child to live in a glorified closet with a bunch of strangers (living in the dorms is required of course) and then I find out that there is basically no laundry here. The dryers don’t work. We’ve made complaints, my daughter has submitted maintenance requests, and still nothing. The best they can do is put an out of order sign on the machines and call the problem fixed. Apparently they occasionally remove the signs despite nothing being fixed. I can’t imagine how frustrating it is to leave your clothes in the dryer for an hour only to come back to a soggy pile of clothes. If it’s the dryer company to blame, then get a new company, but until then I would consider finding a loophole to live off campus or go somewhere else.Regina Pycroft

Great campus with many great programs! I have multiple friends who go here and they all seem like they are excelling compared to myself! Their aviation program seems like it is one of the best around and have multiple friends going here for that reason! I have also heard very good things about the education majors. The campus is very safe and really well laid out. The buildings look very modern! Downtown has very nice places to eat, hang out, shop, and party! The wifi is a tad slow and I'm not sure why, but it is livable. The weather is very cold in the winter because of wind and the landscape being so flat, but they do have public transportation to get to classes and other buildings/ places.Collin “A1C Sherwood” Sherwood

Sunday after Christmas took a nostalgic campus tour. It was great, no one was around and I could just stroll about. Started counting new buildings, that have appeared since my days on campus and decided it was easier to count the one that I knew, that were still there. Even my old dorm was gone! South Hall, my speech and theatre homebase was renamed. But get this, the Bursar's building was gone too, if they would have asked I would have helped tear that one down. The advancements in technology and convenience that have amassed since I graduate in 1985 really changed the place. Proud to be a Falcon!!!!!!!!Ed McMasters

Horrible school. I attended the school for about 2 years and have a better experience at the DMV. I was told in high school by a Cincinnati State that my credits would transfer from Cincinnati State to University of Cincinnati seamlessly – they did not. In fact when I went to UC, they stated they could accept me as a transfer student but none, zero, NADA – of my credits would transfer. I applied to Miami University (Ohio) and was able to have 3 classes transferred. Miami was also cheaper at the time than Cincinnati State. I had to start all over from scratch after 2 useless years at Cincinnati State. The staff at Cincinnati State, including the teachers, were low quality. Staff seemed to brush off any concerns you have. Asking for help? Only the minimum is provided to guide you in the direction you need. Teachers mostly seemed to be low quality and bottom of the barrel – I only had 2 teachers that were okay out of 2 years. A few teachers I was able to show issues with tests or exams – although they agreed that I was correct at the time, one refused to fix the exam grades for everyone because "That is what the test key answer is and she would have to go back and regrade all the tests"… Sorry? That is literately your job… The next teacher could not understand the wording of their own test question that they provided (online) and would not correct the answer for the students. I communicated this error via email and was pushed away. I pushed back stating the teacher was incorrect and provided the work as to why the answer was wrong, in a professional tone. The teacher responded unprofessionally by changing the color of the text in the email to red, downplaying my proof, not using punctuation, and using unprofessional language. I dropped the class as this is not a teacher in my eye; but someone who is there for a paycheck. Cincinnati State had a graduation rate of just over 12% when I attended. 12% of students graduate from this school…. For the 2019 year it is now 17.9%. The odds of you attending this school for 2-3 years and graduating are very low. You are better off attending a real college if you are serious about your future. The overall poor quality as well. I have never experienced so many arguments between teachers and students in a classroom before. After class is over, everyone leaves campus immediately unless they have another class within the next hour or so. The current ad campaign that is on TV does not portray the school correctly. The average age of students is middle age. There is very few labs due to limited budget. Little to no student engagement events. Printers were not free. Book store was a COMPLETE ripoff, some classes did not require the book due to costs. Teachers would not communicate to students about schedule changes in tests and exams effectively for online classes (I missed my final Physics exam due to this). Save 2 years of your life and go somewhere else. I am not the only one with a really bad experience. If you know someone that attended or attends Cincinnati State, talk to them. You will typically find they did not graduate or they think it is okay but plan to transfer to another school before they finish. My experience at Cincinnati State was something of a mixed bag. I had previously attended a 4-year university but was seeking a career change. Given the low cost of attendance that community colleges provide, I figured that Cincinnati State would be a great option. My first year of studies were great. I had some very kind professors who genuinely cared about the students and the material that they taught. Some faculty members could be a bit rude at times, but that is to be expected in higher education. After my first year, I truly felt like I was on the way to great success. My second year on the other hand turned out to be quite the opposite. During my first semester back from co-op, I received notification that I had been dropped from two classes without explanation. Upon reaching out to the registrar, I was told to contact my program chair/advisor. Upon reaching out to my advisor, I was not given any guidance. I felt like I was really left to my own devices to try to figure out how to schedule my classes. In addition, I found the teaching quality to be quite disappointing. In the one class that I was able to take that semester, my professor did not once hand out a syllabus or explain the grading rubric. I persistently asked him when grades would be given back, and he would give me a specific date. Only once did he ever give back grades on said date. The rest were given at the end of the semester, thus leaving all students in a state of anxiety over what our final grade would be. He stressed the importance of attendance and punctuality but was hardly ever on time for class. On some occasions, he even made me late to work because class would run over. For these reasons as well as the problems mentioned earlier about the administration, I decided not to return to Cincinnati State. In short, Cincinnati State is a good option for those seeking a low-cost education, and there are some great programs and professors here. However, the unorganized and highly bureaucratic administration combined with some exceptionally unprofessional professors keep the school from being as great as it could be. My review was removed probably by google because I mentioned that I don’t appreciate how their curriculum is trying to indoctrinate you. It’s other wise a good school. I got my degree in two years and had no problems. The instructors for my program were great. But it’s absurd in my opinion that a college feels the need to assert their opinions in to every core class. My English class was consistently wanting us to watch TED talks that talked about political standpoints. My sociology professor was the absolute worst. Even if you did an assignment and followed the rubric, but disagreed with her opinion, she would give you a lower score. Then try to justify it by using her own opinion as sources. She also said that anyone who believes in God is likely uneducated. Overall, my experience was good and I’m glad I got my degree here. But it’s just too liberal for my taste.Britt Jones

I am an alumni. B.S. Chemical Engineering 2008, M.S. Biomedical Engineering 2012. I chose CSU as my undergrad school over Case Western because Case is ridiculously expensive and I received a full scholarship to CSU. My mother told me I could choose whatever school I wanted but if I passed the scholarship up for 40k+ a year in debt she would kill me. Thanks mom, you were right as always! The Chemical and Biomedical Engineering departments are outstanding. Great faculty, small class sizes, professors that legitimately care about the students but also won't put up with BS from students that aren't taking their own (or their classmates') education seriously. The head of the BME department at the time had a major impact on my life. He personally took interest in helping me get a full scholarship during the second year of my M.S. (Choose Ohio First scholarship), helped me land a Teaching Assistant position AND a fantastic internship. THANK YOU! CSU is not perfect though. I had some bad professors (and also excellent ones) in the math and physics departments. That is hard to avoid at any school. Many of the school departments are much, much bigger than mine so you may lose some of the personal interest from professors when your graduating undergrad class is more than 12 like mine. I tried to make use of the career center multiple times but they were not helpful in job searching. Also the Fenn College of Engineering (now the Washkewicz College of Engineering) building is woefully old and dated. It's so bad that in my second year in 2006 a metal fence had to be put about 10 – 15 feet in front of the building facade so no one would be injured by the crumbling concrete. I wish I was joking. The engineering labs were also filled with old equipment, the classrooms were missing technology that is standard in other schools like projectors. Note that this was all before the very generous donation from Mr. Washkewicz so I hope things have improved. The only other complaint I have is that my graduation requirements changed a couple times during my B.S. and I had a VERY difficult time finding out if I was on track for graduation. In fact I wasn't sure that I was going to graduate until I got confirmation about a month before graduation! Even with these complaints I had a great experience at CSU, which is why I went back for my M.S. after briefly considering Ohio State University. It was my professors and department that made the decision easy, they had a great positive effect on my life and I owe a lot to them.Jim

I'm a business student currently in my third year at CSU (transferred from Kent State) and have nothing but good things to say about this school. The campus is beautiful and right in the center of Downtown, giving you easy access to tons of interesting things to do in Cleveland. The general vibe of the campus is very laid back and friendly, and despite what other reviews seem to say, this is a very liberal/progressive and diverse school with many students of all walks of life. I feel I have received a perfectly adequate education at CSU, as someone who cares mainly about getting ready for a career and moving into the business world. There are good professors and bad ones, but the majority of them have been very likeable and knowledgeable. Many of my business professors have lots of real world experience and many years working in their field. I cannot comment on the other departments, but the business school is excellent and has many career services available to students. As a commuter student I love the RTA pass they provide, so I don't have to worry about driving and parking downtown (yes, their parking situation is pretty terrible here). Finally I'd like to say shame on the idiots who are giving my school 1-star reviews because of a faux pas made by the administration. The first amendment comment was misinformed, but it's far from supporting the offensive poster. Anyone trying to paint CSU as anti-LGBTQ because of that poster debacle is ignorant.Steven Barnes

I love Cleveland State. I am a biology pre-med major and the department is great. However, if you live in the dorms, don't plan on getting your mail anytime soon. It takes at least 10 days added on to the normal mail time to receive any type of letter or package. I ended up just getting a P.O. box at a local post office. The education and clubs are great. There are so many great opportunities here to take advantage of. I would definitely recommend this school to anyone who wants to live in the city and get a great education.Madison Chapanar

Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

This college has frequent issues with their website when turning in or doing assignments. Return books to bookstore that you rent, and they "misplace" some, and charge YOU for it. No one fixes it…. Hard to get in touch with everyone. No way to work on a time frame with this college with issues with websites, and no way to get in contact with ANYONE you need to regarding logging in, assignments, registering, financial aid etc. etc. Last time i signed up everything took so long classes had already started for a whole week while i was still trying to get set up for each class. The FIRST day i was on the class page to try to catch up the teacher gave me a 0 on my first several assignments… EVEN THOUGH… I stayed up late the day I registered and got my books and tried to work toward catching up… I want to go back to college, but I don't think this is the one to be in…Amanda Arnett

The bookstore is horrible. The employees, not the student employees, were terribly rude. They did not give me all the textbooks I ordered online and it took 3 people and yelling for them to finally understand that they did not give me the access code. I even brought back the receipt and my actual order confirmation. They lied and argued with me about my order being fulfilled and held for me. Unless the problems are resolved, I will be leaving my review at what it is. I started at Terra in January 2019 and currently still enrolled. At this time, I just want to finish and graduate. When I first met with Terra, my advisor was rather "pushy" which I'v dealt with before, no big deal. The thing that stood out though was that she had to tie her success's into every little thing, and not in a good way. She bragged more than she used the information to make me feel better about trusting her. Her tone, to me, implied that she knew more than I and I just need to do as she says. Something I couldn't quite understand though is how none of my credits from Stautzenberger College could transfer. There's quite a few classes I had to re-take because of it. How does nothing transfer from such a highly accredited school like Stautzenberger? Upon showing my schedule to my husband, who had also had scheduling problems at a different college prior, he pointed out some flaws. How was I being scheduled for classes that I hadn't taken the "pre-reqs" for yet? I was also being scheduled for classes during times that they weren't even available. I had also been told that I was looking to graduate Spring of 2020, possibly summer depending on internship and when I decided to do it but because there were classes that I couldn't take when I was scheduled for them, I actually wouldn't have graduated until Spring 2021. Then later finding out that there was a class I NEEDED to complete before even doing my internship, something I wasn't told about either until now. I reached out to this advisor and didn't receive an e-mail back until weeks later, after I sat down and completed my schedule MYSELF. I have half a dozen other students in 1 out of the 6 classes I'm taking that have had similar or exact problems with the same advisor. Flash forward to financial aid. My paperwork was sitting in the "finished" pile while it was actually incomplete. This wasn't realized until I went to the financial aid office in person to find out why nothing was being posted so I could get my bill paid and schedule summer classes. They had been sitting there for weeks. Okay, frustrating but mistakes happen. However, the other morning, I woke up to an email from FAFSA that corrections have been made……on my schools behalf. I logged into my portal and see that the Pell Grants that have been listed for weeks now and that I was TOLD I was going to get (by the same gentleman who left my paperwork sitting unfinished for weeks) for summer and fall are no longer there and everything turned to un-subsidized loans. I reached out yet again (side note: getting quick responses from financial aid OR admissions when you have a problem is extremely difficult), to which I finally did get an e-mail back. In a real short sentence, he apologized, said he had made adjustments that was actually an error on his part, and went back in to adjust it, I should see my grants back up in a few days. Another email this morning, changes again, back into my portal, absolutely nothing has changed. 2019/2020 FAFSA was done, completed and filed, why go back in and make any changes period. Plus, where is the communication? I would love to understand what is going on with MY financial aid and MY classes but nobody seems to want to help and explain anything. I could very well not be entitled to any Pell Grant, but that needs to be communicated with me and told why it's changed even after I had already received them in an award letter. I am beyond tired of this run around. The stress and extra effort are completely unacceptable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is the fact that unlike my last college, I feel MOST of these professors actually care about my education and me as a human. Update: after a couple weeks of back and forth, the Pell Grants finally posted. However, an issue I was having with my online classes can't really be traced to anything specific. I was actually booted from one of three classes then had to be re-added, and almost booted from another but nobody seems to know why.Heather Myers

Poor…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….They make it very difficult if you are a busy adult (no online or phone registration/deregistration for 1st time students). The tuition is low, but the headaches you will get from the college (applying, registering, high book fees, travel to the middle of no where) make it not worth the price. I have a 4 year Bachelor's Degree and work 40 hours a week in a professional job. I'm also working towards a 2nd Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems by taking evening/online/summer classes. I filled out a application, paid a application fee, and had it in 5 weeks before the start of classes. I was never sent a acceptance letter, phone call, or any information on registering for classes. I was never given a password to apply online. I called the Registration Office several times, but was met with a answering machine. My phone calls would be returned a day or more after I left them. They would leave voicemail messages while I was working. Eventually they told me I would have to get registered in person since I was a first time student. All first time students can only register in person even if you are only taking evening classes part time. I applied to Owens, North Central State, Marion Technical, and Terra for different computer information systems classes. North Central State and Marion Technical are way cheaper and you will be able to talk to a person over the phone. Owens College has the same quality classes for the same price with less hassles.Matthew Clark

I'll give one example of many of why this school is the worst decision you can make in your educational career, today I called for my transcripts and the manager there who name was mark was so idiotic that he didn't even know how to log on to check my transcripts, when he couldn't figure it out he claimed that the school actually can't check the transcript (lol) and that I had to go to a government agency called "student records clearing office" to get the record, all sucking on a lollipop. The sad part was I knew this was going to happen right before I called lol….. Most of these reviews are fake 5 star ones, so I will give an honest review. The staff of this school are uneducated and have no idea how to function in their positions, they are also extremely lazy and disorganized to the point where it is like something out of a movie, they are actually infamous for this and everyone who calls in tells the manager the same thing. The office may also charge you extra and create mistakes for you, I actually personally experienced and had to call to get the fee removed ( I actually educated their financial aid manager on how to actually calculate fees, he apologized and admitted his mistake and then never removed the fee).A Sayed

BW provides a well rounded education. With that being said, your program of study will most likely consist of general education courses. BW degree programs usually do not provide a focused study on your major. Instead, the focus is liberal arts. I attended BW for a short time and majored in Criminal Justice. During that time I discovered that most of the classes for my major had little to nothing to do with Criminal Justice. They were mostly liberal arts courses. This is true of many other degree programs. No matter what your major, you will only take a few classes that are actually relevant to your major. In summary, if you enjoy a small campus atmosphere, if you are satisfied with a degree that does not provide a focused study on your major, if you want some prestige on your degree, and if you are willing to spend $900 per credit, then Baldwin Wallace is certainly the place for you.Tracer Films

It's a good school and the campus is really nice. Best thing is probably the professors. I loved 95% of my professors. Worst part of the school is the surrounding area. It's pretty boring, but then again, that's not why you're going. Also, the weather sucks, but for a smaller school it has a lot to offer in the way of activities.Cortney Zeiler

My daughter went to BW and we couldn't have asked for a better college. You are not just a number, the staff is very helpful and caring. I went to OVCT for the MA program. My experience at OVCT was very positive. My number one concern when going to school is knowing that if anything happens they will have my back and during all the situations I went through when attending school they were there to help me out and accommodate my classes so it would be easier for me to finish them without having to drop out school. The staff and instructors are very nice and they help everyone in any way they can. They are kind and friendly and your success is there number one priority. I would drive 1 hr to school and 1 hr back home but it was worth it because I wouldn't find a school with such amazing people near my town. With a person like me with social anxiety and having English as a second language completing a program like Medical Assisting is really a success but I also know that I wouldn't be able to finish the program without the help I received from OVCT.Dejanira Cosme

The nursing program admission process is very easy and Donna will help you to understand the process and all of the requirements to get into the program. Becca will help you to get all of the financial aid requirements completed to get your education funded. All of the nursing instructors are great! They spend alot of time helping the students and assuring that we fully understand the many different topics covered throughout the program. Ohio Valley College of Technology is a great place to learn. Everyone of the Instructors are always willing to help. I have encountered a few instructors that have gone over an above to help myself as well as other fellow students to succeed. I appreciate all that they do and am very greatful for them. I have been a student at Herzing since September of 2018 and I have watched that school go down hill. They can not keep consistent nursing instructors and have to make changes to student schedules 2 days before classes start. When they know most of their student population are parents with the majority of us being single parents that work and go to school. But they have made it abundantly clear that they do no support students unless they have money to pay out of pocket. I have watched faculty that has been there since I started grow more and more stressed with the “behind the scenes” politics that go on inside the school. I have watched instructors walk out the door and not look back. Herzing advertises that they are family oriented and all of that but it’s all a joke. They hired the nursing chair to add “ diversity” among the faculty. They have students file complaints on instructors because some of the instructors and other faculty is the rudest people I have ever met. They claim to be a nonprofit organization but have increased cost of tuition twice in just under two years. Oh and don’t have nothing go wrong in your personal life when you fail a class because they don’t care. You can have plan after plan but it won’t be enough for them to let you finish your program when you only have one semester left. This school has been the biggest waste of money and time of my life. I use to enjoy going to school in the mornings I loved the things that I got to learn on a daily basis.. but as their instructors left so did my pride in the school. They do not follow any of the standards that they hold their students to. They don’t educate you if you make a mistake they reprimand you and fail you. They will show you over and over again that you success means nothing to them.. they just want the paycheck.Misty Romigh

Recommended for real people that have real lives and real responsibilities. I attended the online program for my bachelors and masters degrees in nursing, though there is a stand alone campus here in Akron. I was able to attend both programs full time and I will consider returning when it's time for any post-masters certificates. The admissions department was easy to work with and did not use tactics that made me feel pressured or rushed with deciding to enroll and then re-enroll for my advanced degree. The professors were as helpful as they could be and did everything they could do to prepare me to pass my certification exam (which I did on the first attempt!). The resources that we were provided surprised me because they were so accessible and effective. Lastly, the very important behind the scenes staff-accounts, student services and advisors, library, and tech support were amazing. They always addressed my concerns within a timely fashion and what was not known, they sought out an answer and closed the loop for me. My student services advisor (Meaghan G.) continued to answer questions in this same manner even after I completed the program. Thank you to all of the staff. A challenging journey could have been worse without all of your support and efforts!H M Q

Save your money and time!!!!! Students don’t mean anything to them besides a hefty paycheck. They will side on the faculties side every time. The nursing chair is the biggest joke of all the faculty and is the most unprofessional person I have encountered at the school. Some professors care and want you to learn the material, while others play favoritism among students. Don’t worry about signing the syllabus, addendum, nursing handbook, or the P.R.I.C.E. to success paper because the school doesn’t support the policies if its against a faculty member. They can’t keep professors and the student turn over rate is beyond high. Finally if you want to take general education in a classroom setting, not going to happen here because they let go of their general education professors and it’s done all online. So be prepared to pay a ton of money to teach yourself.Danielle Crow

Don't attend this school for anything outside of pre-licensing real estate classes. They now have an accreditation for an associates degree but the program is severely lacking. Moreover, they have instructors that do not provide instruction. But they do have a couple who seem very knowledgeable in their field and are actual professors. You take an online class, which attendance is based on a weekly online discussion post, and your instructor gives you assignments. The thing is, the work given is graded by a person who can grade more heavily weighted on assignments based on their opinion. I've found that one of the instructors of the financial management courses grades very harshly (deductions are fine but hers are not consistent or fairly weighted) in an effort to make the class seem harder, yet she provides no real instruction. It took me more than three requests to get more info and explanation from this instructor about work that she assigned. She graded with a heavy hand and still only provided a YouTube video. Her initial response was to look at a two line blurb in the book. It's sad because this person has no consideration for the fact that she is not actually instructing anything. All the info and instruction comes from YouTube and the book, but she is the one who casts your grade. This is a very hard environment to learn in and to feel good about learning the info. If financial management or business finance is a part of your curriculum, consider choosing a different school. For reference, I have a B.S. in Chemistry so Im capable and have done "the work" for a degree prior to now. This instructor completely sucks the enjoyment out of learning the material because you only become focused on, "What's she gonna deduct for today?" Or, "How much is she gonna take off for our differences in opinion on an open ended question?" I feel disheartened. I'm over the red pen grading method. I'm over the lack of instruction and the poor curriculum. If you don't enjoy feeling depressed or defeated everytime you log on to your class, DO NOT attend Hondros or take these classes. It's worth the little bit of extra money to take it somewhere else.Shannon Crutchfield

I am taking the most affordable option for a mandatory Life and Health and Accident insurance pre-licensing. My gripe with the program is that it sold itself as self-paced, but it is anything but that. It is true that you can do it on your own time versus keeping to a schedule with a formal class. However, it limits you to a snail's pace with (slowly) timed continue buttons through the course. I did not appreciate this as I read at my own pace, and the course DOES NOT proceed at my pace. Granted, it is very explicative.. but for someone getting relicensed and mandated to take the course by PA I am disappointed I cannot speed through as I already know 80% of the information. Hondros, explain that you are metered to x amount of minutes per course. It is not truly self-paced.Joseph D

This review is only for accessing their online training through mobile phone. It is impossible to navigate, it is one of the buggiest, and user unfriendly platforms I have ever used. When it asks you to click “accept I am the person taking this course” it will not let you scroll down long enough to click the submit button. If you do make it to the mobile training site, the middle of every page is covered with “you are on page 1 of 10. Would you like to see the material? Too bad, but now you’re on page 2 of ten” Maybe android is better, but you should avoid if you’re using an apple phone.ryan hupp

I was not pleased with this school at all. Teachers constantly changed, and unqualified teachers were teaching classes (english teacher taught us psychology). There were mixed signals about dress codes and the dean of the school humiliated me in the main lobby over a minor dress code infraction while MANY other students were out of dress code. Our class began with 25 and only 3 original students from that class graduated. You are required to pass ATI proctored exams to continue in the course, but if you fail those exams they make you retake classes that are not associated with the exam you failed. I’m thankful i was able to get through the program, but I felt like a major disservice was done to myself and my classmates. There were a select few incredible teachers that really cared about the students, but they were bogged down by the horrendous upper management. I hope with the new DON change that these things change, but this was my experience.Sara Lawson

I completed the bridge program at OIAH. I earned my RN diploma, and I had a wonderful experience. My instructors went above and beyond for me, offered continual support, and gave me the tools and information to succeed. I passed the NCLEX on my first attempt without studying additional materials. Six students were in my class. Three graduated and passed boards. That is a fairly decent ratio for nursing school. Out of the three that didn’t pass, two quit for personal reasons. I have recommended this program to several friends including my own mother. She also graduated from the program! I have been offered positions at UC, Trihealth, Premier, and Dayton Childrens. I have moved on, and I am completing my BSN. Awesome program!Rebecca Daniels

I wouldn’t recommend this school, staff plays favoritism, if you don’t pass the standard ATI test then you fail the whole class. They only believe their staff you will not be prepared for success, this school prepares you for failure and I’m not joking. CTC, Fortis and Omcc are all better options! Owens Community College is one of the worst colleges I have ever had to deal with. None of the advisors are helpful or knowledgable. Many of the teachers are competent enough to teach proficiently but the administration and program coordination is awful and destroys the college. VERY LIMITED. DOES NOT PROVIDE NATIONALLY RECOGNIZED FIRE CLASSES, state recognition only. During my time at Owens Community College our class had a week and a half to complete all of our clinical hours and ride time. Each and every staff member had a different answer to the same question(s). Everyone needs to get on the same page and CLEARLY define the TOTAL cost of courses with ALL of the fees that students will encounter. Owens Community College is not adequate and should not hold the title of "College", instead the title should read, "Owens Community State Certification Center". Administration needs to get their ducks in a row. In short, Owens Community College does not deserve the title of "college" and is an inadequate learning center that does not prepare their students for the real world or treat the instructors, students, and teacher assistants with respect. DO NOT GO TO OR WORK for Owens Community College.John P

Not sure the hate this school gets, maybe it's certain majors, but I have found Electrical/Electronic Engineering Technology to be a great major. Every instructor I've had has been great. If you don't like an instructor you can always use ratemyprofessor or ask your adviser to reassign you one if it's possible. I've also studied Computer Science and have had the same experience. It's a small school, but it's Findlay. If you want a bigger population and more chance to meet new people or take more classes, attend in Toledo.Derrick Ellerbrock

This is by far the worst college. I have to pay for a service that I am not getting. Teachers do not care about students. The college does not care that their teachers can't do their job. The observe and financial aid offices are horrible. The people who work at a college like This only work here because the can't do anything else. I attended Fortis College back in 2011/2012, and I loved every minute while I was there. I was blessed to have such great instructors. All had experiences in the field of Criminal Justice, and were very knowledgeable about the learning material. Not only was it a great learning environment, it was also a fun environment. The instructors set a stage for the students to WANT to be involved. It was a joy to go to school whilst attending Fortis. All the staff made it their goal to see you succeed. All were very personable, and it felt like being apart of a family. If you had any problems (I rarely had any) there were countless of individuals you could go see and get them resolved. I loved how they had award ceremonies after each semester. They recognized all our efforts and hard-work, and it was always a great feeling to be one of those persons. The atmosphere was always positive. I've made lasting friendships not only with other fellow students, but instructors as well. If you are thinking about attending Fortis College, I encourage you to enroll. It was the best decision I made. I'm now attending a University to obtain my bachelor's degree, and many of the credits I received at Fortis transferred. So if that is one of your worries, worry no more.Seema Hagen

I started my education here when it was NIT in 2001, the instructors were great knowledgeable, and I was placed in a job on the day of graduation. In 2004 I returned to upgrade my Diploma to an Associate Degree, I only had to retake 1 course and my Gen Eds and was completed, again the instructors were fantastic, knowledgeable, and truly provided me the help I needed to succeed one on one, this is something I would not have received from a big University. I have been employed by Fortis since 2005, as an instructor, and in the mean time went back to college for my Bachelor's and Master's at another University, however that University accepted all of my credits from my education at Fortis. I am grateful for NIT/Fortis in all they have done to help me on my journey from Financial Aid to Career Services the experience was great!Melissa Fullen

I graduated from this college in 2012, and my mother also graduated from this college several years ago. My mother and I both had a great experience while attending Fortis College. Fortis College teachers and staff are very supportive of ALL their students to graduate and work in their career field. At this college location they had friendly and dedicated teachers .The classes were in a comfortable and more focused setting with up to about 20 students in each class. There are sooooooo many colleges and universities in Northwest Ohio that would be a better choice than Lourdes. I got duped into coming here on the false pretense of discounted tuition and quick graduation. Nearly 3 years later, I'm still more than a year from graduation, I have not gotten one single penny off my tuition, as was previously promised, and the tuition has climbed by 150%… Transferring out to UT, something I should have done a long time ago.Patrick G.
