20 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Richmond, VA (2022 Updated)

My experience was great. They have many campus actives, great teachers, and a variety of classes that are small and interactive. The advisors also (at least my advisor) did a good job at helping me with choosing classes. The pecan groove was an added bonus, and made the campus more special. I am a commuter student; I drive about 15-20 minutes everyday to go to school. Also, I always brought lunch from home and never got the cafe food, but I heard it was bad (it's mostly junk food). Don't buy the books from the bookstore because they are way over priced; rent from chegg if you have to (you might not even open the textbook throughout the semester). If you keep up with homework and study for tests, you should get at least a B in a class. If you need help there is peer tutoring, online tutoring, and (as a last resort) some teachers are helpful.Isabel Rascon

We were really excited about my son attending this school and had a horrible experience! COVID hit that year and everything went virtual. One big reason we chose this school was the small teacher/student ratio and the special needs center because my son has ADD and needed a little extra help in the new college environment. Well he was left high and dry and not only that but NO ONE CHECKED IF HE WAS ABLE TO GET ALONG AND THE TEACHERS COULD CARE LESS THAT HE WAS LOST AND TO NAIL IT DOWN HE WAS PUT ON ACADEMIC PROBATION AND TOLD HE COULDN'T COME BACK AT THE END OF THE YEAR. HE'D NEVER GOTTEN IN TROUBLE OR ANYTHING. THEY ONLY CARE ABOUT THE NUMBERS AND NOT ABOUT THE KIDS OR YOUR KID!! BEWARE! WE'VE FOUND A BETTER SCHOOL THAT ACTUALLY CARES ABOUT THEIR STUDENTS. This school sucks for someone who lived on campus without a car, education wise the school is great but as far as living on campus. DONT! The people in charge of the buildings are mad because of the life choices they made and want to make your life there a living hell. They don't allow small gathering in the dorm rooms curfew is midnight on weekday even for the people who live on campus you can't do anything they want you to go to class study sleep eat and repeat if you aren't in to socializing and just wanna study all the time its perfect but other then that dont waste your money.Zenia Lewis

It's a good college at a fair location. Keep in mind that this is a community college and not a four year college. It isn't going to carry the same weight as a true four year college, both with the degrees that it provides and the teaching level administered. The college is clean enough and they are doing some work to being up some of the buildings more to standard. The Midlothian campus is better, but this one presents a prime location being directly off the highway. They have several computer labs and every teacher I've had has been fair and engaged with students to an acceptable degree (academically). The VA expert nice woman who knows her job well. As a veteran she helped me and my roommate out greatly with setting up the GI Bill and she did all our paperwork quickly and efficiently.Steven N

They have changed from when I first graduated high school but the headaches are still there. Advisors sometimes are confused themselves and aren't of much help. Financial aid is best to deal with in person. Campus is closed together and easy to walk around. Professors are some good and some not. Bathrooms are always clean and that's a good thing. There's a lack of information for clubs, programs and such. They have a catalog of jobs and careers but they don't offer half the classes. Classes fill in quickly and sometimes you can't find one of the ones you need for your program. Seems though a lot of programs are being changed to WED classes and that means no degree, diploma, or college credit. Otherwise, still a great place to attend. I graduated with my lpn at standard college in august 2015, and im now working on my RN at standard. The instructors have a lot of nursing experience and give you great nursing knowledge you will use on the nclex and while at work. The instructors and administration are very willing to help students and often provide extra tutoring IF YOU ASK for it. The curiculem is VERY challanging. standard college is for students who are focused, hardworking, and motivated to study study and study. If you want to build a knowledge base that will help to make you an excellent nurse then standard is for you. The cirriculem is challenging but you are told that at orientation and at the admissions interview many times. The school is serious about graduating educated nurses who will go into the career and keep patients safe. 80% is needed to pass each class. Its challenging but IT CAN BE DONE! I was referred to Standard College by a friend who graduated from the program and spoke very highly of the school. My experience in the nursing program thus far has been very positive (about to graduate). They provide lots of support to the students, including small group tutoring which is very helpful. You do need an 80% to pass the program, but this is made very clear during orientation. With all the resources and additional support that is provided, I am having no problem maintaining above 85% in each course.Shebna Jackson

Standard College is a great Nursing school, the instructor’s are always ready to go an extra mile to make sure you get the concept. Did my LPN from there and planning to go back my my RN as well and reason is am confident about being well prepared for NCLEX and the the workplace itself. Looking for another degree or to switch careers and thinking of South University, well wipe the from your memory. The education you will receive here is subpar. Why do I say this? The professors race through teaching the curriculum so that you can complete the degree on 18-20 months. When this happens, students are not learning information to retain. Students are memorizing information. Better yet, many of the students cheat to pass so that they won't get put out of their programs. When students report those cheating, it goes in one ear of the staff and out the other ear. How is it fair to those students who are actually studying and not cheating to earn lower grades than those cheaters? When students are going to the professors telling them the students are cheating, why is this constantly being overlooked? Why isn't the President or Dean doing something about it? If your average is 69.9999, the professor rounds it down to a 69 and not round up to a 70. Honestly, these are some of the most no mathematical people I've ever seen. You learn how to round numbers in elementary school but a college professor round simple numbers. If you decide to go to the nursing program and decide not to heed my warning, then stay away from LINDA PECK'S class. She teaches one thing in class and tests on something totally different. You're better off teaching yourself rather than going to her class. She lows students to cheat in her class and even sees it for herself and does nothing. While the class portal shows how to calculate grades, Linda has her own way of calculating grades. If you're not Caucasian, then she will discriminate against you in any and every way that she can think of. The Dean and other higher officials let her do whatever she wants. A good professor or educator for that matter wants to see students succeed. Linda likes to see how many people she can fail. What Linda needs to remember is that she wouldn't want what she's doing to students to be done to her. While the university has recently filed bankruptcy, they failed to tell the current students. Many students found out by it appearing in news publications on the web. The great professors have been let go and staff like Linda remain to wreak havoc on her current and future students. I don't want any medical professional to work on me that has cheated their way through school. Hence, the very reason you should consult beforehand. Don't forget to check those medical licenses. If you're a minority, you want to skip South University as they allow current students to post racial slurs etc in social media. When it is brought to the attention of the school no one says anything. There is limited parking. Many students park at Whole Foods. Therefore, actual Whole Foods customers don't have anywhere to park. If you're a current student, keep complaining about the wrongdoings of the university. Better yet, take it to the head of South University in Georgia. If I could rate this so called university with negative stars, I would. Rushing through a degree and not learning anything is NOT a quality education. It's just all about quantity and how many students can get robbed paying these exorbitant fees and get further in debt while doing so. If you don't know, now you know. I am currently a PTA student and absolutely love it here. After going to MCI for nursing a few years ago and having such a bad experience (they weren't even accredited and teachers didn't seem to care about your well being and success), South has been such a breath of fresh air. They are accredited by CAPTE, every professor has received their Doctorate, and they truly and whole heartedly care about your success and well being. They strive to help you in any way, and they are so fun, outgoing, and interactive. Dr. Chamberlain and Dr. Bailey are AWESOME! Even if you pay all your tuition, don't expect transcripts. More than 60 days later, with all tuition, fees, AND $10 paid for official transcripts to be submitted, this "institution" continues to be the single thing holding up my daughter's dental school application. Great doctors and nurses. Dad’s operation went well. Only issue that didn’t give it a 5 Star is the wasted money on a parking garage which only solves a fraction of the parking issue. 2500 employees, serving ~5000 people a day, and your parking lot is constantly in overflow, I wonder why you chose to only build a parking garage for under 400 cars. It could easily be doubled in size or even have underground parking to expand to 1000. This wouldn’t matter if it didn’t cost tax payers millions to build.Nathan Pierce

I have been apart of many VA Hospitals, unfortunately and no matter the one, it's the same. They treat vets like peons, our health means nothing, and heaven forbid should you have an opinion on your own health and well-being. I attended the LPN Course for a semester until I had to stop due to a disability. However, everyone was very nice and helpful. Got a call from the Admissions Rep and she basically told me all the reasons why I should NOT go to this school! If you have a Bachelor’s degree already…their transfer credit policy is crazy! It’s not for seasoned professionals looking to do a career change into nursing! If your degree is older than 10 years – it’s worthless to them and you will be asked to do EVERYTHING from scratch!! would give zero stars if possible. They lost my wife's application for the nursing program after they conveniently got all our money for the pre classes. First they blamed my wife for not putting in her application, but then realized they misplaced it and their response was, "better luck next year." Another student in the class was denied for the nursing program after South university realized she was missing a pre req class that they forgot to put into her degree program! Their first priority is collecting your money. Its not a big deal to them if they screw up your program and you have to wait anther year to apply.Brandon Smith

I am currently a student here and if I could I would give it zero stars. The only reason why I am staying is because my teachers that I had on campus so far are fantastic. The admin side of this school is HORRIBLE! The lack of communication in the front office from registering for classes down to financial aid is a joke. I worked for this place for seven months, as a housekeeper. My first day of orientation, walking in this place…my mouth dropped. This place was so big and beautiful, very clean, very friendly staff who all spoke. I was in orientation for a week, and it felt like a different world, after walking through those doors. I use to say, it felt like Serenity. After my orientation, the following week I started working. Just like any other housekeeping job. There were housekeepers with attitudes, who felt like they were better, who wasn’t welcoming, who was bossy. Something I was use to, and could handle. The way they acted wasn’t shocking, but I was a little disappointed. That in a place like this, where everyone else seemed so friendly and welcoming, the housekeepers were on BULL. Time went by, and I started to see people true colors. The staff wasn’t as friendly as before. A lot of people stopped speaking or never spoke. These people I always spoke to first. In orientation, they expect for everyone to speak to each other. So I still spoke anyway, until I got tired of speaking first. Sometimes I only got a smile, no words spoken back. So I eventually stopped speaking to everyone, unless I knew they would speak back. Plus, I remembered Kim Deihl (housekeeping supervisor) said in orientation that people really showed how they felt for black people, once Covid hit. That she saw who was racist. Kim Deihl is another who showed her true colors. My daughter wasn’t feeling well already, my mom text to tell me she threw up. I asked my mom to call her Doctor to see if I can bring her in after work, but if I had to bring her in before, I was going to get off early. I called Kim from the phone on the floor I was cleaning, to let her know the situation. She said she were busy at the moment. She came to my floor, while I was in the middle of cleaning, and told me to come to her office right after. I did just that, she wasn’t in there. I told my coworker who also worked on my floor the situation, in case they had her clean my side. I also told her, I tried letting Kim know. Our phone has to be on silent while on the floor. So I have to keep checking my phone. I checked during lunch, and my mom texted that the Doctor want me to take my child to urgent care or the hospital, because she’s dehydrated. I called Kim again to let her know I have to go, she wanted me to come to her office. I did, I told her everything, and what the Doctor said. She mumble to her self “urgent care so it’s not an emergency” I was shock that she would say that, that the only thing she heard was urgent care, but not the hospital part. Instead of her letting me leave right then and there, she’s steady was questioning me. Until I spoke words she didn’t want to hear, for her to interrupt me to tell me go. Then she still didn’t care, to the point she was more worried about me putting my cart up, instead of me getting to my child. Worrying about what’s not fair to someone else. I refused, left, and caught the bus. Come to find out, my daughter was diagnosed with diabetes, in the keto stage. She was transported to the hospital, from urgent care in ambulance. She rated in the hospital for five days. After that, I didn’t have no respect for her after how she acted. I stayed out a week, came back, and came back respectfully telling her about herself. That my kids come first, what she said wasn’t right. She lied, saying she didn’t say “so it’s not an emergency.” I worked in health care on the first floor. I loved my residence, and they adored me. I worked the second, and third floor in healthcare also. The second floor, especially the east wing, I call the hood floor. It’s something about that second floor, that is completely different from the first and third floor. A couple of the CNA’s on the first floor treated the residence bad. But that second floor, always had nasty acting CNA’s. On my floor, I told my lead Caroline and my supervisor Kim, about the CNA yelling at a resident, talking to her any kind of way. If you need to speak to someone here about your loved one, good luck to you! I never received any calls back, and the social workers were completely unconnected and not helpful. We were given multiple different answers on our loved ones length of stay, one of which included someone telling us she qualified for at least 100 days and not to be concerned. About a month into her supposed 100 day stay, I got a call saying she was being discharged in 2 days and the social worker asked what my plan was. Since this was unexpected, we had no plan and I asked why we were given no notice. The response was that they normally give 3 days noticed but they “didn’t have their meeting” the day prior. I tried calling them back to discuss, but no one would answer the phone or return my messages and I ended up talking to someone in admissions who was super helpful and got her stay extended for another week. We got a discharge plan and medical transport arranged, but again was unable to reach a social worker to finalize the discharge. I left a message for the Administrator about the issues I had, but she also never called me back. I ended up calling the front desk and asking if I could stay on hold until an actual human, and not a voicemail, was available to speak to me, which was after almost a week and several unreturned calls at this point. The person at the reception desk had to page the social workers over the loud speaker and that was the only way I was actually able to reach them. I got the discharge wrapped up and emailed the social worker to share the timing of the medical transport pick up and other information she asked for, along with several questions. She replied with a confirmation that she’d have our loved one ready, but didn’t answer any of my questions. I emailed her again asking her the questions, and she answered one of them and then I just gave up. Then, she emails me the next day asking for the pickup time, which I reminded her was in the original email I had sent. Then the real win was when she called me and said “oh by the way, your loved one doesn’t really have to leave today.” on the day she was being discharged. I asked why the other social worker called and said that if my loved one didn’t leave, we’d start paying $400-$500 PER DAY and she didn’t have a response and just asked if I wanted to extend the stay another week. I obviously did not, because unfortunately this was just one of the several issues I had during this stay. Other issues included our loved fall falling out of her bed, to which the nurse said “I didn’t know she could move like that to get up.” and a ridiculous number of unreturned calls. We plan to file a complaint with Medicare as it is completely unacceptable to not be able to talk to a facility about your loved ones care, especially during a pandemic which visitation is limited.Brooke Sullivan

My grandparents recently moved in here – nice and large place. Accommodating flat. However, the step into the “walk-in” shower I don’t see as fit for seniors and the sliding doors are a pain to get open. The reception has proved unhelpful in an urgent situation where my grandma had to call an ambulance for my grandpa. There’s a rule where in case of emergency WC has to know beforehand. I’m not entirely sure on all the rules but it was upsetting for my grandma. Hopefully they can be more helpful if another situation occurs. Also, the ATM machine has a fee of $3 which is annoying. I think there’s a lack of available staff monitoring the place – I worry for people who may fall or injure themselves and they are alone in one of the halls for a while. Other than that my grandparents have settled in well enough but could do with a little more help from the general staff. The home health team though are amazing – especially Shannon, Elyse and Megan – they are incredibly patient, helpful and good at their jobs.Charlie Smith

I use to like this school. I am a student who does not have her degree because of 700 balance, usually they say before you end the senster or even the start.When I re-enrolled with financial aid they never said it was a balance from a prior semester. My graduate year was last year, 2020 can you imagine how hard it was not having a ceremony, then not being able to pick up my degree I worked hard for because of $700. Two and half years of hard work and I don’t have my degree. I am not impressed by that especially during a pandemic when money is tight for everyone.ashley garland

This is only not a one star review because they are refunding me for my deposit. Attempted to take their phlebotomy course. Right from the get go there was a serious lack of communication. Their website stated the course would be on Thursdays but they were actually on Fridays. I recieved an email from enrollment stating I would receive all necessary documentation by end of day Thursday so that I could pay and login for my course. End of Thursday comes and I have emailed the advisor and called to try to obtain my login info. No response. I call again Friday but they are closed and attempt to email my professor but get an invalid email response. I spend forty five minutes the following Monday attempting to speak with someone on the phone only to receive a mailbox full notification. I email them threatening to contact their governing body for the blatant lack of communication nd that's when I finally get a response saying I was not privy to my login info, despite it being their fault, because I did not pay . They refunded my money for my deposit at that point. All in all, this was a huge waste of time and money as I cannot get a refund for the text book that I already purchasedRachael Mason

I signed up for Medical Billing and Coding with a friend of mine in February 2020. Due to the pandemic, our class was switched to online which was not a problem. Since being switched to online, the instructor Shawntae Henderson has not had any communication with us. I was charged $400.00 more than my friend for the exact same class. The course was supposed to finish on May 25, 2020, which I had several assignments that did not even get graded until June 6th. I have reached out several times with no response. I finally reached out again July 15 asking about my certification of completion, I was finally contacted back July 17 and was told that my certification would be mailed that week. Here it is August 17 and I have still not recieved anything. I will not tell anyone whether or not to affiliate with this place, but I will suggest doing A LOT of research first!Fay Curtis

This school is shady!!! I did the medical assistant course but like 3 weeks in i decided that it wasn't for me. I emailed them to withdraw and at the time i was still within the refund period. It took them a month to finally respond and then once they did respond I was told it would take up to 45 business days for me to receive my refund. However, here it is 9 months later and I have not received anything from them and now they don't answer my calls or respond to my emails! I was desperate for help with my mom. I found Care Advantage via an advertisement in the Goochland Gazette. Being in the country its been hard to find care takers. Two ladies came out to talk to me about my mom's needs – Jane and ?. The questions were thoughtful and respectful. In a short time Care Advantage figured out what we needed. Our caregiver is wonderful. Always on time, always asking my mom what she would like done. She helps with a bit of cleaning, cooking and companionship for my mom. Care Advantage has really helped me keep my sanity – since taking care of my mom was getting to be too much. And if and when I need them on extra days, they have been very easy to schedule. And the price is quite reasonable. And most importantly my mom likes her caregiver. We've been through several. The person is always the same so no surprises for my mom. TERRIBLE COMPANY!!! Not only is this office not following their own companies covid protocols but the scheduler doesn't seem to know enough about the clients to be staffing them. I quit after being sent to a facility for what was supposed to be a companion care case. I was harassed and verbally abused by the staff because I called them in for the needed hands on care. When I called the office for help, I was hung up on. Then when I brought this concern to the office, I was attacked as though I had done something wrong and told a completely false story of the facilities version of events, of course, blaming me instead of taking responsibility for the elder abuse I had no choice but to report while I was there. I'm not the only caregiver who's gone to a different agency with similar experiences coming from this office- AVOID AT ALL COSTS!Teri Post

Very disappointed in the lack of customer service. We were in need of home healthcare services for my mother-in-law and we chose Care Advantage based on positive reviews from the community. I made numerous phone calls and left messages with the receptionist and I never received a follow up call from the nursing staff. I made sure all the necessary paperwork was sent in order to begin services and I STILL received no communication from this agency. Ultimately, due to the rapid decline in health, we were forced to seek services from another agency for my mother-in-law. The new agency quickly responded to our needs and communicated with us. This is coming from a teen who was in the crisis unit- it’s amazing. I’ve been to many crisis stabilization units, and Saint Joseph’s by far is the best. At other crisis units, the staff just act like they’re your doctor, you mostly just sit there and watch tv, and the only thing the staff cares about is your meds. At Saint Joseph’s, is was completely different. I bonded with the staff, along with the other teenagers and children. The children and teens bonded too. The staff truly cares about how your feeling, and how they can help, they truly want what’s best for the kid, and they are the nicest most understanding people. Saint Joseph’s crisis unit actually helped me, unlike other crisis units. I highly recommend this to a teenager in need of mental health help. These people are a blessing!Cali Duvall

Great work for children and people with special needs… if there are no other options left. However there is a serious problem with transphobia within, not all mind you, but a handful of staff members and social workers. Refused to use proper pronouns and constantly misgendering. So it's okay to be a little different and receive services, however if you are trans be weary of who you speak to about it, you may or may not be subjected to emotional abuse. I've also witnessed staff taking food from the pantry when it is supposed to be for clients in need. It's a service with good intentions but they struggle to keep bias and sketchy behavior out of the business. It is a religious based organization, so be very careful if you choose to go to them for help.Charlene Conlin

I would like to thank everyone for the excellent care that my father received at The Laurels of Willow Creek. Ginny in admissions was pleasant, informative and helpful no matter what or how many questions I had. Nurse Practitioner Kathy Anderson was responsive, informative and attentive to my father and the family. Tiffany in finance was also thoughtful, kind and helpful guiding us through the business end of his care. And Melissa in social services spent a lot of time helping us and was warm and helpful. There were others that cared for him that I did not meet in person but am so grateful for. Everyone that we passed in the hall was pleasant and acknowledged us and asked if they could help us. My mother has been in this facility for 4 months during her femur and knee rehabilitation. This facility has exceed our expectations starting from the office staff Ginny Locket whom has facilitated everything since day one with her enthusiasm and professionalism, Our nurse Nicole has gone above and beyond making sure my mom was comfortable with her pain and care. Karen Fruster is our special angel she has taken care of mom like she was her own with love and kindness. The physical therapist are all amazing especially Fred and Lauren, they have both kept me informed of her progress and concerns on a weekly bases. My father was admitted to Willow Creek for therapy following an extensive hospital stay. All the therapists were very caring and knowledgeable. Michelle the PT whom I had the most interaction with was lovely and truly cared about my father's progress and discharge. The nursing and activities team were friendly for the most part. Karen, Wanda, and James always seemed to go out of their way to be friendly and accommodating. The meals were not that great, presentation and taste was subpar, facility was clean though. On early weekend mornings and later evenings, you have to wait because no one is at the receptionist area to let you in or out. Overall a good experience and we are grateful.Renea Morgan

Travel pays the best! They have the best facilities, and the one lady Jordan is a nurse herself so she GETS it! When I tell you they understand that issues arise, they are always willing to work with you as long as you don't call out, show up late constantly, and work hard…you will make good money with them. They are firm, fair, and consistent. They work with you with issues within the facilities they staff, they are fair about if you are in a COVID facility then you get COVID rates. You can kill it in overtime money, there are alot of staffing needs all over VA. If you don't like one facility, you can always get staffed elsewhere! Monica is fantastic. She always has such a pleasant attitude and is easy to speak to about anything you may have going on. She tries her best to work with you and always be fair. Last week I went to visit my mother at Battlefield Health and Rehab. During my visit I had the pleasure of meeting a few Travel Nurse Employees. They were so professional and polite I reached out to travel Nurses to give these employees compliments. During this conversation, I had an incredible encounter with the staff at the main office. I really enjoyed Fortis College. Not just because they made me student of the month, which is very easy to do, but because they care. I was an easy student. I didn't need a lot of attention because I was very determined to do great things, but I know some that did and the teachers and staff were right there to help them along the way. Your certificate for x ray certification is national and that is a big deal. The Dental Assisting Program is top notch with excellent instructors. I could not have been hired right off of externship without them and Mr Doxey who gives great advice for the hiring process and resume preparation. This school was by far the most helpful and caring staff anyone could ever ask for. I will miss my student status but will embrace my career fully capable and qualified.Dawn Moss

When I started this school I thought that things were going to be organized because of Jerrel in admissions. Come to find out that all the teachers quit and there is no staff to have clinicals, I am not sure what is wrong behind the scene and why all of the teachers want to leave so suddenly. The schedules are also given out so late and changed constantly due to lack of staff. If you have money to give out for free you can attend here but if you are actually looking for a good education then you should probably find another school. This school has been a waste of money and a waste of time so far. Do not go here if you want your nursing degree.Brandon

I just completed my course in Clinical Medical Assisting at Fortis in July '15 and feel it was a great decision and good fit for me. The level of education I received there makes me feel confident I will find a lucrative and rewarding job. My instructors were knowledgeable and caring. They were always ready to help and made me feel I mattered, not just "another face in the crowd". They really cared about my success and went out of their way to ensure that if I worked hard, I would attain it. Professor Phuc Tran is the worst teacher in the world. He teaches nothing and gives quizzes that are twice as hard as the examples and the book. He has zero personality and puts zero effort into teaching. His power points are solid white and black text. He straight out reads his PowerPoint slides in the most boring monotone voice ever. I made better power points than him in the 3rd grade. Also, he ‘draws a picture’ of a physics problem, and he’s too lazy to figure out how to create a horizontal coordinate, so everything is in the y coordinate system, but now labeled as ‘x.’ He’s too lazy to take like 5 seconds to look up some interesting pictures to paste in his power points. Physics class with 0 pictures is extremely difficult. Physics class with awkward arrows and bizarre angles that are labeled and you’re supposed to rotate the arrow in your head is nearly impossible. If you have to take physics here, DO NOT TAKE PHUC TRAN’S CLASS. HE LITERALLY SITS AT HIS DESK WHILE YOU STRUGGLE TO ANSWER IS OVER;Y COMPLEX EXERCISES. Oh! And your pre-class quizzes will require you to completely understand the material before he even teaches it. Test first and teach later seems to be his philosophy.Nunuv Yurbidniz

The professors and the education are great. The financial aid office is a complete joke. I was unable to attend fall 2020 because they would not approve my financial aid, even though my fafsa was approved. It wasn't until December that they requested my tax transcript (even though fafsa was approved). I gave it to them and now in January 2021 I have still not been approved and have probably been jipped out of the spring semester. There's no sense of urgency and the communication is awful. You have to stay on top of them to do a job they will not do. Update After many attempts to reach out and each person I spoke to in financial aid, someone finally informed me that they want my husbands tax return from before we were even married. If they wantes that, they could have informed me on the to do list, by email or in my many many attempts to reach out, instead of telling me right before classes get dropped without financial aid.S df

This is the worst community college every established! Their Financial Aid help office is absolute trash, the faculty doesn’t care about the students at all, the teachers who are hired (for the most part) are unprofessional and treat students with no respect. They have no idea how to run a college, they are not worthwhile at all, you get charged way too much for a terrible education. I would never reccomend John Tyler Community college, as someone who attends John Tyler and knowing many other people who agree with me, I know that overall, the opinion of John Tyler is extremely low. John Tyler, if you’re reading this, you need to check yourself and actually learn how to run a college and care for your students. Be helpful and supportive, not passive aggressive. You really need to make some serious progress— you are no where near the ‘acredited college’ you think you are. Fix Yourselves, you are doing a poor job. Good day.Caitlin Chamberlain
