7 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Provo, UT (2022 Updated)

Does anyone get the feeling that many of these 5 star reviews are ingenuine? I attended Provo College for 2 semesters in 2011. I believe at the time they only offered an Associates for nursing, not a BSN. The tuition was very expensive, but they sit you down 1 on 1 with someone who gets you started on loans. At the time it seemed great that they were so helpful, but l later realized it was benefitting them more than me…which is why they make that part of the process so easy for students. I ended up leaving because the financial aid ended after 2 semesters and I didn't want $60k of debt for a 2 year nursing degree. The other thing that I didn't like was even though I was paying them insane tuition, they would have us come to a classroom for remote learning from Utah State University. This means you might take a math course from them and pay 3 grand, or however much it costs for one class, but you are basically doing it online/remote through USU…but you're paying way more than if you just went to USU. I later went to UVU and was able to compare the anatomy course I did at PC versus what students said it was like at UVU, and the course at UVU held students to a much higher standard. After a short personal experience at this college, and the ability to compare it to the other colleges I've attended, I wouldn't recommend it.Derek Drennan

I am about to finish my first year of nursing school. I have really enjoyed my experience here at Provo College. One of the the many things that I like about this program is the faculty. The faculty really gets to know you and you aren't just another number in the classroom. Each of them know me personally and even call me by my nickname. The faculty really wants you to succeed in the program. Tudors are made available to you if you are having problems in a course at no extra cost to you. Currently as a nursing program we are working on a service project, where we are making blankets for a local pediatrics unit. This is a great program that I would highly recommend! Provo College is such a great school!! The faculty, staff, and program administrators are totally invested in the students. I felt a genuine sense of caring from everyone there the first time I visited the campus- even the campus president took time to introduce himself and get to know me a little. The nursing program is amazing – all of my friends in the program had great internships, passed the NCLEX test the first time and have found fantastic jobs they love. The other programs are amazing also. I can't say enough good about this school!!!Staci

Pretty awful education experience. The vast majority of professors are terrible teachers. In fact, it's apparent they care more about their research that the school funds, than the actual students and the material they are teaching. So many teachers seem to have the mindset that "Oh, if these students aren't as passionate about this topic as I am, they are going to fail." Of course, there are a few incredible teachers, but they are few and far between. Not to mention, that a large population of the students act extremely entitled and judgy. Kinda of ironic, considering the school is owned and funded by a church that claims to have the most accurate understanding of Jesus Christ. Attending the school is incredibly cheap, however, to which I will praise. The opportunity to make it through school without any debt is a massive help for many. That being said, plan on changing your major multiple times, because almost every program is extremely competitive and very very difficult to get into. This is a school where dreams are quite literally crushed under the weight of academic pressure and prestige.Jacob Heiner

AMAZING!!! BYU runs one of the largest, if not the largest, comprehensive summer youth sports program in the country. They consistently draw student athletes from all over Utah, the Intermountain West, The Unites States and even have a number of international athletes every year. We have sent our own kids for 5+ years in multiple sports. They love it!! They love the week long sport specific camps, the housing option, the friends, camp counselors, student coaches, meals at the Canon Center and ice cream at the creamery store. This is a large campus with a number of different facilities. I love that there is no charge for the Bean museum or the Paleontology museum. The creamery makes just about the BEST I've cream I've ever tasted. The Wilkinson Student Center has a bowling alley and am extensive good court and more. Love the Arts center and basically find there is too much here to tell about, but it's worth a visit just to explore the campus. Love the bell concerts at noon.Leona Keesling

RMU completely changed my LIFE! I have made lifetime friends, and we have been there for each other not only through school-related things but through everything else that life consists of. Career-wise, I went from going to work every day and being satisfied just where I was to having a desire for growth and excellence in my profession. I enjoy learning more about my craft now and researching the very best evidence-based practices for my clients. During school, I have received several certifications that have increased my knowledge, and many of them I learned about from my classmates. Now, I am the only SLP in my entire state to provide one particular swallowing treatment and one of about seven people to provide two other treatments. In addition, RMU was essential in me learning how to start a private practice and improved my confidence in myself that I can actually run one! Now, I am running a successful practice with five independent contractors. Also, I am in a position where I am almost ready to transition to doing my private practice full time, which will increase my salary even more while having more time with my family. My experience at RMUoHP was amazing. It began with my inquiry and application to the program! From the very beginning, every interaction with all staff members and faculty has always been very professional and positive! All inquires and requests were handled expeditiously. From the educational aspect…all of the faculty was stellar! I learned so much from each and every professor. The professors were very accommodating and supportive during some times of personal turmoil. Dr. Jan Reese was amazing and made learning the technology seamless! Dr. McClary has been an awesome educator and mentor throughout this entire program. She was always only a text or call away! Drs. Shibinski & Martin really did a wonderful job teaching the fundamentals of becoming an educator and helping me establish a strong foundation…their step ladder approach helped me understand so clearly. Dr. Rust has also been instrumental in my success…it all started from a message received from Dr. Rust via LinkedIn! He has done a great job putting together this program and faculty. I entered RMUoHP to do one thing: obtain my doctorate in speech-language pathology. I left with so much more. From the moment I made the first phone call to consider applying, I felt like I was joining a family. RMUoHP welcomed me and supported me in this manner to whatever level I needed throughout the experience! The quality of the instruction and content is excellent. The program is rigorous so throughout the experience I was challenged while gaining professionally credible skills. My knowledge and skills in evidence-based practice sky-rocketed. The number of tools to critically analyze research, and to critically analyze the evidence to make professionally sound decisions for my practice was unexpected but professionally and personally enriching! 1 star it too much! DO NOT TAKE YOUR LOVED ONES THERE- TRUST ME!!! my dad had back surgery and went to Provo rehab after he was discharged from the hospital. He fell out of the bed, when I warned them he would try to get out. They told me they would watch him extra carefully. I requested an x-ray to make sure everything was in place but the doctor denied my request and said he was fine. My dad was walking up and down the hallway at the rehab, later that week he could not even sit up. When he went to his follow up appointment at his neurosurgeon, they took an x-ray and saw the hardware that was placed in his back during back surgery had moved and is causing spinal cord damage. My dad was sent straight to the emergency room and then admitted to the hospital again. I have so many other situations that we documented because my mom was there 8-9 hours every day- and she witnessed the horrible care!! To add to it- they are short staffed and will not/cannot give you the care you need, deserve and are paying for. You hold them to a standard of care because they are a ‘so called’ skilled nursing facility. This is not the case!!! I had SO MANY healthcare workers when my dad was in the hospital tell me that they would NEVER recommend them and that many patients are re-admitted right back to the hospital from their facility!! I can go on and on and make your mouth drop with our experience. I will do everything I can to share our story and save any patient for going through the same ordeal!!Lana Tuha

We feel so lucky to have found Provo Rehab for both our parents. I was in a complete panic and knew nothing about nursing care and the clock was ticking to find a place fast. I first spoke with Carli and she was incredibly helpful, knowledgeable, friendly, understanding and calm. When we met she was just as reassuring and in that I felt this was the place for them. She helped with everything and it was a smooth process. She even told me not to use those “Medicaid help services” which charge thousands of dollars because she was confident in their facilities abilities. She was right! They communicate with me and my parents feel comfortable. She’s a phone call away and I sleep better knowing my parents are in good hands with amazing care.Mya-Lisa Ludwig Ludwig

The Harman Testing center is the worst facility BYU has. They have no service so if you don’t have duo or your duo doesn’t work like in my case, you can’t take a test. When I finally logged in they didn’t let me take, because it was too late and they wouldn’t want to wait for just 10 min even tho I was trying to log in for 40 min.Bogdan Mukhametkaliev

This used to be the BEST school, so fun! When it was in American Fork! Now that i have been forced to drive all the way to the Provo Location it's cold and weird. My teacher is AWESOME but others not so much!Tasia (Trea)
