20 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Phoenix, AZ (2022 Updated)

I've had a wonderful experience here, and I've been to 2 other universities. The faculty & professors all actually care about you as an individual. Your life outside of class and your goals matter to them. Class size is small! I've never been in one bigger than about 13. You'll start to recognize faces, and it's easy to make friends & find friendly mentors. There are so many helpful outlets to apply for scholarships and other aid. Tutoring is free and convenient hours for it. Also, very helpful transfer experts who assist you in going to ASU, if that's a goal of yours. My only complaint is that sometimes a class doesn't fill up enough, while it's taking enrollment, so then they have to cancel the class if not enough interest. But I would definitely recommend coming here — I'd say it's the ideal community college.McKenzie Wilkins

South Mountain has the greatest and most diverse students and it is a joy to teach them. I always look forward to the start of the semester when my classroom fills with great gifts, ready to learn. Its seems as though the entire community is represented, young, old, every color, faith, culture, awesome vets. I teach CIS105, Survey of Computer Information Systems, and have never used a textbook, nor do my students have to purchase any software.. As a futurist, I enjoy preparing my students for their future. My students end their semester with me with a professional portfolio of their work from throughout the semester which is their own to keep.Laurita Moore

As a student and student worker this college exceeds every expectation I could have ever had for Community College and my first Community College. Advisors are Hands-On and want you to succeed. They will work with you and all types of ways to see succeed and do well. And they look into all possible resources to help you through your college experience in any way possible. They also have free counseling services, tutoring, disability resources, scholarships and grants, student life and so much more it's amazing. The level of frustration I have with the financial aid office right now is uncalled for. For two months now, TWO MONTHS I have been attempting to get my financial aid straightened out for the last class I need for my degree. I’ve gone in several times and spoke directly to someone in financial aid, I’ve spoke to someone almost weekly over the phone and now I’m almost two weeks into this class and NOW they tell me I won’t be getting financial aid for this one class. I’ve filled out and had approved form after form, have notifications in my student center stating I will be getting awarded for this class and only this class and now they tell me nope sorry you’re not enrolled in enough credits. What?!!! How many people have opened my account and saw this was the only freaking class I was in?!! Why have me jump through so many hoops if I wasn’t even eligible in the first place? Zero help or communication from anyone in the financial aid department. I urge anyone thinking of going to any Maricopa school to go else where this behavior is consistent across every college within the system. I’m a working single mother, I don’t just have $300 lying around to pay for classes, which is why I applied for financial aid! Thanks for waisting my time and energy for absolutely nothing. One of the worst customer services I've had to deal with. I bought 15$ dollar headphones and I wanted to return them the same day because they couldn't plug into the school computers. I had ask (in the most generous way) if I could get my money back and get different headphones. I just wanted to do my homework on the school computers. Joana (the lady working at the store) stated that " you can't return these headphones. Once you open them you can't refund them". In my head, I thought to myself ' Any student that opens a textbook can't get their money back even if it's the wrong textbook'? When I first purchased these the same day, she didn't even give me a receipt. she just said thanks & went back on her phone. However, I walked back into the store and then stated that " On the receipt that you didn't give me the first time coming to bookstore stated that "Non-Textbook items may be returned within 30 days of purchases. She then stated that "It doesn't cover all scenarios and situations" She then proceeded to play on her mobile device. Never go to this bookstore unless you want the employees to ignore you.Joseph Perrine

Giving negative stars should be an option. Followed the class plan to get my psychology degree given to my by one counselor only to be told that was wrong the semester I was set to graduate. Got another plan from a different counselor paid out of pocket to take the psych course I WAS TOLD THAT WAS ALL THAT WAS NEEDED, confirmed I completed ALL necessary classes, took time to walk across the stage. When months went by and I hadn't gotten my degree I reached out only yo find that counselor was no longer there and the math class she said I didn't need yo get my degree was needed BUT they don't offer that class anymore. Person I spoke with tried to brow beat and guilt trip me into taking a basic degree. I didn't spend 12k to NOT get the degree I signed up for on day 1. This is a deceptive practice forcing students to taken more classes they don't need because your counselor screwed up 2 OF THEM!!! Shame on you for not owning your mess up and making it right.G H

Not too bad of a school overall — class and professor wise. However, the enrollment and financial aid staff are horrible. Terrible and irritating process to get you set up with everything. This was back when I first started going there in 2012. Not sure if anything has improved or not. They were also VERY understaffed at the time. It took me so long to graduate as well because I would get mixed instructions from different counselors. You never get the same counselor twice. Granted I made it in 2 years but I did have to do summer classes because of the 'changes' that kept happening with my degree. The counselors are not very well trained with each degree program. It's best to literally ask your professors about it or you can get a better understanding from counselors at the University you want to attend later. The teachers I had were phenomenal! Just wish the main office staff were better at their jobs.Caitee Proulx

When we got there we weren't sure if we were going to have a really long wait in line but no what we found was the nicest people posted at the cones that they had set up for the direction you were supposed to go in. They gave excellent information and instruction and we had absolutely no problem getting through our checkpoints which they did check that you had an appointment and verified some information and then we went right straight on through and there was one car in front of us getting an injection and it just took a minute and they drove off and we pulled up and they gave us our vaccines. There were two of us in the car we both had appointments and again everyone was just really super nice very knowledgeable about what was going on. They knew their job and they did it very well. This campus is amazing and not nearly as sprawled as any of the other community colleges/universities. The engineering, mathematics, computer science, and physical science (chem/bio/physics) classes are top notch. The smaller classes sizes means you're getting more personal attention and education than ANY of the universities for any of your classes. I really mean that. Also, there is always decent parking, since the buildings are all in the center (for now). I would have finished my degree here, but it was way too far when I lived in central PhoenixLloyd Allen

I would not recommend this school, I am truly and whole heartedly regretful of choosing this school over all of the other options I had. Something about this school stood out to me, and the counselors here try really hard to get you in. I do not identify with Christian faith and I am not religious at all so I initially felt weird about going to this school, but they mention multiple times that they accept all faiths and backgrounds so I felt better. However, upon talking their forced “Christian Worldview” class, the teacher grades with an iron fist for a 101 class and is just awful. My GPA for sure was going to plummet due to this stupid 101 class that they force on you. Honestly it was so ridiculous that I felt the need to reach out to my advisor. I was trying to come up with a solution because I felt some type of way about this. I suggested them placing me with a different teacher, since this teacher has AWFUL reviews going back years yet they do nothing about it. However they pretty much told me I still had to take the class, I could not switch to another teacher (you cannot pick your own teachers by the way which is huge for me now). Their only solution was that “another teacher would review my work.” This turned me off so bad from the entire school that I ended up withdrawing due to principal which messed up my financial aid. They honestly did not care one bit and obviously know there is a problem but do nothing to address it. I was so turned off that I chose to mess up my financial aid and just pick another school, there was no way that I was finishing out my degree here after this. Go elsewhere !!Taylor

I am an Atheist. I chose this college because it had the focus I was looking for, the delivery method was fully online so I could continue to work, and the price was the best around. I did not feel like being of the Christian faith was a prerequisite. My instructors and professors were not pushy with religion, and for a master's program, I felt like I was able to learn what was necessary for the field I was in. I have a Master's degree and 2 focuses now from GCU and I couldn't be happier with my education and experience. The guidance counselors were great, the financial aid process was easy, and I'm grateful for GCU and all they have done for me.April Wittmeyer

Parking in Garage building#7 on 33rdAvewas the best for going into the areana. We had to checkin at theguard station, drive around it then enter the parking garage. Parking was allowed on the 2ndfloor and above. It was the AFHE homeschool senior graduation. The campuswas very green. The areana was building #38 there is a museum to JERRY COLANGELO here and a beautiful tripple cross monument. The restrooms are spacious and everything but the soap dispensers are automated. The seats of the arena were a tight squeeze to sit down on if you are 1x or biggerEileen L. Smith

As someone who isn’t from the USA and relocated from United Kingdom , it was important that I made the correct choice when it came to education in the United States , after doing my research and reaching out to different schools who have a massage program I chose gateway because from the first contact with Mr Tapscott he was super friendly , passionate and helpful , he made sure I had all the information I needed and he directed me to the right place to complete my registration to the program . The price is amazing and they definitely can charge way more for the service they provide , gateway and especially Mr Tapscott made the process so easy and comfortable . My first day of class was so welcoming and they went the extra mile to make sure I/ we students were comfortable , I had the best experience at gateway and this experience was due to my fellow classmates but mostly for the teachers attitude and pride in teaching , Mr Tapscott , ms bouer, and mr Ybarra were amazing , they are so good at what they do and the effort and dedication they put in to each and every student sets them apart from any other education opportunity I’ve taken , we created a family and this includes the teachers , they allowed us to learn at our own pace and didn’t disrespect us , they encouraged us , the material in the program was inspiring and the method of teaching made the learning fun , it was a pleasure to go to gateway for the 9 months of the program and I looked forward to seeing my teachers and classmates everyday throughout the course , the program allows for Externship which gives us the opportunity to work with others in the community also work with employers of massage therapy , it gives you an insight to what to expect after the program . This in my option gives you the experience and confidence to be successful in your future , I love Mr Tapscott and is in my opinion an amazing teacher , a kind , honest , trustworthy person who has pride in his work , he has a pride for everything he does or talks about , I couldn’t of asked for a better college to attend and I am blessed to be apart of the experience and to see people who are passionate about what they do to improve peoples lives . I felt included and that I had a voice within this experience. I recently graduated from the Massage Therapy Program at Gateway. Mr. Tapscott and his team were the most supportive, inspirational, knowledgeable and humorous group of instructors I have ever studied under. Mr. Tapscott taught the online portion of the course that was heavily weighted in anatomy, physiology and introduction to massage therapy. Mr. Tapscott was always offering assistance to students and following up on financial aid, GI Bill funding, finding places to do externships, or assisting with any other issues the students may have faced. The lab portions of the class were taught by Mr. Ybarra and Ms. Bauer, both experienced massage therapists, both dedicated to successful outcomes for all the students. Mr. Ybarra is known for his demonstrations on various massage and stretching techniques during labs. All three instructors shared a great many stories of their experiences in the massage industry. This team of teachers worked very well together and created an environment where the students felt proud to be part of the class and continuously improved in their massage skills through out the course. Each teacher has a great sense of humor, will be direct if there are issues to address but they are always respectful and professional. The program was also the start of many long lasting friendships and a successful future in the massage industry for myself. I highly recommend the Gateway Massage Therapy Program for anyone that has a desire to improve peoples lives.Kathleen Dimitruck

DO NOT ATTEND THIS SCHOOL!!! I have been attending this school for a while. When I had enrolled I wasn’t given proper information. I do online school and I’ve been struggling with math and biology and to my surprise the instructors do not put the effort in to help other students online. I went in to speak to an advisor and low and behold she didn’t help either. I have a learning disability and stated that information to the advisor and the best answer she gave me was “unfortunately we don’t have special services for students who have disabilities” I’m in the process of getting my associates degree in DMS and no advisors informed me before I started the program that I needed to take an HESI Exam. Another thing is for students who do the online classes, students have to their webcams on to take the tests/quizzes but don’t require it during other class time such as completing assignments. IM VERY DISAPPOINTED IN THIS SCHOOL!!! THERE IS NO HELP WHAT SO EVER AND DONT HELP STUDENTS SUCCEED!! DONT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY!!!! And because I struggle in math, I’ve tried free Tutoring and they only available for an hour and if you need more time you need to make a new appointment. An hour gets 3 questions done and they still don’t walk you through the process.Monica Balderrama

Mesa has a lot of great classes and opportunities but there are major issues. The sign up process for classes is confusing, many of the pathways online that are supposed to show you the courses you need for degrees are incorrect. Of course you should contact advisors to figure out which classes you need, but it is nearly impossible. There are so few advisors and very little availability. As of right now it asks you to make in person appointments with them and yet there are never any slots open. You can email advising which takes 2-3 days to get a response. You can try and call their office and wait on hold for an hour just to eventually get hung up on. It is in no way the advisors faults, anyone I have actually been able to contact has been as helpful as possible, but it is so hard to get a response or any help. I signed up for courses that the online pathway said I needed only to find out that they weren't actually necessary for my degree and others were. When I went to drop the courses and add the new ones it wouldn't let me because I owe money for the courses I am still enrolled in that haven't even started yet. So, I cannot sign up for the correct courses, have no clue which classes I actually need and cannot find advisors to help. I understand during the pandemic it is difficult for universities to find staff and help, but even before COVID Mesa was still just as inefficient. Mesa just needs to improve their communication and assistance with students, it would solve so many issues.Taylor Pouncey

MCC has a fantastic non-credit program for older adults: NFLL, or New Frontiers for Lifelong Learners. For an extremely reasonable fee, I sign up for as many of the program's classes as I please. They're online, in-person, or a mix of the two. There are also some field trips; we've just gone to a free day at the Desert Botanical Gardens, and next week there will be a trip to the new one in Queen Creek for a fee. A class on WW2 planes had a trip to Falcon Field, etc. Over the last few years I've taken classes in history, tech, health, music, and much more! There are also groups for discussion, playing games, hiking for 3 different levels, etc., as well as social and service activities. In-person classes are at MCC Mesa and Red Mtn campuses usually. Some classes have been through Great Courses, and many lecturers are former teachers/professors or experts in their field. Check it out–great program at low price! Update: on-campus classes are so easy to get to: it's a small campus (either Dobson or Red Mountain), and the free parking is ample and easily accessible.Natalie Satterthwaite

So I just signed up today.. I think which is the problem. There’s like 5 people sitting at a desk “helping” people get set up but they did absolutely nothing to help me get signed up they didn’t tell me I couldn’t sign up for my class the same day as I walked in and told them exactly what class I wanted and that I never attended college before. They don’t tell me it’s some weird 24 hour wait for the account to start working and they also did not at all clarify to make sure to take the student photo because now that I chose to skip that because NOBODY helped me I’m unable to finish my application lol hice apparently if I don’t finish in 48 hours will be deleted? They also didn’t tell me that. So this has been an absolutely awful experience thus far and I haven’t even been able to join a class yet.Ryan Jorgensen

Signing up was easy, I was provided help at every step in order to insure my success when I completed my diploma, I felt confident enough to move forward with a degree. Once I completed my diploma and as I have been working on my degree I have had the best career advisor. Even though life got busy with work, school and home issues and sometimes I did not respond, my career counselor Marianne Cooper never gave up on me. I attended Brookline College online in the Medical Office Administration program. From the beginning at admission, to the instructors and career services it has been a great experience. Everyone was always willing to assist you with whatever is needed and very responsive to all communication. This program has taught me a lot and has given me the experience and knowledge needed to make the transition into the career field I've always wanted to be in. I have a mobility scooter because I can't walk very well anymore. This scooter is electric and I don't go very far on it as it has a limited range. The park I go to some times is far (in a wheelchair). I cut through the north campus parking lot 100's of yards from any building to save some battery. I felt dejected today when I was accosted by one of the campus police telling me to leave as is a closed campus. It did not feel like it was for my safety as much as him exerting his authority. I was just cutting the corner of the campus away from anyone. Edit: This happened around noonish on the same day I posted. Edit2:Not fair to the school so Just the Officer gets a one star for that day. The school itself is pretty awesome.D. O.

I decided to take 2 classes this semester, both in person classes. One started in September and the other in October. My September class is amazing! I love the teacher and the curriculum. My October class was switched to online only days before it was supposed to start- I paid and signed up for an in person class specifically, and was not notified by anyone that it had been moved to online, leaving me with one day to find another class, or bite the bullet and do an online class. Very unhappy with the communication of the school.carly

They are a horror story. 2018 I applied for being a personal trainer. They put me in a weird stack of classes including world religion and other classes. They said I can't change no matter a student advisor's mistake. When I dropped classes they claimed I owed them almost $400 for their mistake and out a freeze on my FAFSA.Scandy Italian Ice

I absolutely love the RT program here, the instructors are probably the best I have ever had. They have super high standards, but they also help you reach those high standards. The school is a bit pricey, but you get helpful instructors, with real experience, and who are ready to assist you whenever you need it. Plus, the hands on experience in class is a huge benefit. The only two downsides is not the program itself, but the food and beverage options in the school “cafe”, and the uniforms. For the price of the program, the uniforms are very stiff, and definitely nothing close to decent quality. So, if your enrolling, make sure to put some $$ aside to buy comfortable scrubs that actually fit you. As for the cafe, it would be great to have a real coffee machine (not instant coffee), so we don’t have the need to go off campus for caffeine. Overall though, I love my program, the instructors, and the new career PIMA is helping me prepare for. I definitely would recommend PIMA to anyone who wants to actually start a new medical career!Christina Romero

This school is easy to get started at. I was admitted to the RT program immediately after taking some brief tests and completing a mock study schedule. It is not a cheap option, but the wait list for cheaper schools is two years long…so I decided to get my schooling done rather than wait. I hope that the high price of education here all goes to the instructors, because they are the only worthwhile part of attending here. The admissions staff will make whatever promises they need to make to get you signed up, even if it is something they can’t deliver. The facility and equipment is old. The programs are fast paced and will leave you behind unless you are serious about learning the material.Derek Aaron

Choosing Pima Medical Institute and their Respiratory Therapy program was one of the best decisions my family and I have made. The program was very thorough and straightforward in the teachings. The thing I enjoyed the most was the constant engagement you were able to have with the instructors. Everyone is very open and willing to help in any situation whether it was school related or just life in general. The PD is amazing and she will do everything in her power to make sure you are not only a successful graduate but you are a successful RRT for many years to come. The school is great if you are a nurse. Don’t get me wrong I have nurses in my family and love them dearly. However if you are going for any other programs but nursing just know that you might be forgotten. The teachers in the program you select will do anything to help you get ahead and make sure you graduate. They will provide tools and even one on one sessions. Graduation was bitter sweet. I made and found my footing to do what I love. But everyone one else was forgotten. My family thought they were at the wrong graduation because all they talked about was the nursing. Not even a mention of any other program and those in that program working hard to be where they are today. I am currently attending the MBC program and I absolutely love it! My instructor has made going back to school very enjoyable and I truly look forward to class every time. She is knowledgeable and extremely helpful. I feel that I will be ready to start my new career by the end of my time here at Carrington. I had a great experience with Kinsee, she was very helpful and giving me clear information on what to expect from the medical assisting program. I was shown around the building I was explained what every room was used for and where I could go to seek help for every situation I would need. Wether it be help to look for a job, break room, finance room and more. I was shown the ins and outs of the building, the classroom I would be in. And she explained some of the tools in the classroom I would be working with. She made me feel welcomed and excited to start at Carrington.Mariela G

I took the 4 week CNA program during the summer and am now certified and working in a hospital. The class was incredibly informative and prepared you tremendously for the exams. I went into my exams incredibly confident and was helped throughout the program with any questions I had. While the program itself was amazing, there were several instances that made getting my certification from the program miserable. My instructor was the sweetest woman but spent most of the time questioning her own knowledge on the topics she was teaching. We had another instructor come in to assist our class and she spent a lot of time talking down to the students for messing up simple steps on topics we were just taught for the first time minutes prior. One student had a breakdown due to being constantly ridiculed by this instructor (management was told and nothing changed) most students avoided her like the plague. The two instructors who taught my class would then bicker with each other on what was correct in front of the entire class, it was extremely unprofessional. I would recommend this program, I just hope they have talked to their team and discuss how to handle conflicts better.Hailey Carpenter

I completed my CNA program with AMTI & would definitely recommend it to anyone that's willing to commit to a few weeks of hard work. The program is fast paced but if you study & stick with it, you will succeed. It definitely feels like the course is geared towards those wanting to go into hospice, long term care, etc. but I always knew I would be going the acute route after graduation – I am now working as a nursing assistant in the ICU at a hospital here in the valley. I don't know what these reviews talking about having their money stolen are all about, it's made very clear from the beginning that if you cannot keep your grades up & be there for lectures/instruction, you will not receive a refund. My only comment for improvement is that all the instructors get on the same page, we left a lot of classes confused because one instructor would tell us one thing & another would tell us otherwise. I am so happy I went with my gut & decided to attend AMTI. I just finished my CNA weekend 7 week program & passed my state boards on the first try. I did experience some uncertainty when speaking with student services, I had some questions that I didn't feel were answered properly. I even went down to the campus for more information & I didn't leave confident that this was the right school to choose. I took a risk & went with it anyways. The instructors were absolutely wonderful. Barb E. was my skills instructor & you can tell how much passion she has for nursing and for training future CNA's and nurses. These teachers truly give you so many resources and provide you with every thing you need to pass the program and pass your state boards. I highly recommend taking your CNA training here. I started the Respiratory Therapy program in 2007, as a non-traditional student seeking some sort of career in the medical field, but having no background in medicine whatsoever. It was hands down the best decision I ever made in terms of career choices. My instructors and the Program Director were patient, knowledgeable, and so caring. I graduated and was able to find work in the field right away here in Tucson. I loved the culture at Pima Medical Institute so much that I came back 10 years later to teach, helping to educate future RTs in the field. I would recommend PMI to anyone needing more individualized attention than a university setting generally provides, as well as anyone who needs a structured school schedule that is designed to still allow for work.Samandrea Barkley

I whole heartedly recommend PMI-Tucson nursing program. This is not your typical nursing school. Yes, it is accelerated, but they care! I am a student that travels from Phoenix every week to attend school, and both the program director Mrs. Wiebelhaus and the clinical director Mrs. Morelli regularly check-in to make sure I am doing okay. When I got sick and had to miss two weeks of class, my instructors made sure I had all the notes and homework so that I did not fall behind. PMI is a wonderful school to attend for nursing! I absolutely love my instructors, and I know they genuinely care about me and the level of education I receive. So much thought is put into each individual class, and there are many resources to reach out to if you need additional help. I just started my first semester of school and I will update to keep my review true to the stars I give. I never finished college when I was supposed to, 20 years ago, so now I’m back! It was hard looking for schools that would take me and my grades. There aren’t too many nursing schools in the Vegas Valley but I talked to a lot of them. They told me I would have to retake my classes, and/or take more classes before they would even let me in. I figured it would be an extra 1-3 years before I even got into their programs and I didn’t know what to take first and in which order to take them. Everything was so confusing! So I am glad that AZ accepted me in (with my HS GPA). Bruce was amazing and he made things easy in bringing me into the college! Ask for him if you’re interested in applying here. It’s a fairly new college to the Las Vegas area. The staff seem to like each other, laugh with each other and enjoy what they do. I love that. Who wants to go to school and learn from staff that hate what they do. Although for the first part of Nursing School we are in actual class for 2 or 3 days a week, it is a FULL time course. In orientation I heard people saying that they were going to work full time. I also heard that by the time you get to the Core classes, there aren’t as many students left. AZ has a high expectation where you have to get at least a B average in certain classes to get into Core. So I don’t believe that trying to go to an accelerated course like this, although “2-3 days a week” and working will work, thus the reason why people don’t make it into Core. You’ve got to put in 100% of yourself in studies. Also there are 2 ways Colleges and University’s get accredited. They are either regionally accredited or nationally accredited. So do your research before choosing a college. I chose this school because I don’t plan to move anywhere in the next 3 years. I want to stay in this school and I don’t plan to transfer out. As for the finance part of it, my military benefit of Post 9/11 covers the entire 3 years. I also applied for FASFA and I’m receiving an amount from them. Arizona College Of Nursing would be best described as a school that only cares about getting money from students. Alex Chang is an advisor who will probably only contact you when it’s good for him, which is probably 20% of the time. Catherine Chege seems like a chicken with her head cut off running around never knowing any correct information talking 1000 mph while giving you the incorrect information and not really caring about anything besides herself. This school has not only wasted my time but wasted my money, with endless lies and promises that at the last minute were taken away. Don’t think this is just a disgruntled student who couldn’t pass, I currently have a 4.0 I was promised to be able to start at a certain date and as the date approached, was told that I would have to wait a year to start my classes, like that was some gift from them to me. So condescending and disrespectful when I have been working myself to DEATH trying to get everything done so I could start core. As if anyone even cared. And to top that off I was told directly by Catherine that at least I only wasted a little bit of time. Yes a little bit of time, three semesters $3000 and taking classes only for this specific program. That sure sounds like just a little bit of time doesn’t it? My so-called advisor never even bothered to reach back out to me because well why would he if they weren’t going to get my money. I would advise before thinking about this school, honestly just teach yourself to be a nurse before You even ever apply— you would probably get much further. They are t worried about supporting nurses they just need to make sure you can afford that $717/ credit hr. Unless you want to waste your time money and mental health go anywhere else but here. I guess they thought ignoring me would make the situation go away but I’ll be letting everyone know EXACTLY how this school operates until I can’t find anymore review sites. If you don’t want to respond to me professionally, then I’ll just allow everyone to know the details of personally. Don’t bother contacting me now either, it’s too late. Arizonas staff members and professors show their genuine role in leading a way for their students success and makes it known that they genuinely care for their students. This medical assistant program was everything I wanted out of a school and my education. Growing up in Hawai’i and the culture there it has become an instinct to seek out anything that feels like a community. I graduated at the beginning of February of this year and after completing 11 weeks of externship here is what I have learned: Any other MAs I work with are extraordinary at their jobs; personable, professional, HIPAA compliant, OSHA compliant, etc. They are wonderful MAs all in their own way but what I feel is profoundly different from them, their education, and the one I have gotten is knowing my scope of practice. It’s become apparent that many MAs like to be directed on what to do and when to do it for their patients, and that’s amazing, however, it is well within our scope of practice to ask questions, to advocate on our patients behalf, and to educate our patients on, not only their rights, but their medical care. My coworkers often ask me WHY I am always going to the providers and asking if a certain treatment will benefit our patient.. well, because I was given the confidence and the knowledge to know that, while I may not suggest or recommend any treatment to a patient, I CAN ask a provider if something different will help our patient. Sometimes they tell me no and every time they have it has been another opportunity to learn. In the often times they do take my inquiries under consideration, more often than not, I find that the treatment/patient care has benefited our patient 1. Because it makes them feel and let’s them know we are all in with them. 2. They are the ones who are actually in control when we’re in a room together. And 3. They just need to be reminded that simple fixes don’t always exist and it’s okay to ask/research what may work for them. It is because of The Allen School that I am not the kind of medical assistant who applies my medical knowledge to my patient.. instead, I apply every patient, their symptoms, their history, and their experiences, to my medical knowledge and build from there. Being in the medical field (especially working in womens health) is what I was born to do. Allen School and my instructors fueled my passion more everyday. I can only hope to represent them to the best of my ability and to continue being the medical assistant I would wish for every single one of my loved ones to have. Allen school is not easy, no one should attend expecting to float through the program without being challenged.. this program cultivates wonderful and highly sought after MAs for a reason. What I will say is, the education you choose could make a difference in how you care for someone’s loved one, you have to ask yourself.. do you want the best education or not? Would you want the MA you have caring for you to be as educated and prepared as they possibly can be? Allen School isn’t perfect.. but you will leave there knowledgeable, you will leave there prepared for your externship, and you will leave knowing you can return to a community that will be there for you. I would like to add that Tara Evans, the externship advisor/coordinator is an absolute god-send. She, too, was born for her position and her passion for Human Resources and matching an MA to the specialty they feel their heart is called to is unmatched. And Dr. Hunt, both an instructor and the director of the school, absolutely will call on you to show up, everyday, as the best version of yourself and.. she will always require that you can defend your knowledge. If you are not sure if this school is a good fit for you, you can tour the campus and ask the student advisor any/all questions you may have. You can come by and meet instructors and see the students in their class-setting. It was the best decision I have ever made for myself but more importantly for my current and future patients.Rubyan Rodriguez

I have only been here for two months but my experience has been very well. The faculty has a very good depth of knowledge in their own area of practice and have a clear understanding of the Medical Assistant role. The Doctor Directing the entire program teaches some of the more challenging classes and shares real life scenarios while presenting the material to help give a better understanding that will help us grasp the subject. Each instructor is always open to answer questions in or outside the classroom. What I also like is that tutoring is available everyday after school. The school has a recognition program, where certain students are recognized for certain achievements in front of their peers every 5 weeks. I look forward to completing the program and starting a new career by the end of the year. I'm glad I chose Allen School of Health Sciences.IRENE GONZALES

The Allen school of health sciences has by far been the best choice i have made in my life. Going into the school I was nervous and excited to open the door to my career, however there was nothing to be nervous about. All the instructors and staff treat you as if you are one of their own and are willing to help you no matter what. Whether it be personal life and you need someone to talk to or if you need help academically, they are always there. My classmates have become my family and there is nothing I would change about my experience. I would like to personally thank Dr. Hunt for believing in me and giving me the chance to have a better life. It's a lot of hard work but will always be worth it in the long run. Arizona College is very disorganized. I started in March of 2020, and now I am leaving to another college due to how I have been treated. My counselor heather was rude. Sometimes I won’t get an email back. I have been back and forth many times through email not only with counselors and financial advisors, but the director Bernadette as well. It seems as though no one knows what is going on. An example, I need official transcripts to move to a new school, I was advised to only make one payment of $269 and my transcripts should be released . Only to be told I needed to pay another $633, then to be told again that the next month I need to finish paying another $269 and an additional $633. All in the month of December. That really put a damper not only on my mood but for the holidays as well. Get ready to hear this! After all those payments the registrar office had told me as soon as I pay for a new transcript they would be released immediately. Nothing to my surprise they are still on hold. This school costs way too much to be as disorganized as they are. Save yourself the headache and avoid this school. My course schedules have been changed many times due to the fact that they had forgotten to enroll me in classes. I was not even notified of these changes. Which affects the amount of aid you receive. I feel as though any person would like to know what they are getting themselves into, especially if they are going to be having a large out of pocket cost . I have not started going to school at Arizona College but, working with their staff has been a breeze. Heather Straight has been super helpful, kind, patient, outgoing, and knowledgeable. She is fast to reply and ensures I understand every detail I need to know. Heather went over my transcript with me and class schedules. Heather also made sure I knew which credits I could transfer over from my current school. The financial advisor Yvonne Inclan was super patient and knowledgeable. She took the time to help me process my FAFSA, introduced me to some scholarships, and went over every detail of intuition. She was clear about everything to ensure I fully understood every charge and fee. Kristy Mobray assisted me with my HESI exam and, she was also very kind, patient, and outgoing. She is very knowledgeable and is also a great asset to this team. Last, Matthew which is the campus director was very helpful. He was very welcoming and kind. Overall, this is one of the most professional and knowledgeable team I have ever worked with at any school. I appreciate all their effort and hard work! Thank you, Arizona College!T C

This school is not regionally accredited so don’t ever try to transfer credits that you have taken here out. I have had great experiences with the professors at this school they have all been wonderful and the coursework is very reasonable. However the administration needs work. I have many fellow students who have both witnessed and been targeted by discrimination from administrators. Financial aid is a mess and there is a contestant revolving door of advisors, my advisor specifically changed three times in the 8 months I attended and they could never seem to locate information that I had sent them multiple times. Administration truly only cares about how this school looks to everyone not enrolled in it. When the company who “accredits” them visited the school the admin made it very clear that we were supposed to give them glowing reviews even if that was not how we felt. There is a lot going on behind the closed doors that you don’t experience until they’ve convinced you to give them your money. I recommend thoroughly doing your research before enrolling here.August Miller

I don't know where to begin. Being frustrated and feeling as though I am giving the runaround, trying to get my diploma and trying to get my official transcript from a school that never answers a phone call during business hours. I never had to rely on a voicemail message to get back in contact with me due to miss understanding of phones calls. I have set up a payment arrangement back in May 2021, and I was told that if I miss a payment out of six months I will have to start all over again. I have been making payments and unfortunately was told that I missed three payments but look at my account and I see they're taking money out of my account. But still won’t give me my diploma. The staff is very rude and have not sympathy or compassion about the students other are trying to make something out of themselves in life. Talking to the staff is like hopping and excepting. Staff that not willing to work with you to try to help me. I've been only help by Miss Sherry, which I was told no longer works there. She's been the only person helping me getting my diploma and trying to get everything situated. I feel frustrated disappointed disgusted and hurt that I can't even depend on the school that I thought would help me succeed in life. This is hurtful and I would not wishes upon no one else. I work so hard live alone have no family here and you're telling me that I can't get any of my transcripts or I can't get my diploma because you guys messed up on your end and you're making me suffer which is not right and unacceptable. As much as I talk about you guys school and the staff that helps me and for someone to sit there and make me feel as though it's my fault is unacceptable. Question would you want to recommend a school to someone? For me at this point I will say no because I see that they're not even trying to help at all but take my money and won't give me my diploma or my transcripts I need to speak to someone and the corporate office as a CEO or CFO that can help meMoquatin Washington

If I could give 0 stars, I would. Every campus that I have spoken to someone on the phone has been rude and dismissive and not willing to help… I attended the nursing program in 2016…completed one semester…and had to withdraw from the second (before it started) because My son was having health issues. They told me to come back whenever I wanted that they would gladly accept me back into the program where I left off… which was absolutely not true! When I tried to go back….i was told I could be accepted into the current semester…Which would have been fine except….they were changing the curriculum the following semester…Which if I would have gone back would have forced me to start all over again…. Also, When I asked If I would be able to have a financial credit for the first semester that I completed because they changed the curriculum, I was told to speak with the head of the nursing dept and then she told me that was a question for financial aid who then referred me back to the nursing dept head…and they both said that they couldn’t help me. Don’t waste your time nor effort here. $24,000 down the drain for absolutely nothing! And not only that, But when you try to have your transcripts sent, it takes forever to actually get a hold of someone…and with the rude staff on the phone at every single campus it’s ridiculous!Melissa Kloess

I’m so happy I came across the Arizona College of Allied Health on google. I requested to receive more information about the college and not even a few days later I get a text from Justin. Justin was very nice and gave me so much information that helped me decide this was the college for me. Before I came here I was at Community Colleges for the last 5 years completing only prerequisites not even in a program yet. When Justin told me I would graduate next year in July getting my DA diploma I was beyond excited. I can’t thank Justin enough for all his help. I just got done with my first track passing all my classes. I could have not done it without Ms. Vosteen. She is the best teacher I’ve ever had at all the schools I’ve been to. I am going to miss being in her classes but I am so excited to continue my journey. Thank you Arizona College of Allied Health for everyone there that I’ve seen have all been so nice and some teachers actually joke around with students instead of being so serious and rude it’s so refreshing being able to be in a environment with teachers like that.Ashley Brandon

Horrible horrible experience. Lack of empathy towards students. Laurie in particular is absolutely horrible at her job. I don’t know her job title or if she even has a degree but, she made me and my families life very stressful. Finding a nursing school should be exciting, but this was a nightmare. It started by calling multiple times and the school not having a profile saved with my information. Laurie, I had to give you my information every time I spoke with you until I was assertive enough to ask if you or someone could possibly create me a profile? Then, before I knew that I guess Arizona College only allows you to get your questions answered by one person, I spoke with another “Admissions Advisor” because I was tired of constantly texting and never could get a reply. I expressed that I would have preferred a phone call. It’s kind of nice to actually speak to someone over the phone especially, when you’re about to make a life changing decision. I just wanted a phone call to see where things were and get the answers I needed. Texting isn’t clear and at that point in the admissions process a phone call should have taken place. Laurie appeared to get upset and stated “I was told you don’t like me and don’t want to work with me?” This is very unprofessional. I was being gossiped about and started to feel there must be bonuses or possible commission involved. I felt like I was in a ran down car lot being pushed to buy a car I didn’t want. All Laurie’s concern was for me to sign the application. She was never enthusiastic about starting nursing school. Something along the lines of “come in and take a tour with your family and see what our campus has to offer. I can also help clarify any questions or concerns you and your spouse may have.” Instead it was always arguing back and forth with her. It was ridiculous! The biggest thing is that I was given the run around multiple times, this was extremely stressful. I was told one thing one minute and another the next. This is why I called someone else to get clarification. I felt Laurie is incompetent. It’s important to know the handbook and what the admissions process consists of. First she wanted this document. Turns out it had to be a different document. Then, she lost the email and asked if I could send another document. Turns out none of the documents worked after being told they would. I was never offered a tour of the school, rarely got a return phone call, texted all day, treated with rudeness, given the run around daily, etc. For a $100,000 degree I expect to have an actual Admissions Advisor helping me through my admission process. I’m not that hard to please and I’m a humble person, but this is uncalled for. Get to know the handbook and what the state or school actually requires for admissions instead of having me do the work to track down and pay for documents that once again won’t work. An advisor that remembers my name, treats me with respect and kindness, and someone who has a profile set-up with my information so that every time we reconnect she has my information in front of her would have been ideal. I shouldn’t have to explain what we just talked about more than 3x. Names of colleges attended, my excellent GPA, my current degrees, reminding her I already sent my transcripts, my current career, reminding her of my name, etc. I'm so glad it didn’t work out. I want a school that supports me and somewhere where I feel secure. If the admissions process is like that then, I can’t imagine how I’m suppose to keep a solid B through the whole BSN program with faculty like that. Absolutely the most stressful admissions process from any school I have looked into. I’m so glad it didn’t work out. Everything happens for a reason. I don’t want to help them improve their graduation rates. I will take my degree in Medical Assisting, 8 years of medical field experience, 1 1/2 years of nursing pre-reqs, and my excellent GPA to a school who values me and my compassion for helping people and saving lives.Lacey Newton

Where do I start!! I submit an inquiry for information about the accelerated BSN program on a Sunday Night. I filled out information for GCU and Arizona College of Nursing. I spoke with Laurie from Arizona College of Nursing **the next day**, and I don’t even remember the name of the person I spoke with at GCU. The minute I spoke with Laurie, she led the way. She helped me get my starter ducks in a row to begin the process for enrollment. She provided all the resources needed to get everything going for the August 31st class. I truly believe that the schools 3-year BSN program and Laurie are the two key points to my decision. As soon as I was in, I was in. She didn’t let me go, she followed-up with me consistently to ensure I was ready and had everything I needed to be successful. I was scheduled for my HESI-A2 test that Friday, passed and have been happy, grateful, excited ever since. The school is very hands-on and engaged to make sure you have what you need and the tools to be successful. Also Ms. Amanda at the front desk is amazing! She’s a total sweetheart and is there for anything you need just as all the other staff members are. Ms. Jardee is also phenomenal! I mean I could go on but I would literally be here forever. They have workshops, laptop programs for an affordable price, with so many more resources and benefits to make sure you are on the right track. Bottom line is, if you’re thinking about enrolling- DO It! And if you’re choosing between Arizona college of nursing and another school, go with Arizona college of Nursing because you will not regret it!!Fatima Nimes

Please do not apply to this school ! Do not apply to the Phoenix campus or the Tempe campus . They only take in students of color to meet the government’s diversity quota for government based grant . They treat students of color like garbage . They actually hired racist , hateful professors like professor Nicole Solomon ! they are bullies. You’ll often see a professor yelling and insulting their students in front of a class like it’s normal . The Dean of nursing and the professors pick their favorites and if you do not fall on that list , good luck to you and your mental and emotional ! This school has to be the worse school I have ever attended! Students are getting abused by professors and if you speak up , they’ll you professor Sabrina Emerson Miller to get rid of you claiming you plagiarized! Stay away from this school ! I accidentally let my BLS expire and could not return to work the next day until I had it renewed. I googled for classes and found CPR 1st. I registered online for a class on the same evening! It was perfect! I was impressed as soon as I walked in! Tyson greeted me and asked me to sign in electronically on an IPad , and I was good to go. The location is setup perfect for CPR clases. Nothing fancy, but very clean, organized, and functional. All of the mannequins were in great shape! Just felt like cleanliness is a high priority here, which is fantastic! Even the bathroom is super clean and has linen towels for hand washing. Way to go on green friendly! Tyson, the instructor is super super awesome!! Very informative and made the class go fast and easy! Gave out all the information that was needed, answered questions, and assisted some people that needed more hands-on guidance for compressions. My E-card was available to print out, save and send to employer within 15 minutes after taking the test. Congrats on having such a great place for CPR training. In the future, I will take my renewal classes here. My hospital teaches this class for free, but I would rather pay out of pocket to attend the class at CPR 1st!! I would recommend this school to anyone that is starting out in healthcare. I am an older student that was passionate about pursuing a career in healthcare. I wanted to learn the basic first before exploring other options in the medical field. I found the school catered to my work schedule and allowed me to learn at a reasonable pace. I completed my CNA program with AZTTI & would definitely recommend it to anyone that's willing to commit to a few weeks of hard work. The program is fast paced but if you study & stick with it, you will succeed. Teanna is as good as they get, she lives and breathes nursing and her passion for teaching is indescribable. She spends the extra time and goes the extra mile, and makes you feel like family. Teanna puts her students before herself. She worked with MY schedule on top of her own to ensure I was successful in this program and could complete within my time frame while I was working my full time job 40+ hour weeks. She is amazing, and so is the rest of the staff! I cannot say enough good things. She even got us graduation goodie bags, and was truly happy that we passed our boards *and did so the first time* because she taught us all we needed. She will make sure you are ready. She is amazing, HIGHLY RECOMMEND! I had to drive about 35/40 mins to the school because I live in another city, and I’d do it all over again. I liked the online option as I live in northern Arizona and couldn't find a nighttime or weekend-only class in this area. Some of us have day jobs we have to work, so it is hard to get a CNA! I still had to go to Phoenix for 20 hours of lab and 40 hours of clinicals. Everyone who works at Resilient is very nice and they give you everything you need to know and do to pass the board exam. The exam requires a lot of studying for both the knowledge and skills portion. I thought getting a CNA would be easy, and the material is not that difficult but it does require putting a lot of time in to study and be ready for the test.Holly

From the first day that I inquired about the CNA course the receptionist Maria was very inviting and welcoming. All along the process of getting started she answered all my questions and gave good feedback. She is very knowledgeable. The office is clean and inviting and the staff are friendly and welcoming.
