I know y'all are hanging in there from the pandemic I will be going to school on June 1st I have not been in school for 6 years because of problems in my family's life I'm still trying to figure life out I'm just now starting to take care of my mom I am living with her now which is a big step. I either need a scholarship for a college essay or need a grant but they said I don't make enough money. I worked for four years by the way. I passed the essay TSI, I also wrote an essay for the Susanne scholarship and just maybe need to get a recommendation from a high school teacher. love all of you thank you so much for getting me started.Trae Webb

since I started school in dallas colleges(2019) this summer 2022 is the worse for me. My professor O'Brien is never available, no help from him, and has denied access to all the features that other professors give access to students in order to help us. I went to the campus to talk to an advisor after sending him more than 5 emails, even at the campus No one knew his whereabouts and he finally responded after 2 weeks since i told him I think I'll drop that class he didn't even bother to try and assist me instead he said yes you can drop it and you'll for sure find the same class with another instructor good luck. First time to have such a 👎 instructor at dallas colleges I so much regret wasting this semester in this class. I even submitted a complaint but no once has reached me to even ask anything.Therese Ambani

Im only a freshmen at Mountainview community college but I already have a great opinion on the institution. I love the greenery surrounding the buildings because they make me feel tranquilized, I love the inclusivity this college gives and the diversity here. The professors that I have so far have been amazing and makes my classes worth looking forward to. I visited the school store in the S building just last week and I really love everything the store has to offer such as snacks, school supplies, feminine products, hygiene products, cosmetics, and basic necessities! The subway in the dining hall has welcoming employees with great customer service. The success coaches in the S building are also very helpful with planning for classes and addressing any concerns you may have. I love this college!Brianna

Would not recommend. I can't speak to the instructors since I never made it that far, but the staff needs a refresher course on office management. I work in an admin office and if I ignored customers as I was ignored by this college I would have been fired a long time ago. I had my former colleges send my official transcripts in April which both confirmed that they had. I asked in June and in July where we were in the processes. The only answer I received was that "we can't find them" and asked if they were submitted under another name. I had told them multiple times that they were submitted under my maiden name as I was not married when I received other degrees. No response. So I had them resent. There was no response. So after 24 hours I emailed both the registrar's office AND the email designed specifically for transcripts and did not hear back again. When I went up and emailed everyone in the admissions office suddenly they found my transcripts and my transcript hold disappeared like that. And then afterward, suddenly I received a response to one of my emails and the person I was speaking to was quite snippy with me saying that she "got to it when she could" although I had been inquiring for 2 MONTHS about the status of my transcripts. Fortunately this was going to be my first semester and I have enough time that I found another distance education vet tech degree from another college. I won't be registering for classes with Cedar Valley after this whole thing honestly its NOT worth it. Also, there is NO requirement to meet with an advisor and no one point of contact for Distance Education students. Their instructions for registering for classes are confusing and even inquiry emails were met with silence. Also it feels the admissions office was supplying contrary information on how to enroll in vet tech classes in the first place! If you're looking for a distance education vet tech program I HIGHLY RECOMMEND you going elsewhere. You'll just get frustrated here. I would give 0 stars if possibleAmy Shumway

I'm going to be fair and admit that the teachers I've had have been the most helpful, inspiring, and kind people I've ever met. Unfortunately I can't say the same for most of the staff up front. Most of the staff are rude and unhelpful, constantly running you in circles like they have no idea how anything works. The advising staff are very unhelpful as well. Patty Soper-Shaw placed me in two wrong classes my first semester, and admitted to me she had no idea about any of the technology courses I was trying to take. Because of that, I'm now left without the hardware course I needed to take before the software one which leads me to this biggest problem I have with this college. DO NOT TAKE TECHNOLOGY CLASSES HERE! It's a dead end. A majority of classes never have enough students to make the class work, so they're constantly being dropped. The dean of the technology department, Mr. Johnson, came to our class at the beginning of the Fall 2017 Semester to tell us our class is cancelled. He even admitted that the technology classes there are failing tor receive enough students for the classes, and apparently it's been that way for the past 10 years! It's to the point where my degree is absolutely useless, and because of the constant cancellations and mess ups between staff and advisers, my life is now behind because I can't even get a simple certification or degree. I've been at this school for three semesters, and after my class getting cancelled again, I've decided to finish up this last semester and move onto another college. This school is the most unorganized, uninformative, and misleading place I've ever been to. I'm not the only student this has happened to either. I've spoken with many at that school who have suffered from the same problems I spoke about. This school has been a nightmare to go to and get anything done at. Awful experience. The advising staff were rude and unhelpful. Registration staff were extremely unhelpful and contradictory. After being led in pointless circles and constantly receiving contradictory information about required forms and materials, I was finally able to meet someone who understood what was going on (after talking with at least 4 different registration staff members). By the time everything was sorted out, the classes were filled up. The advising staff members are not accommodating, interrupting, and very accusatory. It should not be on the customers shoulders to filter through constant contradictions just to apply to the school. I did follow and submit the required material stated online. Apparently, the material submitted was no acceptable and I had to jump through many hoops and complete many tedious tasks just to be told it was all pointless and I didn't even have to do any of the "required" forms or tasks. Honestly, I just felt like I was wasting my time doing pointless tasks when most, if not all, of it could have been avoided. By the time all my information was processed, I had finished applying/enrolling, getting advised, registering for classes, and paying for the classes at a different community college. This was the most unorganized, confusing, drawn-out process I've ever had to go through for any college admission. Wasted so much time throughout this process. Oh, did I mention that no one knows how to pick up the phone? Called at many different points in time throughout the day just to be sent to voicemail… This happened for an entire week. Leave a voicemail and hope they get back to you promptly.Water Fountain

Lisa the advisor in Eastfield college was horrible. Everyone was nice and welcoming except for her. She wanted me quick out of her office as soon as possible. I'll preface this with that the only reason this school is getting 2 stars is because staff has actually been helpful when I have reached out to try and fix things. But when I tell you EVERY step of this process has been an absolute nightmare I am not exaggerating. I am a TWU graduate and needed a quick summer class to take because i got a conditional acceptance to a graduate school. This is time sensitive. So, long story short every single step had some issue that took multiple phone calls and people to fix. The biggest issue was me paying for an official transcript, seeing that on the tracking information brookhaven had received the transcript, and days later having the transcript STILL not put into the system which kept me from registering for the class that my entire future quite literally depended on me taking. Because of the bad timing of spring break I had to register late and it took an hour in person of me and the wonderful admissions worker figuring it out because no one we needed to contact was actually on campus. Although she was incredibly helpful, it was obvious the entire set up was frustrating for her too. The website is outdated and confusing and I get endless errors- i couldn't even pay without there being an error. Christi Carter is an awful person who sees students making mistakes during class and says NOTHING, then cheats during the "random body part selection process for competicy testing" and gives you the one body part she saw you making a mistake on but said nothing during class so she can kick you out of the program. Absolute zero compassion for students and their education. Luckily I've graduated Radiology at a different college dispite her being an absolute awful teacher. How someone can be so curropt and unfair became director of the program is beyond me.__

I was at this campus just to get my Student ID this week. Everyone I encountered was kind and helpful from the security desk attendant to the staff in Student Services. When I was looking at one of the outside campus maps to find my way a staff member came up and assisted me with the directions to where I needed to go. Reading the other reviews here, I see others have had problems with admissions and financial aid – I think all universities have lots of complicated paperwork in regards to those areas, so patience is necessary.Curtis Johnson

Richland College offers a High School Collegiate program that is now at its 10th year. My son was recently accepted and I went there to meet with the counselor and I was quite impressed with the cleanliness of the campus as well as its size. I did not realize how large the campus is and yet I pass it daily enroute to work. My meeting with the counselor was very informative as the counselor was thorough and very detailed with all the information we needed to know. It put me at ease. Then as we walked around, we walked under trees which provided lots of shade. The only thing I noticed though is at the parking lot we were at, there was very little shade. Something to keep in mind for the hot summers. The campus is very easy to access from the Eastbound lane of Walnut or the Northbound lane of Abrams. I've never really been to a JuCo but after seeing Richland's campus and meeting with some of the staff, my perspective has changed on how I see JuCos.Joey Pauga

I just wanted to go somewhere and take classes to pursue my dreams in comics and animation. The registration process at this school is an absolute nightmare. I got all my paperwork in and was all ready to pick my classes. Then I’m getting told I’m on probation when I’ve never been a college student before. I’m also getting told from a different admissions worker that my transcripts are lost and I have to resubmit them. I’ve been trying to get enrolled before the Dallas Promise deadline for weeks and it doesn’t look like it’s going to happen. The admissions office doesn’t respond to emails and calling them still has got me no answers. It’s becoming not worth it at this point.Mr B

I'm trying to back on track and attend college, but this school is extremely aggravating. It took them MONTHS to transfer my credits over, so I can register for my classes. I applied for financial aid, went to the school, and everything was great. But as my courses were ready to start, my classes weren't covered. Come to find out, my financial aid was approved for the previous 2 semesters. I registered for summer courses and everything, so how did this happen. This school is literally the worst, they take all day in the advising office and registration office. They will have one or two people helping more than 20 people and you would think that would make them have a sense of urgency but they do not. They all act as if they don’t feel like helping you and move so damn slow. I received 2 parking tickets during the time I have attended this school because two hours in a meter is not even enough. The best advisor is Shannon, the rest of them act like they don’t care and will not give you any guidance when your new to college, some will over talk you and not even pay attention or listen to what you are saying to them. This school will literally make you not want to attend college at all with how difficult they make the process. I had a meeting and asked for help and she said she couldn't help me for some reason…I ended up texting & emailing people for help but they eighter didn't reply or said they were going to help me but then ended up not communicating back. I managed to call tec support and they said website was down. Few days later they called me & said they were going to put me on a list and since then I haven't heard anything. I feel like putting a bad review I’m currently trying to see a councilor here at El Centro I came Thursday before 5pm and they told me it was closed but on the website they close at 5pm. Come to find out today a staff member told me they closed an hour early because they were having a spring break party. Hello, my name is Tammie Tarpley Harris. I graduated in March of 2022 with my first degree in the HMAS program at 54 years old! CHCP has made this life changing dream come true for me. The cost and short time to complete the program really helped me to decide that this was the right step and time for me to do something for myself. The admission staff was really professional and efficient with every step of enrollment as well. I remember being so nervous that I would fail on my first day but Mrs Anderson, my first instructor really assured me that I would be just fine! All of the instructors are really hands on, even online! They are concerned for your future and making sure that you have the support and tools to get you there! I have enjoyed learning in a fast-paced setting throughout the past few months that I have been enrolled in the program to become a medical assistant. For the past week, Ms. Marshall, my previous teacher, has been very supportive and understanding of both my learning and myself. I'm currently enrolled in Ms. Morehead's class, and on my first day, I have injected Ms. Morehead with saline as a form of vaccine. After spending 2 years at this school only to be kicked just before starting nursing core program due to misleading information from the staff and nursing director. I have spent an ample amount of money and time trying to meet all requirements that they specifically asked me to do, just to only still be denied is frustrating and discouraging. I spent almost $500 within 4 days getting all requirements met for core. I explained my situation from the very beginning with this school and again did everything I needed to do. I was mislead by Director Mundine and advised I would be refunded for the additional background checks Mundine asked me to do. Myself along with several others were kicked out of this program right before entering nursing core classes, and some of them received calls back later asking them to come back because of a error on their part of whatever bs they came up with. Do your research before enrolling in this school, because it has been nothing but a headache for myself. Along with this school is not regionally accredited so the courses do not transfer to many other schools! PROCEED WITH CAUTION! As well as they are racist against african american students, and these classes do not transfer to any other school so be cautious and save yourself the headache.kiara palmer

This school is discriminatory against black students!!! Do not come to this school. The black student is always wrong and faces the consequences. The other students are allowed to harrass my niece but when she says something back she's "loud and ghetto". Every time she has had any trouble is from her being disrespected and giving the same disrespect back. It's sad to go to a school and feel like us as black people need to keep our heads down and take the disrespect! Some of the teachers are not interested in helping what you do not understand. I asked for help from 2 teachers in which I got 2 low grades and was kicked out of the program and told I would not be able to return. It really is a nice facility. I have toured many nursing schools and I have seen better, but overall nice facility. What I am mad about is the service I received. They let me take the TEAS and then passed me on to sign up for admissions. I just wanted to know what kind of financial aid I could get but they said I had to go through the sign up process first. Everything went well until I got to financial aid. I couldn't afford it which was fine, I knew it was pricey. So I tried to cancel my application. I got passed around to 3 different people ALL trying to convince me to pay or get a private loan for 25,000. They even tried to make my parents feel bad for not helping me pay for school (which I'm okay with. I'm 22 years old. I can handle my stuff). They were pushy and not nice at all. I'm very much disappointed I signed up for an orientation with no direction on how to process the link. Usually when an email is sent the link will be there to click on or however this works. I simply expressed that it didnt work and I would reschedule I never have felt so much pressure to open a link, given the fact that it was already halfway through the meeting I felt it appropriate to reschedule. What turned me off wasnt re school itself it was the representation of an advisor for the company. West Coast will be a school I will attend just not this one. I truly enjoyed the course. I took the 2 days a week 5 week phlebotomists course and Dinorah (course instructor/business owner) is very patient and informational. With her course being a fast track course Dinorah really gets to the point and tells you what you NEED to know. With her 20+ years experience in the medical field I really felt that I was in the right place. She lectures a chapter a week and assigns homework. There will be a quiz over the chapter the following week. As long as you do the homework and pass her quizzes with 80% or higher YOU WILL PASS THE COURSE.! She always gives you a chance to retake a quiz if you’re not happy with the grade. On puncture days she watches closely and corrects when needed and also talks strategy about how one should prepare the materials needed as well as the patient. The course cost includes 1 pair of scrubs, a 6 chapter textbook (less than 1/2 an inch thick), a composition notebook for notes, as well as all the training materials you will need to preform venipunctures and dermal punctures in class. The state certification cost is not included in the course cost. I enjoyed Dinorah and the atmosphere of her office so much that I plan to take the Medical Assistant course with her next year.Neshaa Crane

From Day 1 to my certification they had made the process extremely smooth, the curriculum was my favorite part as it was a lot of hands on experience, however we got a lot of anecdotal commentary and feed back from our instructor. It was a very engaging classroom as the lectures were articulated in a way that was very easily absorbable. All in all this facility and it's staff showed respect and genuine consideration for it's students, and I would more than recommend anyone to pull the trigger if they are on the edge of enrolling because I was on the same boat & I did not regret it! B&M Career Institute is a great place get certification! I started in January 2022 and manage to end the program of becoming a medical assistant! The Plaza at Edgemere has been a godsend for our family! Our mom has been an actual resident in the assisted living for 1 1/2 years. Before that, she had been in and out of the Edgemere's Rehab 5 times for falls in her own private apartment that resulted in broken bones! Hence, the time had come that she become a part of the Plaza "Family". Edgemere's staff is well trained and very friendly, the food is delicious and the facility itself is quite beautiful! During this pandemic, I must say that Edgemere has really stepped up to the plate so far, and has really done their best to stay on top of things! They were either the first or one of the very first, to lock-down BEFORE any other facility…way long before the city itself went into lock-down. Did they have some cases, yes. Pending on whether they were a staff member or resident, they were either self-isolated or went to the hosptial…..AS PER THE CDC/Health Inspectors. Not only were they immediately notified, but some representatives actually came out to the facility. All staff members have their temperatures taken before entering the building, masks and gloves are worn as well. All residents have been getting all their meals delivered to their rooms. They also get physical therapy in their rooms as well! Edgemere has kept these therapists contained to just working on a particular floor with those residents, as another precautionary measure they are taking! The only hiccup I can see happened in the VERY BEGINNING, where there was a 4 day lack of communication with the families of the residents, though the residents themselves got a letter. But after that initial 4 day period, communication has been great…..families were sent text/voice messages and emails daily…..pending on if there was news to report! Edgemere is a 5 star community conveniently located right in the heart of Park Cities. Everything great about the city of Dallas seems to be just a stone throw away from Edgemere! The building itself is a marvel; absolutely beautiful inside out with manicured lawns 365 days a year and smiling faces all around the community. 14 years later and am still in awe! The care provided to the residents is simply exceptional across different levels of living. The culture of honor and service to others is instilled in every employee from day one and continues each day during team huddles. The best part of working here are the residents of course! They are without a doubt a delight to work with/for. They come from diverse backgrounds from all over the nation as well as overseas. Both my mother and father lived at the Plaza at Edgemere during a two year period. The nurses and PCA's there were wonderful and so kind and attentive. Mother had to live a year in lock down during Covid and the staff couldn't have been better. It was a difficult time for the Edgemere for sure, but so many of the nurses, PCA's, cafeteria workers, speech therapists, PT, and OT as well the the activity director tried to spend extra time with her as she was so lonely and confused. Every facility has their challenges and I would have to say the Edgemere meets them well. I definitely recommend this school, I started in August of 2019 hopeful that I would get my foot into the medical field and that’s exactly what they’ve helped me accomplish thus far, besides that I had set my mind to come to this school do my work, learn and go home and leave it at that but the staff at this school is incredible. My experience at PCI Health Training Center, has been more than what I could’ve ever imagined. The campus is full of genuine people from the students, to the instructors, and especially the staff. My advisor Diana, has made a tremendous impact on my journey here. She is helpful, sincere, compassionate, and always willing to listen and guide her students to the best of her ability. She shows +1 service towards her students as well as her fellow colleagues. Seeing an optimistic, always smiling, genuine face is always so refreshing. Her as mine and many others’ advisor was truly a blessing. She is what pushes us to come everyday with her above and beyond care for her students. The review statement is to share my experience at this organization and that is what I will try my best to do starting with the instructors. I completed my medical assisting program in March of 2021. When I started I had been working at a hospital for about four years so I knew a few things medical jargon and such. However some of my classmates knew next to nothing and most had just finished high school. The instructors took time to meet us at our current level and help us excel. They laid a foundation for us to learn in multiple ways and was very hands on through out the complete process. They really helped in any way they could and prepared us for our future positions. Then while working find a better job for your future. if you have experience while in your externship hit the ground running looking for you a good job that will better suit your needs. My sister Jeannie has been a resident at M. West since October of 2018, at first in an apt. on the “regular” 2nd floor, where her (mentally challenged) daughter Susie was allowed by M. West to live with her. Then, after 8 months, due to Jeannie’s ever-increasing dementia, she was transferred to an apt. on the 3rd floor’s “Memory Care” unit, where Susie was restricted from any longer living with her mother. (Susie moved to California to live with her sister, as the family could not afford the extra expense of Susie living separate from her mother here in Dallas.) Jeannie has lived in Memory Care ever since, a current total of 3 years now. Now, and even before Jeannie’s Memory Care time, for me the heart & soul of M. West’s excellence has been, and still is, its superior STAFF. No matter on which occupational level, M. West’s employees habitually exhibit friendliness, compassion, & a complete professionalism. The turnover ratio at M. West has historically been, and remains, extremely low. This obviously indicates contented employees. It was also one of the major factors in the family’s decision to choose M. West. [Research Bulletin: If you are searching for a home for your loved one, try calling “A Place for Mom”, a free, friendly, wonderful service that narrowed down our search from the whole phone book to 7 strong selections, from which M. West rose to the top for us.] From maids, aides, laundry ladies, janitorial staff, building maintenance workers, food services staff, etc., to nurses, department directors & assistant directors, and administrative staff, the overall attitude is the same: ‘We are here for our residents, whatever their needs may be.’ To limit an overlong review, let me focus on just one example out of the possible many, the 3rd floor’s Memory Care unit. From director to floor-cleaner, again the attitude is friendly, “down-home”, & accommodating. The current Director has strong health-care credentials and exhibits an openness, tolerance, & patience with my several questions which I find refreshing. But my highest praise is for the now long-term Life Enrichment (or “Activities”) Coordinator. She is wonderful. Her lively, active, yet sensitive personality radiates fun, love, and caring toward all her residents. She insists on the importance and essential-to-life functionality of MUSIC (of all kinds) – rock, jazz, classical, even religious-service choir/ instrumental music (on T.V.). When the 3rd-floor elevator door opens, you are liable to enter a musical wonderland, which often prompts you to get the heck out there & dance (which I sometimes do, as I also often touch kind hands with some residents). The residents in wheelchairs may not be able to emulate this, but I think they enjoy it all the same. Lastly, the Coordinator continues her creative quests for additional physical/social activities that she feels will “engage” her residents (even if they don’t necessarily “show” this engagement in a visibly outward way). I think she’s right. Just as almost any debilitated resident will exhibit a sweet appreciation for even the slightest attention, so I believe, along with the Coordinator, that the sensual appeal is the key to proper engagement here. The senses – sight, of course, but hearing, touch (and taste & smell, thus the good food at M. West) as well – are the main avenue to a genuine, humane “connection” with those whose minds & bodies may have been diminished, but whose feelings (and other “sensings”) remain strong enough to respond, perhaps in the quietest (and even “invisible”?) way, to the promptings & stimulating soothings/excitement of an appeal to the emotions via the senses. In conclusion, all this is what I encounter when I make my at-least weekly visit to see my sister. As my younger daughter as a teenager liked to phrase it, I think that, relatively speaking, the 3rd floor’s Director, Life Enrichment Coordinator, super-supportive staff, and the residents themselves (metaphorically) simply “rock the house”. I give Monticello West retirement & Memory Care home my highest recommendation.Clark Terry

Monticello West do not give a dam about there employees. Everything may look good when first entering, but that's a cover up. The A/C on certain floors do not work. They have bed-bugs and doesn't seem to care, roaches as well in certain rooms. Workers lack the appropriate training needed some residents are double diapered. Workers leave before the next shift get there a resident could have falling in between time. Overall management is horrible and needs to be removed. It's not Assisted Living when you are providing total care to some patients which is so wrong on many levels. You're dealing with violent residents that injured some workers nothing being done. If it wasn't for the workers those people wouldn't be takin care of. TAKE RESPONSIBILITY AND CARE FOR YOUR EMPLOYEES AND PROTECT YOUR EMPLOYEES. Residents are there because there own family can't bare the responsibility, but always want to complain. Y'all don't know the half we go through to take care of the residents. There have been security issues where homeless people have entered the building not only disregarding your staff safety, but residents as well. My mother has been living at Monticello West for about 5 months now. This was a very difficult decision as I am sure it is for every person going through this transition. After visiting another facility down road I was very upset as it was so obvious that the staff and the residents were not happy. When I walked into Monticello West it was the exact opposite, the staff was smiling, the residents were happy and engaged. Residents were greeted by staff by their name and with a smile. I knew this was the right choice. My mother moved in three weeks later. She thanks me every week for finding this place for her. She absolutely loves it! She participates in all the activities they offer and I know she is in good hands. The executive director Michael provides regular communication with emails with updates, which is SO appreciated. The nursing staff will call if needed keeping me informed of any concerns that may arise. Nan was the one who provided up with our tour initially and it is obvious she loves her job. She really made sure this was going to be a wonderful place for my mom. Honestly, this was the best decision I could have made. So grateful!Jennifer Svelan

I attended CE Global to obtain my medication aide permit in June/2017..I enjoyed my experience here! They have morning and evening programs ..There very friendly! Sam at the front desk keeps u rolling, My instructor Ms Toby was awesome! Just love her! She always has a smile on her face, she knows her stuff and breaks things down for ya.. The class is fast paced but its mostly common sense so you will get it..I didnt miss 1 class i was excited to go and a lil sad because the program went by so fast.. I started working as a full time Med aide less then a month after i graduated the program and once i actually got on the Med Cart i feel like i was prepared well..It was a good move for me, and im ready to take on the next challenge.. Would love to take up more programs here!K Green

This place needs to be shut down for state testing and training programs also!!! I had to reschedule my exam because there wasn’t anyone to help me when I walked in at my scheduled testing time. I had to walk around the building to find someone; by that time I was 3 minutes late, turned around by the test proctor and was told to reschedule when the test hadn’t even started yet. The school staff was very rude as if it was my fault. Good thing I didn’t attend here for any training. I’ll be sure to let my colleagues about how unprofessional this place is. I wouldn’t schedule a test here ever again. I spent 2 weeks prepping for this exam just to be told to reschedule for an issue out of my control.Brandi (Leo Vibes)

My dad was a resident at Walnut Place from July 2021 through December 2021. At the time, my dad was 85 years old and had been diagnosed with dementia for approximately 2 years. He was initially hospitalized at Presbyterian for a UTI in July and the doctors there recommended to my mom that he be transferred to Walnut Place for further treatment/rehab. I am unsure if there is an affiliation between Presbyterian and Walnut Place but it seems likely that there is. My mom took Presbyterian's recommendation at face value and had my dad moved to Walnut Place. My dad lived on 3 different floors while he was a resident there. It was in his first room on the 2nd floor where he tried to get out of bed. This resulted in him falling and fracturing his wrist. To this day, it is unclear to me why he was in a bed without bars since this would have likely impeded this activity. The staff on this floor was fairly hit and miss. Shortly after this, my dad moved to the Rehab To Home program. These rooms are located on the 6th floor, and this was his best experience. The rooms were all clean with small kitchenettes, the staff was friendly, and my dad's needs were attended to, such as cutting up his food & feeding him, changing him regularly, clean bed linens etc. His last and final move to the 3rd floor is the primary reason for this rating. This floor always smelled like urine. As soon as you stepped off the elevator, it hit you in the face. I saw at least 3 roaches in my dad's room during his time there. Face masks, paper towels, and wet wipes were scarce if existent at all. We never found one of the foot pedals for his personal wheelchair after it mysteriously disappeared. I would do my best to come to Dallas 2 weekends a month. It never failed that when I would arrive on a Friday or Saturday morning that I would find my dad with food all over his face and clothing. My dad could not cut up food or feed himself at this time and there were instructions for staff to assist with this. When I would ask staff about this, they would get short and defensive with me and tell me they did not have the time. Even more disturbing than the food was the fact that my dad was often soaked in urine and occasionally soiled with feces. My dad was still lucid at this point and he was very embarrassed about this. I can only speculate that my dad was in similar conditions on the mornings that I was not there. My dad was moved to this floor because staff had determined that he required 2 staff members to assist him, and that was not a "service" available through the Rehab To Home program. Good luck finding 2 staff members on the 3rd floor who were not only available but also willing to help. I would track someone down and either get told, I'll be there soon (and not see this person again), or I'd be met with attitude about how busy they were, my dad's room wasn't in their section etc. One aide practically yelled her schedule in my face. I would offer to help and sometimes that would result in him getting cleaned up sooner but then there was no reason for him to be on this floor if the 2-person requirement couldn't be met with current staffing. It was $6000/month for this "service." There were some very kind staff who worked at Walnut Place, and I always made sure they knew how much we appreciated them. The arts & crafts ladies were so sweet and you could tell they loved their jobs. The front desk staff, the physical therapists, and the doctors were all knowledgeable and helpful. But the aides at Walnut Place, who are the backbone of this facility (and this industry, in general), were overall unreliable, unpleasant, and not helpful. If they are indifferent and/or negligent, it is your loved ones who will suffer as a result.Kayla Murray

My father-in-law was placed here a couple of weeks ago. We had heard the facility was pretty good, but, let me tell you, it’s not good now. It smells and it’s run down. We NEVER had a family meeting the whole time we were there which was inexcusable. We kept asking to no avail. We had very little communication from the staff (other than PT/OT) on goals, progress, or how long we’d be there. The nurses were hit or miss when they showed up. Some were very kind, others acted like it was an inconvenience to help with changing a diaper or going to the potty (which was THEIR job in the first place). They are horribly understaffed which made the good nurses overworked. One weekend I saw 4 nurses standing around at the nurses’ station laughing and talking instead of taking care of patients. Never seen that many nurse on the floor other than that one time. The highlight of the rehab were the 3 amazing therapists. The OT, PT, and speech therapists were awesome! They changed diapers, worked daily to strengthen my father in law and get him home. Thank you!! I’d give this place one star if it weren’t for them. They got him strong enough to leave that horrible place. Do not put you loved one here. We will never go back there if we need a rehab facility again.Julie Plagens

Residents and patients are not safe. The IL residents have asked in council meetings to have nightshift security, only to be ignored. Staff has discussed this issue with executives, only to be ignored. Families and local hospital partners would be astonished to know the reality. With Walnut Place being near a DART station and near a very visible homeless population, when people prop doors open at night, to go for a smoke or whatever, homeless people enter the building. Walnut Place had a homeless man living there for weeks before he was discovered. He could’ve killed someone. But I guess since “nothing happened” it got brushed under the rug. Does anyone at Walnut Place even care about anybody or anything except making money? Why isn’t safety and security a priority? Don’t send your loved one to Walnut Place.Beth Aarons

This is a wonderful place to live and work, I've been part of this community for so long when it was Grace and now The villages of Dallas. The therapy team is so awesome and amazing. I've seen people come in thinking that they wasn't going to make it and now going into independent or assisted living. The nursing team is awesome and very attentive to the needs of the residents. They have care plans together with families and staff to coordinate the best plan of care for the resident. The management team is amazing. They have staff that has been there 20 plus years, that should tell you something about this place.The entire place feels like home, they have therapy gym state of the art equipment, Olympic size swimming pool, on-site store, and best of all in-house physician with office on site. They also have cottages, apartments, skilled nursing, and long-term. The grounds are amazing and so peaceful if you just want to take a walk outside the community is safe. The food is amazing. The activities are so amazing, on-site and they even go out into the community. Not only is this the best place for your loved one, but is the best place to start a career. The villages of Dallas will always be five star in my book if I can't get more stars,I would. One stop shop 🔥🔥 This company really values there employees by promoting within. I've seen certified nursing assistant go from CNA, to medical records, to HR director. I've seen housekeeping become medical records, I've seen charge nurses become ADONs. I've seen CNAs become Admissions directors. I've seen dietary tech become dietary manager. I have seen DON go to Compliance. I've seen therapy tech go on to be Therapy Directors. I've seen maintenance workers go on to be maintenance supervisors. So if you're looking for a place where you can advance to the next level, The Villages of Dallas is where it's at. They recognize good hard workers. The Culture of Ensign speaks for itself. You get training through out the year, even those CEUs that we need for licensed professionals. If you don't believe me, come by fill out an application, show your dedication and hard work and see won't you be rewarded. Most jobs you go unnoticed, but with Ensign you get noticed. The benefits are amazing, and this is a company you can actually retire with. Put it in all those years at a company is just not worth it, you need to be at a place where you can retire and not just a job. The saddest thing to me is putting all your hard work and dedication into a company that doesn't show you love at the end of your journey, but this is not one. My dad spent the last days of his life here in the skilled nursing unit. We wouldn't have chosen this place, but it was the only place nearby that the VA would pay for. The staff was competent but overworked. The shared rooms are depressing and small. There is room for one chair to be shoved into the space. It's hard to have more than two visitors. You have to walk through one resident's space to get to the person on the far side of the room. There was no TV on my dad's side of the room. The hospital bed has to be a foot away from the air conditioner because that's the only way it fits. My dad was in hospice care with a degenerative disease. The first day he didn't eat, they stopped bringing meals. His appetite came back a bit so we brought food from home to feed him the next couple of days. Meals did resume after a family member complained. There also seemed to be a weird turf war with the hospice company we used, despite the fact that there was an agreement in place between the two companies. The nurse was annoyed at requests from the hospice social worker and brought it up to my mom saying hospice had no authority. This is not something someone losing their husband needs to deal with. A few concerning things happened after my dad passed away. He passed away about two hours after I left his room. The nurse who called to notify us first said he wasn't doing well rather than being direct and saying he died. Then he said that his body was cold when they found him. This is highly unlikely as body temp only lowers about 1.5 F per hour after death, so he wouldn't feel that cold yet. Also, that's just a weird unnecessary detail to share. When I arrived the next day to collect some of his things, a circular fan was missing. I went to the front desk to ask if they had seen it and found that they were using it at the nurse station. This fan had his name written on it in 3 places and was sitting next to his belongings in the room when I left it. It would not have been easy to confuse it for V of D property. The nurse on duty gave the fan back to me. I understand it was hot and my dad wasn't using it anymore, but no one left a note about where it went or asked if it was ok. They were just going to keep it. My dad wasn't neglected, but I wouldn't choose this place if I had it to do over again. I guess it works if it's all you can afford.Meagan Longoria

This place was absolutely wonderful. My favorite first impression was the marketer, Stacy, she was thorough, she answer all my questions, and she followed up pretty quickly. The hardest part is placing a loved one, and when you work with a facility like the villages of Dallas, it makes things less stressful. This place actually really opens up when you arrive. They house independent living, assisted living, and they also house memory care. They also Are a nursing facility, So they do skilled care as well. This facility is right by life school, right off of Ann Arbor, in Oak Cliff.Honestly the prices are really reasonable for everything that they offer, the place is huge, lots to do activity wise, and everybody there has been working there for so long, it says a lot about the company.Kim Quach

This place is one of very few positive businesses in the Pleasant Grove community. They've provided free to inexpensive classes for everything from teachers aid to nurses aid. The gentleman in the library is always super helpful and respectful. The front desk is always courteous and the little lady at the cashier window is adorably sweet. My experience applying to their Health program has been an absolute disappointment. The allied health department changed their application requirements two months prior to the application deadline expecting their applicants to fulfill their requirements without any help or clarification from the department. Not once did they communicate with their applicants of changes, updates or even placement notifications. The whole process was just completely wrong from the start and they should learn to do better for their future applicants. Who ever is running this department should be ashamed of themselves and take full responsibility of the failure this process was. Not sending out the NEW application requirements at least a semester prior so that people had a chance to take the new courses necessary. If you're looking to apply to any of their programs don't. Or at least don't just apply here, give yourselves options.Paola Salazar
