20 Best 2 Year Nursing Programs In Denton, TX (2022 Updated)

The housing staff is horrible, they have put 2 charges on my account and they admitted to not knowing how they got my name however they refused to take it off even when the camera showed I never stayed, 3 weeks later I spoke to Hr for them to remove it and they did it the same day. The other one was removed 2 weeks later after the payment date. I would also recommend you bring in your own food or check it before leaving the dinning hall. I found so much mold and was served under cooked to many times. The drinks apply as well check the ice whole before u get if there is black stuff around it use the other machines.(not sure if they are gonna clean up before the fall but there is also mold in between the soda machines) Not only the dinning side but be careful with the soda/juice in the deli side the they both are spoiled. And check the expiration date of each snack you do choose to take I had 3 month old jello and I still can’t get that’s fussy taste out my mouth. Either side will not hesitate to sell old milk or old food and bunch it all up to be given out on the weekends. There is a wëëd problem at this school as well so be careful because if anyone in your dorm doesn’t it you maybe be accused of doing it as well by the campus police. Not on to the professors, you need to hold some of their hand and walk them three days the grading process. I had 3 professors(1 was in person and the other 2 was online) last semester wait til the end of the semester to grade everyone from my midterms to out introductions at the beginning. For online teachers make sure you double check their comments after they grade and read up on stuff ahead of time so u can message them early because they don’t respond to message in a timely manner. Navarro College was STELLAR! As a former Bulldog, I'm proud to have called this school my home. Professors are knowledgeable and interesting individuals, the staff are all charming and helpful, and the atmosphere of the entire facility is one of safety and growth. Plus, Dr. Fagan (the man in charge of it all) is incredibly personable and makes a point of greeting and interacting with students every chance he gets! The staff at the Corsicana campus are very rude. Upon inquiring about something the registrar didn’t know about; she went on to yell at me over the counter while the lobby was full of other students. There are only a handful of instructors that are dedicated and willing to see their students succeed. After all we pay to go there and I believe that the students need to treated with a bit of respect. The Cashiers are generally nice and will help you out.Nethmal Perera

Great place to learn, with a safe environment. The grounds are well taken care of, and the staff is very friendly, as well as patient when teaching. Very well at allowing students to understand what is being taught, and provide all the basics when it comes to starting your college credits. The entering staff are knowledgeable in helping you find assistance in areas you aren't familiar with such as tuition, loans and grants. The book store has all the stuff you need to succeed. They have several cafes on campus. The student center is the campus hang out. They have pool tables ping pong and a wide variety of other clubs and activities to get involved in. The mini processing plant on site is a great hands on learning tool they have RIGHT THERE on campus. All of the professors are very knowledgeable and understanding. If you want to learn and earn college credits this is the place. They have an adult learning center for people to get their GED. They're performing arts center for people that like to perform or do arts. Like drawing and painting. Have a nursing program that is top notch. All your basic studies are covered by experience and helpful staff. They have all sorts of activities, and clubs. This cosmetology where they offer haircuts and manicures. They offer instrumentation as well as process technology. They have a judicial class for those that would like to learn about the criminal justice system. They do scrolling all year round even on weekends If you have a 9 to 5 job and can't make it to regular classes. There's athletic program basketball and volleyball, they have a swimming pool weight room and banquet halls for rent. They have several lecture halls on campus as well as outdoor picnic area or study areas. There are some campuses one in Baytown, McNair, and Liberty. So their service area can be reached. They also have helpful Access student resources answer questions about programs and are always willing to go that extra mile and help make student success their number one goal. They have campus security to keep you safe and well-lit areas for evening classes. They offer welding and logistics, also support a wide variety of students from all over the world. I must say, the teachers are helpful and the classes are small-yes- but the support staff for the college itself (business office, counselors office, financial aid, ect) are the absolute RUDEST people I have ever met! I work full time, so I try to do most of my business with them via Email, Telephone, or Fax. When you email any of the support departments, they NEVER reply back, once you call them and mention "I emailed y'all a week ago but I never got a response back…here is my question" they just give you the run around, transfering you to 3+ people just to get a vague answer. Just today, I got cut off by the business office when I simply asked if I could pay for tuition over the phone. The "counselors" in the counselors office don't even remotely help you with your degree planning, each one of them will tell you something different so you are basically left to figure it out yourself and hope you get it right. I have talked to all different kinds of directors/administrators about these issues and they NEVER seem to be resolved. Point to my review is this is a good college just to get a degree behind your name, but be prepared to hit a ton of roadblocks/red tape along the way.Kayla W

Love the school, very understanding teachers & other faculty! I graduated from here my first semester of my senior year in high school before deciding to attend UT! Everything was okay all the way up until the 2020 graduation parade. When announcing my name, the announcer made a very uncomfortable mark about my dads corvette mentioning “Nice car where’d you rent that for the weekend?” I didn’t really notice until my sister played her video back after the parade. The car wasn’t rented, that’s HIS CAR FULLY PAID FOR! since I started school in dallas colleges(2019) this summer 2022 is the worse for me. My professor O'Brien is never available, no help from him, and has denied access to all the features that other professors give access to students in order to help us. I went to the campus to talk to an advisor after sending him more than 5 emails, even at the campus No one knew his whereabouts and he finally responded after 2 weeks since i told him I think I'll drop that class he didn't even bother to try and assist me instead he said yes you can drop it and you'll for sure find the same class with another instructor good luck. Im only a freshmen at Mountainview community college but I already have a great opinion on the institution. I love the greenery surrounding the buildings because they make me feel tranquilized, I love the inclusivity this college gives and the diversity here. The professors that I have so far have been amazing and makes my classes worth looking forward to. I visited the school store in the S building just last week and I really love everything the store has to offer such as snacks, school supplies, feminine products, hygiene products, cosmetics, and basic necessities! The subway in the dining hall has welcoming employees with great customer service. The success coaches in the S building are also very helpful with planning for classes and addressing any concerns you may have. I love this college!Brianna

This heartfelt review is difficult for me because I actually attended Alvin junior high and Alvin high school off and on throughout my 12 years. I love this town. I was happy to attend this college for that precise reason. However, there were many many obstacles I went through to get my degree here. Frequently, I had to wait my opportunity cost between a poorly taught class, and a class dedicated towards my profession. This should not be happening. Two things caused this. Professors who do not calculate the time required to perform homework and assignments out of class Is one. The second cause were professors who should not be teaching at all. They are either rude, careless Or have some type of issue within their person. Every semester I had a professor like this even after referencing rate my professor. Eventually because of this college hiring so many professors with personal issues it eventually cost me my accumulative science and math GPA to fall under. Consequently, I would not qualify to enter into university science or math department. Every semester on student loans, I worked 10 hours a day for seven days a week for two years. There should have been no reason why my grades were affected. However, how a professor teaches is one of those things that an individual has absolutely no control over. Because of the poor department management and analysis of teaching from professors by administrative, I will no longer be able to pursue the group degree I intended on pursuing. As a compromise, I had to apply for graduation for a general studies associates to leave this college peacefully, and it not destroy my loan approval or potential to graduate in four years. Best degree plans for this college are governments, English, etc. Stay at another community college for science and math because these departments are seriously on organized and not monitored.Shauna Herrera

Keep Alvin Beautiful greeted at the Alvin City Fall cleanup. Texas Pride and others showed up 2 collect all kinds of trash and recycle. Really impressed with everybody that I got to work with as they had a great attitude and even though most were new to the event they jumped in and made things work well. Really proud of everybody who participated and made this a great event and keeping our city sparkling Update: the EMS and police cadet departments pulled together to do a huge exercise for the training of their students. Using the building abandoned building across the street they staged a mass shooter that the police cadets had to take out and then they pulled in the EMS students to help pick up and treat all the wounded. Was a terrific activity and professionally done. Very fun to participate in as a victim. Update: we had the spring Alvin clean up and had the best participation ever. 151 people brought all kinds of trash, metal recycle, electronics, batteries, paper shredding, and green waste to be recycled. Great place to take classes. My son takes classes here in the summer to transfer to his 4 year university. He has enjoyed all of his professors. I like the school because they have a great enrollment process. They've got a waiting area and they call you up by name and clearly post your name on monitors. I only give 4 stars because of their police department. If you pull through a parking space-ticket. They watch every vehicle and the slightest parking lot infraction can bring a quick ticket. They're using it as a money generator. You've got to read their police handout. A lot of rules are in place that aren't posted and a visitor can quickly find themselves ticketed. We've switched to College of the Mainland and we've been happier.David Carlisle

Just attended a concert in the music hall at the Stillwell humanities building on the Texarkana College campus. The concert was given by a soprano named Shaina Martinez and a pianist named Mary Scott Smith. The style was classical, operatic, and the show included songs by Puccini, Debussy, Andre Previn, Ricky Ian Gordon, and others. The performance was outstanding, and the concert lasted about an hour. There was a printed program provided by the college, and it listed every song and composer, except the encore. There were about 75-80 people attending the concert, and about 30 of those were college students.scott campisi

The person working the front desk of the financial aid office is extremely rude and condescending. She also made it very well known how she felt about the military and GI Bill students. If you have the misfortune of having to endure that lady (you will know her when you see her. It's been a pretty good experience so far. They seem to have a lot of compassion for their students. Especially those who have learning disabilities like me (ADHD). They do a great deal for you. I'll preface this with that the only reason this school is getting 2 stars is because staff has actually been helpful when I have reached out to try and fix things. But when I tell you EVERY step of this process has been an absolute nightmare I am not exaggerating. I am a TWU graduate and needed a quick summer class to take because i got a conditional acceptance to a graduate school. This is time sensitive. So, long story short every single step had some issue that took multiple phone calls and people to fix. The biggest issue was me paying for an official transcript, seeing that on the tracking information brookhaven had received the transcript, and days later having the transcript STILL not put into the system which kept me from registering for the class that my entire future quite literally depended on me taking. Because of the bad timing of spring break I had to register late and it took an hour in person of me and the wonderful admissions worker figuring it out because no one we needed to contact was actually on campus. Although she was incredibly helpful, it was obvious the entire set up was frustrating for her too. The website is outdated and confusing and I get endless errors- i couldn't even pay without there being an error. Christi Carter is an awful person who sees students making mistakes during class and says NOTHING, then cheats during the "random body part selection process for competicy testing" and gives you the one body part she saw you making a mistake on but said nothing during class so she can kick you out of the program. Absolute zero compassion for students and their education. Luckily I've graduated Radiology at a different college dispite her being an absolute awful teacher. How someone can be so curropt and unfair became director of the program is beyond me.__

I was at this campus just to get my Student ID this week. Everyone I encountered was kind and helpful from the security desk attendant to the staff in Student Services. When I was looking at one of the outside campus maps to find my way a staff member came up and assisted me with the directions to where I needed to go. Reading the other reviews here, I see others have had problems with admissions and financial aid – I think all universities have lots of complicated paperwork in regards to those areas, so patience is necessary.Curtis Johnson

I love the professors. Temple College is lucky to have professors that have doctorate degrees to teach. As a students, we are lucky to pay a junior college price for access to PhD 's. Those are the professors I choose from when given the opportunity in my degree plan. The business management of the junior college could use some training in customer service and fully understand the job they do. I have learned to always have my military files with me since the files have a tendency to be lost every other semester. I never knew that I earned the President's List or the Vice President's List awards until they announced it at my graduation. Student life is hampered by lack of support from staff and lack of student interest. I hope that this college will continue to grow, take on a supportive/student oriented attitude, and attract the quality professors and staff the college needs to grow. I loved this college. I met a lot of really great people while here, but more importantly I felt the teachers were fair and prepared me to go to University. Also if you are not part of TRIO you should go there. I spent a lot of time there and met really good people like Debbi Owens, Tina Marsh and Cecilia. I would do my homework there and receive help and tutoring. It is a wonderful thing for the College to allow students to access programs like these and I am hoping that more people can create programs like these. I was in their nursing program and I passed all the exams with mid Bs. My clinical instructor made up many violations and forced me to accept them. She further used those violations to give me very low grade (25 out of 91) on my midterm evaluation despite the fact that I was never late for clinical and I handed in all my paperwork on time. It is obviously discrimination. I had to withdraw from the course because you can not fight discrimination with hard-work. I will give it a minus star if I can.Chun-Wei Lin

Update: Post Graduation Changed rating from 5 to a 3. Research professor reviews before taking any classes. I had always done this religiously except for my last class. Huge, huge mistake. Two of 14 classmates dropped the class and several others complained to no avail. She was rated 1 out of 5 on Rate my Professor and that was generous. Reviews seemed consistent as her being labeled as awful. I would describe her as a nutjob. Unfortunately being tenured, her unprofessional conduct goes unchecked and Lonestar absolutely did nothing about the massive complaints. Best solution is to get the word out so no one takes her classes. Again, read reviews. I have found them reliable and they will save you from having a bad professor or having a nightmare like this one. I was planning on continuing my education at Lonestar but the experience I had with this one professor and the lack of action by the college has made me reconsider my plans. Until this class, I was a straight A student and I am absolutely convinced that this professor is triggered by students that do not profess the same ideology she espoused. Call it what it is. Discrimination and bigotry. Beautiful, well maintained campus. Started at 15 as a homeschool dual credit student. Exemplary service from advisors to finance. Had zero problems. Professors were engaging and subject matter experts as good or better than those at top tier universities. Class size is small so you get one on one attention. This place doesn’t answer the phone, and when they do they don’t give you helpful information. Incoming freshman who don’t understand or need some help understanding how everything works, don’t attend here. They are no help and randomly drop you out of classes. When you call nobody answers and they don’t get back to you even when you mark it as urgent. Continuing on my review of this horrible college.. first few weeks of school and they don’t have working wifi or enough books for all of the students. Need to log into D2L while using campus wifi? Forget about it. Need a book for class during these first few weeks? Too bad. They don’t have any, and you will just have to wait until next week. I mean seriously? My son had difficulties in establishing his Texas residency status. We had made three trips to the admissions office but never resolved it. Apparently the fact that my son is a US citizen was overlooked. Thankfully after meeting Ms Flores we were able to resolve the issue in under 30 minutes. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I had a meeting and asked for help and she said she couldn't help me for some reason…I ended up texting & emailing people for help but they eighter didn't reply or said they were going to help me but then ended up not communicating back. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. I’m in the Concorde Career Program, my admissions coordinator Mr. Greg Stewart was always on top of things, easy to get ahold of and always professional. He made the admissions process such a breeze to gather through. The program is definitely challenging but so worth it. I'm currently having one of the worst experiences ever! I was completely unaware of being enrolled in online classes once the pandemic started. I never spoke with anyone or confirmed this was ok. I specifically chose on campus classes due my struggle with specific subjects. I was unaware until an instructor contacted me. I emailed advising and was removed from the class I was still charged and a hold was put on my account. I have never talked to or discussed classes with anyone for the fall and i am also scheduled and charged for those classes as well. Now i'm told i have to file an appeal to try to have the balance and the hold removed and i cant remove the fall classes until the balance is cleared. Every time I speak with anyone i'm forwarded to someone or a dept. that cant help or explain!Christi Chavis

While I'd love to give a better review, I have to be honest. If you are utilizing veteran services, prepare for a ridiculous amount of wait time. There's never anyone online via chat and when you call if someone answers, it becomes a series of transference to different people or "I'll have someone contact you." This poses an issue as a current student attempting to be successful in class. I am finding it impossible to get a return address for a delivery I received containing 2 bottles of your CBD oil and 2 packets of the CBD gummy bears which was delivered to me by Hermes. I initially wanted to cancel the order but was informed that I could not. I did not realise the total price of these items and then my shock at finding out I was calling USA as I am in Scotland UK. Don't EVER go to get your teeth worked on by the dental students. They butchered my husband's mouth. No antibiotics…nothing for pain! He had two teeth pulled and they cut him open and the stitches were not done correctly at all. The Dr. said to the students…it looks ok. And left. My husband a few days later had to go to the ER because he was getting pain going into his head and chest. He couldn't even swallow! Over $800.00 dollars for ER visit and we had to pay for THREE prescriptions! NEVER GO THERE! THEY DON'T CARE!Susan Winchester

My 94 year old Mother has been with Living Well for a year and a half. We could not be more pleased with the level of care that she is receiving. Ms. Denona is an amazing instructor who takes the time to teach every concept and skill thoroughly and effectively. Everything in this course is meticulously organized and carefully explained. Brittany is amazing and so helpful and Christy another nurse instructor is also extremely knowledgeable and supportive. Update Integrity Health and Education is a place I would recommend anyone to take your CNA course. I took the course with Ms Lee 3 months before taking my State Exam with minimum studying the week of my test and no hands on training since. I just PASS Both first try . My wife & I are extremely independent people so realizing and admitting that we needed help with just day to day things around the house was just a terrible moment for us. I'm wheelchair bound with degenerative arthritis and Parkinson's disease doesn't help matters. My wife has bone-spurs in her feet and recurring cellulitis making it very painful to walk around. Despite our physical issues, on good days I can go out chop wood for our fireplace and do quite a bit, but those good days are getting farther and farther apart. When I emailed BrightStar Care I was just wanting someone to help out around the house. Sherry (RN) came out and went through a questionnaire and I told her everything. She was very understanding and compassionate and that made things much easier. I did get to meet the owner briefly and he is a soft-spoken guy that just exudes caring. Between him and Sherry they sent out this wonderful and enthusiastic young lady that just takes care of SO much, even things I would never ask people to do, like installing a new toilet paper roll holder in the bathroom. She has a great sense of humor and a strong professionalism that is hard to beat. I can't express how happy my wife & I are with everyone at BrightStar Care and how they turned a very embarrassing situation for us into a very appreciative and personable experience. My experience with BrightStar has been wonderful. The owner has always been very attentive and helpful in scheduling caregiving and following my urgent requests in a timely manner. The staff and nurses have also been kind and helpful. In particular, the Director of Nursing, Shari, has always been responsive, attentive, kind, and helpful in meeting my dad''s needs (and providing useful recommendations). I love the whole person treatment approach, understanding, and prompt communication of the staff. My dad's caregiver, Domingo, has done an amazing job taking care of my dad and is a true professional who strives for excellence! He has been a blessing to my dad and I. He is friendly, kind, compassionate, considerate, flexible, and extremely thorough in the details of my dad's care (which is very important to me and he is someome I trust with my dad..which is so hard to find). He consistently goes beyond and above his duties/expectations to provide great care! Domingo has a great sense of humor, has great rapport with his clients, is well-liked, and builds a genuine relationship with them. My dad trusts him and enjoys spending time with him (i.e., besides the daily routine he makes sure my dad exercises, laughs, plays pool/chess/cards with him etc.). I would like to share with you the two things that matter the most to me when I think of this agency; My experience with BrightStar Care Denton agency and staff and also how this agency has benefitted my family. I knew about BrightStar because I hired them in Houston to assist with care of my parents in 2013 through 2016. I typically don't write reviews; however, I believe this CNA school deserves a top-tier review! I had been looking to obtain my CNA certification ever since I was a sophomore in high school. So from there, I would search for CNA schools, and I could not find any decent or affordable programs nearby. Luckily, when I searched again, I happened to find JMTC! The website was up to date and appealing to look at compared to other schools I have seen! Tuition was affordable, and the application process was simple! I am a graduate of JMTC; I commenced in July, graduated in August, and became certified in November. SO if you're looking for a CNA school in Frisco, I would highly suggest you look into JMTC! It's a great school! The instructor, Deadra Thomas, is a very inspirational and fantastic entrepreneur, nurse, and leader! She is professional, knowledgeable, and passionate about what she does! There are several CNA schools out there that I could have chosen. However, the moment I met the director, Mrs. Thomas, I knew I had made the right choice of where to enroll for training as a CNA. Mrs. Thomas is dedicated to the success of her students and goes into detail and adds a personal perspective from her own experience as well. You can rest assured of your abilities when you complete the course because of its thoroughness. And, Mrs. Thomas maintains flexibility when it comes time to test your skills by allowing you to schedule the training lab for you to practice what you've learned. I did the best decision going to Journey medical training center. Ms. Deadra, she will give you thousand percent(not even hundred) for your class. I guess, I was one of the busiest student, working 7days a week, 2 different job & mother of 5years old but she managed her time to work with me. If I can do it, you can definitely do it. At the training Journey, I lost my dad including other two members of my family(overseas), Ms.Deadra was there for me. If you like the person who encourages & guides you, trust me You are in the right institutes. After family, she is the one who genuinely gets happy when you succeed. I don't typically write negative reviews; however, I would warn anyone considering moving their family member into this complex. While the apartment itself was okay, maintenance was unacceptable. My mother's air conditioning went out 3 times in 1 year, her dishwasher needed repairs 4 times, her kitchen sink facet never worked correctly, and her front door lock and screen broke immediately after moving in. (The comments from other posters about the front gate being broken and air conditioning not working are also true.) We submitted ADA documentation (signed by her dr) to terminate her lease in 60 days because my mother could no longer live alone after a traumatic fall in the bathroom, which does not have a walk-in shower. They lost (and then found) the paperwork after we turned it in 3 times, telling her at different times that she would have to pay for 60 days, 90 days, and then until they relet her apartment. They have continued to charge us (now saying that she'll have to pay for another 30 days or until they relet her apartment). I would not recommend this place to anyone who has a disabled, elderly family member.Rochelle Gregory

We have really enjoyed the Attiva apartments, staff and community. The apartment is very nice and the service staff is very responsive when there is something that needs to be fixed. I appreciate that Carlos goes out of his way to fix things quickly and if something needs to be ordered always gives an estimated time so we know what to expect. It's a quite community. There are lots of activities available if you are feeling social. And the common areas (exercise room, movie theater, community room, pool and outside area) are always very well maintained. We also appreciate the office staff, especially Brittney who always greets us with a friendly smile and is very helpful. She took her time with us when we were moving in as well as when we transferred apartments and made the transition less stressful. I would highly recommend this community.Caryl Carlisle

My husband and I moved to Attiva Denton last Fall and have now renewed our lease for another term. The office and maintenance staff are all wonderful. We love the size of our 1 bedroom apartment, the ample storage, and the beauty of the kitchen/bath. We have met lots of people who are all very friendly. The community activities at the Bistro are well attended and that is how we have come to know some very wonderful new friends. Walking thru the community even in the wee hours of the morning or night, I always feel safe and at peace. We are encouraged to decorate our patio area to our liking.
