20 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Memphis, TN (2022 Updated)

This review is in regards to the disc golf course and not the college itself. The course was uneventful and hardly worth the time. There are very few holes with any sort of technical shots involved. It really came down to how far you can throw your disc. The majority of holes followed the perimeter of soccer fields and many were along side roads, driveways and parking lots. If it was busy or the lots were full of cars, I wouldn't recommend playing even though the before mentioned were considered out of bounds. Many tee pads were far away from the previous basket, making it a hike between holes (not the worse thing). Signage was the best part of this course. Once you find the main map, the layout is fairly simple (which wasn't the case for me at first; played 12-18 before seeing the map). The course is also split by the main road and as someone else suggested, play the front 9 and drive over to the other parking lot to play the back 9. I'd only suggest playing this course if you live in the area and there are no other courses around. This course design feels as if the sports director of the college designed the course without having ever played the sport. But they did work with what they had. Oh and be prepared for water on the course after heavy rain fall. There was standing water and the grass was like a sponge disguising the water till you stepped there. 3 stars is on the generous side.Michael Graeve

My experience here was horrible…it started on my 1st day off respiratory class & ended the day God showed me this institution/program wasn't for me..THANK YOU LORD 🙌🏽 The very 1st day one of the two respiratory instructors showed her lack of professionalism while the other showed & told us "we would fail" long story stort…I should have left that very 1st day, but I tried to stick.it out until things almost got physical because the professor continued to treat me like i wasn't human & talk to me any kind of way..why??? Because I was late one day?? Anywho since then I've become the lead of a big company & have a bachelor's of Science in Biology now to teacher two who said we/I would fail daily & made the classes sooooo difficult jokes on you, but I wish you both the BEST…I WOULD NOT RECCOMEND THIS SCHOOL TO ANYONE….I didn't go into the HARRASMENT OR ANXIETY I ENDURED. From the first day I came in to visit the school until I graduated, everybody on campus was fantastic. Any time I needed help or was struggling, there was always somebody to help point you in the right direction. Everybody I have come into contact with has been extremely helpful. Throughout your program, you will remain in contact with a success coach, for me this was Mr. Hollis. Your success coach will reach out and contact you just to check up on how you're doing and see if there is anything that they can help with. Coming from a 4 year institution, I did not the advantage of a success coach and this adds a level of accountability which helps you to succeed. I just finished one of Concorde’s many medical programs. My admissions advisor was Mr. Todd Hollis, although I believe he works primarily in the business office now, he was a great first impression as to the kind of people Concorde has working for them to help the students succeed. Mr. Hollis answered any and all of the questions I had. He walked me through the step by step application process over the phone as I was completely things on my computer at home. During my time as a Concorde student, Mr. Hollis would always stop and ask me how things we going and always reiterate that he was there to help. If I was able to give this company zero stars I would!!! I started working here in November 2018! I thought that this was a good facility but I was wrong. I was improperly trained and let’s not talk about the hiring process. There were coworkers whom was hired with me that didn’t take a tb skin test. Orientation wasn’t watching training videos etc they basically threw me on the floor. They didn’t know if I was cpr or first aid certified and they didn’t really care. The receptionist by the name of Sherri is a Caucasian lady with glasses she’s very unwelcoming and she trashed my application. She has a very nasty attitude as well and she’s very sneaky! When I worked from November til February soooo many patients died from so called falls ! There’s almost an entire new set of patients there. They treat them like they’re animals. So much go on in these facilities that the families doesn’t know about and i think they should!!!! There’s even two sisters there with a camera in their room which is against the law!!!! Working here has taught me to never in my life send any of my loved ones to any of these facilities because they can’t be trusted. The patients stay in bed with clothes on from 2 to 3 days ago! They use to complain in the middle of the night about being thirsty and hungry. It was told to say shift that if they don’t eat on the scheduled time then don’t feed them! Also they were always low on supplies and they never had the proper supplies needed to handle the patients like gloves, diapers and bed pads. So if some of you family members all were wondering where were some of your supplies they’d use others supplies on other patients. This is a horrible place to send your elderly people they’re all about money and how many rooms they can fill up! They act as if they’re all together when corporate visits them but they’re not! I’ve witnessed some of the workers even cursing and yelling at patients but when I reported it to the administrator nothing was done about it. Also the administrator Sandra is so messy and she’s all about her money and could care less about any patient in that facility. Their turn over rate is ridiculous! Can never keep workers and obviously hire any and everyone that basically just needs a job! I wouldn’t advise anyone to do business with this company they’re all a bunch of frauds if u ask me. And needs to be on the news and under investigation! There was a woman there with staph infection and they would not send her to the hospital. She was actually sharing a room with another patient. Her skin was very bad and infectious and spreading. Once they sent her to the hospital because they waited so long she died! And I witnessed this the first couple of months after being hired! There’s a lot of bad things happening at Quailridge so families do your research before u take your love ones there!ASH OF ALL TRADES

My grandmother lived here for about 3 years. During that time she fell and broke bones 3 times. The facility would have a 100% turnover in staff about every 3 – 6 months. This includes directors, managers, nurses, and support staff. The only thing consistent about the place was the location , the decor and the lady who cuts hair. The biggest problem with the place is that they do not provide enough staff to take care of the residents, which in turn causes an impossible workload for the few who try to make it work. upper management would make an occasional appearance and come in and add insult to injury by firing people , writing people up , punitive stuff etc. To those who were unable to handle the ridiculous workload. The company JEA has a model for their CA's and labor management (CA's are those on the front line , the people who bathe, dress and assist the residents to dinner, activity room etc. ) 2 CA's per 10 residents. That is the problem with this place. Do not send your loved one here . Bad company !Glenn Davis

We used Quail Ridge for respite care. I was very nervous about putting mom anywhere (I was afraid no one would really care for her like I do). I can honestly say, this was the best decision ever, for mom and myself. All her caregivers love her, the administration is quick to help with concerns, the activities have made it fun, the food is fabulous, the support staff caring, and she is happy. That is the most important thing. My mom has been very happy and cared for. I will use the facility again for respite care and would recommend it to anyone who wants a place for a relative with Alzheimer/Dementia; for permanent care or respite care as we have done. Unfortunately we do not have funds to keep mom here right now, but if I did, I'd leave her! I love all the staff and the residents. It's going to be hard to leave this family.Penny Johnson

I got a 2 week trial so that I could test this place out. It is huge, and has a lot to offer. I only did the swimming pool area. The pool water is very cold. I would have liked it to have been warmer. The water slide is really fun. The hanging rope will eat away at your hands. I didn't try it, but my niece did and she got some blisters from it. The lazy river was very enjoyable. The hot tub was nice. I liked how they had the machines to dry your clothes when you are done swimming too. Great facility for families.Donna Miller

My brother has had a policy with this company for many years. He passed away on October 8th and on the 18th they charged his checking account for his policy. I called to let them know that he passed, the girl Wendy Said ok. I told my dilemma and she said without a court notice of me taking over his policy account. I didn’t have a leg to stand on and they’re going to continue to draft his account monthly. I said I will have the death certificate within the next week and she said it didn’t matter. Great friendly and very professional staff. The notified us of a missed payment to help us maintain our membership in good standing. We had just slipped by us . We've been customers with them for over 20 years and they called my wife to let her know about the payment because we have never missed any payments with them. They waved any penalties or fees. This is the GO TO company for senior care needs. Excellent care for my mother for 2 years after she was diagnosed with vascular dementia. Then we transitioned to care for my father. I was able to take a 5 day vacation trip with my kids and grandkids this past week. I chose 24/7 coverage so I could enjoy the time away. I was referred to Caring Companions from another agency. I was nervous but knew I had to have help with my mother. Caring Companions was an answer and a true blessing from God. When I spoke with the owner, Renee all my anxiety was reduced. I felt as if I were talking to a friend. She and her staff worked diligently to find the sitters I needed. The University of Memphis is a great urban University in the heart of Memphis, Tennessee. It has grown and developed tremendously over the last 20 years. I am an alumnus with bachelor's and master's degrees in business. My father earned his EdD here, my wife (accounting) and one of my children (music) are also graduates, and I have two more children that will be seniors this year, one in child development and one in French. There are many notable alumni, including Brad Martin, the retired chairman of the board of Saks Incorporated, who could live anywhere in the world and chooses to live in Memphis, TN. My degrees from Memphis prepared me well and have served me well in my 28 year career in financial services. I still have close connections with some of my grad school professors, and I teach in the business college as an adjunct. We have many dedicated and deeply experienced faculty who truly care about their students. Like all organizations, not all employees are as strong or friendly or caring as others, but the majority of the people I have worked with and was taught by are excellent. Memphis has great facilities (getting better all the time), and a strong, diverse, and highly engaged student body. As with all higher education, you will get out of it what you put into it. My kids have all placed a high priority on their education (partly because we did, but also on their own) and as a result have done well academically and socially. They have been highly involved in campus life, including numerous academic, social, and professional student organizations. They have truly thrived and grown and matured here. Any time I've had to deal with administration over credits, applications for scholarship/dorm/etc. something has been messed up and its a nightmare to fix. I wish the school cared less about sports and more about my major, and how we don't have much in the way of resources. The food was pretty bad when I had a meal plan but I've heard its getting better. My time in the LLC was pretty fun. My professors have been great. The library is great, except for the time they charged me $300 in overdue fees when I returned all my books on time, and I had to talk to 3 people before one finally looked for my books, which were all sitting on the shelves. Wish tuition wasn't going up. Literally anything that has to do with money or bureaucracy is a nightmare – when I dealt with Bursar's they give me eye rolls and sighs and act like I'm the biggest inconvenience because the classes I paid for and passed with A's aren't showing on my transcript and it's screwing me out of scholarships! I don't know where the university finds its employees. But I absolutely loved my program and my professors! I just hate that my school is run like a for-profit business!!!Breanna Parker

Advisors are slow to respond to emails, ya have to contact advisors a week in advance to schedule something, rather than within a week regardless of deadlines. I am a transfer student and i have received a letter saying they have my records however when i sign for classes online it says i need prerequisites i have already taken and so i tried getting a permit but their permit site is down. the registration processs is more confusing than anything and is very fustrating. Also to reach somebody by phone you have to wait absolutely forever before you may get a hold of someone, it is rediculous.Jon McCarthy

Great college! I graduated in 2018 with my Bachelors in Biomedical Sciences. The faculty and staff are very warm and supportive. If you utilize your resources and are a hard working student you will prosper. Take advantage of the tutoring services and your Professors office hours when you can. The Biomedical Sciences staff is very supportive and will give you all the tools you need to succeed. There are so many great places to study if you don’t want to study in your dorm room or if you live off campus. The campus is very safe with 24 hour security. I lived on campus and I felt safe the entire time I was there. If you ever have an issue or concern there is always someone you can speak with. The school is always hosting events for students to participate in during their free time between classes and study breaks. I suggest that everyone try to get involved with a club or activity at Baptist because it allows you to connect with other students and have a break sometimes.Diamond Daniels

I’ve been here for a year now. I am a non-traditional student. I’m married and have three kids. This school has been so wonderful and supportive! The professors are so devoted to the student’s success too! The material is a lot harder than I was used to when I transferred here, but with discipline and time management I have caught up. The cafe is pricey- but other than that, I have nothing that I would change. They really go all out for students and are always doing some thoughtful kind of thing for us. If you can this should be your last option school. It takes absolutely to long to become a nurse. It’s usually 2 years once you get into a program, but their program is actually like 2 years and 4 months. They handled the pandemic terribly. Everyone else school moved on, but Baptist is the only one that held their students back by extending graduation dates. They made sure they didn’t lose money though. I never understood how you can get no breaks, such as summer or anything, you go to school way more than other students at different nursing programs, but finish after them.Mathie Zone

Pricey. Not worth taking out student loans for. Overall not a good investment for African Americans and 1st generation college students. I enjoyed my academic experience there. It wasn't terribly challenging or anything, but they offer a lot of interesting classes. I had a few really great professors that were very influential to me. And one thing I loved was the small classes (my gf had a 400 level class with 4 people in it once), and the fact that a lot of professors were very accessible outside of class. On the other hand, the student body was very one-dimensional. I constantly felt like I was meeting the same person over and over again. The large majority of people at Rhodes come from similar socioeconomic and ethnic backgrounds as well as have similar interests, values, and goals. Campus social life primarily revolves around Greek life. They tout that everyone finds their niche at Rhodes, but what really happens is you usually learn how to fit into the "Rhodes" niche. If you don't find yourself fitting into the Rhodes niche, don't worry. There are other people who feel the same way you do, and by junior year small pockets of people will emerge outside the Rhodes bubble that you might enjoy integrating into. However, this is a very small number of people, and you'd more than likely have enjoyed yourself better at a school that was actually diverse. Don't underestimate how important diversity is before you go to college. Also the administration sucks and is useless.Aditya Biswas

There is not a day that goes by that I do not miss Rhodes College. The doors it opened and the opportunities I had to not only impact communities but be impacted by them will stick with me forever. Rhodes helped me to develop into an individual that values the humanness in everyone. It challenged me to look at the life that I am living and ask myself how I can utilize this life to help others find joy in their lives. I made some amazing friends! I still keep in contact with the administration and go to alumni events quite often. I graduated in '12 and, though I understand many of my peers had experiences where they felt like diversity was an issue, my experience was one of inclusiveness. I was able to mingle with all people and make friends across societal divisions. It was an absolutely amazing four years. My advice to prospective students is to reach out if you find that you need help. The support here is tremendous. As an alumni from the class of '12, I admit I have a love-hate relationship with Rhodes. While I appreciate the wonderful professors and people I have met, I am very disappointed with the Rhodes administration. Rhodes simply does not take diversity seriously. Racial / socio-economic / & sexual orientation discrimination is rampant on campus, yet Rhodes fails to properly address the problems. Amazing and life altering professors are never recognized or granted tenure. And no reason is given (ex: Banerjee, Johnson, etc) Although I am truly thankful for my experiences at Rhodes and the doors it opened, I will never support Rhodes again until action is taken to make Rhodes a true liberal arts college that welcomes and embraces diversity. Emails sent to administration remain unanswered. Prospective students, BEWARE, it's probably best to keep looking if you're a minority!David Siu

I attend night classes here probably about 1 or 2 months ago. It was well worth it. Instructors care and answer any questions you may have. They will even stay a little late to help work on a skill you didn’t understand. If you are paying out of pocket you can make payments as many times as you would like while in class just make sure you pay in full before you head off to clinicals. The difference is all the instructors care about you passing and succeeding. If you are serious about getting your foot in the door this is the place to go! This School was so good and really worked with me when I was out sick. They set a day aside so I can complete my skills I missed and help me get my certificate. If you pass the class the instructor will set up your State test for you. They even summarize the CNA book so you get only the best information and not the dead space in between. They are very unprofessional inside the office, so much gossip and mess goin on in the clients home, all they talk about is their top paying rich clients! They communicate through text! My name is Yoshikage Kira. I'm 23 years old. My house is in the northeast section of Memphis, where all the apartments are, and I am not married. and I get in my room every day by 9:25 PM at the latest. I don't smoke, but I occasionally sleep. I'm in bed by 11 PM, and make sure I get eight hours of sleep, no matter what. Yet still haunted at night by the nightmarish restrictions JobCorp holds and the horrid smell of rooms and declining hygiene of staff and students alike, their breath is a serious problem. After having a glass of warm milk and doing about twenty minutes of stretches before going to bed, I usually have no problems sleeping until morning, realizing I still have to deal with this place. Just like a baby, I wake up without any fatigue or stress in the morning until I realize I'm still at this emotionally unstable staff infested, same food from the week before, prison like place which shouldn't be called a Job Preparation center. It's ironic it's called that because the staff never admits their wrongs or do their jobs and edit student statements to make this dumpster fire of a place look good. I was told there were no issues at my last check-up. I'm trying to explain that I'm a person who wishes to live a very quiet life. I take care not to trouble myself with any enemies, like winning and losing, that would cause me to lose sleep at night. People tend to get here 7 to 14 days after their second interview. But know that the situation here has some omission. When you get here you'll spend a month not in your trade, you'll then take two tests that are designed for you to fail. If you do faile you'll do 60 hours of basic reading and math until you do pass. No trade training though. Or very little at best. I thought I was out of the woods when I passed on the first try, but then there's the living conditions. Mold on the vents, consistently cold in the dorm even in January (on account of their wallets I'm sure) and a flu outbreak where it took my seven days to get any help even with a fever. And I'm a lucky one. There's a reason they can't meet their quotas, however I graduate in about a month, and I'll be leaving with all I came for and more, with a free trip back home. In one word ‘Impressive’ but here’s more… I have family members there, initially I was very mis-informed as to what Job Corps (JC) was about; I attended two orientations plus I did an on-site tour, each encounter was very professional and personable. This is a great opportunity for the younger generation to get a Great start on a Better future. My advice is for you to do your own assessment on what JC has to offer.. versus the false information, because this is a hidden gem for those needing directions to a better future. I went here from September of 2018-May 2019. Classroom: My instructor didn’t really “teach” but was available if questions needed to be answered. It was quite a chilled and laidback classroom setting. Curriculum was easy to follow. The coursework was pretty much laid out. Breaks: I really liked that we had our own lunch area at the back of the classroom because, well, there was no way I was going to the main cafeteria with that crowd. These people would not clean up after themselves and were extremely loud and chaotic. No way. Environment: Most of my classmates were respectable peers, however, the students at this school have issues. If you are a decent person that keeps to herself, beware— bootmouth thots run amok and will hate on you for absolutely no reason, hints of racism from foreign students and domestic students will be apparent and students belonging to certain programs will stick their nose up at you. 100% not joking nor exaggerating. Social depravity at its finest. Student Services: Hit or miss. It can be super crowded in there during January, May, and September. Please don’t go during these times unless you want your paperwork “misplaced”. I have no real complaints other than some of the staff seem to be mentally lacking and this could be crucial for requesting your diploma, transcripts or waiting to receive your check disbursements. Overall, Classroom: C+ Breaks: A Environment: F- Student Services: C Decent, (for the budget) school to get your foot in the door of whichever career choice you pursue.JustTerri

The employees here are very unprofessional and very much comfortable in doing whatever it is that they want they catch attitudes and make you jump through all kinds of hoops to get what you need. I was trying to get my test scores and as soon I finished testing I was told the test giver was gone for the day after 45 mins of raising suspicion and asking to speak with her boss she suddenly appears and gives me my test scores they speak to students here in a manner as if your incarcerated. Employees at this location lack proper etiquette when it comes to professionalism I tested at this location three times before I was informed that we could use a calculator for the math portion of test finally I pass the test when I used the calculator and was waiting on test scores so that I could sign up for classes in September at the covington location sadly I didn't make the deadline due to the test giver leaving for an hour and wasn't able to get all my paperwork in time for 2022 class year so I'll be attending classes fall of 2023 there needs to be an in-service given to the employes of tcat memphis on basic job responsibilities because you guys lack what it takes horriblyJAYE BURD

Seriously considering going anywhere else but tcat for education next semester. Idek what the curriculum is. Ive been in school for about a month. I havent learned anything useful. Cant buy school books because the schools certifying official went on vacation in the middle of certification. That lasted two weeks. Now that ive annoyed them into cooperation, apparently school funds and financial aid are late or have been pushed back due to my certification being processed late by the said certifying official. In addition to this Im being mislead by multiple tcat employees on fund availability. Online payment schedules havent been accurate. Im loosing bill money paying out of pocket and no school official ive talked to moves, genuinely cares, or helps unless i act out or until theres nothing they can do. And Maybe its because of the pandemic bt PLEASE HEED THIS WARNING If youre looking to attend a school your better off anywhere else.Jay Curtis
