I left a BSN program to attend CCHS and it was the best decision I ever made for my nursing career! Compared to the university I previously attended, CCHS classes are small and intimate, we had easy access to our teachers and advisors and we had a TON of hands-on clinical experience. I felt very prepared for the NCLEX as well as my first nursing job after I graduated. I then was able to work as an RN while taking classes online for my BSN after I graduated. Two days ago, I received an acceptance letter into CCHS’s Neurodiagnostic Technology program! The application process was made easy due to great communication, kindness and patience from Robert, the Coordinator of Admissions. Mrs. Ashley Hastings, the Program Chair, answered all of my questions in detail, making me more eager to join the program. I am looking forward to gaining knowledge from her. I've attended CCHS for almost 2 years now. I like how the staff has worked diligently with student during COVID-19. While everyone is still going through difficult times, they have been able to adapt to regulations and restrictions of healthcare that have been placed during the pandemic. I truly enjoy attending CCHS and I know that once I graduate from the nursing program, I will have all the tools, training, and guidance needed to provide excellent care to all patients.Stephanie Lemons

Let's be honest, there are good things and bad things to this school. While the department the major I have is very small and thus more personal with you, especially with advising, the bigger departments like business are very impersonal with you, and hold rather strict barrings on until you complete the, to be honest, useless general education the college forces on you, though that is the case anywhere in America. It is almost arrogant in how they dismiss the ideas and opinions of the students in favor of their own. They are also known for their excessive penny pinching. With the prices on campus being outrageous, they also hold strict rulings for housing and parking, giving you hefty bills if you mess up on even the slightest infraction. Overall, the grand and upcoming productions they are doing with the school, such as the football field and new dorms and buildings, do not help the general student population much. Now, with this said, there are good things to this place. For one, in smaller departments, you get a generally more personal and kinder attention to you and your college career. With my department at least, as long as you show the ability, they help you get the classes you want and need. Also, at least on campus, school spirit runs deep with the green and gold. There are more than enough events to bolster this said school patriotism, and can eventually come to rival other schools. Also, while some professors have a tendency to stuff beliefs down the student's throats, others can be thought inspiring, and can be interesting and even fun to go to classes sometimes. However, the lousy administration still lingers over these benefits, and hampers the overall quality of the school. If they fixed that problem, they would be a good school. However, with that said problem, I can only recommend it, as a current student, as a mediocre to slightly above average at best school to prospective students. To them, I would look at your options and see if you want to come here. I do not regret the choice of coming to this school, but I cannot ignore its blatant and crippling flaws.Drunk Farmer

If you have a lot of money, or you're a research student or engineer, you probably won't have a problem with this school. The school looks very nice on the outside, but as a student, I hated it. The dorms were god awful. Their elevators did not work on the first day of move in. At one point they did not have enough rooms in the highrises for the students, and had to house students in the commons rooms and blackout the windows. The Cafeteria food was always questionable. Cold and pretty unimaginative. Facilities and services always closed down early. There was hardly anything open on the weekends. Not to mention there is barely any means of going anywhere outside of campus if you don't have a car. Speaking of cars, parking services is ridiculous and incompetent. They wrote me up even when I had my parking tag right on the windshield, positioned properly where it was supposed to be, and another time I got a ticket after the semester had ended! This school just looks for ways to nickel and dime students. They're department chairs and coordinators are a bunch of fools who can't manage their jobs. And when they make mistakes, you are the one who will probably end up paying for it.Eric Williams

I went to UNCC back in the mid to late 90s. All I can say is if I had a time machine, I'd love to go back. I met several life-long friends that I continue to hang out with to this day. It's amazing how much the campus has changed over the years. The last time I was there (for the first football game) I almost got lost. I received a fine arts degree and have made a career out of digital printing and design. According to other reviews, people still like to go home on the weekends. That was also the case when I attended, but for the brave that stay around the school during the weekend, more power to you. That's where the fun is really at. Also, I'm hearing that students aren't attending the football games and the ones that are, tend to leave early. All I have to say to that is, just be glad you have a football team. We were so sports deprived back in the day, we would go to all the basketball and baseball games. Good times!Chad Milburn

*This review is in regards to their summer intern housing program* Queens must be the most incompetent organization I have ever dealt with. Of a group of five friends, they managed to "mistransfer" two of our contact information into their database – they messed up 40% of our applications! (Oh, and they they "misassigned" a third to the wrong room). While I wasn't too upset to learn that I lost my spot, even contacting them about my refund proved difficult since they don't answer their phone during business hours. If you're going to apply for summer intern housing at Queens, make sure to put in a few applications elsewhere.Alex Hoffman

The nursing program is bad. Less than half of the students that start at Queens for nursing end up graduating. Most people fail out of the program. You need at least a 77 to pass your classes and they will not help you if you’re 0.1 away from passing. If you fail a class, you can only retake it once and you will be delayed a semester because you can only take that one class. If you fail two classes, you’re out. It’s a very expensive school and not worth your time. They have a HESI exam that counts 10% of your grade and it’s really hard and you can’t study for it. The professors were top rate, requiring excellence at all times and were superb at instructing through an online platform supported by faculty specifically assigned to assist the full time working professional. This college has made a terrible impression. They got me admitted as a transfer student, and I have been preparing for the Fall session online, but to appear in person, and I just found out I missed the registration deadlines because student advising never got back to me. I took the new student orientation and the professor, just skimmed through all the info. There wasn't time for questions, and she cut it short by 30 minutes. It didn't even explain how to register online. I had been in communication and prepared for this session but didn't understand how to register so all the classes I had 'added to my schedule' weren't actually registered, and no one followed up with my questions. I thought I was registered, and even as I try to register now after the fact, it still says I need student advising which no one ever got back to be except for an email to say I already had everything set up. I am torn about this. Now I have to wait another session to get started?! NO! I will take my education somewhere where I can actually get assistance. This is such an emotional drag.Gabrielle Flores

I'm still currently a Johnson & Wales student. It is OKAY. The Chefs are geniuses and the culinary labs are AMAZING. BUT the academics are merely mediocre, making them not worth the price. Most of the textbooks are written by the school (understandably, since their degree programs are all very complex) and they crazy overcharge for them even by textbook standards. Since they are only available through the school, they take advantage of it. Most of the teachers however, do everything they can to keep you from having to pay for the books. Charlotte is a lovely place to go to school, but they did a terrible job placing the campus. It's MOSTLY a nice area, but after 4 o'clock it gets pretty sketchy. In the year and a half that I have been here, they have changed the curriculum four different times. Most of the changes are fine and don't really effect my everyday. The dorms, are horrifying. The dining hall gave everyone in my year food poisoning at least three times. The apartment style dorms are full of water damage that the school claims to have dealt with, but our carpet is still bubbled up a foot every few steps we take and all of our cabinets smell like mold. BUT they ARE currently getting money together to start building new apartment style dorms. Construction is supposed to start in 2018 (they're currently working on buying the building from the city). Unfortunately since this is technically a remote campus of the Providence school, everything has to go through them before coming to us. They are stuck in the dark ages. They use paper for all their files and also every test, essay, and request. Things get lost all the time and a lot gets lost over the communications between campuses, but that's not charlotte JWU's fault. SUMMARY: Dorms suck, food is poison. Culinary classes are great, academics probably aren't worth the money. They're fixing the dorm situation, but won't be done before I graduate. Providence Campus is the worst.Sage WolfeZogg

I am currently attending this school and it's pretty fun. Charlotte is a beautiful area, but the location of campus is placed strangely. There's always a lot of construction around, but I don't blame the school for that. I'm in baking and pastry and the chefs and students are mostly positive while in class though they seem like they expect so much more out of the students who don't know half the stuff we're being taught. Academics is okay, but some teachers treat the students poorly. When it comes to academics, the student DO know stuff and some teachers treat students like they are clueless five year-olds. I'd say the school is too expensive for what it gives us. I'll be spending years in student loan debt after maybe a bachelor's degree. The food in the cafeteria is horrible for a culinary school. They try to make things fancy and just end up making it more gross. The dorm halls always smell like weed. The RAs don't care and are students as well so if you have a problem with someone, they pick sides. CVT isn't too bad, which is where I'm living next year. I love this school and I was excited to come, but it feels like they're making no effort for any of their students that are paying so much to be here.Ashley Evans

The school is okay as a whole but I'm here to bring everyone's attention to the food. First off they have served raw chicken to us multiple times and then they pick through the meat to choose the ones who arent cooked leaving the rest of the now contaminated meat behind for us to eat. This food has made me and others sick on more than one occasion now. Not to mention the people working down there are rude, wearing earbuds so they cant hear us. How is this acceptable we pay good money to be here but yet they act like the world is crashing down if we ask them to put things out so we can get the food. This school is great. The staff was even greater. Very family oriented, caring, and provided a great and safe atmosphere. Let us just start with when you enter the building, and there is this warm and kind spirited receptionist( Mrs. Ireene) that greets you. Her daughter our instructor Ms. Grant was also amazing at what she did and was very stylish doing it; which I loved it made it more interesting and not so boring. All though Ms. Grant was very entertaining you can tell she knew her stuff. I loved that she only gave you what you needed and not the extra fluff unless you asked for it. I can guarantee you with Ms. Grant as your instructor there is no way you can fail unless you just do not come to class. Blooming Heart School of Health is a school like no other. When you enter, Ms. Irene greets you with a beautiful smile and welcomes you to the school. Ms. Grant continues this during the classes and makes everyone feel like they belong. Her teaching style is amazing and helped me retain so much information! The fun jokes and talks we had in class were really enjoyable. The skills lab and the teaching method Ms. Grant used to help us remember how to do all the skills was so different and helpful. This was my home away from home and if I could go back and redo my 4 weeks there, I would! I had an amazing experience, met so wonderful people, and learned awesome skills!Medha Muppuri

Ms. Grant is so passionate about creating a future of empathetic and hardworking nurse assistants and it shows. She is very thorough with all of the information needed to pass the CNA exam and skills test. Ms.Grant goes out of her way so that every student gets a full understanding of skills and concepts and uses real life examples to make lessons understandable. Blooming Heart School is organized, affordable, and flexible with day and night classes. I would recommend her to anyone and everyone who is interested in being a nurse aide or medicine aide in North Caroline. I really enjoyed the staff and the faculty at the campus. The night classes came in handy if you work full time during the day or if you have small kids to take care of. Also, with so many online classes it is much easier to handle the work/life balance and responsibilities. I like how clear everything is to understand, how the faculty are subject matter experts and work with people who need extra attention and extra patience as life can be challenging when juggling so much. The people in financial aid and the Dean are really good about answering questions and providing guidance and support. The class structures being one at a time in the semester and the small amount of people in the class help make it easier to have a relationship with the faculty. Don’t get me wrong, if you don’t study and you don’t focus, you will not succeed. But if what you want to do is get right to the point, work hard and get a job, this is the place to go. I know other people who have studied in different places and I honestly feel like when we talk about what classes I had to take and what material I had to study, I really feel like I got a lot more out of the experience than they did with theirs. This school needs to learn how to listen to the students sometimes. I can say that with some of the reviews they are right about the money part if I would’ve did more research i probably would’ve went somewhere else because how is it that I signed up for classes and did all the paper work but then when school starts and begin classes that all of sudden the books cost more then you expected. You should have known that before classes started or during the process prices don’t change overnight. The instructor i had no longer works here but she was a very good teacher, she made sure that you understand everything and always tried to relate it to everyday life things to help you remember and only because of her am i glad that i came here because she really made me fall in love with my program. Private school scam! Young adults, please don't fall for this. Sharon Palmer will manipulate you into signing over to pay fifty thousand dollars for a five thousand dollar course. All they care about is money and their credits don't even transfer. I withdrew in Novmeber and they still are triyng to get me to pay loans for classes I never attended. When I called them today, they said they split your fafsa in half (which makes no sense) and use the other half for the next semester wherther you go or not. This way, if the half doesn't cover the semester you're forced to take out a loan. Coretha and Sharon palmer spammed me with emails at one and two in the morning trying to coerce me into signing things and making me feel like it was life or death. Terrible with finacial aid, your number will always change and they will give with next to nothing. Make sure you take 12 credits (+5 classes) or else youll have $30.51 as your refund like me and have to drop out because you cant afford a book fee. 😡. This school is absolutely AMAZING! Mrs. Sue and Mrs. Zainab are two of the most caring and thoughtful instructors/people I have ever had the pleasure of meeting. Mrs. Sue, who was my class' instructor for the CNA I class, was extremely dedicated to our class and to making sure that we knew all of the information for the state test and for our careers in medicine. She volunteered to stay later or come in earlier when students needed it and she was always willing to answer any questions or help you in any way. Mrs. Zainab, an instructor and the director of the school, went above and beyond the extra mile to make sure that we passed the state exam and that we had an extremely knowledgeable and pleasant time at her school. She truly cares about her students' success which is obvious in every conversation with her as she was always checking in on and encouraging us. I cannot be more grateful for Unity Nursing Institute, its staff, and all that it has taught me about being a CNA or being in the medical field in general. Miss Zainab is hands down the most amazing teacher I have ever had. She is passionate about the medical field and helping provide the best care. Best CNA school in North Carolina, classes are for 1 month and you get mostly hands on with the classes. The instructors Ms. Grace and Dr. Avery taught the theory lessons well, and ensure you ask questions and get answers if you don’t understand. If you are looking for A CNA class, chosen health care is the one to attend. The instructors there work for the state board before, so their experience will be an advantage of you getting more information and lesson completed so you can feel comfortable to pass the board exam. I chose this cna program because it was short but professor grace is very rude. Judged me because I didn’t get the covid vaccine even though I told her I couldn’t because of medical reasons and accused me of having covid in front of the whole class. Mind you, I’ve already had it and tested negative for it while taking the course. Wasn’t notified that the exam date had changed, had to hear from it from another student since none of the professors reached out. Overall bad experience, you’re better off doing the extra week or two at another program.M

I just finished my CNA1 course at Chosen and it was a great experience! Mrs. Grace is a very intelligent and thorough instructor. Although it is only a 4 week course the lessons taught were very easy to understand and all questions are answered in details. My apologies in advance for the long review, but I promise it is worth the read. For starters, I want to be very clear and say that if you are not an individual that is ready to learn and willing to study this program is not for you. Moving from a different state and coming into this program was more than worth it in the end. Mrs. Monica is an exquisite instructor who has a passion for healthcare. She is more than willing to do whatever it is that needs to be done to help her students succeed. Although the Nurse Aide 1 course I took was a little over a month, I have seen the outcomes of having an amazing instructor that will prepare you for your accreditation as well as in real life and an instructor that just tells you what you need to do to pass (a good number of those students who just wanted to pass, did not and had to retake the course). Mrs. Monica is going to make you over-prepared for what you need to know to ensure that you are more than prepared for what's to come. I recently passed both my written and skills exam and in both moments, I can say I was extremely confident and prepared to do what was asked of me. During my experience, I've. had students from different schools asking me questions due to them not feeling as confident. I was proud to know that all of my hard work would pay off before my career even started in those moments. I had the liberty of meeting students from other schools who may have taken this exam more than once already and usually, they are either not taking the time to study and practice (so they're lazy) or they don't feel they were prepared. That was not my story at Serenity Nurse Aide Academy. Mrs. Monica may come off as stern or direct in a lot of situations because she takes her job seriously and she strives for excellence in all that she does but you will also enjoy a lot of fun moments with her and the other students along the way. I guarantee that you will have EVERYTHING you need to excel in this course and in your field because it is given to you and reiterated constantly throughout the course and up to the point of you passing your exams. I came today with a group of people to take my skills exam . Upon entry we were given several papers that needed to be filled out before testing. Monica was my evaluator & seemed pretty nice . I was given 5 skills that I would consider ‘easy’ compared to the extensive CNA class I enrolled myself into a few months ago. I was told by my instructor when taking the skills exam I needed to be obvious with what I was doing, talking myself through each skill- which I did.Monica often walked out of the room or was not on the inside of the pulled curtain when the girl I was working with and myself were doing our skills- often missing steps that we did in fact do. I received my failed test score about an hour ago and the skills Monica claimed I did not do , I know for a fact that I did. A grievance form has been filled out with credentia .Breanna M Anderson

I definitely recommend taking the Nurse Aide I course here at Serenity. The teacher, Ms. Monica is a delight & knows her nursing skills. She will prepare you to pass the state exam as long as you listen to her in class. She will push you but only because she wants everyone to reach their full potential. She will expect you to rise to her expectations. She desires to get to know each person in the class and does everything in her power to make sure the students are successful. I do think the administration could use some work as there were communication issues related to COVID. American Academy of Healthcare is one of the less expensive choices for CNA programs in Charlotte, and it was absolutely wonderful! I loved the small class size of 12 and the clinical experience at a long-term acute care hospital. Pauline and Leslie were great instructors that always made time to help, and provided many extra resources. It's easy to tell how badly they want you to succeed, and are very excited to hear about your future plans. They allowed us to use the skill rooms as we pleased, even after the last day of classes, to prepare for the state CNA exam, which is something many other schools refuse to do. That extra practice is what allowed me to pass the state exam on the first try, and I am now employed at a hospital for my first CNA job. Definitely worth the time and money!!Stephany H

I took the weekend NURSE AID 1 hybrid class; meaning in person and online that started March 6th. Even with just two days a week, we learned A LOT, not in an overwhelming way but in a way that was comfortable for us to know our skills. Miss Leslee was my instructor and she was great! I understood her teaching style and had no issues! She is determined to help us know what we need to know! Miss Pauline is a gem, she will pop in and out to make sure things are running good and she has a beautiful spa next door! I was able to pass my written and skills exam on the first try, yay! This is the place to go to receive some of the best and detailed training to be the best Nurse assistant you can be. Leslee is well versed in everything not only of which is required to be taught by the state of NC, but also what you need to know for the state test, and information on how testing will go so that students are more comfortable on test day. She not only will prepare you to become a CNA but also gives helpful tips about working in the nursing field, something only a skilled former Nurse could do. Miss Carol also helps out has always answered questions very well and I felt very informed and ready when test day came.Sarah Lash

I enrolled in the Medical Assistant program at ECPI in March 2020 (3 month pregnant). With everything going virtual I really questioned staying enrolled. the school was not easy to work with over a computer. My Financial aid was messed up in the beginning and had to be completely redone and some of the teachers were TERRIBLE with virtual learning. I stuck it out and hoped for the best. As my due date creeped up I started freaking out but Mrs. Mocilan helped make sure everything with school was set for me to welcome my little boy. When we were finally able to come back in person all my classes were with Mrs. Mocilan. I honestly would not have finished this program if it wasn’t for her. She encourages all her students and she see the potential every individual has. She ALWAYS made herself available to her students no matter what she had going on. She went over and beyond to make study material for each certification you can get through the program. Then when you go out on externship she does everything to make sure you are getting the hands on training. I am currently employed at my externship site and she still checks on. I’ve been enrolled at ECPI since 2019, since then the staff have been very helpful and reassuring. Tabitha Mocilan and Charles Berry in particular stood out to me as instructors who were dedicated to helping their students get the best education and support when needed. Not only were they always readily available while in person, they made sure to be there for any questions or concerns I had on their time off. Their classes always kept my attention, whether virtual or in person. Our classes were always interactive! Both of them made sure to get to know you as a student and also understand enough about your personal life to help you stay on track in the courses. I recently graduated from the medical assistant program and I absolutely loved it! Mrs. Mocilan and Mr. Berry were both amazing. They both took the time to help you with whatever you may be struggling with and especially with the pandemic they spent a lot of time with their students! I ended up with 4 certifications and I can honestly say that I was ready for all of them because I was really engaged in class because I was taught everything that I needed to learn for my exams. Class size can very from 5 students to 20. Clinicals were done for our clinical classes and we would also have open labs if you needed help and that helped me a lot! I had an absolutely wonderful time during my two weeks. All my other classmates were great people. Everyone got along with everyone and got to know each other and practicing skills with them was fun and allowed me to remember the skills better. The lst week is course work and skills and the last week is clinicals which was enjoyable. Since the program is not a fly-by-night cna school it allows for the ability to remember everything because you do it so many times and you spend hours working on skills and learning about them. It also allows for the chance to meet people and make contacts with your peers. The teachers are wonderful and the experience is great.
