19 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Toledo, OH (2022 Updated)

Honestly, should have listened to everyone discrediting this school. Cheaper ain't better. This school has stressed me out and I've only been attending for one semester. They keep changing my aid amount, will not reimburse my refund and all together have made my college experience a nightmare in hell especially with me working full-time. It always something new going on with my financial information for the following semester and new requirements that were completed prior to me attending resurfacing. Who has the time to keep re-ensuring that they're getting the money they already previously accepted? It doesn't matter how early you send your FAFSA in, they will find a way to have it reprocessed so late that you won't recieve the amount you already accepted. Honestly, I want to withdraw this semester but my grades are so high it would be no point.Jazmyliena Martin

Very poor experience, people don't care about the disabled students, they had charged me over $1k for not helping me get into my classes and they've abandoned me in 2010. One star for absolute failure. Edit: 9/14/2022 this so-called trio program from Owens community college isn't helpful not resourceful of how am I supposed to go to college, they sign me up late not knowing I'm missing out on my assignments and these advisors in the school are lazy and rude like they don't care for the disabled students such as myself. Attended Owens and completed an Associates degree in 2001. Returned to a local area 4 year college to complete a Bachelor of Science. Due to the high cost and mediocre experience. I chose to take as many transfer classes as possible at Owens. A full time semester was a fraction of a 4 year college semester. Pretty rigorous course material and most importantly, courses are well structured, you could actually work ahead following the syllabus. Students and staff are pleasant. Have my 4 year degree, and returning to Owens for certificate programs to fill in the gaps from said 4 year college curriculum.Brent A.

Unless the problems are resolved, I will be leaving my review at what it is. I started at Terra in January 2019 and currently still enrolled. At this time, I just want to finish and graduate. When I first met with Terra, my advisor was rather "pushy" which I'v dealt with before, no big deal. The thing that stood out though was that she had to tie her success's into every little thing, and not in a good way. She bragged more than she used the information to make me feel better about trusting her. Her tone, to me, implied that she knew more than I and I just need to do as she says. Something I couldn't quite understand though is how none of my credits from Stautzenberger College could transfer. There's quite a few classes I had to re-take because of it. How does nothing transfer from such a highly accredited school like Stautzenberger? Upon showing my schedule to my husband, who had also had scheduling problems at a different college prior, he pointed out some flaws. How was I being scheduled for classes that I hadn't taken the "pre-reqs" for yet? I was also being scheduled for classes during times that they weren't even available. I had also been told that I was looking to graduate Spring of 2020, possibly summer depending on internship and when I decided to do it but because there were classes that I couldn't take when I was scheduled for them, I actually wouldn't have graduated until Spring 2021. Then later finding out that there was a class I NEEDED to complete before even doing my internship, something I wasn't told about either until now. I reached out to this advisor and didn't receive an e-mail back until weeks later, after I sat down and completed my schedule MYSELF. I have half a dozen other students in 1 out of the 6 classes I'm taking that have had similar or exact problems with the same advisor. Flash forward to financial aid. My paperwork was sitting in the "finished" pile while it was actually incomplete. This wasn't realized until I went to the financial aid office in person to find out why nothing was being posted so I could get my bill paid and schedule summer classes. They had been sitting there for weeks. Okay, frustrating but mistakes happen. However, the other morning, I woke up to an email from FAFSA that corrections have been made……on my schools behalf. I logged into my portal and see that the Pell Grants that have been listed for weeks now and that I was TOLD I was going to get (by the same gentleman who left my paperwork sitting unfinished for weeks) for summer and fall are no longer there and everything turned to un-subsidized loans. I reached out yet again (side note: getting quick responses from financial aid OR admissions when you have a problem is extremely difficult), to which I finally did get an e-mail back. In a real short sentence, he apologized, said he had made adjustments that was actually an error on his part, and went back in to adjust it, I should see my grants back up in a few days. Another email this morning, changes again, back into my portal, absolutely nothing has changed. 2019/2020 FAFSA was done, completed and filed, why go back in and make any changes period. Plus, where is the communication? I would love to understand what is going on with MY financial aid and MY classes but nobody seems to want to help and explain anything. I could very well not be entitled to any Pell Grant, but that needs to be communicated with me and told why it's changed even after I had already received them in an award letter. I am beyond tired of this run around. The stress and extra effort are completely unacceptable. The only reason I'm giving 2 stars vs 1 is the fact that unlike my last college, I feel MOST of these professors actually care about my education and me as a human. Update: after a couple weeks of back and forth, the Pell Grants finally posted. However, an issue I was having with my online classes can't really be traced to anything specific. I was actually booted from one of three classes then had to be re-added, and almost booted from another but nobody seems to know why.Heather Myers

Poor…………………………………………………………………………………………………………………….They make it very difficult if you are a busy adult (no online or phone registration/deregistration for 1st time students). The tuition is low, but the headaches you will get from the college (applying, registering, high book fees, travel to the middle of no where) make it not worth the price. I have a 4 year Bachelor's Degree and work 40 hours a week in a professional job. I'm also working towards a 2nd Bachelor's Degree in Computer Information Systems by taking evening/online/summer classes. I filled out a application, paid a application fee, and had it in 5 weeks before the start of classes. I was never sent a acceptance letter, phone call, or any information on registering for classes. I was never given a password to apply online. I called the Registration Office several times, but was met with a answering machine. My phone calls would be returned a day or more after I left them. They would leave voicemail messages while I was working. Eventually they told me I would have to get registered in person since I was a first time student. All first time students can only register in person even if you are only taking evening classes part time. I applied to Owens, North Central State, Marion Technical, and Terra for different computer information systems classes. North Central State and Marion Technical are way cheaper and you will be able to talk to a person over the phone. Owens College has the same quality classes for the same price with less hassles.Matthew Clark

I'll give one example of many of why this school is the worst decision you can make in your educational career, today I called for my transcripts and the manager there who name was mark was so idiotic that he didn't even know how to log on to check my transcripts, when he couldn't figure it out he claimed that the school actually can't check the transcript (lol) and that I had to go to a government agency called "student records clearing office" to get the record, all sucking on a lollipop. The sad part was I knew this was going to happen right before I called lol….. Most of these reviews are fake 5 star ones, so I will give an honest review. The staff of this school are uneducated and have no idea how to function in their positions, they are also extremely lazy and disorganized to the point where it is like something out of a movie, they are actually infamous for this and everyone who calls in tells the manager the same thing. The office may also charge you extra and create mistakes for you, I actually personally experienced and had to call to get the fee removed ( I actually educated their financial aid manager on how to actually calculate fees, he apologized and admitted his mistake and then never removed the fee).A Sayed

My daughter's teachers only have gotten greater by the grade. True angels. First it was Mrs. Rodgers, the best Kindergarten teacher ever. She was so attentive, compassionate, encouraging, and truly seen in my daughter greatness that helped us as parents to feel comfortable allowing her to advance to 1st grade curriculum while still in Kindergarten. Now it's Mrs. Hoffman. Such a beautiful heart, extremely empathetic, understanding, & also attentive to the point she also encouraged us to allow Tori to advance into 2nd grade curriculum because of my baby's superb performance & testing. It makes us as parents feel comforted & content knowing we have teachers who take time to learn their students individually, learning their weaknesses & strengths, and then helping us find the most effective solutions to help them succeed. I truly thank God for blessing our family with such amazing teachers. They deserve bonuses, incentives, or whatever rewards are available to them because they truly have golden hearts and have gone over and beyond to make my daughter have the best homeschool experience.Shyree Huggins-Battle

We have had such a great experience with OVHA! My daughter is excelling so much better now. She enjoys all her coursework and virtual classrooms. She chats with her new classmates. She looks forward to school every day. Our teacher is very accessible to us and always gets back to us promptly if we have any questions. She makes her virtual classroom fun and the kids don't even realize that they are learning. They sent us everything we needed books, art supplies, computer, printer. I am so glad we made the switch from public school to OVHA, we have no regrets and will be returning again for the next school year.jasmine ayres

I'd like to thank my Physical Science teacher, Ms. Laura Burton, for being an incredible teacher. Throughout my two semesters attending this school, Ms. Burton has been helpful, kind, and welcoming to all students and their questions. She was one of the few teachers, that I had, that used a "Student Facilitator" system. The Student Facilitator system allowed some students to become leaders in their class and help students by answering questions and encouraging them. I believe this system should be used more everywhere, and I was really lucky to have Ms. Burton as my teacher. #teachluvArturo Steelhand

After 3 1/2 months in the hospital my husband came home in February needing nursing care and therapy services. He had several chest tube wound sites. The nurse came out one day to evaluate and change his dressing and to address medication issues from his discharge- she said she wouldn't be his regular nurse, but someone would be out. Never saw another nurse and I took care of the dressings and sorted the medication issues myself. PT came out until he could make it from our home to the garage. The occupational therapist, Christine has continued to come out weekly and has really helped him progress and get stronger. He received a call yesterday from a nurse calling to schedule an appointment to discharge him from services…it's probably fine since he can do much more on his own….but really? Nursing hasn't been around in 2 months, and they get to decide?? As a health care professional myself, it doesn't make much sense to me. Grateful for the therapy he has received, but disappointed in the lack of nursing care and follow through.Leigh Lesniewski

This is my first experience with home health and I am very happy with the Therapy staff. Colleen from physical therapy and Melissa from occupational therapy are the best! They were so positive and kind when I first met them. Melissa is the OT who works with me, and brought me a tub bar and all the equipment I needed. I needed a little encouragement as I have never had a major health issue. I had hip surgery and I was afraid to move! She encouraged me so much that I am able to shower now. Lauren the physical therapy assistant was very good with working on my confidence with going up and down the steps. If I ever need anything in the future, I will only use Med1care. My fear I felt before they started was so high, now I am able to do almost everything that I could do before and it has only been 2 or 3 weeks. They are a great knowledgeable team. I recently had neck and spine surgery. Med 1 was there to help me within a couple of days after I got home from the hospital. My nurse, Trish, was very kind and let me know what I could expect. My physical therapists, Colleen and Lauren, were very helpful in showing me the exercises I needed to regain my strength and making sure I understood how to do them. My occupational therapists, Melissa and Danielle, were also helpful in instructing me in ways I could strengthen and regain the use of my left hand. Each of these wonderful ladies who helped me were very professional and friendly, and always willing to take the time to listen to my concerns and answer my questions. Home Instead Senior Care is an amazing place to work! The office took a chance on me, working remotely to assist with on-call support, and they have really done a great job of making me feel included and appreciated, even though I am not local. They have went out of there way to make sure everything was set up to make my job easier. Everyone here is open and inviting and I know that I always have someone right there to assist me, should I need help. All of the caregivers have been incredibly kind and welcoming, as well as all of our clients that I have had the pleasure of speaking with. This place really is a gem! Not only did I have the privilege of working in the office, supporting the wonderful men and women who take care of the seniors in our community, but my family also used Home Instead when my grandfather was diagnosed with Dementia and needed additional care. Lucinda K was amazing and became like a member of the family. From my professional and personal experience, the whole team of caregivers at Home Instead is the best in our area. HORRIBLE!!! Definitely negative stars! My mother was there for 48 hours and it was the worst 48 hours of our lives. The place is filthy. I walk in and the few staff members that were wearing masks had them down by their chin. The only time I saw a nurse was at the desk or in the lounge on their cell phones. My mother was left in soiled briefs for close to 24 hours. She laid in bed the entire time, no one could take the time to help her into a chair. The worst part was when she fell out of bed. Her roommate went into the hall and yelled for help but was completely ignored. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. Complete Elderly neglect! We recently had to place our mother into Spring Meadows Nursing and Rehab Center. It is extremely difficult to see a loved one who was once very lively and independent become incapable of living on her own. The staff at Spring Meadows, Tiffany, Mallory and all the nurses, receptionist etc. made this transition so much easier on all of us. It is obvious they all care greatly about what they do. The facility may be a bit older but it is clean, well maintained and full of loving caring people. We are extremely grateful to everyone who works at Spring Meadows and look forward to visiting mom again soon because her smile is back and that smile is priceless.Nicole Sheldon-Carlson

Well the bathrooms could use some deep cleaning especially the toilets. But so far everyone is real nice. Megan on night shift was really friendly she came in to see if my husband needed anything and even asked if i needed anything? That means alot that she wanted to make sure we were both comfortable for my visit with my husband. My husband says the food is not very good said some of it is but some not so much! Also they need to get the age requirements straightened out. One lady said 13 on up but the other lady at front desk would not let our 13 year old in. There are sooooooo many colleges and universities in Northwest Ohio that would be a better choice than Lourdes. I got duped into coming here on the false pretense of discounted tuition and quick graduation. Nearly 3 years later, I'm still more than a year from graduation, I have not gotten one single penny off my tuition, as was previously promised, and the tuition has climbed by 150%… Transferring out to UT, something I should have done a long time ago.Patrick G.

Very simply put, I don’t think that I can say enough positive things about the Swan Creek to really articulate how I feel. Our dad was a resident here for about the past year. He was first on the independent living side before moving over to assisted and then eventually skilled care in his last days. The facility is great inside and out. He/we loved the nature-centric setting and really liked walks along the Swan Creek on the new boardwalk. The Swan Creek staff, they are the real hero’s in my mind. From the aides, nurses, and Hospice folks he saw every day (or nearly) all the way to the kitchen staff, facility crew, and administrators that he interacted with less often, they are all truly amazing people – giving, understanding, warm, and kind. Living 2 hours away, even with my sister living close to the facility, this loving staff that I felt made our dad feel like he was part of their larger “family” right there really helped me cope with an already very difficult situation. If the folks at Sawn Creek are reading this, my sister and I would like to thank you for all you did to support us and our dad. If I could leave a zero star that’d be cool. I called to get basic information. Wanted to know transferable credits of and ADN degree to BSN degree. Was told o needed to “Speak English” (mind you I’m as English and American as it gets) I asked what he meant by to speak English and he said he didn’t understand was an ADN or BSN is. There’s more polite ways to ask about something you don’t understand than to straight up tell someone “I need you to speak English for me” like sir! I need you to speak more professionally for me. I’m currently an attending undergrad since 2019. I’ve only had one major issue and that was my academic advisor originally slotting 18 credit hours my first semester. But I got a new academic advisor and I’ve had no other issues. All of my professors have been nice even if they were strict with teaching methods. I could even say I’d miss a few of them cause they made classes with them super fun. Their Covid-19 response was also great and their testing centers were quick and easy to attend. The campus is also really nice in the spring/summer when it’s not too hot.C. H.

Tastes in music vary and there are different performances. Theater programs usually have a charge, comparable to some community theaters and high school theater productions. I’m now in the Army National Guard, attending Purdue University for Cellular and Biomolecular Engineering, and working as an administrative assistant at a nursing and retirement home in the area. My daughter started as a seventh grader at NDA and the school has been a perfect fit! Attending the NDA JA afforded my daughter the opportunity to take more advanced high school classes and her transition into high school was seamless. Denise, I added to this review, please read if you see this. I graduated from Mercy a few years ago. It was one of the worst experiences I've ever gone through. I did graduate and got what I went there for but students are repeatedly disrespected by teachers and the clinical instructors. The skills lab was a joke. I'd go in there to ask questions and I was told several times to find a book and look up the answer instead of doing their jobs that they are paid for and help a student with their knowledge. If I couldn't find the answer, they'd hand me another book to look at while they continued to have conversations with their co-workers. Most clinical instructors were mean and made you feel stupid, even in front of patient's. I may have a RN after my name but I regret going to this school. I'll never forget some of the cruel things several teachers have said to me and how unhelpful and unsupportive the staff was. After I graduated, several of the teachers got fired and I wasn't surprised. I don't recommend going to this school. Nursing school is hard enough and this school isn't worth the added stress. EDIT: Hi Denise, not sure if you will see this, I appreciate your response. I just want to add that the teachers, clinical instructors, and staff, need to realize people are not only students but also paying customers. I feel Mercy lacks in customer service when it comes to students. This surprises me since having good customer service skills is an important aspect in nursing for patient satisfaction. I agree with a previous review that stated, " students are treated like burdens." I never once heard words of encouragement from the staff at Mercy. A lot of negative and unkind remarks. I also got more help from the students working in the skills lab than the nurses who worked in the lab. I feel the staff at Mercy needs to be educated on the importance of customer service skills. If there are multiple student complaints about an educator, take it seriously. When I was there, one of your clinical instructors actually got me to cry in front several students and hospital staff. Don't be discouraged by the 1 star posters. My daughter attended Mercy College and we couldn't be happier. The staff is great. The people that had trouble in school had several resources to help them do better. My daughter constantly scheduled tutoring sessions. Mercy prepares the student, but the student has to be prepared for the challenge of nursing school. Remember nurses have human lives they are taking care of. Does anyone want someone getting low grades to be their nurse? I don't. No school prepares their student for the NCLEX (test to become a registered nurse) better than Mercy. We were so happy with Mercy that our son is now attending Mercy this fall (BSN program). Great school!Dee M

My experience at Mercy was more like a nightmare. The students are treated like burdens, instead of the paying consumers they are. There is a huge lack of communication between instructors and lab staff, which leaves students unsure and ultimately unsuccessful. Educators are supposed to give students the tools they need to become successful, this is not what I received during my time at Mercy. You can study hard, ace exams, and practice in the lab everyday, however one poorly proctored lab check off can fail you for a whole semester, and if you try to appeal, it is just your word against theirs. I do not recommend Mercy if you hope to graduate , and get that RN behind your name.Miss Me

Graduate in 2013. My internship was a nightmare, I had very little training by the company that was picked for me. They had me cleaning out their files the first week, how convenient, very disappointed. I reported my concern to Ross career coordinator, she didn't seem very concerned that my experience was uncomfortable and a waste of time. At registration, they offer "life time placement assistance", I reached out numerous times to Brittany in 2016 for assistance in helping me find work in my field. All she did was send me a few "leads" from the website Indeed which I already had done on my own. She stressed that she focuses on the current students, how insulting, I was offended, as if I was not important. I asked for help in updating my Resume to help market myself. She never took the time to review my resume or advise me. I haven't heard from her in 7 months. I had a great instructor while I was a student, that was my only positive experience while enrolled at Ross. Hopefully this review will help in determining your choice of schools to pursue for a future career. I wish I would have explored my options more carefully before I chose Ross.Crystal M

I was in a hard place in my life when I started at Ross. The teachers are amazing and fun! All the staff are wonderful and are a great support system. Whenever I felt like I couldn’t continue they motivated me and encouraged me to keep going. Ross had my back when no one else did and it made me really love school! If I could give this school ZERO stars I would!!! When inquiring about the program, they will call you continuously, until you step foot on their grounds. Once you become a student, they will act like you are an issue, harass you about payments, override/cover up your complaints or issues that you report to the “higher-ups”. Which by the way they are “ALL FRIENDS” outside of RMA. No sense of professionalism, and not organized. When students voice their problems or concerns, faculty will send out retaliation emails to the students. Any changes that occur, you will not receive clear or proper notice in a timely manner. Your completely on their time. During the RN Program, I was asked to do a Kaplan Entrance Exam, ATI during the program, and HESI Exit Exam to “Exit” the program. Students will be successful in the entire program, but when it is time to exit the program, there isn’t any proper preparation/remediation for the HESI. It’s definitely not a Nclex Prep Class at all! Matters that do not have anything to do with HESI, will be discussed in this class. Do not go to this school! Please reconsider!Ruby Williams

These reviews are fake and must be friends of Richard! This school is horrible! They discriminate against American students vs African students. The african students are allows to miss weeks of class and skip payments while the others are stalked by Pauleen she will tell the whole school your business, Jean is a lier, don't trust Joseph and Richard is definitely not there for the students I tried to report them to the board of Education with loads of proof. They're all friends and all connected, so I'll be hiring a attorney from Michigan, because this school is illegal and discrimination amongst other things I reported to the board is against our civil rights, HIPAA violation I can go on.
