8 Best Absn Programs In Bridgeport, CT (2022 Updated)

I have to admit, after being accepted to the Master's program early in 2014 I was nervous attending graduate school. I was unsure of what type of situations I would encounter, and what type of curriculum I would face. After the first day of orientation, I knew that the University of Bridgeport was the best choice for me. The staff and professors in my department are extremely friendly, knowledgeable, and helpful. The classes I have taken have not only improved educational leadership qualities, but have also helped improve my mathematical prowess. Although the classes may seem difficult at time, my professors demonstrated an excellent balance in challenging students while holding their interest. I have created many long lasting friendships as well with the students in my program. In concurrence with our education progress, we find ourselves continuously engaging in a sort of fellowship that I have not experienced elsewhere. In essence, the phrase "work hard, play harder" seems fitting. We have fun in class, and we get to work when we need to. I find that my professors are equally as entertained as my fellow students, helping to aid in the maintenance of the positive climate in the classrooms. If anyone reading this is nervous or unsure of their decision to attend the University of Bridgeport, as someone who previously felt the same way I offer the following advice: don't be. This is a phenomenal University with amazing programs and a delightful professional staff. They will help guide you to success by any means necessary. If you put the work in, keep a positive attitude, and remember to have fun, I promise you that the University of Bridgeport won't let you down.Philip Abraham

I am currently a freshman at UB almost finishing my first semester, I am majoring in the health sciences and hopefully 4 years from now I will be doing my masters in Chiropractic. I came to America all the way from Indonesia, I studied at an international school so I have met people from many different countries and cultures, UB made me feel like I never left that sense of living in an international environment because of all the diverse cultures that you find here. Professors, Students and Staff are very open and very supportive if you need any help and the fact that UB is a very small school makes it a better sense of community among students. Classes are good and challenging, resources are provided if in the need of help just like tutoring or counseling. I had the chance to make many close friends in just a few months from different backgrounds, friends that have become a second family to me. Although the distance from my family is too long I feel like I've found a new place that I can call home for the next 7 years. I do not regret my choice.Leonardo Castiglioni

As a current undergraduate student studying International Political Economy and Diplomacy (IPED), I've had nothing short of a wonderful experience at UB. I can only speak for my major, but I love my program. Most of my classes are engaging, and my teachers are always available to talk and answer questions outside of class which is much appreciated. The thing that I love most about UB is the diversity. Especially studying in a internationally focused major, there's a huge difference in talking about events throughout the world, and actually hearing a first person perspective from someone who is from that country. My best friend is from Syria! Of course there's a few things I would change, but overall I am really happy with my experience so far.Virginia Orman

I went to Housatonic right out of high school. From fall 2012 to winter 2015, I attended. The professors were professional and helpful. I could email or call or see them during their office hours if I needed to speak (I prefer in person). All the professors I had were passionate and knowledgeable. I transferred from the science program to the fine arts program. The school and my advisor were helpful in this transition. (Personally, every process/interaction was quick and easy) It was a great choice for me. I found the fine arts department to be a great group of people. Very dedicated and all successful in their fields. They didn't just become teachers, they had/have careers and are extremely talented. A little quirky, but what artist isn't? They really helped me improve my art and gave me advice on selling my art. Aside from the actual classes, my favorite part was the fantastic cafeteria. Honestly, I still go back! I still wander around downtown sometimes – that's where HCC is. Its not idyllic but its not as tough as the streets of Manhattan. There's a few oddballs but in 2 years of night courses I never felt unsafe. There's good restaurants and a few shops, concerts in the summer. I graduated and transferred to an art college, almost all of my credits transferred. I'm at a smaller college now, to get my BA, and I miss the convenience of being in a downtown area, near a park and print shop, and really miss the cafe !Christine Jones

This place is the worst. I had the worst experience with an advisor who tried to advise me in the lobby of the building. She basically asked me why I was there…. Then tried to advise me to go to every other department so she would have to do the bare minimum??? Security guards at every door, not kind ones either they definitely don't make it a warm and friendly campus. Seems like they're trying to protect themselves from more that just Covid. The financial aid office is a mess, and the enrollment process was ugh…. They basically didn't know how to add my Transcript credit aside from them sort of losing my Transcripts which the head guy admitted, and looked at me asking if I had any unofficial ones on me…?. The 3 stars are for their professors, they were lovely. The school is trash though go to NCC instead especially if you value professionalism and can do advisement.E J

Housatonic community college Is one of the Best Colleges I have attended. Academically, and socially, this college is well rounded. HCC has Great teachers, that honestly want to see their students succeed.i can only tell you this because this was me, a student who was extremely stressed about the material and course work. Enrolling into HCC from a pervious college, I did not have the funds for school. when I applied for a HCC scholarship I was more than fortunate To have Received grant.YES from School. I have totally made the correct choice to attend HCC. I was nervous at first, but it’s the realization Of coming out of your comfort zone, to achieve your goals and aspirations. I am truly blessed and more than thankful to attend Housatonic community college. Business? very poor return on investment, avg. starting ( posted by SHU) is $59,183 pretty pitiful so close to NYC, good for Wyoming or a fly- over state Careful with room charges, very few escape without some bogus charge…cracks in ceiling, broken glass in common area lounge? take pics and document everything…you are paying high fees , so complain-my daughters room was filthy could not move in without cleaning walls, vacuuming, and even scraping gum from carpet…WTF???!!! As I head into my last semester as SHU I wanted to say a few words about my experience thus far. First off, I have created some of the best friendships and networking relations with some of the best people and companies that have made my experience as good as I could have hoped. The academics pushed me to achieve new skills and acquire new abilities in my field of study. The university urges students to become more involved which was a huge part of my time there. Not only is the campus beautiful and ever growing, the food is amazing with various options. I would never regret my decision to go to Sacred Heart and I am sure you wouldn't too.Rebecca Carllio

Worse experience of my life. They claim they guarantee housing on campus all 4 years but it’s a LIE. They put me in a hotel as a freshman this year. It was 15 minutes away from campus and I missed out on everything. I dropped out a couple of weeks ago. If affected me emotionally and ruined everything for me. I missed out on meeting friends, living in a dorm, and being on campus. They don’t return any phone calls. All the care about is MONEY. Don’t recommend going to SHU at all. They have no sympathy for me and think they did nothing wrong by putting me in a hotel my freshman year.Christina Amato

Going back to school was a big step for me and I'm so pleased that I did. American Sentinel's staff and faculty were very helpful during the entire process. During my program, our family had some challenges and I was able to work my courses around the time I had available. My SSA provided me with amazing guidance and helped keep me motivated when I needed it. They were very helpful when trying to get me to sign up for RN-BSN program, until I signed promisary note then no support. I had trouble accessing my assignments, on 3 different computers. Contacted tech support, counselor, instructor. No help. I contacted the president, she just told me to pay my bill or it will be sent to collections. Stay away. Surprised this place doesn't sell used cars too. Be warned. Buyer beware.c c

I had to exit my program and course one week prior to class starting; life happens. It has been 3 weeks and I still have not been reimbursed for my 100% refund. If American Sentinel wanted their money in a timely manner, you would have no choice but to pay. They don't care about the consumer as long as they get their money. I will never trust them again. If I could give this school no stars I would. My sister had a meeting with a Carole Pomarcio who is the nursing program director. She meets with each candidate before even reviewing their applications. She was extremely discouraging and told my sister to stick to her current career instead of following her dreams of becoming a nurse. My sister explained to her that this had been her passion for a very long time and Pomarcio told her nursing wasn't for her and that no school would accept her. She even discriminated against my sister stating that she would need financial aide and that financial aide would not cover the entire cost of the program , without even knowing my sisters financial status. She also said that my sister would need to get an "A" not an "A-" in every pre requirement class to even be looked at when the curriculum states you need a B or better. She suggested my sister become a volunteer in a hospital instead. Coming from a nurse this saddens my heart because I am a nurse and i'd never suggest that to a student no matter race gender or age. I would rather have a passionate nurse than someone who looks good on paper. There is something seriously wrong with the candidate selection process at this school and I am writing this review to help other students that are considering this program. This woman is suppose to be the face of the program and is deterring perfectly qualified students. My sister cried for hours. I was at the university for an exchange program. The nursing program was very well put together and staff there are amazing and i found very approachable atleat thw ones i had contact with. Facilities are excellent and with the experienced teaching staff you have only to gain from their wealth of knowledge.Anu M

Essentially, this program stole my idea, used it as if it were their own and published it in the local newspaper as if they came up with that. Academic plagiarism at its worst. I would have given them -5 stars if I could. Thieves.Google User
