10 Best Absn Programs In Oklahoma City, OK (2022 Updated)

I love the CSBA and will continue to go there whenever I can to get something done. I have had my nails, hair, make up and a facial there and I loved it. I go often to get a Meni Pedi and sometimes take my niece with me since they seem to be the only ones that can handle people with ticklish feet. I have got my hair done twice their now and love that I can get a cut and color for only $38 just a color at other salons cost a min of $65. Today 6-17-14 I went in and wanted a whole new look a color and cut. I knew what color I wanted but not the cut just that I wanted it short. The girl I had her name was Morgan and she is very sweet and understanding. She was shocked that I pretty much wanted all my hair chopped off since it was to my mid back. I explained that I was recently diagnosed with a medical issue that was causing my hair to fall out and that instead of shaving it all off I would try just cutting it short. She got the dye right the very first time and dyed my hair perfect with no mistakes at all. Was very professional while working on my hair. I wasn't sure how I wanted it cut so she provided me some magizens to look at and I showed her what I liked and her and the girl working at the station next to her described some styles that they thought would look good on me. They came up with one that I couldn't say no to. It was Awesome the instructor showed her how to best do it with my hair since I have thin hair and I LOVE LOVE LOVE it. I have never had my hair this short before and never thought that I would. I love my hair. I have never walked out of a Salon feeling so excited about my hair as I did today. THANK YOU MORGAN!!! I went there for a day of beauty that I won> I got a manicure,facial, shampoo and haircut and style and make up, declined the pedicure due to the fact I have a lot of pain in my feet and don't like them touched. the manicure was good given what she had to work with cause I have hardly any nails to begin with, loved the wax dip she did it made my hands feel like they were melting felt very nice. the girl was very nice and quiet but did engage in conversation some. the facial was done by a girl who had very good massaging techniques, she about put me to sleep. when it was over I was all like can't I just have you do this all day lol. my hairstylist did a good job as well with some assistance from a supervisor they both seemed to understand what I wanted and it was actually the first time EVER someone cut my hair right. the girl who did my makeup was good as well, she listened to what I said and thats what matters that and she had a very good personality and confidence. I have no complaints about my expeirence there and would go back againAva Simone

I just read a couple of the reviews. I have to say that several years back I went here for the manicure program. Yes, some of the things are a little out dated. But, it is cosmetology school. I will say one thing..While this was a few years back, I never once had an issue with any of the instructors. I went to school every day and actually finished 3 weeks early. Also, the way they teach you is exactly the way you have to do it at state board. It was second nature to me when I went to take my exam. I HAVE gone to another school since to complete the Esthetics program, because it was cheaper…there was a HUGE difference. I finished early as well there but the instruction was awful. They did not look out and watch for "bad habits" or even teach you how it will need to be done for the exam. There is much worse out there. My over all experience was just fine. It is all in what you are looking for.J H

Excellent college however the residence life is dismissive of suggestions and refuses to acknowledge problems such as when the gates are open people who don't pay for parking are parking inside the village residence, if you work you're penalized by a "first come, first served" policy (because how dare you contribute to society and actually work while going to college) that doesn't apply to staff who have their own reserved spots for parking near the buildings, dismissing the idea of doing region based parking for those who live near say building D to have parking near building D reserved for them and C gets parking near C, and so on. Went to the residence life office and was dismissed despite the sentiment being shared and having another student agree with the idea, which seemed a reasonable proposal. The housing life could do with having less stubbornness and actually having a process to allow suggestions to be voted on and approved rather than dismissing them. Feels more like you're living under tyranny you're paying for instead of a mutual arrangement.Aaron English

Not a great option for adult learners or those needing online classes. I had some great professors, but most classes had very limited professor involvement and were basically a glorified computer program with a high price tag. I also had emails ignored by more than one professor which I found to be unprofessional. I feel that the lack of engagement makes this school a poor value. If you are just trying to knock out a few courses this school is fine, but if you are seeking a professional, collaborative educational experience, I would apply elsewhere.Tiffny Sykes

I'm halfway finished with my second year and I couldn't be more happier! I'm glad I chose Rose State and applaud the professors and staff on how well they've adapted to the corona virus! They've added a new student center that is amazing too!… (update) still rocking! I love Rose State. LOTS OF KRAMER NURSING STUDENTS REGRET COMING HERE. Kramer Nursing School has VERY LOW QUALITY OF EDUCATION. There are lots of INCOMPETENT INSTRUCTORS who do not know the subjects well enough to teach the classes. When students ask questions, they either tell the students the material is in the book or they say they will get back to you with the answers which they never do. Lots of students have to drop and retake courses because of the poor teaching. There are so many students who are VERY UNHAPPY and TRAPPED in the program because transferring to another nursing school means starting nursing school all over. There was a MASS CHEATING SCANDAL in the summer 2013 in Adult Health II course in that half of the class were put on academic probation. When half of the class were caught with academic dishonesty, there were systematic problems with the program. Students resorted to cheating on exams maybe because of the poor teaching. Kramer nursing program should be anyone's last option. If you are on the waiting list for other nursing school, just wait.Kualuwan Kurlawalee

I am extremely unimpressed with this college. While I had a great experience with my private violin instructor, I found the culture at OCU quite distasteful. I can’t speak for every department at the school, but the staff (and deans) at the School of Music are not very helpful and can sometimes be extremely disrespectful. OCU desperately needs to work on improving the experience for students and making them feel more welcome. OCU also gives very lousy financial aid compared to other colleges in the state. I attended OCU for 2 major reasons. 1. OCU has an outstanding science curriculum and medical school acceptance rate. 2. OCU is known around the globe for excellence in performing arts. I loved OCU because I was able to continue double bass studies with the amazing Dr. Schimek and to earn a great scientific education at a liberal arts university. My Son and I have been up do OCCC many times over 2 months speaking to each department, taking tests, providing income verification, signing form after form. Provided them with 16-17 FASFA approval and 18-19 FASFA approval and have told them from day 1 that the EMT course is what he will be taking, we also provided Fasfa application with OCCC as the school and the Emt being the class. He was approved for 5900. and the cost is something around 2500. I took 2 days off of work using my vacation hours to get this completed. We enrolled him into the course and got his ID and he has a required pre class mid May he must go to for more details on uniforms or material needed for course. I am him mother they have just as much info about me as him due to him living at home still but have emailed my son yesterday a month after enrolling and testing and such and advised him they spoke to director and Fasfa doesn't cover this course!! So I called the Financial Aid office and they refused to speak to me with out my sons authorization are you kidding me but they want me to be responsable and provide income verification for my SON to get inrolled but refuse to speak to me about his FASFA?? So I asked them if it was FASFA or them that decided 2 months later that the course he was taking from day 1 wasn't elegable for FASFA and the lady told me that it was up to FASFA!! So I called Fasfa to confirm this info that OCCC financial aid had advised me and spoke to a young lady that informed me this is grant money and the final decision is up to the school not to FASFA… so I was lied to waisted my vacation hours and time enrolling my son for them to decide after we were in that office 2days speaking to each department and NO ONE COULD TELL US THAT THEN??? This is BS I am a single mom of 3 we got qualified for FASFA for a reason due to low income but Occc want to run us through the ringerMelody Curtis

After several consultations as a transfer student with 60 credits geared towards nursing bachelors and some general education courses I was assured by my unofficial transcripts that I only need 2 more classes for the RN program. The day of classes I was advised that I would need another 2 classes. Completing 8 weeks I was then informed I would need another 2 classes. That’s 6 more classes when advised I only needed 2. My financial aid will not cover all of these additional courses along with the previous accumulated transferred courses. I was SCAMMED. This university SCAMMED me into more courses. I would advise anyone to make sure everything said to be in writing and record all phone conversations so you could report them to the government as a victim like myself. The chemistry course was misleading and my ebooks were delayed past assignment dates and no extra credit given or opportunity to do the assignment once the learning material is actually available. Everyone’s experience is different and mine is unfortunate. At the rate of added courses I think a bachelors is the best move and would have never ever wasted my hard earned money and time away from family for this. I had 3 advisors and each one had something different to say about what is needed. Now the courses I’ve taken is wasted and useless. I shouldn’t have to pay for them.Jay Cop

There processing people could use a brush up. Campus is a little confusing. Records has some really kind people working behind those counter tops. Hats off to that department as well as admissions for all their hard efforts. Gotta commend the disabilities department for their mission to its disabled population there at OCCC for aiding those with challenges to each individual’s needs.Jason Golden

If I could rate zero stars I would!! But the academic advisors are nice and informative….. but it's the WORST place ever for online education! The business office is HORRIBLE and extremely rude!! Do not be fooled by their Christian University "title" they are nothing but a money hungry institution looking to nickel-n-dime and take advantage of Christians who are trying to further their education and better their life! Make sure you read all their policies, fine print and read the part on any financial or student aid and administrative fees (twice) do not be fooled by their mask of deception! Once you get accepted into their school and you sign all their agreements they will begin to charge your account until you have nothing left! They will give you a run around when you need financial aid and they will barely leave money to pay for books, definitely not enough for living expenses because they sucked it all dry. This school is a perfect example of money exchanging inside of the church and profiting off of God! (JOHN 2:14-15) Pray hard before you choose to go to MACU! it's a money racket!Grant Schuck

I started attending this university in the Summer of 2012, and everything went really well. I enjoyed the students and instructors except for one. That class was a nightmare. When you have ninety-nine instructors, and one tells you, you will have a disciplinary action take place if you mess up again, that is messed up. The financial aid department was a joke. After three years of being at the university, it was time to move on. Last year was something else. I was randomly selected to provide a tax transcript, and after three attempts to have the IRS mail the statement, no luck! Now, I am going to attend ORU to obtain my bachelor's degree. Their financial aid is more timely, and less of a headache. Be cautious of the financial aid department. Great school, but not the best customer service.Tyler Walker

The online MBA program is a disaster. I've had 4 classes not put online on the date the class starts and then got penalized for late work. If you have all A's and a D they wait till the end of the program and tell you that you can't graduate unless you retake the class. You are told numerous things, and the success coach turns around and says he miscommunicated information to you. I have SEVERAL emails regarding all these problems. Other students in my online class are constantly emailing with the same complaints. It has turned into a nightmare! You would think we were the first graduating class it is all so unorganized.. Save yourself the headache and enroll online somewhere else. I wish someone had told me before hand.missy lynn

I was here for 1 year from 2016 to 2017. I also worked here as a work study student too. I enjoyed this campus and brings me back memories when I think about it. The classes are easy and it's mostly 2 year associate degree that they offer. Even though it says it's a university it's really not it's a 2 year community College. It used to be a technical school back then and they just changed the name to university. They do have bachelor's degree classes for Registered Nurse R/N and stuffs like that. Their main campus in Stillwater is an actual university. If you are nervous and don't think you can't make it, try this school or any other community colleges for 2 years and see if you wanna go to a university later on. The only class that was hard for me was the English composition 1 class. I think my teacher was Sarah Mcelyea. She is a tough grader. Other than that I like this school and would recommend people to come here.Shone Joseph

*Had a problem with financial aid, a student at the window made the problem worse. *had switched degrees so Venetia was no longer my counselor but in my frustration, that's who I called *was ready to pull out of school and go to a community college closer to my house During my call with Venetia, she addressed all my issues then followed up making sure any promises made during the enrollment process were fulfilled. Venetia made me feel like I was in a place where the staff care about each student's success and are willing to help. President is great carrying person who also was happy to greet me and extend his support in any problems that may arise. I love my new school and the staff car about my success.Chris Clack

At first I was nervous about paying for classes due to my financial aid not being processed but I reached out to my teachers and fellow classmates and someone was able to rely this info over to someone higher up. I got a phone call that they'll be able to help w/ getting books for me some I got one and also my financial aid was processed the week after so I was able to go get my books for class and pay for schooling. I'm really glad someone took time out of their schedule to help me. They didn't have to stay after hours to help me but they did and I'm very thankful that I'm attending a school that really cares. The University of Oklahoma HSC has an excellent research facility. The university has a lot of scientists conducting research in different diseases and development. The scientists are publishing high impact peer review articles every year. The university has a medical center where the doctors are treating patients. The receptionist is RUDE!! I called 2 x and both times this woman laughs and hangs up.. I finally get her on the line, doesn't mention the company nor her name ..how unprofessional. I'll never ever! This is the worst academic program I have ever attended. They do not keep abreast of medical research; It’s difficult for smart individuals to compete in this program. My biggest horror story from my experience at the OU College of Nursing is this: A patient on a psyche unit at VA hospital told me that he was not ready to be discharged from care. I stood toe-to-toe with the residents and told them he did not meet the criteria for discharge. The doctor signing the forms, histrionically waved his pen in the air, and then he dramatically brought its point to the forms, where he checked each box to discharge this man. Less than a week later, this man was back at Veterans Administration Hospital–in a body-bag in the morgue with a self-inflicted gun-shot wound to his head. Nursery school kids have more acumen than OU School of Nursing personnel. Just saying….Deborah Thorwart
