The hiset program needs work. The teacher's like to teach the same materials over and over and over again (expecting a different result). Then they expect you out of their program with in three months; now mind you teaching the same materials and or only one subject and expecting you to pass a test they haven't properly taught or not taught at all. Writing a review for UNMC is an emotional task for me because they have been there for my mom and family through life, sickness, recovery, health, and even death. In all they've been there for they did right, without judgement or bias, and with care, hope, and support. I live in Kansas, but I know this hospital and all the towers better than some streets near my home. I've interacted with many specialty doctors, nurses, techs, housekeeping staff, ER, security team members, and so many others. We've experienced teams in Kidney Transplant, Wound Care, Cardiovascular, Cardiology, Ophthalmology, ENT, Derm, Cancer Center, and the Comfort Care Team. I can tell you that these teams are here because they love what they do. If you're considering UNMC as a new place to care for your needs I would do so without hesitation. When my mom moved they were so helpful in her transition to Kansas. Without them we'd be lost. We will miss each of her teams, their knowledge, and their care. It was so hard to leave.Tam E

Very disappointed in care provided. Nursing seems sorely under staffed. Although they frequently have cell phone in hand. Communication between staff (doctors and nursing staff)is lacking. Communication of providers and patients is insufficient. Facility is dirty dusty and run down. And should we talk about HIPPA….nothing to talk about….it doesn't exist there. Hep locks do not get flushed even after several days….negligent much? Showers/bed baths not offered to patient even after 3 days in-house. Are they trying for some nosocomial infections?S B

Today I went to Nebraska medical center and the eye clinic. The people that are very friendly and nice it's clean has three levels. The doctor I seen seem very knowledgeable and was very concerned with my eye condition it was funny when we first pulled up and parked in the first row there was a broom next to the handicap sign made me laugh remind me of handicap which parking. Someone probably had clean snow off their car with the broom and left it there.Karen Beautiful

To the people complaining about book prices- that has nothing to do with SCC as the prices they have books at are the prices the books cost to buy anywhere period. Yes you can rent from amazon or chegg but really a review about books has nothing to do with SCC or the education you will receive there. To the people complaining about credit hour costs- if you think $180 is too much per credit hour try a university where your classes are $400 per credit hour OR MORE and all your classes are taught by TAs who are literally your age and only have a Bachelors. My time at SCC was enjoyable and the professors were helpful and want you to succeed. That being said intro classes are easy and are high school level. Once you are into the 200 classes things pick up in difficulty as they should. The classes I took with SCC prepared me to succeed at a uni. And also the campus and buildings themselves are much nicer than many parts of unis. 5/5 rating from me.McKenzey Smith

As a local automotive business owner, I've hired several students from the Automotive Technology program without any making it past the 90 day probation period we have. After many years of unsuccessfully finding a qualified mechanic, I decided to start taking classes myself to fill my own need for a mechanic. I really enjoy the classes and teachers, but the constant policy changes make it near impossible to be successful. I tried to meet with the Automotive Department head, but unfortunately policies change from student to student. I'm sticking with it, but the problem is obvious now, and it really is too bad as there really are some good teachers in the program such as Tim Hunter. DO NOT USE SCC BOOKSTORE UNLESS IT’S LAST RESORT. It is aweful. Completely overpriced and non-competitive whatsoever. CHEGG.com is the way to go. There is one lady in particular in the bookstore who is aweful. She almost had steam coming out of her ears when I asked for the ISBN number so I could SAVE $240 by renting (that number is compared to their renting prices, not purchase prices!) my books somewhere else. She was extremely rude and basically kicked me out of the store. It’s not MY fault they are screwing students over. They’re already charging $181/hour for classes, so there is no reason to make a buck on books. I have proof of the difference in price as well. CHEGG all the way!George F

Graceland University is an exceptional school. Right in the small town of Lamoni, Iowa Graceland brings the community together. With Community of Christ being affiliated, and the churches within Lamoni really bring out the joy and blessings that are apart of a christian community. Graceland has a beautiful campus, and they continue to do many upgrades to the campus. The students and staff at this university have such a welcoming feel, and walking through the campus you just feel the energy that is being put out. I would highly recommend this university to anyone that wants to feel that sense of connection and community. Graceland University is an amazing university and offers amazing opportunities. It's especially great if you prefer to learn in small classes– it really allows for a great learning experience. I am a junior at Graceland University and from the very first day that I have been here I have never had a bad experience! When I came for a visit I knew instantly that this was going to be the school for me, even after touring 3 previous schools. To all high school seniors looking at colleges, tour Iowa State! Iowa State was pretty low on my college list but I decided to tour it anyway. Coming from Wisconsin, my first thoughts were it was a college in the middle of no where with an easy acceptance rate…sketchy. But the moment I stepped foot on campus for my college visit I knew it was the place for me. It's a division one school but the beautiful campus and friendly staff made it feel small. Iowa State was the only college I applied to and I am more than happy with that decision. The professors and advisors truly care for every student and want you to succeed. For the university being in a such a small town, there is so much to do at ISU. From intramural sports, clubs, going to sporting events, joining greek life, exploring Ames, there is so much to do. Every fall, I am reminded as to why Iowa State University is ranked as one of the most beautiful campus in the country. All the fall foliage makes me want to keep snapping photos like an incoming freshman visiting the campus for the first time. Some of the best locations for looking at fall colors are: 1) around the campanile, 2) central campus (near Pearson Hall), and 3) along Osborn Dr. If you want to avoid getting judged by others for taking pictures, there are plenty of photo opportunities at Reiman Gardens. However, be sure to take those photos quickly as peak fall colors only lasts for about a week.John Hsieh

Our daughter came all the way from Arizona to this small school in Iowa, and it has proved to be a God inspired decision. We are so grateful for the way the school has offered plenty of activities for her to get involved in as well as the family atmosphere she has felt in dorm hall. The small class size is great for interactive teaching and the faculty have been amazing in their instruction, as well as their interest in my daughter’s success. The education quality is beyond poor. I took a composition class and it was at an 8th grade level at best. The teacher downgraded assignments for "reasons", she was proven wrong and refused to change the grades. I learned absolutely nothing. I then took up my issues with student services and they jerked me around for over a month. Caught the guy in a couple lies about how he was dealing with the issue, talked to his boss and then they jerked me around. It's been going on for almost 4 years of back and forth. They stick to their guns on getting paid and don't do anything to actually get you a real education. If you just want to pay for a degree and do a bunch of busy work this is a good place, but if you actually have a brain or desire to learn anything useful, find something else. This is the best university I have ever studied. The only reason I transfer was because I couldn't be in cold place. If only the area wasn't that cold and I was comfortable being in cold, I swear to god this is where I would go. Friendly people, nice professors, beautiful college, less people and more attention and lot of other benefits. Professor knows you by your name and anytime you need any help, they are there for you. If you have any issue, just call the university and you will be warmly welcomed. I always loved their gym and swimming pool. I have had such a bipolar relationship with Indian Hills that I don't know where to even start. Good/Positive: Campus greenery is beautiful, Friendly and normally Understanding Teachers, "The Pit" as a social gathering place, Spent most of my time there,The Arts and Drama Department, Easy to Apply, Good Medical/Counseling. Bad/Negative: Living expenses are outrageous, especially for a small college that has not much for variety and choices. Food never changes and I barely ate there, so it was a waste of money for me. My dorm in Trustee was fine, nothing special but I was happy with the space. However I went through 3 different roommates prior to starting and after the first month my other was offered a better living space. The OneStop has often been portrayed as rude. Not only with my own experiences, but with other students as well. I am a friendly, nice, but cautious student. I am going to have QUESTIONS. I do not appreciate being talked down to. I am a first generation traditional student in my family, so a lot of the information isn't common knowledge for me. I understand a bad and busy day, but this happened on several occasions for several different type of questions/concerns. Now, Dropped Classes. I was a very ambitious student, so I got my AA done in one year. However, a class that was needed was apparently dropped. I was not notified about it until I asked the OneStop. They said I should have received an email, which I didn't. This class was suppose to be a simple science class since I am nothing close to a scientist, but I needed the credit. With one day prior to beginning of term, I had to shuffle through what was remaining since I was never notified in time. I was left with a horribly difficult class, ONLINE. Passed with a C, but hated every moment of it. There were other class situations I had with them, but this was the biggest deal to me.Luckily for me, I was involved with the arts department and had some very good teachers. I am not knocking the academics, just the people who are suppose to help and guide you to them. I have been disappointed several times and for following friends thinking about going to hills I warn them of all of this. I often say, "Stay at home or off campus if possible, save yourself the money. Worry about your classes and good luck asking for help. The teachers will be there for you, but I don't know about the rest of the institution."This college is probably excellent for students in the technology center and nursing, however for a future transfer student or gen eds, there is no guarantee that this college is for you.Caitlyn Millard

The presence of a college in a community is always a good one, with the purpose of educating and building the community. The newly elected president at Indian Hills is a good leader with good intentions. The leadership team however, is corrupt. As a result, staff members are subjected to mistreatment and unfair behavior and practices. Promotions are given based on personal preference, how well you are liked by those with the ability to make changes, and who you know. Team effort and support is also lacking when assigned duties need to be accomplished, which requires contribution from other staff members across campus. This is not reflective of all staff members however, as there are a few that do more than their fair share and are willing to work. The resouces and education available to students are comparable to other colleges in the area. After talking to community members, I have learned that the reputation of the college is not the best. Good leadership sets the foundation for a good business. Since this is lacking at Indian Hills, the college will not be able to maintain a positive image in and around the community, until and unless changes are made within the leadership team.Cherece Henry

This place is horrible. The dorms have cockroaches, a really bad infestation of cockroaches!! They have outdated elevators that should have been replaced years ago, they are just now replacing one of them. They would get stuck, open with no elevator in which someone could have been severely injured, one even caught on fire. Then now two of which I have seen of the washing machines are broken so some of us cannot do our laundry. The bathrooms are rather filthy. The parking lots need repairs badly. I have been treated poorly by numerous people including a professor who forced me and a friend to drop out of her class. That professor also called my friend a distraction because he is bisexual. The food in the cafeteria isn't the best. I honestly find this place a waste of time and money. It's not even worthy of being called a college.Ady Webb

Nice buildings, TERRIBLE instructors, especially in their medical-focused science programs. Instructors changing assignments, deleting submitted work, and failing entire sections of classes.. Instructors that play the "gotcha" game, attempting to fail and trick you on material and assignments, as opposed to trying to teach. Have professors ripping material directly from other programs and having you do it for assignments (other universities) that still has other universities logos all over it. Also, you're on your own, admin will not respond / is not on your side. I would spend my money and time elsewhere if AT ALL possible. Had an instructor claim they have the "best program in the state" and then fail to respond by email for about 3 months, and had to get Dean involved. Feels like I'm interacting with high school students for professors. I am from out of state and it turns out Iowa has basically no resources regarding escalating issues with professors – what they say goes and that's it, regardless of how inappropriate or unproductive. Kirkwood is a fantastic school with high level talent. The college seems to view itself as a service to paying customers (a bafflingly rare delight), and offers courses that inspire good work and deep thinking. Kirkwood *far* exceeds any other educational institution I've attended. The admission process is transparent, the courses you're paying for are clearly outlined, the requirements of the course are made plain at the start of the term… man. I can't say enough nice things. And you know what? I never once had anyone correct me to say "Call me 'Doctor' ". That may not mean much to you, but it meant a hell of a lot to me. Do yourself a favor and go here for your first two years with an eye to transfer on, should that be your aim. You're not just getting more for your money. You're flat out getting more.Claiming Light

Least understanding faculty. Called 6 hours after my deadline to cancel a test that I paid $95 dollars to take. The program director for CE was rude and condescending stating that she would not refund my exam because I was simply 6 hours past the 24 hour deadline. This school is clearly just out to rob people of their money and it’s sickening. I’ve had nothing but a bad experience and it’s crazy to me because at one point I was so excited to attend. I was charged 600 dollars because they weren't able to post the required material for for a class, until the day before the class was suppose to start. When talking to them on the phone, it was like I was talking to a incoherent baboon, one second they say I'm talking to the wrong office. Asked to get transferred to the right office, then hear them say this is the right office. If you have a stereotype of an illiterate Iowans, then this place fits it like a glove. I wouldn’t personally recommend it or trust too many reviews left by freshman as we were incentivized to leave reviews. It also has a %100 acceptance rate on some websites which is not a good thing. Their professors are fantastic, though. Super accommodating, helpful, and well-learned. The campus itself is gorgeous as well. I attended a couple years ago. This section is just cautionary. I was assured that if I paid a fee that I would graduate on time and receive my degree, they had lied. Some employees in the business office (though I do not know if they are still employed there) allegedly had an issue with pocketing payments. Unfortunately there isn’t anything I can do about this as I was too naive and trusting of a university to get this in writing. Just giving fellow students a heads up! If you need to do ANYTHING with their business department, ensure it is in writing! I suggest Morningside or ISU. You have way more invaluable networking opportunities at either of those universities. That being said, if you’re looking for a religious college then this may be a good fit for you. Just be warned, though, a lot of the credits they force you to take will not transfer to other colleges. This is a terrible university, the staff other than maybe 3 or 4 are so unprofessional, lazy, and condescending. The price to attend this university is outrageous, there are so many hidden fees that this school hides from the students. The staff members can be blatantly racist from the AD to the Teachers. If i could advise anyone looking into this school i would say DO NOT COME HERE. In the summer it’s way too hot and that isn’t a problem, it’s a problem that the school refuses to put AC in all the dorms and if you ask for it, it is a 100$ fee each semester when you will only need the AC UNIT 3 – 4 months out of the whole year.Brian Walton

Briarcliff’s financial aide department didn’t do their job which cost my daughter a government grant of over $2000 her freshman year in college. When I realized what took place, they would not take any responsibility for the actions or lack of action from their department. As a Wesleyan graduate, I must say that my experience in at Wesleyan and in Mt. Pleasant was OUTSTANDING in EVERY ASPECT! I am a 1981 graduate. Since my time spent there I have served almost ten years on the Alumni Board, and I know Wesleyan's roots and their strong focus on the future! Wesleyan and the Mt. Pleasant, Iowa area offers a small town atmosphere close to big city attractions. I will be forever glad that I chose Wesleyan for my education! It is a true GEM in the Midwest in EVERY ASPECT! My son was recruited to play football here and we had the chance to visit on 8/8/17. This is a small town, small school but it has such a BIG Heart. All the people we encountered on and off campus were nice and courteous. There are the stem Festival and the gym is full and fun. Lots of noise lots of confusion and lots of science. Everyone seems to be enjoying themselves. Nice opportunity for Community involvement. Great way to introduce children designs lots of creative ideas in exhibits. I would watch her future stem festivals in Dubuque each spring and be certain if you have children to bring them. This review is for the phlebotomy course at NMC, NMC's teaching, and my clinical experience. The course is broken up into 2 weeks in the classroom and 3 weeks in clinical rotation. I rate the classroom teaching as exemplary. Professor Di Lorenzo is passionate about what she teaches and very knowledgeable about phlebotomy and lab work, as she is an industry veteran. One would think that as a NMC student, being sent to Methodist Hospital for clinical rotation would be a good match, as the hospital and school are linked (students are sent to non-Methodist sites as well). There was no organized training program or trainer, thus no consistency. We were assigned daily to phlebotomists that were working the floor on that day. Overall I trained with at least 8-10 people. There were only 2 people I worked with where I sensed he/she trusted me, had patience, and was willing to demonstrate skills and answer questions, and treat me with general respect. Otherwise, I dealt with poor attitude, at times being abandoned by the trainer (where did they go?), and a general lack of interest in training and responsibilities that go along with it. The person promoted to the training coordinator position towards the end of our clinical rotation is a good phlebotomist. However unfortunately I wouldn't be surprised if this person's severe demeanor puts potential new employees off. During the time I spend with this person, I sensed I was being brow-beaten. I didn't feel welcome at Methodist Hospital as a student, and sensed the students were a burden to be dealt with. As a non-employee, one could also sense the malcontent between employees and management. Said management seemed to take very little interest in our training (i.e. asking how training was going, what our overall goals are, asking how did we did in classroom training, etc.). NMC is a great and reputable college and has a great teaching staff. The clinical portion, which is a large portion of the course, was a disappointment.Omaha Phlebstudent

Came to the school for a conference. It was very comfortable, spacious, and while there was a ton of construction which made finding the place challenging. There was lots of parking, but we were also here at 7am on a weekend. I was surprised there were minimal electrical plugs in the classroom but for our purpose that wasn’t a big problem.Big Traveler

I wasn’t sure what to think about Rasmussen because I’ve heard mixed reviews from my coworkers. I was pleasantly surprised to find out this is the college to go to school if you’re a parent wanting to be a nurse. I am married and have three kids under 8 years old and I work in the hospital full time, and I’m succeeding. From my fellow coworkers, I KNOW this is the fastest program to get your nursing degree. I love my professors. I absolutely love the diversity of my professors and fellow students. I know that some have complained about the professors intelligence level. My professors are all very educated. Sometimes if English isn’t the first language, anybody would speak a little slower. This gives you an education you wouldn’t get anywhere else because you’re learning from people who are different than you but usually more intelligent as they had to work harder to get their degree because English was not their first language! Or at least equally as intelligent. People also on occasion complain about the price. I have done the math and at the speed I’m completing my degree, I will have saved more because I’ll have the degree at least a year prior to my fellow coworkers going to more affordable schools I also had Sara Packard as my advisor and she was phenomenal. This is my second week at Rasmussen. It is challenging, but no school is easy. So far, the best thing I have encountered at this school is the support that the school incorporates together to help the students. My admission went well because I got a lot of help from my admission advisor, Brittany. She kept me alert and on track throughout the entire process. I strongly agree to listen to her advice if you plan to get your admission process completed on time. Another thing I'm pleased to have is Personal Support Center. Just like Brittany and the admission process, I got all my technical issues solved through Personal Support. Both of these two parties are well-hired for the job. You will like the support team here if you go to this school. Supports and admission definitely earn 5 stars.k yang

DO. NOT. GO. HERE. If I could give this school zero stars I would. The nursing administration and program is a joke. All they care about is swindling you out of money. They intentionally kept me from being able to retake an exam so I would have to retake a course again. Visit the BBB website and read for your self, the aren’t accredited by the BBB and they literally have a 1.19 rating out of 5 and after reading the filed complaints from other previous students it’s easy to see why. There are multiple classes that 40% of your grade is dependent on ATI exams, not the course content, so you can literally pass the class portion but still fail the course due to ATI. It’s a joke.Jaime H

Honestly, first my impression wasn’t good. I will give a 5star for nursing program because of clinical opportunities. This college delivers great study program combined with hands on skills. I talked with my friends from NYU nursing , Mount Sinai Nursing and I was surprised that my program so much better than those colleges!! Teachers the Best! If u study u will graduate this college anyway!ro roli

If you like a small class room size, this is the place for you. It's relatively new and encourages a diverse environment. The classrooms are like see through with happy colors and it has apartments nearby to rent that can be tied to your financial aid, also an amc theater closeby. Please like if this helped. You won’t find educators that TRULY want you to succeed anywhere else! The staff is amazing and help you conquer any and every hurdle you may have. The college also partners will many local events and gives back to our community. Love this college!Hope Royer
