From moving out of state and trying another community college it is clear that none if not very few colleges care about their students the way Bay does. One of the best nursing schools in the state of Michigan. They require nursing clinical experience which is worth its weight in gold with your training. Tuition is reasonable. Free Parking available. The gym manager is horrendously rude. The rest of the staff is very nice, respectful, and understanding. He doesn’t allow women to wear tank tops but men can work out shirtless. Limited mask usage upon staff, but dare breath for a second and you will get your membership revoked (this happened to me). There is very limited machines and as a senior citizen I felt like I didn’t have any machines I could use. My granddaughters hated this experience when I brought them along. If I could I would give this a negative star rating. I am very disappointed and I would not recommend this facility to anyone who is interested. This place is a disgrace. The many of the professors refuse to meet outside of their office hours, even when their office hours are during another class. As of now I can count no less than 10 broken vending machines on campus, some that haven't been fixed in 4 months! I've called both CMU and the vendors, and neither one wants to fix the machines. I guess they don't want to make money. The parking meters aren't maintained. I found one of the only available parking spaces near the Univerity Center. It was filled with quarters so much that it couldn't accept any more, so I was unable to pay my meter. You supposedly can pay with an app, but it's only available for iPhone, and I have an android, so i want able to pay that way either. I came out to find I had been ticketed for not paying for a space (I didn't have a student pass at the time). This is an absurd business practice. The bathrooms smell like urine all the time, especially in Pearce Hall and Engineering Technology buildings. I have found the same filth left on the toilets in the bathrooms several days in a row. Considering the volume of traffic, those bathrooms should be cleaned twice a day, but at least once a day. The engineering building is the most frustrating sight on campus. When it rains heavily multiple buckets are used to catch the leaks inside the building. There are almost no places to plug in your phone or laptop because there aren't enough electrical outlets in the common areas, and of the ones that are present, many aren't working or are broken. The only reprieve is an extension cord that someone plugged into the cooling of the first floor to access from the common area on the second floor. Otherwise, in order to charge your phone or computer, you have to sit on the floor like a child playing with his toys because the only outlets available are in the middle of a hallway and are meant for maintenance for cleaning rather than students. Basically, you will not find working electrical outlets in the same place as seating areas on campus. All of the sectional furniture in engineering should have been replaced 5 or more years ago, it's all stained and broken down or torn to the point that goodwill probably wouldn't accept it. There are no study rooms in the entire building, making it hard to find places to work on group projects without leaving to make room for a class. The printers in this building are a joke. Most of the ones in the classrooms are blinking because they are out of toner, paper, or just gave up on life. When they are working they often aren't accessible to student accounts and I have to go to the front office to print, except that I have to convert whatever I need to print into a pdf because that's all it accepts. I guess it's too much to expect when they don't even know how to install the door stops in the correct place to…eh…stop a door. I will amend this review when I see that my tuition dollars are being used effectively demonstrate basic maintenance and upkeep on campus. Since no one is interested in fixing the problem, hopefully posting here will make this more of a priority for Central Michigan University.christopher chism

I had a great experience attending this School. There is so much diversity here and different ethnic groups. When I was there I lived in Calkins Hall. It was an all girls Hall back then. I learned so much and made so many lifelong friends. It changed me forever as a person. This is a really good School to go to in a small town. There are lots to do. Ohmygoodness, I have been at Grace Christian University (formerly known as Grace Bible College) for 4 years now and I love it! Coming from a pretty sheltered background, there is so much I have learned about the world, the church, people, my passions, and my worldview during my short time at Grace (and there is still so much more I have been learning!). Honestly, there have been quite a few challenges even here at Grace – afterall, this world will never be perfect until Christ returns (well, this is what I believe) 🙂 I would recommend this fine, challenging, growing institution to anyone who is looking to further pursue their relationship with God, find their identity in general/with Christ, anyone looking for a small-sized campus, and anyone excited about traditions/community on campus. Again, there is so much that I have learned from and been challenged by even within the Grace community. Something that someone very wise once told me, "If it doesn't challenge you, it won't change you" (Brian Sherstad, 2017), has stuck with me ever since I have visited and it is something that continues to encourage my growth mindset even to this day. Best little Christian college. Perfect size. Fantastic, invested, and very friendly professors and faculty and coaches. Loveliest little campus, great food, nice weight room, lovely little Kahawa Cafe (good coffee!!), impressive and dedicated sports programs, TONS of fun on-campus/off-campus events… Very nice and convenient freshman dorm setup; lots of other housing options too. The library is incredible– great place to hang out with friends and study; very wide array of books and Grace history too. Grace is pretty affordable in the way of private Christian colleges. I began my journey with Grace Bible College over 2 years ago, and have been amazed at the support I have received from this institution. Grace is a place where people come alongside not to just help you earn a degree, but to help you better your life. Attended in 2013 and now again from 2018-2020. Lived in the North Hall dorms so far (the new ones with suites that are a bit expensive) and they're about as pristine of living as you're gonna get in a community college, walking distance to everything. Since limited parking space is arguably NMC's biggest problem in the late 2010's, being able to walk to classes is a huge advantage since parking there is a joke. I told them to build a parking garage. They seriously need one. That said for a community college this is a 5-star place to be, but the dorms people are talking about in negative reviews, The East Hall dorms, really do seem pretty awful judging from the 2 times I've been in there to visit friends. There's also on-campus apartments, for 21+ students. So basically here's how to do housing here: East Hall: if you're 18-20, have no regard for quality living and just want a place to goof around, study a bit, sleep, and munch on snacks between cafeteria meals (cheapest) North Hall: You're 20-29, have a bedroom's worth of stuff, and need a full kitchen w/ a refrigerator to share with 3 others, and would share a nice cleanly bathroom with 1-2 others and would like a nice shared living room area with couches. (usually most expensive option they have) Apartments: If you won't settle for less than regular apartment standards of living, have kids, spouse, etc., or have enough furnishings to fill out multiple rooms (middle cost option, I think) Between having a marine technology school, a stargazing observatory, an audio recording studio, an aviation school, an automotive garage, a music & art building, nursing programs galore, and a brand new "innovation center" going up in the year 2020, this is one of the best community colleges you'll find. If they'd switch to renewable energy like Ohlone College in Fremont, CA (another hidden gem of a community college), I'd rate NMC a *solid* 5 stars, instead of a 4.7 stars that I rounded up to match what's coming in the near future.Connor Louiselle

I have completed four semesters at NMC living off-campus. I knew people who lived in the dorms but I wouldn't recommend them to my friends or family. The dorms closely resemble a prison with white brick walls, shared bathrooms (between 4 students, 2 rooms connected by the bathroom). The prices for these dorms are quite expensive in fall and spring semesters. The teachers for the most part are amazing. They are all (that i learned from) highly intelligent and friendly. Most often they are flexible and considerate. My only problem with some teachers is that in the beginning of the semester at the first class they would often claim "We are trying a new system out, this is the first time and i think it'll work better this way." Now… I don't know what that's supposed to mean but in almost all of these cases it leaves you attending a very unstable class with new and unused materials/processes. These were always extremely weird and complicated situations that made me view the teacher as less professional by the end of the term. They had the knowledge, they just delivered it very clumsily. I maintained above a 3.5 GPA which wasn't too difficult at all. You just had to study and be able to comprehend the class by yourself. You can't really rely on the teacher's new methods or materials because they are pretty much half-baked. My final and most weighted complaint is their prices for tuition/bookstore/cafeteria/dorms. They are literally raping your pockets. As you struggle to even attend school, do NOT plan to buy anything from the cafeteria. Extremely overpriced. The tuition costs are absurd for anyone outside of grand traverse county. I just feel like this school has great teachers whose bosses are after the student loan surge. I love learning but if it comes at these prices, i'ma go at it alone. With free online courses. Who cares that i didn't pay 40k+ for my nice degree. I have certificates that say the exact same thing–for free.Anthony Potrafke

WARNING–DO NOT LIVE ON CAMPUS. No A/C, No refrigerators and if your room is missing something good luck getting a replacement.. You're basically living in a sweat box for months on end. The staff is extremely up tight and obviously have never been anywhere but Traverse City and who hate their lives and have nothing else better to do than to kick people who aren't from the area out. A student was just kicked out of the dorms for a leaky Capri Sun juice pouch that was left unattended in the dorm hallway. Apparently this student will be facing carpet damage repair fees along with not receiving a reimbursement of nights that weren't spent there. Everything you do is on camera, this place is like big brother. You can only enter and exit one way in the dorms so they can watch you every time. Don't plan on driving around the campus at night unless you want to get pulled over by a rent-a-cop and get the 3rd degree on whether or not you live in the facilities no matter how many times you show a room key and ID. After all the harassment from the staff/ security and sleepless sweaty nights spent here I honestly cannot recommend these facilities to anyone looking to get a nice nights sleep, even if you are only staying for a weekend summer course, it's not worth it. Not to mention its $750 per month– this again is no A/C, no fridge, no kitchen, its just your desk, bed and your sweat. For around $600 a month you can live in an apartment, get much better accommodations and have the comforts of sleeping at night with A/C.Daniel Setser

We like the campus and the location. The store is helpful when looking for books and offer rentals and used books to help with cost. We have a lot of trouble with registering classes. They encourage you to do it yourself, but it's very difficult and we've always needed extra help. Then they kept getting my daughter's major wrong. That caused her to take a whole class she didn't need. We asked for a credit toward our next semester for the un-needed class and were only told "everyone makes mistakes" and that they would not credit us for the class. Each department will discuss their business with you only and you have to call one department, handle business with them, and then call the other department. We're told if we have a problem with our FAFSA app., "just ask the financial dept., they'll help you." They never have helped us. They just show us to the laptops in registration and tell us we are "free to use them" to get our business finished. Just be sure to keep an eye on your major, your classes, your credits, etc…. If something's not right, it'll be on you, and you alone.Simply Suzanne

This is an outstanding local community college with a diverse student body with people coming from all over the world. Thousands of interestin and unique stories have been told on that campus, and thousands more have yet to be told. I'm enrolled here and so far I've loved every moment. The staff was always helpful, my professors would always help me when I asked for help, and the campus is beautiful. I will miss my time here, but I will be much better off for my time here. I have had an amazing experience with Herzing University! I am excelling in my degree choice and I couldn't be more satisfied with my learning experience and the flexibility that the online program gives me.The instructors are all willing to help whenever I have a question, and if they see many students struggling with something, they will post an announcement with some helpful tips on how to proceed through our courses. The learning material is easy to understand, the discussion boards really help me connect with my classmates more than I normally would, the library is full of everything you might need for your studies, and the Coach rooms and Tutoring center are very helpful! I have seen many posts off and on about how students struggled in this school. I have to say the most common thing I see students struggling from in these courses is not doing the assigned work on time, not participating in the discussions, and not following the assigned directions on assignments. We have to take responsibility and do our work (on time!) or we will not succeed, and we should not blame someone else for our lack of trying. Just with everything else in life, if you do not put any effort into something, you will not gain anything from it. At that time, school was still establishing itself, therefore, I had some rough time getting through the program, but overall my experience was good. The grounds are always kept up by the amazing grounds team. AQ prides themselves on sustainability and it shows! Let's just do this in bullet points for simplicity. – My best friend was assaulted by his upstairs neighbor in Knol. After they decided not to press charges, Campus Safety told him and his wife to stay away from their own apartment building until the offender had moved out. That's victim blaming. They should have posted a campus safety officer outside the building at all times until the offender left. The victims shouldn't have to leave their own home. – Campus Services is 100% incompetent. Our stovetop fan broke, so they unhooked it, now every time we cook it steams up our whole apartment. My friend's A/C broke last year, so they literally just cut the cord. Two years ago my door frame broke entirely off because the apartment building was in such disrepair, so they just nail gunned it like 30 times. 95% of all the repairs they do are wrong or not done at all. – Chapels are TERRIBLE. I can't tell you how many times I've gone to chapel and not even heard a single verse read. And you can get out of chapels by paying a ten dollar fine per one you miss, so basically they're saying "If you're rich, you don't need to do this mandatory thing". It's like buying indulgences. – They are putting $1.2 million dollar stained glass windows in the new chapel, but the new media facilities we were promised were scrapped almost entirely. This isn't hearsay; they have stated the cost of the new windows repeatedly, including in chapels. As a consolation prize, they gave the audio and video departments a little bit of money to improve the already existing facilities, AKA the recording studio that isn't soundproof and the film department without a proper soundstage. The science department facilities are also deplorable, though I can't speak to specifics as I am not in that department. – The "student contract" is hilariously misguided. Telling students over the age of 21 they can't have a single beer off campus is insane. Do you know how ridiculous it feels to turn down a drink when your PASTOR offers you one? It's not a university's place to punish their students. If the quality of the spiritual content at the university improved, it would naturally attract students with morals the school agrees with. I've given Cornerstone every benefit of the doubt. I was a leader in their "Terra Firma" program, I was an RA, and I've met with the school leaders about the issues I see on several occasions. They consistently have let me down and done inane, nonsensical things to distance me from the school. When people ask where I go to school, I CRINGE when they ask whether they should send their kid there, because I have to be the one to say "No, don't waste your money, if I could do it again I absolutely would not have gone to CU." This is not an indictment of the church. I love the Body of Christ, I love my local church, I love God, and I think Cornerstone is doing a terrible job of representing Christ to the world. Cornerstone gets two stars instead of one because of a handful of the professors. To name a couple, I was educated exceptionally by Randy Miller and Pete Muir of the Media department, and Doug Mohrmann and Andy Smith of the Bible department.Tanner Ward

I've had a great experience at Cornerstone. I believe the professors truly care about our success and they challenge us to think critically about the world we live in. CU does a great job with incoming freshmen and making sure they feel welcome, but there's also campus activities that take place to entertain everyone else. There isn't much of a "party" scene, but I personally like that. We still manage to have a good time on the weekends; we just think of other things to do other than drink away stress. Student Activities hosts events: dances (sometimes downtown, which is really nice), game nights, etc. Dorms also have their own events, like powderpuff, craft nights, Capture the Flag, etc. Also, there's extracurricular clubs and intramurals that keep people busy. Not to mention how there's usually some kind of sporting event that can people can go to. I also really like how we have the option of going to chapel three times a week. There are so many people around the world that would LOVE to have the chapel that CU has and the option of publicly worshipping as a community. They sing songs that are biblically sound (and even popular hymns) and they read scripture occasionally during the worship. The worship teams are ran by students, so it kind of depends on the day. I also have really enjoyed the speakers; we once had a guy come in that works in the prison ministry and his story was really neat. Overall, college is going to be what you make it. If you don't like making new friends and just expect them to fall into your lap, you may struggle. Mostly everyone is friendly and I love the community, but if you isolate yourself from people and only depend on your roommate being your go-to friend and that doesn't happen (luckily my roommates were great my freshmen year)..you really can't blame the school for that. They have great teachers and they try to create a welcoming environment for everyone, no matter what denomination or background you come from. There is less clubs and majors offered (although I think they have a decent variety) than state schools, obviously, but for a private school I think they do their best.Danielle Nelson

Cornerstone has a very good program for adult learners (PGS -Professional and Graduate Studies). Being married with three children, having two jobs, and now being full-time in school, the online accelerated cohort program has been great. It has allowed me to continue to purse my educational goals while not being too overwhelming. Some of the instructors are better than others, but the coursework appears to be set-up similar in all of the courses. This means that all of the courses have a similar feel and there isn't a lot of adjusting from course to course. Grading seems to be mostly left up to the instructors, so that is the only part of the program that takes some adjusting every class. Most classes are five weeks long and incorporate weekly discussion boards, a lot of typed papers, and a group element (normally a project). Each course tries to incorporate a Christian element, normally in the form of discussions, the readings, and in your writing. I also attended GRCC and I have seen some other reviews that said Cornerstone's coursework was easy. Having taken similar classes at both GRCC and Cornerstone (for example, accounting) and I would say the content is similar. For somebody entering into the PGS program like I am, I would suggest being good at writing, because you will be doing a lot of it. I have had a good experience so far at Cornerstone and I recommend it to others on a routine basis.MC

Its the cheapest college in the area and you get what you paid for. The staff in the financial aid, business and student advisory are some of the most incompetent people you will ever meet. Time and time again they ask for documents because they lose them every semester. Several times I had to straighten out financial issues after the geniuses had assured me it wouldn't be an issue, then the idiots deny it. The housing director for the dorms is exceedingly callous and cold, if you have a personal issue with your housing or you want to leave early because a job – she wont care. Prepare to have an apathetic housing staff give you the run around, not mean what they say and then deny it if you bring it up, same with all the staff. If I wasnt borderline homeless I would have never come here. Ask any student the competency level of this barely functioning organization and you'll get the same answers. The teachers are decent, every thing else is a big heap of stinking garbage that can care less about you, and their actions reciprocate that. Enter at own risk.Alec Cope

The school is very clean. Like all schools, this one is a business as well. If your going into the nursing program, just know for an associate this is very accelerated. They cram so many chapters and things you need to know in one semester. I felt the stuff they were teaching us will never be used in the real world. You have to maintain 77% to continue in the program. If you fail two classes within your program you cannot apply to the school for 5 years. If you try to withdraw it has to be above 77%. If you withdraw and under 77% it’s a failure. My stress level was so high for months. The do not want you to pass. It’s either you know the content or don’t. No tutors or ways to make up points to help you pass. They expect you to be a book smart nurse; not a real world nurse. Overall, it was ok.Faith N.

Lake Michigan College trail is a nice trail that can either start behind the athletic field or start behind the back of the Mendel Ctr. It takes you in the pines and oaks along a winding little path with small stream waterways and to a place that takes you away from the hustle and bustle of college life. Enjoy the cleared paths and if you get tired take a break on one of the wooden benches. It's a public trail, free parking, I think it is dog friendly, and nature friendly as we saw and heard many birds. Go out and explore and happy trails.Danielle Buhrfiend

By far the worst instructors, Dean, and curriculum I have ever dealt with. They don’t care about their students just the grant money they get from students. Bought a book for 200 good luck selling it back if you do you’ll get 5 bucks for it. Biggest racket I have ever seen. Instructors don’t even have teaching certification. Their not held accountable. After the death of my grandma, I was told i can’t make up my attendance grade for the classes i missed because she “isn’t immediate family”. They state that they are family and children friendly and that the classes are self paced online, but it is far from true. I don't know if it was a misunderstanding or what but Hope College came out to the Community First Village did a Bible study and was not welcoming to let the homeless residence attend the Bible study I do think that's a little rude in a way what would God think about that number one Jesus Christ was homeless himself he would never like it having a homeless people turn away or judged you think they would be welcoming to allow people to go to Bible study I think that was wrong and when I asked about there school that morning ask about if there was a one line option or if they had a housing option for people who don't live in that state they said no they didn't have anything like that and I look on there website and I saw that they have a housing option for college students we residence was very welcoming to the college students at all of the events that we had out in the community first village we never told them it was just for the residence who live out here in the community but they want to turn us away from a Bible study they where doing in are unity Hall at are villageBridgette Moore

I spent a week visiting my then-girlfriend on campus a few years ago. Even now all these years later I still recall the campus with fondness, Really a beautiful setting, delightful architecture, and plenty of cute shops and cafe's all in biking and walking distance. Really felt safe and comfortable spending time here. The parts I remember most were the friendliness of the students, such as being loaned bicycles to get around campus, and the friendliness of neighborhood residents who were more than happy to take time out of their to give directions or advice on places to go. All in all, the town is wonderful and idyllic, like a neighborhood from a 1950's film. And the campus further strengthens that safety and natural beauty.AJC C

A solid Christian University that offers a variety of educational programs as well one of the finest nursing schools in the world. Because it is a relatively small student population it is perfect match for serious, conservative Christian students. The college offers plenty of wholesome student groups and activites as well as Class Three athletics. The woman's swim team is tremendous. The campus is beautiful and well organized. I plan on transferring here to finish my MBA and so far the institute has been awesome, very helpful and informative. One of a few schools if you meet undergrad GPA requirements (3.4+) for their program you can skip the GMAT and gain entry into their program. Extremely fair cost of attendance @ roughly $570 per credit hour. Look forward to continuing this relationship! Oh and @ Nicole Marriott are you really leaving a poor review because you signed up for college and agreed to pay for it and are being held accountable for your debt? Seriously? If you sign up at any institute, private or public, once you sign the paper you are held accountable for the debt you enter. What is wrong with people these days? The professors are amazing. You really have a feeling that they want you to succeed. Once you graduate they really just drop you. I tried working with career services and they only met once then dropped you. Really disappointed in the behavior of no longer a check coming in we no longer care. I have an amazing work history with several degrees but this new degree is transferring over to something new. So I really wanted help in the job search and advice in moving into something different. I wonder what their actual job placement percentage is. I am just so disappointed because it really could be a great school and the professors really have a passion for teaching.Natalie Roe

I attended night classes to try and finish my degree as an adult. I am told that classes during the day are very different. My experience was incredibly frustrating. The professor of my computer class struggled to log in to her computer and often asked me to help answer questions for the class. I took a speech class and the professor did not grade students on an even scale. The highest grade in the class was the student that wrote her entire speech and then read it without ever looking up. That is only a couple. Almost every in seat class was poorly taught.Shanleyhan

You're going to overpay MASSIVELY for an education CC can give. The only thing I credit this school for is the friends I still have from there. They will compromise on Christian values to be more politically correct. And avoid having firm stances on issues to appease all. Constantly changing what the Bible says and church doctrine for PC culture. For classes, 90% you'll never need or use and the professors use it as their time to spread their extremely radical political beliefs. Adding, 90% of professors are hired based on their work in the field and not for teaching ability. Making you buy their expensive textbook for a class and never using it once. You must have their opinions or risk being failed for no reason. By trying to please everyone they make everyone mad and they wonder why enrollment has gone down drastically. Which is also due to the fact of them taking away classes and value while hiking up tuition rates. Lastly, they say they do everything they can to help their graduates succeed. Laughable. Almost no support at all and don't prepare anyone for the real world. For the support after college. That's just them trying to get you to send them more money after you wasted 100k there. Charged me 50.00 dollars for not obtaining a new parking pass (220.00) in my second year. I was not aware I needed to renew it as they do not send out any correspondence to advise students of this. Being a low income student, I sent a vulnerable genuine appeal to the safety department. They denied my appeal and when I asked to talk with someone in person about my situation they simply forwarded me the handbook over and over… for an institution that preaches grace, and compassion, they certainly don’t practice it when it comes to money. Love my school. Join Gospel choir for the best community and most diverse group on campus! I am a different person because of professor Nate Glasper and every person in this choir. The college is run by bunch of people who care more about how modern the place looks, not how well we learn. Spend too much money on new building and modifying existing buildings, but do not invest in qualified professors. This college treats foreign professors like dirt. I am taking two classes from foreign professors with high credentials and they are knowledgeable and very helpful. But these professors are put into terrible working conditions by over working and under paying. They work pretty much full time, but few minutes from their work schedule is cut to make them part time and save money for the college. In order to cover that time, fresh BS graduates with no teaching experience was hired, of course, without a formal interview. Is it even legal to hire unqualified people, even without an interview? Is this how a publicly funded college function? This place needs to realize that that our learning condition is our professors working condition.L G

Beautiful School, Staff, location and housing. I spent a few days on Camps for a Michigan Region Phi Theta Kappa yearly conference. I was extremely impressed. Everyone was delightful. The common areas throughout were definitely a plus. I highly recommend a tour. Also Handicap Accessibility. Great venue. 5 Stars across the board. Glen Oaks is a great community college! Coming from a small town they have a lot to offer at the lowest prices around. They offer a lot of scholarship opportunities as well! The health professors are simply the best. They help you in every way they can to help you understand the concept. I definitely recommend Glen Oaks to everyone.Delainy

My husband was on the nursing wait list for ten years. He is a veteran and a hard worker. He was told the RN wait list was 2-3 years by Sue Helmer. The professors goals are to make students repeat classes for monetary gain. This is what happened to my husband and several of his classmates. Failure is encouraged at this school. Students teach themshelves. My husband have retaken most of his classes because some of his teachers could not find proof of his final grades. Also the office lost his important paper work. He was marked down for failing the classes, and had to retake them over. Cora Beute, and Michelle Richter refused to look into their system, and marked him absent for classes when he was present. The financial aid department charged him twice for many of his classes.The administration took advantage of him having auto pay for classes. He was overcharged several of times. One thing after the next. My husband is now attending Grand Valley University. He had to retake more than seven classes over because some of GRCC classes are not transferable. A bunch of time wasted. My husband regret going to GRCC. I will recommend anyone to run from this scum of a place.护士Diane

Admission staff isn't very helpful. I'm being told on the FAFSA and by others if you live alone you do not have to fill out the parent information field just to call up here and have them tell me that's not the case. I'm in my twenties with my own place. Not seventeen just getting out of HS. I graduated five years ago so why do I need parent info? This is the latest addition though to a list of complaints. Just finally annoyed enough to leave a review. I've been considering for the last few years going to school and I have not committed yet due to personal circumstances. But every time I do seriously set my sights on it I find myself frustrated with the people I end up speaking with. Only giving two stars because I'm hopeful that my experience with the education side of things will be a lot better than all the tedious steps you have to do just get in and get assistance.A. My short experience has been good here. Although parking can be a mess, and often times people's card will not allow them to leave (it lets them in though) and the person on the telecom won't let them out, they want them to back up (when there's 20 cars bumper to bumper in line waiting to leave) and come inside. Or they can pay 4x the regular amount via credit card and then they'll be able to leave right then and there. Unnecessary hassle, a joke considering they're getting thousands of dollars every DAY simply from parking fees alone. Should attend common sensical decency meeting once a year.Patrcia Clemons

When I was looking into going to Ross I was a little apprehensive because I wasn't sure if this program was really any good. From the minute I walked in the door all my apprehension was gone!! The admissions staff made me feel right at home and walked me through the process step by step and answered all my questions. The financial aid staff was wonderful and answered all my questions about my financial aid and got it processed quickly. The school director was absolutely the best!! She takes time to actually sit you down and find out how you are doing in your courses and she is available to fix any problems you may have. The instructors are very friendly and knowledgeable about the subjects they are teaching you and are also available to answer any questions and offer whatever help you may need. Career services literally will not stop looking for employment for you until you have a job in your field. The best decision I ever made was going to Ross and it has literally changed my life forever!!Carol Riddle

Honestly so disappointed. A complete lack of communication from day one. Today should be my graduation date, and I can't even get an email response about anything. The education I received was so far off track from what I was told I would receive (Billing and Coding) and I think I might be qualified to answer phones and make minimum wage now that I am done. I get plenty of communication about sharing on social media but cannot even get a response about what I am to do next now that my qualifications for completion are met. Not even something stating I am done. I completed my externship then nothing. Like I dropped off their map.Betsie Reed

Updates needed for the sake of the teachers and students as far as efficacy goes. Machinery such as autoclaves and centrifuge could stand to be updated as well. All staff and personnel at Ross is absolutely wonderful and I have and will continue to sing this school's praises. I can't believe how quickly time flies when you're having fun learning and meeting others with the same goals. All teachers were extremely personable and helpful. I will miss my Ross family when I go, but I am so proud of myself and feel so accomplished for exceeding my own expectations here.Renae Cunningham

Nice buildings, TERRIBLE instructors, especially in their medical-focused science programs. Instructors changing assignments, deleting submitted work, and failing entire sections of classes.. Instructors that play the "gotcha" game, attempting to fail and trick you on material and assignments, as opposed to trying to teach. Have professors ripping material directly from other programs and having you do it for assignments (other universities) that still has other universities logos all over it. Also, you're on your own, admin will not respond / is not on your side. I would spend my money and time elsewhere if AT ALL possible. Had an instructor claim they have the "best program in the state" and then fail to respond by email for about 3 months, and had to get Dean involved. Feels like I'm interacting with high school students for professors. I am from out of state and it turns out Iowa has basically no resources regarding escalating issues with professors – what they say goes and that's it, regardless of how inappropriate or unproductive. DO NOT trust your education to this program and these instructors.Rone Parent

Kirkwood is a fantastic school with high level talent. The college seems to view itself as a service to paying customers (a bafflingly rare delight), and offers courses that inspire good work and deep thinking. Kirkwood *far* exceeds any other educational institution I've attended. The admission process is transparent, the courses you're paying for are clearly outlined, the requirements of the course are made plain at the start of the term… man. I can't say enough nice things. And you know what? I never once had anyone correct me to say "Call me 'Doctor' ". That may not mean much to you, but it meant a hell of a lot to me. Do yourself a favor and go here for your first two years with an eye to transfer on, should that be your aim. You're not just getting more for your money. You're flat out getting more.Claiming Light

Least understanding faculty. Called 6 hours after my deadline to cancel a test that I paid $95 dollars to take. The program director for CE was rude and condescending stating that she would not refund my exam because I was simply 6 hours past the 24 hour deadline. This school is clearly just out to rob people of their money and it’s sickening. I’ve had nothing but a bad experience and it’s crazy to me because at one point I was so excited to attend. For the best experience, you must be proactive and you must advocate your goals and you must explore where you want to go. Tuition is reasonable and scholarships can be abundant. The ideal setup, depending on one’s circumstances, is to start here and use Lansing Community College to get to the next destination, whether it is a sought employer or university. I strongly recommend networking and using all available resources to find and develop a constructive resonance with potential instructors. Don’t hesitate to ask questions. There are countless people and support services ready to help people of all backgrounds and needs. Be advised and cautioned that the summer semester can be a bit more challenging due to its condensed schedule and that online classes tend to have some trade-offs that need to be carefully considered. There have been many notable infrastructure investments and student life improvements for activities and events. Of course, parking can be a bit of a trick sometimes, but carpooling or finding alternative nearby locations can reduce expenses. Make sure to apply for FAFSA as soon as possible for prime planning. By going here first and developing a strong core foundation, one can also save a lot of money rather than paying higher prices for comparable education elsewhere. Also, Lansing Community College develops strategic partnerships with many higher learning institutions and even hosts the joint University Center at the downtown location. But don’t forget to have fun and forge memories with your community while you endeavor your STAR journey.Ryan Guiles

I went to the Livingston campus right out of high school. I had great professors and loved my classes for the first few semesters, then everything started to fall apart. The front desk staff was rude, they weren’t consistent with their information and I almost lost my financial aid because they gave me the wrong information. Then a semester or two before I left, I took an online business class that was so all over the place I had to call the professors office and tell her that the due dates were off on the schedule, and then she argued with me without even looking at the schedule. Once she did she realized the dates were wrong and she changed them. But she must have been bothered by my call because I aced every assignment in that class and ended it with a 4.0, but she must’ve docked that after final grades went out because on my transcript I noticed it said that I ended with a 3.5, which I know wasn’t true. Now I have no proof and can’t change it didn’t because I didn’t notice it until after the semester was over. Very aggravating.Kaitlyn

Some of the teachers at Lansing community college are awesome! However, I am not impressed with the community college as a whole. One of the reasons being I feel their classes require you jump through a lot of more hoops that I have encountered while attending any university. For example, they require a lot of placement tests, which I did not encounter while attending Ferris State University. Also the graduation rate is very low!alexis timmons

It's a great challenging course. A long course compared to other courses in the area. Signage needs updates but bring your A game . I enjoyed the challenge and can't imagine how tough this will play in spring and summer. I will definitely make time to play in the summer.
